Mmm beef tongue!
Ian C.

It's always interesting to me that this location went from being an island burger to a Korean Bbq joint then to a new Korean Bbq joint! With that said, me and my cousin decided to finally check this place out! We went on a Sunday around 2pm and was sat immediately. Definitely call ahead to accommodate parties over 8 but this place has a huge setting and will definitely work with you. Onder prepared our table and we explained to him it was our first time here and he was probably one of the best waiters I've had in a long while. He explained everything that was different between the two tier system they have here and also showed us the ramen bar and how that worked. Thanks Onder! You were awesome. The top tier menu price is 74.99 while the premium menu price is 57.99 and all were very fair prices considering all they offered. I mean all you can eat sushi and kbbq what more can you ask for?! We opted to go with the premium. You order through your phone, 5 options at a time for both the sushi and kbbq. First came out the beef tongue, beef belly, pork jowl, and ribeye. All were delicious especially the beef tongue here! The sushi order consisted of their seared items which were all awesome as well. Everything we pretty much ordered here was delicious and I had nothing to complain about. Onder made the experience even better by letting us know that they had ice cream in the end. AWESOME! Overall, I'm glad this place is still an ayce Kbbq sushi spot. The price we paid for is definitely worth it especially all the delicious meats and sushi you are able to get here. Service is top tier and arguably had one of my favorite waiters ever during my restaurant experiences. Definitely get your sushi and kbbq fix here if you have the money for it!

I was really excited to try the Supreme buffet. I love lobster. I also enjoy crispy rice. I didn't like having to use my phone to order food. The last place here gave you a tablet. Other places give you a tablet too i couldn't believe how small the lobster tail was. I thought Fish and Game required lobster to be larger. I didn't like only being able to order five pieces of sushi at a time. I did enjoy the Omakase. Other items were just average. I might return, but wouldn't get the Supreme buffet again.

Gogi Nori is a new AYCE KBBQ and sushi restaurant that opened in Irvine. Its selling point is that you can eat both KBBQ and sushi and don't need to settle for just one or the other. We made reservations on Yelp but you can also put your name on the waitlist. They have two options: premium ($57.99) and supreme ($74.99). We got the former which included a good variety of meat, sushi, and appetizer options. They also have a ramen bar where you can make instant ramen but we stuck with the KBBQ and sushi. There is a 90 minute time limit where you can order 10 items per order. You have a 4 minute gap between orders when you can order again. We used our phone to pick our food and it came out pretty quickly for us. Out of all the KBBQ options my favorites were the LA galbi, beef bulgogi, and wagyu ribeye. Out of all the sushi options my favorites were the yuzu yellowtail, crispy rice spicy tuna, and eel. Even though you can get the best of both worlds, it did feel a little weird eating salty hot meat followed by the more subtle cold fish. One thing I liked to do was to eat the sushi while the meat was cooking to give myself a break. The supreme option had things like lobster tail and blue crab but the premium option was sufficient for our needs. Neither stood out but if you're looking for both (like we were), this place is a good option and the staff were friendly.

Our first time here with hubby and our sis and our bro. Enjoyed it! Love it, everything so delicious. Our main waiter Johnoson great service, well all the waiters were all great too and Ondre also awesome and he is in one of the pictures. Had to ask for permission before I even post anyone in any pics on any public media. The ambiance is great too. Also to mention I also look for this and not always mention it on any post, bathroom in the women is good, no sewage smell etc and clean. Please everyone is a Must try, absolutely. We will be back definitely by our selves, with families and friends to enjoy.

Gogi Nori is one of the better all you can eat spots I've been to. The quality really stands out compared to typical AYCE places. The sushi tasted fresh and they actually serve real wasabi, which is a huge plus and not something you see often. The meats were just as impressive. You can tell they use premium cuts, and the wagyu had great marbling and flavor. Everything cooked well and didn't feel overly greasy or low quality like some other KBBQ spots. What also made a difference is that it's family owned, and you can feel that there's real care put into the restaurant. Service was attentive and the overall experience felt more elevated than your usual all you can eat. I would definitely come back, especially if you're looking for a place that combines both quality sushi and Korean BBQ in one spot

We came on a Thursday at 4pm and it was really empty, there was probably only two other customers there. Tiffany was one of the managers who helped us order and get to know the menu. She was so sweet and gave a small tour of the place since it just opened 3 weeks ago. My favorite part was the ramen bar!! Such a nice touch and definitely unique for a KBBQ. I'm a pretty simple eater so I didn't order any of the marinated meats (I also have trust issues of them being too sweet). The side dishes were really good and felt fresh (not old). We ordered the beef tongue, beef belly, brisket, and pork jowl. We also got some sushi and carpaccio which were pretty good quality. We got the basic dinner menu AYCE and it was still really good. Overall, I'd give this place 5/5. The staff was attentive, the ramen bar was fun, the meats were good and the vibe was clean. Not too loud. I would bring family and friends here again!

