Veteran's Park in Alabaster is such a great outdoors venue! I use the walking track around the park as often as I can. The park is a large, multi-use area with trails, playgrounds, and a dog park, with amenities like pavilions, restrooms, and concessions. It hosts baseball/softball tournaments, has a skatepark, disc golf, pickleball courts, and a memorial area with inscribed bricks for veterans. The park is ADA accessible and offers activities for all ages, including fishing in its ponds. There's so much here, I haven't yet explored all of it! One drawback is goose droppings around the walking trails so walk/run carefully! Altogether I can bear with all that as long as I get to share the park with the Canadian Geese! read more

Veterans Park in Alabaster, Alabama was the scene during my short time in the area. The park is definitely beautiful and spent the entire weekend here - from Saturday AM to Sunday AM in late October 2023. An endurance running event was held here on park grounds on the last weekend of October 2023. I arrived here at Veterans Park around 7:30 AM on a Saturday morning in October 2023. I spent majority of the day and overnight into the next day here in the park while doing the event mentioned. Everything seems so different at night versus being in the zone during the day. The park itself was beautiful at night more so than during the day. It was definitely peaceful at night and into the next morning. I felt safe here especially late at night while the event was going on. It was nice that the park was kept safe and no weirdos from the public came to bother anyone who was here at the park. I particularly enjoyed the fountain that was active during the night and passing the ballpark where there was a game during the Saturday daylight I was there. Veterans Park is definitely beautiful yet small in nature. You can circumnavigate the perimeter of the park. It's about a mile around and it has 3 pavilions with shade for anyone and everyone to enjoy a day or just maybe an afternoon here. The path around the park is paved and well maintained. There's about 4 benches around the path that's not attached to any pavilion. It's quite serene here and glad to have experienced it during my time here in Alabaster. The overall experience here at Veterans Park in Alabaster, Alabama was pretty good and inspiring. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the park and definitely got memories that will last a lifetime. I enjoyed walking along the bridge that sits over the small pond in the park. I wonder if there is anything that swimming in there. The park is self was well maintained by the city of alabaster. It is quite grooms and definitely pretty. I was glad that the fountain was active all day and all night while I was there. It was definitely nice to hear the fountain. Every time I circled the perimeter of the park. It was definitely an Enjoyable experience to be here at this park in alabaster, Alabama. there is a playground equipment on the grounds too, but I did not participate in that. It was nice that they have other forms of entertainment here at this park, but it was not for me. Just enjoying the beauty of this park while I was doing my thing was good enough. Being outside and enjoying nature is always a good thing, especially when work is always bother and you need a place to decompress. What better way than to come to alabaster, Alabama and veterans Park to enjoy such a place. I spent about one and a half days here and it was an enjoyable one. There is public restrooms here, but they are limited to signing hours of the day. Although the restrooms are nice and welcomed, they should be cleaner. It just seems like they don't really take care of the restrooms as much as they should seems like it's just basically cleaning, but I'm sure that they can do more it. It just seems like it has seen better days. Not sure about water fountains and what not but at least they have bathrooms here and plenty of parking for anybody and everybody to use. And so, if you are here in the area, consider coming to veterans Park to hang out and take a rest, if you are passing through and want to enjoy some nature, that is Alabama. Veterans Park is located at 7305 Hwy 119 in beautiful Alabaster, Alabama. Like all major community parks across the country, there is no admission fee. Just come as you are and you'll be OK. As far as parking goes, you have a front row seat in parking, as they have a lot of generous parking here, near to the park bathrooms. For the most part though, I enjoyed myself here at this park from my time here. It's quite safe during the day and certainly at night while most people are sleeping. Although I did hear a loud Halloween house party go off nearby from 7pm till about 11:30pm the night I was here on October 28, 2023, it didn't seem like it was a problem with the noise. Best bet would be to have your own private vehicle or rent one to get here from your hotel or home. If nothing else, there's always Uber or Lyft to get you to this slice of serendipity. I'm not sure about the local public transportation system they have here in Alabaster, or whether the metro Birmingham extends its service to Alabaster and the surrounding communities. Veterans Park is great for just about anyone who wishes to play and experience the outdoors. They have practically everything you'd need here for a nice day or evening at the park. Although there are no swimming pools that I could see, there is a large enough pond on site, but I'm assuming it's not for human use. Still, a nice park to visit and definitely a place where you can run 1 mile loops til your heart's content. 5.0 stars for the overall experience. Support local! A+ read more

