This year we picked a whole bunch of donut peaches as well as some blackberries! Currently they have yellow peaches, white peaches, donut peaches, nectarines, and blackberries for u-pick. If you are short on time or just don't feel like doing easy labor, ha, they have a farm stand with all these already picked for sale as well. They take cash or check. Living in Florida, I later ordered a few jars, and everything went smoothly. This week, I placed a new, larger order and the box arrived with a shattered jar of peanut butter from shoddy packaging. I'm a pretty sophisticated internet shopper, and in my experience, retailers have always shipped a replacement item or issued a refund in situations like this. Here, the burden was fully put on the consumer to create a USPS account and file a claim, which is actually pretty time consuming (e.g., taking screenshots, resizing photos so that they're compatible with the USPS system, emailing with Medders to get documents, etc.). Indeed, there are many customers who would not have the technology even to file a claim. Since the insurance associated with the package was included in the USPS shipping fee which I paid (plus some), this practice allows Medders to keep the full amount of my purchase price but has me deal with the frustrating effects of their poor packaging. What's more, customers cannot even file a valid claim without documents from Medders, which the business does not readily have available. Very disappointing. I get that they're a small operation, but don't hold yourself out as a legitimate business if you're not going to act accordingly.

There is a wide variety of farm animals for kids (and grown-ups too!!) to interact with including goats, alpaca and a llama!! The Phillips family are some of the kindest folks I've come across. The truly care about keeping everything local and giving back to their community. OH, and I can't forget about the honey! As local as you can get with it being produced by bees right on thier farm. They offer u pick blueberries, they make their own goat cheese, eggs, and honey. They also sell a lot of organic and sustainable vegetables and grains. They are also really nice and will take time to educate you about what they sell. We first went there to buy our own bread making supplies and equipment and they took time to educate us about the process. They are just off of Redland Road so they are only about 15 minutes from some parts of Lake Martin. Call ahead to make sure they are open but Saturdays are a great day to go all year. Let the kids feed the goats as you get your own locally made organic food.

They made some serious improvements here since we last came…read more Tons of cute areas to take photos and a plethora of new activities. More areas where you can sit and lounge while the kids play and super organized parking. Lots of fresh air and space to spread out enjoy. More vendors who sold yummy treats like pops and kono ice. Our family had a ball and it will go down as one my favorite memories this year. It wasn't crowded when we went which made it more enjoyable. We didn't have to wait in line because they kept things moving at a good speed. Workers were just the sweetest humans on earth who helped my elderly father on and off the wagon. Loved that they had smaller pumpkins this year for toddlers and small children to pick up. There was also a tiny train ride. I really do hope they can lengthen the time frame past October into a week or two in November. If you go to only one patch in October let it be Helena Hallow though. Huge tip! Be sure to wear comfy shoes that can get dirty. It's a farm so there's lots of mud. It's hilly so wear comfy tennis shoes or boots. Definitely keep the heels and sandals at home. Also they seem to allow water bottles so bring one if you spend a whole day out here.

I bought my Mahindra at the Co-OP in Starkville. I don't think Bubba cares if he sells anything…read moreor not. I was there a couple of times while shopping for a tractor and he wasn't very helpful. I did buy a gallon of oil from them since then and there seemed to be a lot of confusion on how to ring it up. Maybe if Bubba was a little more ambitious, they would sell enough to learn how to work the cash register.
