Update: this issue still remains unresolved. Still waiting on a call back from the owner after weeks of playing phone tag. I'm sure there are kind people who work here, but we are very dissatisfied with our experience. We trusted this facility to properly monitor and care for our Australian Shepherd while we were away, paying around $50 per night plus tip. When we picked him up yesterday, we were told he had a hotspot and had been favoring one leg. At pickup, his foot was very red, but there was no visible blood. By the time we got him home, his foot was noticeably bleeding and the condition was worse than we were led to believe. This was not something that happened overnight and should have been attended to. Today we took him to the vet, where we learned that infection had already set in. The visit cost us an additional $150, and he is currently unable to put weight on his foot and will need at least a week to recover. We attempted to contact the facility through both the website and email and have yet to receive any response. While we understand mistakes can happen, this situation is not acceptable. I would encourage anyone looking for attentive care and communication to look elsewhere. read more

My oldest dog has been going for boarding off and on for 12 years. I love that they all know who he is - even new staff! Same for my newest dog who has gone to day care once every week or two for about 5-6 months. They all know him too, partly because he's so energetic, and he plays endlessly! He has been in puppy training and they have helped me reinforce good habits and giving him time outs so he can decompress from all of the doggy stimulation. I wanted to leave this review because I believe their score on Yelp should be much higher! My youngest is a Husky mix and my oldest is a pug. read more

DO NOT board your pets here OR take them here for daycare! First and last time ever. Neglectful and rude staff. They use nasty community collars that will give your dogs a rash and sores all over their necks and chests, along with coming home with kennel cough, costing you $170+ at the vet. Management and employees just act dumb when confronted about the issues at hand when they were informed at the same time the vets were regarding the shampoo they use and the environment of the facility. Still continue to not take responsibility weeks later yet even admitted to having other dogs have the same issues when talking to management the first time about it. read more

Very bad people. They cannot be trusted. They took money for kennel and kept my dog in a stinky dingy place full of poo and pee. When I asked for reason the lady at front desk was irritated and didn't have any professionalism in her behavior or answers. Their deeds will come back to them. They themselves are collecting curses from the innocent speechless creatures. Payback time will come. read more

This used to be the only place I would board my dog. BEWARE if you have special instructions. Because they dropped the ball, I am now headed toward a $4,600 surgery. I had written (via email & boarding confirmation) & verbal (via phone and in person) instructions. I was assured they would be followed. No one there seems to know what happened, but when I picked my dog up, he could not use his hind leg at all and was in a lot of pain. He had been fine for weeks prior to his stay & my special request had only been as a precaution. I understand they are busy, but if they couldn't accommodate a special request, they should have said so up front. read more

My review is ONLY for the dog park facilities, I have never used the groomer or boarding facilities. We have been members here since we moved to the area in February. It's walking distance from our home, and very convenient since we have an active German Shepherd husky mix. The card access system is convenient and the hours have been good so far. It's nice that temperament is tested to ensure a positive experience for all dogs. It's normal for some dogs to play rough, so it's important to know that your dog may get in a few tussles and it's not because the other dog is aggressive or mean, that's just how they socialize and play. The grounds are always well kept and never over crowded. Staff seems to be good about restricting people if their dog (or the person) seems to be problematic, which is convenient. They have monthly payment plans or you can get a discounted rate if you pay for several months in advance. There's a nice refreshing pool for them to cool off in. I've met some wonderful people here who are very kind and welcoming dog owners. We really use the entirety of the dog park from the free poop bags to the small hiking trail. This place has been a savior for us with a dog who loves to run and play freely off leash. read more

I am furious with Lucy's grooming experience. My regular dog groomer that is out in the boonies, in Woodstock did 10 times better of a job for 35 dollars. Her normal groomer will ask how short I want her cut, they give me options in person and take care of everything else. They bathe, groom, clip her nails and paws as best they can in an hour. As soon as she is done they call me and she comes out looking like a show dog. Even though she can be difficult. The only reason we chose this location is: 1) we thought you guys were professionals and would treat our girl with love 2) we are currently staying around that area. I knew you guys were more expensive and was ok with that, but I expected a damn good job, especially when she was there most of the day. When we got home, she was EXHAUSTED and dehydrated, she drank two bowls of water straight. She would have drank more but we didn't want her to make herself sick. We had to do her training class right after we picked her up and even the instructor noticed it. She slept the whole evening and night. I know that she had some knots which I tried to cut off and also that she can be difficult (she is still a puppy after all), but yall should be used to dealing with these situations. Now on to her hair cut. Her tail, her ears, her paws, and face all look terrible, and her nails were not done. She wasn't bathed, and treated like crap. I'm not the type that usually complains or files complaints but when it comes to my children and to my dog, I see red. Obviously I was not there and don't know the whole story but no matter what this is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. I hope you find a way to improve your services, but we will not be returning. On a positive note, we have been VERY satisfied with her obedience classes. I will recommend these to friends and family. read more