GOGI NORI @ IRVINE This place just opened up as an AYCE KBBQ place with sushi as well, they also had a ramen bar (I wouldn't recommend to really get your moneys worth.) I like how they offer the dinner options for lunch too so you're not stuck with limited selections. The workers were really on top of things and the food came out fast, they also have ice cream available after. Overall 5/5

Had a reservation today for lunch. It was not busy at all which called for a relaxing lunch. I thought I'd be coming for the lunch special but informed that the lunch special is only available on Mon-Thursday. We opted for the premium menu on Easter Sunday. Food was great. Service was good except it was a bit slow to get some items went missing but when brought up to the staff they were attentive. Wagyu ribeye was our fav. Beef tongue always a hit. Brisket good. Enjoyed the Ikura sushi, salmon sushi, yellowtail, and jalapeño seared salmon sushi. Enjoyed the tofu soup, cheese corn and steamed egg. They have sesame oil on request. The sodas come with refills. Ice cream is offered at the enjoy of the meal. Loved that there are sushi offerings as I prefer sushi over Kbbq but everyone else enjoys meat in our party.

Gogi Nori in Irvine is a solid, middle of the road spot that gets the job done if you're craving Korean BBQ without too many frills. The quality of the meat was decent, the beef belly was our favorite. It hit that baseline of what you'd expect and the sushi was good, (seared salmon and tuna) however for the crispy rice the rice its self was not very crispy at all. Service was also pretty average. The staff was attentive enough to keep things moving, but there wasn't anything especially memorable about the experience. Everything felt smooth but the plates did feel like it took a bit to come out. Overall, it's a reliable choice if you're in the area and want something consistent without high expectations. Not a place I'd go out of my way for, but I wouldn't mind coming back if I was nearby around lunch for the lunch menu. (12-2)

If you were planning to go to Chubby Cattle or Wagyu Factory or about to blow some cash on really expensive sushi, definitely give Gogi Nori a try. It will surprise you! The Beef Quality is absolutely sensational! But the key is you gotta order from the supreme tier menu to get the best cuts of BEEF! It's all about the beef. The pork and chicken choices are like other places. But the Beef Quality, the marbling of the prime wood age Galbi, prime short ribs and boneless short rib is truly perfection. Plus the grill plates that are used, makes the meat extra tasty. You can be distracted with all the sides and appetizers like sushi nachos, gyoza, corn cheese, steamed egg but nothing beats the beef selection. The perfect pairing is the ramen bar or the kimchi fried rice. Btw, the table side brisket sauce is sooooo good and picked onions and radishes inside, sooo delicious. There is also this one time order of sushi omakase. If you eat that, you will not return to the regular sushi menu. The quality of the nigiri will absolutely melt in your mouth that filled with freshness and deliciousness. It's soooo good. The service is a little wonky but they mean well and I like the seating area and layout. Learned the cute Asian guy is the owner named Brandon. My friend would love to know if you were single.

Grand Opening! Pros: Easy to make reservations on Yelp, easy to find parking, easy to be seated, and easy to order! Staff were super friendly and attentive! Restaurant and restrooms were clean! Coffee machine, included! Instant ramen station, included! Food was solid. Cons: We got the Premium tier ($57.99/pp), and didn't know that some sushi items were limited to 2 per person. There was a MAJOR delay between ordering through the QR code and getting our items. Some of the meat came still frozen. Marinated meats were WAYYY too sweet. Most importantly, the tables were SUPER smoky and the ventilation system did not seem to work at all. Bottom line: I would prefer to either have AYCE kbbq or AYCE sushi and pay less. Great staff though!

A fun new spot for kbbq and sushi. We happened to go during their soft opening. There are claw machines at the entryway which is a good way to stay entertained if you're waiting for a table. The staff are really friendly and we were able to be seated within a couple of minutes. Onder was the main person who was helping us and he frequently came to our table to make sure we had everything that we needed. We looked up the menu ahead of time to decide which tier we wanted and there is a QR code on each table that's used to order from. The food comes out fairly quickly upon order submission. Since it was a soft opening, the staff were still working on the table numbers and we received some things that we didn't order, but we were able to have it sent to the correct table. The quality of the meat is good and I really enjoyed everything that we ordered. The crispy rice had a very generous amount of fish, but the rice itself was more chewy than crispy. The rest of the sushi was very good and they use good quality fish. It was an overall good experience and I would happily return to this location.

