Great "mom and pop" yarn store you don't see too often with a kind, passionate owner. If you want a custom pattern or need help with a pattern to make it fit you perfectly, this is the place to go! She also has books and books and books of patterns to look through, as well as an assortment of quality yarns. 20 year business! Feels like a family business and is very very cozy!

Knitting 321 is the BEST knitting store! I am thankful my first introduction to knitting was with the owner Valeria Kardos. She's all that makes the difference and why there is nothing like Knitting 321. I came in with zero knowledge, no background in fashion and the basics of dress-making. My line of work involves a lot of long-haul international travel and time spent at the airport lounges. I thought of learning the basics, so I have something to get preoccupied with other than work and reading. Little did I know that it's beginning of a collaborative relationship. Now, four months since gotten hooked into knitting, I have completed 3 hats, 3 scarves, and my first ever sweater project. Valeria can help you with all your knitting needs, including project ideas. She has an art master degree and came from the fashion industry sector. She can help design and make patterns. She paints, so she's incredibly great with colors, too. Being at the store is all about the project you want to do; which yarn feels best; and what needle size you are most comfortable. Nothing ever feels forced if it only takes out the fun of doing it. In other words, she's not out to sell you yarns or anything. You have to love it for yourself. I also feel the sense of community in her little shop with the other ladies (customers) willing to help, answer questions, and inspire each other's creation. Store services: - Private lessons (knitting and crochet) - Valeria conducts only one 1-on-1 private lesson each day 9:30-11:00 AM, Tuesdays to Saturdays. - Yarns - you'll find a wide array of the finest yarns from Europe and South America - Knitting accessories - Write patterns - Books / Magazines - Other services (project finishing and wet-blocking)

Shop front - a reminder never to go here.

But I also love that the prices are great and so is the customer service! The owner is this sweet older man from Afghanistan who is friendly and likes to joke around. He almost always has what I'm looking for and if he doesn't, he's always ready to give me a recommendation on where else I can go find what I need. This is always appreciated!! Inside is a bit chaotic. There are bolts and bolts of fabrics EVERYWHERE! Can't seem to locate what you need? Just ask! The owner or his associate will likely know exactly where it is in their shop and they'll pull it out for you. You won't have to lift a finger, they'll grab the bolts for you! I truly love this place and will be a consistent customer for as long as I live here in Astoria!

Place is a bit cluttered with endless amount of different fabrics and other items that I can't name but all look interesting.my goddaughter has her list of fabric and sizes for her project and with a little help from the shop worker she was able to get enough materials and for only 56 bucks we got plenty . Glad these type of shops are still around as it gets kids and adults a good activity to do instead of phone surfer or dumb tv show watching. The curtains look amazing and I am using the sofa cover as a blanket as I take a well deserved nap .4 stars for Astoria fabric .

The store layout here is a big congested and feel the checkout area and online order area could be better designed. I placed an order online for store pickup and it was ready in less than 10 minutes after I placed the order, which was quite impressive (I couldn't go until a few days later). The pickup area is located to your left as soon as you get off the escalators. There really wasn't a shelf to get your items and your bags situated after you pick up your item and the waiting area was quite small. No one was there when I went to pick up but a line of about 5 people behind me formed as I got my item making it a bit tricky to navigate to leave the area while also trying to stuff my item into my bags. The general checkout area was quite tight as well. It's long and it's sometimes hard to see if a self checkout counter is open. Self checkout itself is pretty easy to use and I like how the machine is able to detect if the handheld scanner was properly placed back in its slot before it moves forward with checking you out. I was able to find my account easily and apply all my coupons during my transaction. The staff I asked about inventory were quite knowledgeable and were able to point me to the right aisle to get the things I needed. things were well stocked and neatly displayed as well.

To some degree I understand that many retailers are tighter on inventory to reduce how much needs to be sold at deeper discounts after certain holidays are over. However this also means certain things run out and there's no selection left which could also mean lost sales, which was the case when I came to look for a couple Christmas-related products a week before Christmas and much of that section looked decimated outside of wrapping paper, kitchen/dining supplies, some decorations and wearable accessories. They were already setting up for Valentine's Day. Walking around the store, I still appreciated that this location is still around, it's been a while since I've visited so I was glad to see still a strong selection of frames, scrapbooking supplies, paints, yarns and ribbons/trimmings. They also installed more self-service checkout machines. The shopping stop wasn't altogether unfruitful in that I picked up a pack of baked goods boxes (to place home-made cookies/pastries inside before gifting to others). I hope next time to find more of what I need!