Great staff to care for your fur babies. Dogs get to stay out all day and play. They come home exhausted!

I boarded my dog here and after picking her up I noticed a rash on her neck. Veterinarian said it was the collar that they used on her while there. When I spoke to Cahaba Beach Dog Park about this they were very dismissive. She said they had had this problem before... almost $200 vet bill and they could not have cared less. Why they take your dog's collar off and put a used collar on is beyond me. It's the first thing they do at the check in process. I will never use this facility again! read more

Cahaba Beach Dog Park - Next day - Dog Parks Near Me - Birmingham, Alabama

We were one of the first families that joined CBDP when they opened. Our dog loved going there and became the office dog upfront. This is when Stacy and her parents were running the show. Now I have 2 different dogs that were going to doggie daycare Mon-Fri when I received my VISA bill the month of June and I noticed way too many charges. Charges that were not approved. Address this matter with Tiffany for several months afterwards b/c every month it was an issue. This was never resolved nor were we told as how it happened. Our 2 dogs no longer go to daycare instead are staying home in the backyard. Tiffany advised me the reimbursement check would be mailed of $1180. Well, it has been 3 weeks and we have not received it. I refused to give them my new VISA # due to what & how things happened. Today is Thurs and I have left numerous phone messages with no reply back. What kind of service do you think your dog is really getting?? Plus, you might want to check your credit card statement from this past year! read more

We were not shown the facilities except when asked to see 'suites' area. It reeked of urine. Though I understand some dogs are not trained but would expect constant upkeep. We paid additional per day for daycare thinking our pup would at least get to play outdoor and won't be locked inside all the time but daycare meant all day outdoor so he came home with sunburn and limping because of blisters on his paws. We were not taken to see the outdoor area but certain they do have umbrellas. However, we don't know how crowded it was and if there were enough shady spots for all. All day outdoor in the summer was brutal. I suppose all is normal condition under boarding facilities so we will not be boarding ours again. read more

I cannot praise this organization enough! Cahaba Beach Dog Park is one of the most superior businesses with which I have had the pleasure of working. My husband and I were planning a road trip, moving from Alaska to Virginia and had lined up a sitter in Virginia to watch our dog for 5 weeks. Unfortunately were suddenly left in a bind when our sitter fell through at the last minute. We had planned to fly our dog to Virginia and then travel to northern Alabama to see family on our journey back through the states, so we began looking for boarders in the Birmingham area. Our dog, Toby, is our only child and of course, we were nervous about leaving him just anywhere. We needed a boarding facility in our price range, and with a 5 week availability, that would give us peace of mind. Corin was our first point of contact and she was helpful in checking for availability, explaining policies and assuring us that Toby would be in good hands. They took multiple calls from me and always answered questions patiently and thoroughly. When I told another staff member that our guy (a rescue) had displayed some food aggression in the past, she told me not to worry and assured me that the owner, also a trainer, could handle the situation if it were to arise. One of our biggest concerns was staying within our price range. Having missed out on a free sitter, and having to pay for 5 weeks of boarding, was a definite worry for us. We stressed to the staff that we needed the most cost effective space possible. When they explained that those rooms were already booked up on the weekends, (of course) I began to panic; at this point I was emotionally invested in this place. The wonderful staff there was understanding and explained that they would work with us on the pricing. Relieved, we left Toby in their capable hands. At one point during our journey, a staff member called to inform us that Toby had developed some type of irritation on his backside. She gave our options; we could either let them shave his behind and figure out the issue, or they would happily transport him to a veterinarian. At this point, we had faith in the employees there and asked them to take care of it. They called us an hour or so later informing us that it was merely a hotspot and explaining how they would treat it. They said they would call back if any other issues arose. Within a few days, we noticed through their fantastic video system, that they had removed his elizabethan collar, and that he was no longer chewing on his rump. Finally, when we arrived to pick him up, he was freshly bathed and happy. The staff had rounded up his multiple comfort items and had him ready to go. At check out, Tiffany generously adjusted our rate to reflect the cost of the more basic room, and gave us the military discount, which greatly reduced the price of our bill. Furthermore, I noticed as we drove away, they did not charge for the hotspot care they provided. I cannot thank these folks enough for the peace of mind they provided. Their professionality and top-notch service cannot be beat. We will most definitely be repeat customers! read more