I'm usually at Veteran's Park in Alabaster when there is a soccer tournament hosted here or for individual games throughout the season. I was super excited several years ago when the city announced they would be adding soccer fields. There is a combination of grass fields and turf fields. Throughout construction, I would come through to see how it was all built. Pretty interesting. They've recently added a couple pavilions by the soccer fields, which is great for the tournament when the referees need an area to get out of the sun between games. Also glad that there are now bathrooms nearby. Eventually a small concession building might be great to have since getting up and down 119 can be a pain, and there aren't any food options. Maybe with an ice machine and either the club or other groups could set up as an option to fundraise. The only other downside is having only one entrance and exit. Can get backed up if there is a big event, though the city is really good about having an officer available to direct traffic. read more

I love this park ! There are great walking trails, new soccer fields and redone baseball fields. And this past year, they've added pickleball courts and a nice new playground for the children. The dog park is great - the turf there keeps it from getting muddy after rainy days, with the only warning from me is to keep a feel on it when the weather's blistering hot. The turf may get too hot for your puppie's paws. My only request from the park dept. is to fix the splash pad. We've been coming here nine years, and when it was parking, it was great fun! read more

Really nice park. Came here to use the dog park. Excellent parking and really pretty. The dog park is really nice. There are some nice water features which is good on a hot day. The ground is astro turf instead of grass so that was a little surprising but the dogs didn't seem to mind. Our dogs didn't care for the fountains but they did like the baby pools. It was nice to be able to put them in there to cool off as it was really hot. There are picnic tables that are covered that you can sit at while your dogs play. This is a little far from our house so probably won't come here too often but I think we'll be back again. read more

I honestly don't get the big deal about this park. If you like spiffy ball fields, pickle ball and dogs its your jam . Many people don't have their dogs on a leash which is required by law and it says that on a sign on the trail. It's a soggy mess after it rains , there is no trees for shade. There is no way to park by the pavilions if you wanted to picnic. You would have to lug your crap all the way to the pavilions and this is if you rented them. Oh and they have disc golf as this is the new fad. I'm not impressed at all sorryx This will b my only time going to this over rated park. I've seen better !! It's also pretty crowded at most times. This is a great park! One thing to keep in mind, on the weekends it can get extremely busy during baseball season. They have tournaments here and all of the fields are packed - which takes up quite a few parking spaces. They have a great running/walking track that goes around the out part of the park and loops around in a variety of ways to give you different overall lengths - if you're tracking that sort of thing. The star of the show, here, is the dog park! Hands down one of the nicest ones I've ever seen. Big dog and little dog sides so you can keep the smaller pups safe from the bigger clumsy critters that are hyper focused on ... ball ... ball .... ball .... squirrel. Absolutely beautiful park. IMMACULATE Dog park fenced in with an entire playground for the fur babies. Beautiful ducks to view. Nice little ponds with water sprinklers in the center. The grass was nice and plush. The park was beautifully kept. I surprised my partner with her first ever picnic here and it was everything I wanted it to be in an experience for her. It was my first time visiting this park as well and she's from Mississippi so it was definitely her first visit. I will definitely return in the future with my fur baby or just with my family to get outta the house. read more

Veterans Park is one of my favorite places in Alabaster. I've been bringing my kids here since they were itty bitty and we've always enjoyed it. There are two playgrounds, one is a newer, toddler friendly play area with slides and climbing walls and monkey bars. There are also baby swings and a special needs lounger type swing. The other playground is older, but still in good shape. There is a lovely walking trail with benches scattered along it, in case you're like me and THINK you're in shape, but discover you actually aren't. There is a large field in the middle of the park where you can throw a frisbee or fly a kite, and on certain nights in the summer they will play movies on an inflatable screen. There are also ball fields and batting cages. Also on the grounds is a dog park! The chain link enclosed area is the perfect place to take your pooch to play with others. read more

Veterans park in alabaster has everything I could wish for, except enough parking. Most of the time it's not an issue. But get 20 peewee baseball teams playing and every space is taken along with all the flat, grassy areas. This park has several ball fields, a skate park, miles if walking trails, lakes, ponds, bridges, and a wonderful dog park. The dog park was built with a $20k grant from Beneful about 5 years ago. The dog park is divided into a small dog and a larger dog sections. Small dog section is great however occasionally there is a super aggressive dog on the large dog side. read more

