Visit this spot if you want a good cheap meal under $25! This is Part 1 of #BudgetBites where I show you the best spots in Toronto where you can get a full satisfying meal less than $25! GoGo Kimbap has so many options for Korean tteokbokki, udon, kimbap, rice bowls and small bites! Rosé tteokbokki is a staple for me but the cream udon really stole the show here - so creamy and good While you can get the basic version for $11-14 each, I recommend putting some add ons in (I always add wide glass noodles to my tteokbokki and I added bulgolgi to my cream udon! Sausage is a also always a good idea) The Kimbap comes with 10 pieces and is a meal in itself tbh! So for $25 you can probably get a Kimbap and basic tteokbokki or udon and be very full. Here's what I tried: Rose tteokbokki - $12, add ons ~$4 extra each Cream bulgolgi udon - $14 Jjajang Sausage Udon - $12 Crabmeat cheese kimbap - $13 Jeonju Bulgolgi - $14 Oden Kimbap - $11 GoGo Combo - $11

We decided to check out this newly opened restaurant for kimbap and tteokboki! We ordered the bulgogi kimbap and rose tteokboki topped with wide noodles, sausage, and fish cake to share. The portions were just right for 2 people! Service was kind and friendly! There isn't much decor or ambiance inside of the restaurant, but it serves its purpose for dine in and takeout.

Was craving some kimbap and found the perfect place! They are a small restaurant with a few seats. They specialize in kimbap, but also have udon, tteokbokki, dupbap (rice bowls), and fried dishes. Ordered the bulgogi kimbap and rose tteokbokki with additional toppings. Both were very yummy and as expected! Service was friendly and quick! Definitely will come back when craving a quick Korean meal.

Very good kimbap and tteobokki. Portion for tteobokki could be more considering the price. Very good service.

Jokbal is a unique traditional Korean feast…read more Hanyang Jokbal in North York specializes in Korean braised pork hock. Hanyang was the prior name of Seoul, where this dish gained popularity. The Half & Half platter ($44) featured their original jokbal and our pick of garlic bossam. Both braised meats were soft with savory grilled flavor, while the jokbal skin had a gelatinous texture. Pork hock isn't exactly my preferred cuts but these had no gaminess; a slight disappointment was the chunky cuts instead of slices. The meal started with a salty bean sprout soup that helped to cleanse the palate. Lettuce wraps & garnishes such as kimchi, jalapeño, scallions were provided to balance out the meaty flavour. Seafood pancake ($24) was crisp and contained plenty of scallions and imitation crabmeat. For some fun, our party added several orders of DIY Seasoned Rice Balls ($12) which came with a variety of ingredients to mix using the provided plastic gloves. The tasty rice balls were easy to make with furikake, nori, mayo, sesame & tobiko. It was so easy even kids could make them. The interior became busy on our weekend visit, in a typical Korean restaurant atmosphere that felt authentic and welcoming. The staircase down to the basement washroom needs a clean and the utensils also required a replacement. The meal itself was tasty with portions large enough for sharing, making it a worthwhile family meal despite a few misses. It's the original of 5 locations now in Canada. Skip it or hit it? Even if pork hock isn't your thing, it's a spot we've enjoyed for the occasional meal.

Broth was very rich & flavourful. It came with spicy sauce to be added but did not really need. It was Tuesday evening and around 6pm all the tables were already full. Everything was delicious and our servers just kept the sides coming haha. They took great care of us. My only complaint was that it was so hot in our booth... when you step away to the washroom, the restaurant is well ventilated and air conditioned, but at our booth, it felt like zero air flow, we were sweating so hard while BBQ-ing. Portion size is pretty fair for what you pay for as well. Pricing can be expensive for two people, but with a group it's very reasonable. 20260703

They are generous with side dish portions and also offer refills. My fav was the eggplant -- nice texture and seasoning. The onion pickles and kimchi go very well with the meat and cut through the grease. You do have to cook your own meat, so pay attention not to over-grill :b Service was fast and attentive, and their Korean retro decoration is adorable. Really brings me back to having K-BBQ in Korea.

