Took a group of employees to Gogi for dinner Tuesday night. Enjoyed good food and good company. The different selections of meat in the All You Can Eat menu were solid. I think we tried everything but the spicy chicken and beef brisket were the favs of the group. Lots of sides and rice. Nobody left hungry that's for sure lol!! Service was great as well. Our main server was consistently checking on us and getting refills very fast. There were several other servers who stopped by as well. They changed the grilled quickly so we could keep cooking and stuffing our faces. Place was WAY bigger than I expected from the outside with plenty of seating and private-ish spaces. My dining partner and I opted for the all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ, and we definitely got our money's worth. There was an impressive variety of meats, seafood, and sides to choose from. One of my favorite moments was tossing an entire crawfish onto the grill--it looked like it was posing for the camera before becoming dinner. Every table has its own built-in grill. The meats were fresh, and we loved grilling everything at our own pace. Between bites, it was fun walking around to see all the different options before heading back for "just one more plate"...which, of course, turned into several more. Whether you're celebrating, on date night, or just showing up hungry with friends, this is a great spot to spend a couple of hours enjoying good food and conversation. My boyfriend and I were craving KBBQ, so we decided to try Gogi-en. He's been here before and brought home galbi and marinated galbi that were amazing. Because of that experience, we came in with high expectations and were really excited. At first, I liked this restaurant for its cleanliness and cute decor. The overall ambiance gave a very pleasant first impression. However, my experience today was quite disappointing. I was not satisfied with the service or the food quality. When the server brought us to our table, she seated us at the front near the entrance by the snack corner. We asked if we could move to a table in the back, but she told us those tables were for non-bbq guests. We were okay with that and stayed. However, shortly after, we saw other parties being seated in the back and eating KBBQ. That felt inconsistent and honestly disappointing. We ordered the yookhwe (beef tartare) bibimbap ($20.95), the Korean beef BBQ combo for two ($119.99), prime rib ($44.95), and makgeolli. Honestly, the portions were lot smaller than I expected for the price. Brisket only came with 6 thick pieces and galbi came with 9 to 12 pieces depending on how you cut them. The last straw was just seeing 10 small pieces of prime rib. As for the taste, it was decent but not the best. The banchan, doenjang jjigae, and steamed egg were good, but the beef was tough and hard to chew. The sauce on the marinated galbi actually hardened like candy after grilling and stuck to my teeth and the plate. We cooked most of our meat ourselves, which we didn't mind, but it seemed like our server was busy with other tables. Overall, I was disappointed and probably won't be back. If you've never had KBBQ, it might still be worth (?) a try considering for the authentic experience, but I don't think the service, portions or quality make it worth the price. read more

Came here on a snowy day in December and was craving hot soup. Of course I ordered the galbitang!! The galbitang is packed with a thick cut of short rib that they cut table side. As well as loaded with egg ribbons, onions, scallions, and glass noodles. I thought the soup was a little too heavily salted and lacking in sweetness as it did not have any daikon, but otherwise very flavorful and umami, 4/5. The steamed egg was overcooked and a bit chewy rather than soft and fluffy unfortunately, 2/5. The banchan were all delicious 5/5. My husband got the doenjang jiggae which he enjoyed! Took my very picky parents here for lunch and they ended up loving it. All 3 of us got the bento box lunch in varieties: pork bugolgi, bugolgi, galbi. I thought the quality and presentation were great. However, I thought the portions were skimpy. The meat and salad portions could have been a bit bigger. I loved the veggie fried mandu dumplings and the fish tofu marinated strips. I don't like kimchi nor the sour preserved turnips so I gave them all to my mom who loved them. I'd rather they be different bonchon like bean sprouts, tofu, or sliced potatoes. I wish it could've come with a small soup as well to balance everything out. There were only 2 other tables and the server, while nice, would disappear for long stretches of time and not check in on us. I had to walk around looking for her to ask about things. I grabbed to-go containers on my own for my table. The space is really nice and converted from a Japanese hibachi place that used to be here. The decor, the tables, the TV screens featuring popular dishes and Korean food travel clips were appropriate and fun to watch while waiting for food. There is a small market with Korean snacks and soju to buy. No prices for anything though! I had to ask the server who had a little trouble finding the individual items on her scanner. Turns out the snacks only had a nominal upcharge from CAM or Park to Shop so I bought those amazing honey twists too! I recently discovered my love for Korean cuisine so I was excited to try this place out. We went for an early dinner on Saturday and almost had the place to ourselves. The gimmari tempura appetizer was delicious and came with 3 dipping sauces. Loved the fun texture of that dish. We also really enjoyed the dolsot bibimbap. I was not a fan of the yukgaejang which was unfortunate but I think that's likely just my personal preference. read more