Super frustrating that tax dollars go to a fancy park we no longer feel safe using. Really need more police coverage or at least security cameras in the area. We just visited this park with our 7-pound Maltese for the first time last week. It's a beautiful park with paved walking trails, multiple covered-over pavilions with picnic tables, trees, water, playgrounds, and baseball fields. The dog park is super--with agility equipment, water splash pad, baby pools, and lots of room to run. The AstroTurf is a nice touch, as are the covered tables and conversation area. Unfortunately, people don't pick up after their pets very well so you have to watch where you step. It was very quiet on the "little dog" side--we were the only ones there so it was a bit boring for my dog. Plus, the splash pad wasn't turned on, so that we a bummer. But we will definitely be back--hopefully there will be more little guys there when we go. The "big dog" side was hopping though. Unfortunately, some of the owners weren't controlling their aggressive dogs and several people left rather than risking their dogs getting hurt. This is a great facility and an asset to the greater Birmingham area. Thanks to Beneful dog food for the grant money that made it all possible! read more

If you are traveling, it's a bit off the road but well worth it for your dogs. It will wear them OUT! So many activities for them and it is one of the cleanest dog parks I have been to. It is split into 2 sides. 1 for big dogs and 1 for little. both sides offer same experience for the dogs. Bigger dog side is bigger because, well, they are bigger. I don't even know how to express how much I love going to this place. If I loved closer, I would take my dog daily! There is an area for smaller dogs (under 30 lbs, I think) and one for large dogs. Both sides have a splash pad which our large dog loves. The are plentiful benches (both shaded and not) for owners, water fountains for both pooches and owners, and, now, lights! There are pretend rocks for the pups to climb, tennis balls all over, agility hoops and tunnels and plenty of wide open space for running. Most owners are very diligent about pooper scooping (there are 3 or 4 stations around the park that are kept stocked with supplies, and garbage is kept emptied). read more

WARNING! I love this park. But, do NOT ever take your dog to the dog park. We've had dogs all our lives and visited parks all over the country. However, early on, other dog owners warned us to be careful as some dogs are very aggressive here. On many occasions we have left the park because dogs were too aggressive and owners were NOT in control of their dogs. This happens about 3 out of 5 visits. I've never experienced a dog park like that. Today, our 7 month old lab was attacked totally unprovoked. It was violent and he's got several facial injuries. It was awful, but I am thankful it wasn't a child that was attacked. The park itself is beautiful! Staff are super friendly and maintain the park well. But too many unsocialized and untrained dogs. They have two completely separate playground areas, several covered pavilions for picnics, baseball fields, walking trails, and a skate park if you're into skate boarding. I have two pitbulls a breed most people would argue as being aggressive yet every time I bring my dog they are attacked by other dogs over and over until my girlfriend or I have to remove someone else's dog off of ours. That makes me mad and my girlfriend and I'm sure our fur babies don't appreciate it either. 95% of people clean up after their dogs which I love because it is turf and if we all want a nice place for our dogs we have to help maintain it! Long story short! If you're dog is dog aggressive please do not try and bring them because that could end bad for any dogs involved and no one deserves that stress! A staple for my family Veteran's Park is a wonderfully maintained public park. In the spring and summer crowds can get a bit overwhelming, however; the acreage is more than sufficient to handle the crowds it draws. The park has 2 playgrounds with equipment for all ages, permanent bathrooms with running water, batting cages, a skate park, baseball fields, soccer nets/ fields, a dog park, a few ponds, an 18 hold disc golf course and an asphalt trail running throughout spanning a few miles for walking, running and biking. My son and I love to ride bikes here and play disc golf. Holes 2-6 can get a bit swampy after considerable rain; nonetheless, a great location with a fantastic course appropriate for beginners and children. We throw discs every opportunity we get. The skate shop attached to the skate park sells discs. If you are a dog person this is the highest end dog park I've ever seen. I'm told there isn't a comparable dog park in Birmingham. My children love seeing the variety various breeds of dogs going to and from the park. Its very common to meet friendly owners and pets happy to stop and let a couple kids love on them for a minute or two. My son is allergic and this limited contact doesn't affect him and he quite enjoys it as do the animals and proud owners. read more

My husband and I have walked the trails around the big fields and appreciate the water fountains dispersed throughout the park. The dog park has divided areas for large and small dogs. The park was very nice, had some nice walking trails. But the best thing for us was the dog park! We are new to taking our dogs to dog parks, but this was the best one we have seen. The park had turf, so not dusty/messy at all. There was a nice place for people to sit and watch. Also watering stations and cleanup stations (which we unfortunately had to use).