Definitely not my first time here as I've come with family or friends over the past 15+ years, every time, leaving very satisfied. Made sure to arrive for opening time to get a table right away since based on past experience, the wait can take some time, especially for dinner or on the weekends. Of course, had to order my two favourite menu items: 물냉면 - Mool naengmyun (Cold Noodles) and 김치찜 - Kimchi jjim (Braised Kimchi with Pork Belly). Have tried their other dishes in the past, which are pretty standard, but always find myself still gravitating back to these two. The slushy broth is always so tasty and refreshing! They also bring out a good variety of 반찬 - banchan (side dishes). Parking was easy to find this time since we got there early, but sometimes you have to circle around a few times or park at a neighbouring plaza and walk over. Hoping they reopen somewhere else soon!

It was packed with the usual high-decibel level. This food is the closest taste-wise (spice levels) to Korean food which we have enjoyed in South Jeolla Province in Korea. I devoured a lovely doenjang jjigae (fermented soybean stew). Perfectly seasoned. Sooo satisfying. Spouse had the yukkaejjang (shredded spicy beef soup with lots of gochugaru - chili flakes). Both ttukbegae bowls came with purple rice and banchan. DIVINE. Service was efficient. Polite. PRO-TIP:.They've opened a store directly next door which sells house made banchan, Korean sausage (chapsal sundae) and other prepared dishes.

Service was very friendly and phenomenal. We ordered 2 of their Kalguksu Combo's which came with a choice of meat, rice, side dishes, kimchi, and a bowl of hand pulled noodles. We went with their jaeyuk and bossam. We also ordered their mandu since we heard good things about it. I LOVED their kimchi. It was so flavorful and fresh. The side dishes were just alright. Nothing too special. I didn't really like the Jaeyuk, the flavor is there but the meat just isn't tender. But I've never had tender Jaeyuk or Bulgolgi so maybe that is just how it is. The bossam on the other hand was really delicious, tender and soft. I highly recommend it. The kalguksu was great as well. The soup was hearty and the noodles themselves were so soft with a nice chew to it. The mandu was also really good. They were so large and plump and the wrapper was so thin. This place is amazing for the price! At about $23-24 for each combo, it comes with a ton of food. And their gigantic mandu was only $13.5 for 6. Their Kimchi and Kalguksu was definitely the highlight for me and is comparable to the ones I've had in Seoul. I would definitely come back again. Also if paying by cash, it's 10% off.

We ordered the meat kalguksu, a round of dumplings and my SO ordered the kalguksu set with bulgogi. Everything was really delicious. I would say the quality of the food isn't as high as another joint nearby with the similar cuisine, but at the sametime, they more than make up for it with the large portions and lower prices and the service was great. Definitely some place we will revisit again in the future. Especially love their banchan they serve and the generous bowl of kimchi, enough for our party of 4 without us needing to ask for seconds. By the way the banchan with cabbage turns out to be the sauce for the dumplings too, which was a nice touch. Ambiance is casual and there isn't too much seating and so I feel it's a bit tight as we got the corner seats. Not really anywhere to set a purse, so definitely dress casually to avoid getting splatter from your food and bag if you tend be a messy eater like me.

Comforting Korean soft tofu stew any day…read more Buk Chang Dong is still the most popular spot in the city for Korean spicy tofu stew. It's dotted all over the city, with a popular following. My better half for one can't resist going when we are in the mood for Korean food. Especially when we encounter cool weather, as was the case during a stormy downpour outside. There are rear parking spots and it's possible to walk through the back door though staff frowned at us going through this while a group did the same later. The menu is still simple: a small selection of Korean spicy tofu stews along with dishes like Bibimbap that pale in comparison. We always order #1 & #3. Soon Tofu ($17.50) with beef, mussel, shrimp for me; kimchi, beef, pork for her. Following the individually-portioned banchan, boiling red cauldrons loaded with silky tofu arrived hot out the kitchen and we quickly cracked an egg in to cook raw. Soup broth was rich savoury seasoning plus adjustable heat. Unfortunately the Bibimbap ($19.50) only came in one level of spice in the sauce, which was a level of heat that was too spicy for our child to enjoy. We noticed the prices were raised recently. The purple rice bottom accompanying the Soon Tofu makes for a good after-meal rice soup for which I enjoy having with the refillable banchan. Do as the locals do, and we always see this restaurant packed with Koreans. They also offer a 5% cash discount at the front counter. Skip it or hit it? Hit it for a warm Korean meal especially on a cold day.