Cahaba Beach Dog Park worked so well with my dogs. I have 2 dogs, one doesn't get along with other dogs and not many humans. They still let us board her, she just couldn't go to the dog park to play with other dogs. They took great care of our dogs. I was able to check in on them with the camera that they have in their rooms. They were able to stay in the room with each other and they let us bring a blanket and their toys. They were so generous to let us pick them up earlier than we were supposed to. We will definitely be using them in the future. read more

Our 3 dogs love the care they get at Cahaba Beach. Recently moving to Birmingham from another southern city that had outstanding options for boarding and parks our family was relieved to find cahaba beach dog park. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. The boarding and daycare facilities are clean and the best in the area hands down. The temperament testing mentioned in a previous yelp review is a god send. having used public dog parks in the past and having to deal with the over aggressive crowd this is test is one of the main reasons we are willing to pay to use a private dog park. Our family loves having the ability to check on our dogs with the webcams in the boarding facilities. Keep up the outstanding work cahaba beach dog park we look forward to sharing our hounds with your able and polite staff :) read more

This is a private dog park. The gate is coded so that only members can enter. We were driving through on our way to Memphis and were wanting to stop by and exercise our dog, but were unable to because they weren't open on a Sunday morning at 8 am. The kennel staff said they didn't open until 4 pm. Crazy. Anyway, go to veterans park down the road on the other side of the street. This place looks really fun though. read more

My dog absolutely loved Cahaba Beach Dog Park! The staff was very nice and you could tell they cared about my dog. He stayed in a junior suite, which had a lot of room and a TV. What was really great about CB Dog Park was that every suite had a live webcam! So you could log on from anywhere and see your dog! Another awesome thing was that they gave a report card of how your dog was. It showed his eating habits, and who his best friends at daycare were! They even took pictures of him playing on Facebook! Also, this is probably the cleanest boarding and daycare facility in B'ham! Go try it out, you'll be glad you did! read more

Super....super friendly staff. Excellent dog park that is very spacious & clean. There is a hiking trail that's great exercise for you & your dog. Your dog will not be safe here! Horrible place because of 1 employee, a woman named Beth. If you care about your pet your should avoid this place at all costs until they fire her. My mix breed puppy started going to day care here 5 days a week at around 4 months of age (she is 7.5 months old now). They gave me cute report cards every day when I picked her up saying what a joy she was, what a ray of sunshine she was, how she loved to play tag with the other dogs & above all how she liked to splash in the water. Report cards also had boxes to be checked if your dog misbehaved. I never once got a report card saying my dog acted up. No one ever said anything to me about my dog acting up at all. I heard quite the opposite day after day over & over. Approx a week ago my dog oddly started nipping when I dropped her off & picked her up from day care. I had asked for advise as to what I could do or why they thought this behavior would have just started out of the blue. I got no advice. Let me add here that during the 3 months my dog has attended daycare I have had 3 staff members seek me out in the parking lot to tell me how much they love my dog & what a sweetie she was. 2 of them told me she was their favorite dog & the 3rd said she was one of their favorites. Well today I get a call from this extremely rude woman (who I later found out was Beth) telling me that I needed to come pick my dog up as she had been bitten. Beth told me my dog deserved getting bitten & that she didn't blame the other dog for biting my dog as my dog was constantly aggressive with all the other dogs & if I wanted to continue doggie day care there I needed to come talk to her. When I picked up my dog the Beth woman denied that she said my dog deserved to get bitten (lies). She also said that my dog had bitten her staff (more lies). I pointed out to her that during the morning & evening exchange over the past week, my dog had started nipping (see above) & we were working on that. Beth rudely said NO my dog had "bitten" her staff during the exchange. A puppy nipping at your shirt or sleeve is way different than a dog sinking it's teeth into your flesh Beth!!! anyway.... after all the daily glowing report cards my dog has received & the amazing praise she received directly from some of their staff... also after me observing with my own 2 eyes how my dog acts around other dogs (she likes to play & rough house but if the other dog gets aggressive or growls my dog always runs away or drops to her belly in total submission)... I believe the call made to me by this rude Beth woman spouting off about all this aggression my dog miraculously now has was a total "cover-their-ass" phone call in case I tried to sue them because my dog was bitten while in their care. Beth was trying to pre-emptively place blame on my innocent dog. All that said, dogs will be dogs & I never would have placed blame for my dog getting bitten. But, to have this Beth woman call me on the phone & say my dog deserved what she got & have her make up lies about my dog being aggressive... I am done & can never leave my dog anywhere this horrible excuse for a woman works. In closing I will say the place is very nice & the rest of the staff are good but if you plan to board your dog or leave them there for day care please ask if Beth still works there & if she does run (don't walk) out of there & find an actual dog-friendly & safe place to leave your baby. read more