Update: never disappointed when I come. So delicious!!! Sometimes the dishes aren't as good as they last were which is the only downside. But then I come back again and it's even more delicious that is my only critique- the inconsistency of the some of the dishes when we come back to eat on a different occasion. But I'm aware of how hard staffing is and restaurant business is hard so I'm not going to dock points just because of that. We came to Akron for a quick overnight visit and decided to grab some authentic Korean food nearby. We found this new restaurant in Solon. Friendly staff and service. There's plenty of parking as it is in a strip mall area. Reservations are recommended if you want BBQ. If you're only getting non-BBQ, there is a different seating section for that. The food is made to order and delicious. For a place with no Korean groceries nearby, I was impressed with the flavors of our meal. It isn't quite NYC Koreatown or the DMV area level or even SKorea. It still hits the spot & is full-bodied flavorful when you're surrounded by burgers, pasta, and pizza. It's definitely a positive addition to the area! read more

Amazing Korean BBQ place. We had the combo meal and our favorite was the marinated ribs were delicious! All the side dishes and the soup (soon dobu) were amazing too - my daughter even ate rice with mixture of the soondobu! Our server was so super helpful and kind in making sure we were well fed since we were also busy managing our baby, feeding her. The restaurant was clean and we loved that it was so well ventilated! One of the worst Korean bbq I've had. I'm from socal the Mecca of Korean bbq. Not only was it expensive the quality of meat was horrible. the short rib was tough and the brisket were cut too thick and also tough and yes we cooked it. Medium rare. Besides that you cook on a ceramic plate instead of an actual grill so there's not fire contact on the meat at all so your meat is basically boiling in iits own sauce. Really surprised to find an authentic Korean restaurant here, I was driving to Chicago and simply making a stop outside of Cleaveland. Walking in the staff was super friendly, took us to the table. The place is huge with a very modern decor, there's plenty of space between tables. Our waitress was very nice, we ordered cold noodles, soondubu, and Galbi BBQ. They gave us a free drink on the house and a free appetizer. The banchan dishes were delicious. The main meal, both cold noodles and soondubu were excellent, Galbi BBQ came with so much meat it was a great deal for the price. My only criticism is the Galbi meat was not as juicy and tender as I had in other places, maybe it was overcooked, otherwise I would gicve this olace a five star. I was excited to hear about a Korean place opening on the East side. After reading the reviews, I had high hopes of authenticity. First, the place is beautiful and spacious, and only opened a few months ago. Servers were polite but not very knowledgeable about the menu, even though fare is quite standard. Seafood pancake, japchae, soondubu are our usuals when note having bbq. The seafood pancake had the right flavors, but wasn't a pancake at all. Instead, it was basically an egg omelette with seafood, whereas it should be more of a crispy batter like a scallion pancake. Japchae noodles weren't even on the menu, which is a staple of Korean restaurants. (Even Bibibop chain like Chipotle has it!) The soondubu (spicy tofu stew) had the different varieties available (eg, beef, seafood, etc), but they don't allow you to specify spice level, which is standard for this dish. The stew did not have any flavor except for spice, and instead of a whole egg, there was only yolk. It was quite disappointing to say the least. However, if you are going for bbq that tastes good but isn't necessarily authentic, it's at least an ok option for that for east siders. read more

Very very good food. We've been to a few Cleveland local Korean spots and this by far is our new favorite. The dumplings were real and homemade and everything you could wish for in a dumpling. The scallion pancakes- amazing. Bulgogi was oh so good. Our kids were not feeling adventurous and they made accommodations to the fried pork to make a fried chicken dish for them. The atmosphere is comfortable and casual and cool and service was great. The owner came over to chat and offered our kids some fun Korean treats to take home. My husband says it's the ''most fire" so we will definitely be going back soon. read more

Unlike the multitude of "Korean BBQ" places opening up everywhere, a really good Korean BBQ needs to be in a really good Korean restaurant. Fortunately for Solon, a really good Korean restaurant and BBQ can be found in Gogi En K BBQ! The service is great and the food is wonderful! Traditional Korean food including soups, stews, bibimpap, and gimpap were available as well as sushi and yummy appetizers. The Korean BBQ, though, was the star! We got the combo with marinated short rib, pork and chicken. It comes with dumplings, 6 banchan dishes, soup, salad and steamed eggs so it was a very filling meal. One of the most authentic, tasty and clean Korean restaurants ever! This is on par with the best Korean food in L.A. K-Town. We had two gimbap selections with the Gogi EN with bulgogi and short rib being the tastiest. The seafood pancake and pork dumplings were delicious and great for sharing. The spicy pork bulgogi was the table favorite from all the entrees we tried!! So much flavor and great spice. The bulgogi bibimbap was very tasty but I'll be getting the spicy pork bulgogi next time. The owners and staff were extremely generous and welcoming. The complimentary sweet yogurt is the perfect ending. They have a pantry shop as well for various ramen, shrimp crackers and sweet breads. We were impressed with some of the brands of ramen that we can't even find at Kim's Oriental Food. Lychee martini was delicious and the selections of soju. The food comes on silver trays, which makes it really convenient to share. We like to order different meals so we can sample more of the menu. The proportions were good and the service was great.
