I love this fabric shop!!! I come here very often…read more First, it's a short walking distance from my apartment, so that makes it super convenient. But I also love that the prices are great and so is the customer service! The owner is this sweet older man from Afghanistan who is friendly and likes to joke around. He almost always has what I'm looking for and if he doesn't, he's always ready to give me a recommendation on where else I can go find what I need. This is always appreciated!! Inside is a bit chaotic. There are bolts and bolts of fabrics EVERYWHERE! Can't seem to locate what you need? Just ask! The owner or his associate will likely know exactly where it is in their shop and they'll pull it out for you. You won't have to lift a finger, they'll grab the bolts for you! I truly love this place and will be a consistent customer for as long as I live here in Astoria!

Place is a bit cluttered with endless amount of different fabrics and other items that I can't name but all look interesting.my goddaughter has her list of fabric and sizes for her project and with a little help from the shop worker she was able to get enough materials and for only 56 bucks we got plenty . Glad these type of shops are still around as it gets kids and adults a good activity to do instead of phone surfer or dumb tv show watching. The curtains look amazing and I am using the sofa cover as a blanket as I take a well deserved nap .4 stars for Astoria fabric .

I ended up makin smocks out of the fake cotton he sold cuz dye bounces right off. As you can see it doesn't take the dye at all.

He helped me discover a discount of buy one get one free. And then even helped pack up the huge package so I could carry it home safely. Above and beyond service with a smile and great conversation. To some degree I understand that many retailers are tighter on inventory to reduce how much needs to be sold at deeper discounts after certain holidays are over. However this also means certain things run out and there's no selection left which could also mean lost sales, which was the case when I came to look for a couple Christmas-related products a week before Christmas and much of that section looked decimated outside of wrapping paper, kitchen/dining supplies, some decorations and wearable accessories. They were already setting up for Valentine's Day. Walking around the store, I still appreciated that this location is still around, it's been a while since I've visited so I was glad to see still a strong selection of frames, scrapbooking supplies, paints, yarns and ribbons/trimmings. They also installed more self-service checkout machines. The shopping stop wasn't altogether unfruitful in that I picked up a pack of baked goods boxes (to place home-made cookies/pastries inside before gifting to others). I hope next time to find more of what I need!
