Janet Wood, a vet tech, is rude and arrogant. Dr. Allison makes snap diagnoses based upon no evidence. Unprofessional people. Additionally, Dr. Allison did not engage with my dogs. She sat stony faced. She saw my dogs for maybe 5 min each and charged me $79 for each 5 min "examination". Rip off. Dr. Tate replied to my review and lied. She has never seen or treated either of my dogs. She has not asked me questions about them. I complained about Dr. Woods' wife, who is rude and arrogant, and this is retaliation. It is a horrible place to take your animals.

We've been clients here at Riverview Animal Clinic since 1988! They've always have cared for my cats with the utmost compassion, kindness and respect. My kitties love Dr. Amy Tate! I never feel rushed, they answer all of my questions and are very professional! The staff is also amazing, caring and friendly. I've never been anywhere else. I recommend them to anyone looking for an exceptional Vet practice!

My little kitten needed some shots and a little care. Luckily the staff at Riverview were there to take care of us! We made an appointment (a few minutes late) and as soon as we showed up we were shown a room. Within about 3 minutes we were checked in by the tech and off the process started. Fast, friendly, efficient. Not the best thing to have to do on a day off but couldn't have asked for a better process! Once again, hats off!! 5 stars!

Wolfe is awaiting for his blood work and possible chemotherapy treatment. He wants to go outside. The staff and Dr. Wood are awesome!!!

Wolfe waits for his last chemotherapy treatment. Dr. Wood and Dr. DeBlanc are great and awesome. Wolfe is doing so well and in remission. Wolfe is doing so well and in remission. I have confidence in their works and the staff! Thank you so very much @ Dr. Wood and Dr. LeBlanc and the friendly staff!

We paid additional per day for daycare thinking our pup would at least get to play outdoor and won't be locked inside all the time but daycare meant all day outdoor so he came home with sunburn and limping because of blisters on his paws. We were not taken to see the outdoor area but certain they do have umbrellas. However, we don't know how crowded it was and if there were enough shady spots for all. All day outdoor in the summer was brutal. I suppose all is normal condition under boarding facilities so we will not be boarding ours again.

Update: this issue still remains unresolved. Still waiting on a call back from the owner after…read moreweeks of playing phone tag. I'm sure there are kind people who work here, but we are very dissatisfied with our experience. We trusted this facility to properly monitor and care for our Australian Shepherd while we were away, paying around $50 per night plus tip. When we picked him up yesterday, we were told he had a hotspot and had been favoring one leg. At pickup, his foot was very red, but there was no visible blood. By the time we got him home, his foot was noticeably bleeding and the condition was worse than we were led to believe. This was not something that happened overnight and should have been attended to. Today we took him to the vet, where we learned that infection had already set in. The visit cost us an additional $150, and he is currently unable to put weight on his foot and will need at least a week to recover. We attempted to contact the facility through both the website and email and have yet to receive any response. While we understand mistakes can happen, this situation is not acceptable. I would encourage anyone looking for attentive care and communication to look elsewhere.

My 2.5-year-old boxer, Bruno, died less than 18 hours after I picked him up from Pet Paradise in…read moreHoover, Alabama. He boarded there from 03/24/26 to 03/29/26. During his stay I never received any call or notification that he was sick, nor did he receive any medical attention. When I arrived to pick him up, Bruno was extremely lethargic, did not have his normal gait, and breathing very rapidly. These were not normal behaviors for him. Additionally, he had a strong odor of urine coming from him. The attached photo shows his post boarding condition where he is visibly ill. While we were still at the facility, staff took his temperature at the front desk and told me it was normal, then saying he was just tired. Because his condition concerned me, I took him to an emergency veterinarian. The emergency vet recorded his temperature at 105.4°F, and we were then transferred to the veterinary hospital at Auburn University, where Bruno passed away. I had also signed up for the "Furever Connected" service for 03/28/26 (the day before pickup), which includes photos that accompany the report card. However, no photos were provided, though we were told we would not be charged for the service for that day of his stay. After Pet Paradise learned of Bruno's passing, local management reached out with their condolences and assured me they would retrain staff. The regional manager then contacted me and offered to pay the emergency veterinary bills if I would sign a release of claims. I declined to sign anything that would release my claims. Anyone considering boarding their pet here should research past incidents involving Pet Paradise resorts, including those reported in Pooler, Georgia in 2025. If you are considering boarding your dog here, I strongly recommend asking how they monitor dogs for signs of illness or injury and when a veterinarian is contacted. If I had known that information beforehand, I would never have brought Bruno to Pet Paradise.

Unprofessional and disrespectful treatment by staff…read more I had high hopes for this veterinary practice because the veterinarian himself is knowledgeable, kind, and clearly loves animals. However, my experience with the staff has been deeply disappointing, to the point where I can no longer recommend this clinic. I reached out to them for help rehoming my cat, as I was told they might be able to assist in finding a foster home. Over several weeks, I followed up multiple times, only to have to repeat my situation to different staff members each time. I explained that my cat was attacking another one of my pets and that I was desperate to find a safe, responsible home. During one of my last conversations with a staff member, I expressed my distress in a way that was clearly misunderstood. I was adamant that I did not want my cat to be euthanized and refused to take it to a shelter for that reason. Despite this, the clinic called the police on me, assuming I was a danger to my cat, which was not only incorrect but completely unnecessary. The way this situation was handled was unprofessional, harmful, and frankly, traumatizing. I live with health conditions and the police arriving at my home, banging on my door, made the situation significantly worse. Instead of communicating with me like an adult, the staff member avoided accountability when I later inquired about what happened. To make matters worse, I then received a termination letter dropping my pets as patients from the clinic. What's even more disappointing is that after all of this, they have shown their true colors by not even caring about the rehoming of my cat. They would rather I take my cat to a shelter where it would likely be euthanized, yet now that I'm still trying to find a safe home, they are ignoring my calls and emails--while an innocent cat's life is at stake. This level of disregard is absolutely unacceptable for a veterinary clinic that claims to care about animals. On top of that, it seems that none of the staff are actually certified veterinary technicians, and that lack of proper training is evident in how they handle situations. This ultimately falls on the veterinarian for choosing to employ an untrained, inexperienced, and very young staff. Science has proven that our brains are not even fully developed until age 25, and it shows in how immaturely this situation was handled. A veterinary practice is not just about the doctor--it's about the entire experience, including how staff treat pet owners in difficult situations. The veterinarian may be great, but his staff's lack of professionalism, compassion, and accountability completely ruins the experience. If you're looking for a veterinary clinic where the staff is trained, professional, and able to handle sensitive situations appropriately, I would recommend looking elsewhere. I truly wish I could give this place five stars, but integrity demands honesty.

They provide a 15% discount off your first-time visit along with some goodies for your pet's first visit. Even if you're forgetful like me, they will honor that 15% on a future visit. They do an excellent job sending reminders, making phone calls for you to come pick up your pet if you boarded it, vaccinations, everything. They're willing to work with your schedule no matter how crazy it gets. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to other pet owners in Birmingham. It also helps they're located near Petsmart and Petco if you need to pick up anything else on your way back home. It might be a hard place to find since it's off in a small road.