Visited during their soft opening, so I cannot review their logistics on a typical busy day/night, but starting with service? Top notch. Every time someone passed by, they checked on me. Food came out promptly and used plates were removed almost immediately. Inside seems to be a small step up from the previous JBBQ establishment. Still clean. Same lay out. The essence and spirit of Islands still comes through with their benches. Ventilation is a huge step up though. The Japanese style claw games outside are a nice touch should this place get busy...the Squid Game Soju statues are also hilariously amazing. Order from your phone after the server has entered a PIN. I kind of like this over a standard tablet at the table. Though some may not enjoy this. What happens if my phone's battery is dying? Something I hope they've thought about. Food wise is pretty standard at the lunch special, with a lot of pros, and a few cons. The cuts were all really good except the Wagyu Brisket. Something about the cut just made it tougher than normal, almost like they were cut with the grain, but it wasn't. Beef Belly was the best item, with some of the best marbling; amazing quality. It's also nice to have pork jowl with the lower tier. Sushi was pretty good. I don't think its amazing quality, but it also wasn't the worst I've had. I think the 3 pieces per order is kind of a let down, but I can see why they did it for logistics. I will say, they need to figure out the Crispy Rice situation. Mine had stale rice, like they fried the rice yesterday, then offered it today after being in the fridge. If that's the case (for logistics) they probably need to scrap the item. it was NOT good. Kizumi available at the middle "premium" tier and above, but at a charge for the lunch special. Appetizers/sides across the board were pretty good. Although, when I think of Korean Fried Chicken, I don't think of Soy Garlic Karaage. So it's boneless, but its still pretty good and fresh. Jalapeno poppers were a surprise. Japchae and steamed egg were decent. Banchan offering was also just mid. Sprinkle some of that salt and pepper on the Mac Salad; you'll thank me. They have Ramyun bar, but I was told that it was only with the premium.... which makes sense given I DON'T WANT RAMYUN if I'm dropping $60+. All in all this place has a lot of potential and I wish them luck. I would honestly love to give them a chance at the Supreme Tier to compare and contrast with their competitors (both JBBQ and KBBQ), but we'll have to see if I can find someone to go with. It's a hard sell at ~$75 when almost no one else loves food like you!

Some of the fish is genuinely high-quality and worth the tag, but the cost across the board is what keeps it from being a perfect 5/5 for me. Pro Tip: They do validate parking, which is a huge plus! Miyabi Tai Carpaccio -- 5/5 So yummy. It has a great combination of flavors and the fish was buttery, it literally melted in my mouth. Toro Roll -- 5/5 Super tasty. Final Thoughts: Overall, all of the dishes were solid, but you're definitely paying for the experience.

Spent a good amount of time browsing Yelp and OpenTable to find a new spot to end the night. Came across TEN on yelp and I'm glad I found this spot. I made a reservation and was a little late due to a previous plan that ended a little later than expected. They sat us right away regardless and the owner greeted us. I asked Brian what his choice of drink is and the crazy thing is I scanned the menu and this drink caught my eye, which he then recommended as his go to, the Yuz it or Lose it. My girlfriend had the Lychee Rose. Started with the Chicken Gyoza and Japanese Nachos for appetizers and ordered the BG roll and Keoni roll. Throughout the night Brian would stop by and made conversation with us a couple times, super attentive and super friendly! At the end of the night Brian brought out a surprise Melted Chocolate Cake with Ice cream and chocolate drizzle & whipped cream on the side, along with what tasted like two shots that tasted like melon? I'm not sure but they were a 5/5! There is a good amount of seating inside and outside. The mix they had playing through the restaurant was absolute fire and it isn't too loud either, you can still hold a conversation without having to raise your voice. They have a parking structure and you'll receive a parking ticket which TEN validates. Yuz it or Lose it: 5/5 A very refreshing and balanced drink. Lychee Rose: 5/5 On the sweeter side but still balanced and the lychee garnish is a nice touch to end the drink Japanese Nachos: 5/5 I literally had to fight the urge to not share these with my girlfriend they're a party in your mouth. (We subbed the spicy tuna for regular tuna) Chicken Gyoza: 5/5 I'm normally a pork gyoza type of person but these were great, nice and juicy and whatever sauce they have at the bottom of the dish was bomb. I literally poured that sauce into my dipping cup instead of the soy sauce that is available BG Roll: 5/5 This roll is tasty and very fresh since there are no cooked items in/on it and the jalapeños on top are a nice touch as well, especially with a little of that sauce from the Chicken Gyoza dish Keoni Roll: 5/5 The eel sauce is a nice touch to this roll along with the jalapeño sauce that they spread on the plate. Shoutout to Brian again! You've earned repeat customers! We will be back