I will NEVER be bringing my dog back here. The way they treat the dogs that are boarded is awful. You can literally see and hear it when you're at the dog park and the boarded dogs are outside. My dog came home with a big cut on top of her foot, wet and covered in pee. No one said a word to be about it and I noticed when I got in my car and everything was wet. She 2.5 years only and hasn't had a accident in I couldn't tell you how long. She can go 12+ hours without wanting to go outside so I know she can hold it for a while. So on top of all of this, I paid $150 for three days. While I did know this upfront, I expected MUCH better care. Either way, I will never be coming back. read more

I've taken my dog Charlie to Cahaba Beach for Boarding/Daycare for years. LOVE THEM! He is happy walking in and I know he is well taken care of. Recently I was at Hollywood Feed, and overheard the cashier say she also works at Cahaba Beach. I told her my dog Charlie goes there and she says " I LOVE Charlie!" I was 100% sure she was just saying that and had no idea who my dog was until she grabs her phone and whips out pictures she's taken of Charlie and starts saying what she loves about him!! They charged me $15 for their own required "temperament test" for my puppy, which took all of 10 minutes, and the price was not discussed before hand or advertised anywhere. Come on, you are charging me $15 just to tell me that my puppy can't come to your park? GIve me a break. I'm not upset that my dog did not pass the test, I'm sure that they are right about that as places like this are not right for all dogs, but the idea that they make you take a test and if you don't pass you still have to pay $15 is ludicrous, and if this is the way they operate across the board then I will surely stay away from them all together. What a rip off. read more

My previous review I now retract. Since that review three days ago, both of our dogs have been diagnosed with kennel cough. We understand vaccinations aren't 100% and it is a risk when boarding your pets. Our problem is with the owners response to this issue. We did not request any kind of reimbursement or compensation for their stay or vet bills. Our request was to notify the other families of the confirmed cases. This request was met by the statement: "we won't hide anything but unless the animal is showing signs here there is nothing we need to do." He also informed me that it "wasn't documented anywhere where our dogs were showing signs." We have used this business since it opened and have utilized all services, we will not return. read more

We had been taking our puppy here for over a year for doggy daycare. He always came home with scratches of some sort on him. One day we went to pick him up and he had a huge cut on the back of his leg that they told us about when we came to pick him up. They weren't sure how he got the cut, but they thought it was from there fence. The cut went down to the muscle and he had to end up having 7 stitches. No reimbursement of anything other than the fact that they weren't sure. There are plenty of other places to take your dogs that will tend to their needs and watch them 24/7. read more

BEST dog park/facility ever!!!! The staff is beyond amazing!!! The boarding services are wonderful too! The staff is do friendly and their love and care for dogs is so apparent. They have remembered me and my dog from the second time we met them. There may be places that charge a little less for boarding but in my opinion this place is worth every penny!!! For the care and treatment my dog gets plus all the bonuses (all day doggie day care, a kong at night) this place is worth it!!! Very disappointed in Cahaba Beach Dog Park. We dropped our yellow lab off for a 8 night stay. Not only were we not provided the camera login id at drop off, but when I called 2 days later they gave me the wrong one. We never saw our dog in the provided kennel. When we arrived to pick him up, they tried to give me a small black shitZu. Stating that was the kennel number they had for him. I paid an extra $100 for dog busy bones, extra day care, and a bath. He was not bathed or groomed as was paid for, nor can I guarantee that they gave him the bones and extra day care...they didn't even have him in the right kennel. For all we know none of the extra services were provided. They did over to bath him at a $10 discount. We were/are very disappointed in the services that were provided. read more

