We love Dog U and the people who work there. They genuinely love the dogs and our big Pyrenees mix is exhausted after doggy daycare. An added bonus: Dog U posts pictures on Facebook every day from doggy daycare. It saved us during the COVID lockdown. So appreciate this business.

Dropped off two fully vaccinated and healthy small dogs for a 6 night stay. I was at the emergency…read morevet with two very sick dogs less than 24 hours after pick up. Both dogs had a vaccine resistant kennel cough and had not been treated for it, one dog had pneumonia. I chose this place because it had a veterinary clinic attached and was assured my pets would be seen if needed. This definitely was not the case. I spent 3X the amount I spent on boarding trying to save my dogs from what they caught at this facility. The vet at the emergency care mentioned the volume of animals at the facility was probably a contributing factor. Never again! Don't be fooled by this new and modern looking place.

That means it is very hard to deal with at a Vet office. The owner met me one day and said, "Bring Otis in during your walk. We will give him treats and he can get familiar with our place. I did just that, and Otis started to take me to the front door so he could see his new friends (unbelievable) and get treats. This morning, I took Otis in for an actual visit with the Vet. A vet assistant was educated in these kinds of dogs. She educated me, gave me some sedatives for the next visit and explained that these small bullies are simply like this sometimes. Otis got a shot for the flu (I highly recommend) stool sample, heart and teeth checked. He also got a q-tip in the ear. I had to hold him tight, but it was fine. The staff showed calm professionalism. The facility is pristine, and the parking is plentiful. They have day care, VIP Day care and boarding. Amazing place and so nice for us. I highly recommend.

My 2.5-year-old boxer, Bruno, died less than 18 hours after I picked him up from Pet Paradise in…read moreHoover, Alabama. He boarded there from 03/24/26 to 03/29/26. During his stay I never received any call or notification that he was sick, nor did he receive any medical attention. When I arrived to pick him up, Bruno was extremely lethargic, did not have his normal gait, and breathing very rapidly. These were not normal behaviors for him. Additionally, he had a strong odor of urine coming from him. The attached photo shows his post boarding condition where he is visibly ill. While we were still at the facility, staff took his temperature at the front desk and told me it was normal, then saying he was just tired. Because his condition concerned me, I took him to an emergency veterinarian. The emergency vet recorded his temperature at 105.4°F, and we were then transferred to the veterinary hospital at Auburn University, where Bruno passed away. I had also signed up for the "Furever Connected" service for 03/28/26 (the day before pickup), which includes photos that accompany the report card. However, no photos were provided, though we were told we would not be charged for the service for that day of his stay. After Pet Paradise learned of Bruno's passing, local management reached out with their condolences and assured me they would retrain staff. The regional manager then contacted me and offered to pay the emergency veterinary bills if I would sign a release of claims. I declined to sign anything that would release my claims. Anyone considering boarding their pet here should research past incidents involving Pet Paradise resorts, including those reported in Pooler, Georgia in 2025. If you are considering boarding your dog here, I strongly recommend asking how they monitor dogs for signs of illness or injury and when a veterinarian is contacted. If I had known that information beforehand, I would never have brought Bruno to Pet Paradise.