You won't find your typical rainbow rolls at this restaurant (I do love a good rainbow roll though). The rolls we ordered were the Snowflake (which was flavored with yuzu), the Lobster roll (which was so much more than a typical baked lobster/langostino roll), and the Are You Kidding Me roll, which was big on truffle flavor and came topped with fried onions. I thoroughly enjoyed the Snowflake roll. It had multiple types of fish inside, and the yuzu flavor added the perfect fresh citrusy touch. It also came dotted with a tiny bit of sriracha (or some other spice) but it was just a hint and it's easy to wipe off if you don't want any spice. The Lobster roll was the star of the show. I give it a 10/10 for presentation, and it was also the best tasting one in my opinion. It was plated with a shelled lobster tail, which looks visually pleasing, but the most impressive part was right before serving, the waitress lit it on fire and handed it to us, as if it were flaming creme brulee or something. The flame actually wasn't on the roll itself, but was on what appeared to be a trail of salt (presumably soaked in some kind of alcohol to make it burn). It definitely was a cool effect and I've never seen anything like it in a sushi restaurant! Lastly, the Are You Kidding Me roll - this was my third favorite out of the three we ordered. It was pretty good but I think the truffle flavor was a bit strong. I'm also personally not a huge fan of fried onions on top of sushi since I think it clashes a bit with the freshness of the fish, and gives me too many bar food vibes. But it certainly was flavorful and my husband and I still finished it. We shared these three sushi rolls between the two of us and it was just the right amount of food to leave feeling full. Besides the food, the restaurant itself was nice although I'm not sure they really needed to have a live DJ there as opposed to having a Spotify Playlist. Didn't bother me but I don't think it really added much to the vibe. I would definitely eat here again!

Toyko nacho (recommend) : it was messy to eat and had a kick of spice. I didn't mind the mess though. Lots of different flavors. Uni hotate yuzu: scallops topped with uni. Eating it was like butter. Sour flavor profile from the yuzu. A bit overpowering. And the maldon sea salt was interesting. So you get the texture of buttery soft from the scallop and uni and a crunch factor from the salt. 5pc Salmon nigiri: so fatty and buttery! If you love salmon then definitely get this. The presentation was so cute. It lays on a bed of ice. And throughout the dinner the pieces of salmon were chilled. Monster nigiri (recommend) : I don't think anything about this when my honey suggested order this. But once it got to the table and we ate it. Wow! This dish flavors stood out to me. The crispy sweet onions and sauce perfected the meal. Dragon: It was pretty tasty and decent. I know my honey liked it a lot. He prefers not to eat raw fish, so this was to his liking (I recommend to those who don't eat raw fish). Truffle essence (recommend) : The taste of truffle is weirdly addicting. The presentation was eye catching because the candle is keeping the truffle butter warm. The concept of dipping or pouring the truffle butter onto the roll was a fun way of eating. Snowflake roll: A lot of reviews mentioned this was a popular dish. I can see why it was popular. It's literally a bunch of fish in a roll! Haha, fish lover this would be perfect to order. Crunchy roll: It was a decent roll, but a bit dryer than I expected. Orders and ratings: Tokyo nacho 9/10. Uni hotate yuzu 10/10. 5pc Salmon nigiri 10/10. Monster 11/10. Dragon 8/10. Truffle essence 9/10. Snowflake roll 10/10. Crunchy roll 6/10. Thank you!

We ordered takeout from Hako for dinner and I loved it! The food was delicious and the prices were…read morereasonable, and it was also high quality. I had to call in my order (they are on Doordash but the prices are lower if you call). It would be nice if you could order through their website, but it's not a big deal. We got shrimp tempura, chicken katsu with a side of curry, and an Alaskan roll. The food was all delicious! My daughter could not get enough of the Alaskan roll. It's simple and classic, especially if you love salmon. The chicken katsu was really good and I enjoyed dipping it in the curry. They don't offer potatoes or carrots in their curry sauce like some other Japanese restaurants do, which was a small disappointment, but I still really liked the curry. It had that "spicy" but not spicy flavor that comes from all the flavorful spices like ginger that are in the curry, but it wasn't hot (we ordered mild). The chicken katsu was a good portion side and it came with a side of rice and angel hair shredded cabbage. Cabbage isn't the most exciting vegetable, but I'll take it. The shrimp tempura was great too. The takeout bag was packaged really nicely and the katsu came in a fancy little box, so even though we were eating at home it felt a little more upscale. But the prices were pretty on par with other sushi restaurants around here, so it's definitely affordable!

The food here is solid and the portions are extremely generous. Small place, but feels solidly cozy…read morewith extremely friendly staff. They serve their food in trays, which helps keep everything together. Also, love the chopsticks since they're nice and smooth so I won't fear getting splinters. I will say, if you come with friends and everyone wants curry, you only need to order a few curries on the side since the serving of curry they provide is... abundant. The cheese tonkotsu was honestly pretty heavy, lots lots of cheese. Honestly, I wouldn't get it again since I didn't feel like I got much meat simply because of how much cheese there was. I'm sure there was pork, it just felt like an extension of the breading. Every order off the main course section of the menu (fried things) come with miso soup, a side salad, and pickled side dishes that are extremely refreshing. Pork over Chicken for sure.