This place is amazing! It is obvious that no corner was cut when they built the facility and developed their business plan. I had to board my dachshund for a week while on vacation and was nervous because I've never left him before. I missed him sorely but the friendly staff and kennel web cam made me feel much better. I was given his 'report card' when I picked him up which showed the times he was walked and went out to play, what dogs he played with, etc. It was very detailed. Most importantly he was exhausted from a week of playing and smelled good for weeks from his (free!) bath, which you get if you board your dog for more than a couple days. Friendly staff, great service, I'll definitely be back! read more

Do not believe the negative reviews. Most likely they are from people who could not take their dog to the park for one reason or another. The temperament test is facilitated as for the protection of the dogs that attend the park as well as for liability reasons. My dog goes there almost every day and he loves it. The staff is very friendly and you can tell they genuinely enjoy the dogs who stay there. We live in Homewood and I go out of my way to take Harry there. He loves it! read more

We called today to take our dog out to the dog park and were told that the "Behavioral Specialist" who evaluates the dogs temperament is not in today and is backed up until next Monday. Are you kidding me? Is business so booming that you can put a customer on hold for 5 days to do what everyone is saying is a 15 min. exam? I have gotten into my Orthopedics office with less of a wait. If you can only go at their convenience good luck on ever making this work. Curious: What is a Behavioral Specialist for dogs and wouldn't it be worth teaching all your staff to do this? Not Impressed. Seems to be completely under staffed. I am paying for my dog to have "prestige care" as the lady (that just seems fake) told me. I was not at all satisfied. My dog and I were asked to leave the dog park because of my dog's excessive barking at the owner. We were in the dog park alone, and an owner walked by the fence causing my dog to bark. My dog was excessively barking (we had contacted a trainer on this issue already because it is more of an annoyance for my husband and I), which he took as aggressive behavior. He asked me why I wasn't scolding her, then he said we couldn't be members at Cahaba Beach Dog Park. I told him she had passed the temperament test, and he said that shouldn't have happened. He asked me if I were only a dog park member as if he was weighing out in his head how much money he would lose by him asking me to leave. Though I was only a dog park member at the time, I had contacted the groomer and had considered leaving my dog there the next weekend; obviously, after this encounter, I will be taking my business elsewhere. I have also told many of my friends and coworkers about this incident, and they have decided to not give their business to an owner who treats people (and dogs) like this. The facility seems to be in good condition, which is why I am giving them a two-star rating. The dog park was rarely occupied by other dogs. In the event there was a dog there, it was a large dog in the large dog area (I have a small dog), so I would always have to risk putting my dog in the large dog area in order for her to have another dog to interact with. I cannot speak for any of their other services, but if you are considering being a dog park member, DON'T. Visit either the Loch Haven park in Hoover or the dog park in Alabaster. Though there is no temperament test at these locations, it is free to take your dog to these locations and the facilities are in decent condition. Also, according to the owner, the temperament test does not work, so what is the point of paying the extra fee every month. read more

I have taken my dog here and boarded her over weekends and was happy with them but I had to leave her for 5 weeks, I choose them as I thought she would be safe. when I got her home I noticed a scar on her ear it is a definite bit mark, I called to ask what had happened , they had no record of anything. I went there to talk to them I know things can happen but I wanted to know what, as it had to have happened in the first couple of weeks of her being there ( it had healed) I was told the manager had tried to contact me but was unable, considering I was out of the country ( that was the reason she was there) I had given them my sons phone NBR to call if anything happened. The report was still on his/her desk. They never told him anything when he picked her up. They implied she was playing and it happened then, she is not comfortable around other dog so most times she will hide or run from them. I called to ask for a copy of this report, as of this writing I have not received it. she was left from June - July 2016. If they had told me what had happened and sent copy of the report I probably would not have been writing this review. I feel that when a dog is injured in anyway there should be a report. and the owner SHOULD be informed. read more
