Used this company to relocate me a few years ago and the crew was exceptional, so it was without…read morequestion that I used them again. They moved me this past Saturday. Staff members prior to the move were very efficient, and easy to work with. Chris was absolutely patient, and very accommodating in scheduling and rescheduling due to changes in the unit I was being relocated too. The day of the move, a Penske truck pulled up with more than enough ample space to move me, it was actually to big. One man jumped out of the passenger side. I asked him if he wanted me to move my car as I was holding two parking spaces, and he said not a single word. He looked me dead on in the eye and did not reply...weird. The driver jumped out, came around and introduced himself followed by another guy, and additional introductions were made. All went well...or so I thought. The guys wrapped everything carefully which made me feel more at ease. They only had large items to relocate since we had already moved lighter items the day before. The guys set up everything moved into the new unit, and the driver (nicer one), even reconnected my washer and dryer. This was not done by them a few years ago. I was advised they could not do it at that time, so I was a happy camper having this service available to me. I noticed after they left that all of my dresser drawers were off track...a small thing considering that was the only thing I had to correct. Anyhow while taking out the dresser drawers, I noticed a metal rod looking thing stuffed inside one of the dressers with clothes. I didn't know what it was for. I thought maybe it was placed by the moving company on accident. Upon further inspection while putting the drawers back on track my daughter in law and I noticed that they broke a part that is bolted into the dresser for the actual drawer to go on track. The metal portion that they broke off entirely from the drawer, we compared to the other drawers, I only know to describe as the track a train would maneuver on, without it....the train would not be on track. We figured a way to put the metal rod that runs along the bottom portion of the drawer back so that we could get the drawer on track. We were able to successfully do so, but because they also broke the portion that is bolted into the dresser, it's wobbly. The only way to break the rod off and portion bolted inside of the actual dresser is to attempt to remove it several times by force..... I didn't make a huge deal because the dresser isn't falling out entirely when opened, but what bothered me was the fact that they KNOWINGLY broke it, stuffed the broken off rod in the drawer and said ABSOLUTELY nothing. I was in each unit during the move and feel that they should have told me or told the company. As I stated my crew that moved me before a few years ago was fanatical, not sure what occurred with this crew, and the fact that my dresser drawer was broken and clearly acknowledged by the rod left in the drawer which came off of the bottom, and not communicated to me was not a professional thing to do. UPDATE: I increased this review by 2 stars because the owner reached out to me personally to apologize and offer reconciliation by having someone to come out to take a look, tighten up the dresser track, along with a refund amount, and a credit towards a future move. I received a feedback email from them, replied and was contacted within ten minutes by one of the company owners. That is excellent service, and this was closed knowing that the company values their customers.

Why on earth didn't we choose this storage facility and U-Haul dealer in the first place??! Five…read morestars, all the way. Unfortunately, we rented a 5'x8' NON-climate controlled unit for 6 months, from a different storage company on Old Trolly Road in Summerville. At first, their deal sounded great, and the price seemed OK. The initial CSR who set us up told us that we were obligated to buy their $11/month insurance. Not true. We were not accurately informed or given the choice to waive that fee, and use our valid Renters Insurance policy we already had. They would not credit us the $66. They also made a huge mistake in that they flagged our account as a non-payment, almost resulting in our unit items being auctioned off!! Our payments were 100% in good standing. Even with their military discount, they charged is $69/month. I did some research, and we decided to go with main road storage in Summerville because of the positive experience we had had at the Johns Island store when we needed to rent a trailer. The Summerville location has awesome prices, outstanding customer service, super clean and secure facilities, and more than competent CSR's. We inquired about a special, and took advantage of that, plus our unit is bigger and climate-controlled and we'll save $20/month!! They are an excellent choice for U-Haul rentals as well. Vehicles are well-maintained and clean. Check in and check out processes are a breeze. Main Road Storage on Johns Island is also highly recommend!

My mission was to clear out a storage unit & pick up a Uhaul at this location. I went in from NY so i decided to fly in & Uber to the facility. Two negative things happened; my Uhaul reservation wasn't ready and I had the wrong combination code. At this time it was around 1pm and they closed at 5pm so i was running short on time. It was a very busy day for the staff from what i could see so it was hard for them to help me right away. Ultimately we all figured things out as a team and they were able to get me into another Uhaul rental for the same price. A bigger one! They then helped me cut the lock to the unit and had all the equipment available for me to load everything into the truck w no major issues. The manager even took me around the facility on his brand new golf cart which i thought was pretty cool! After i finished up i went to say bye to the team for all their help dealing w. the scenario I was in. They gave me a few water bottles for my long drive to FL and ultimately were happy to see me succeed. I would recommend this facility mainly for the great service & patience they provided me with.

I moved from…read moreAustin to Charleston over four weeks ago and utilized U-Haul as my moving company of choice for everything from Mo to the truck to the storage unit. I have not had one single thing go right which cannot be coincidence. I have called there no less than 15 times with the promise of elevating issues. Everything from the original movers arriving too early and the truck wasn't available on time so we burned two hours but they promptly left after the four hour time.. The storage unit when we finally arrived in Charleston was exactly what they said my four bedroom house needed, but they had rented it the day before, so they moved me to a different property in Wamba Creek. My experience at that particular storage unit in Wambach Creek has been nothing. Short of ridiculous. From the front desk to Elijah, the Director of the actual facility, nobody communicates. I have been overcharged for insurance which I have addressed and it has not been fixed. They locked me out of my storage unit because they thought that I had Live animals being kept in there, which was not the case. They just followed me in and out as I was moving items. They are not conveniently open at all, for a business, where people need access, they are open from nine to 3 o'clock on weekdays. I had to take days off of work to accommodate their schedules because they had errors in their access card coding. At the end of the day, one month later, my 26 foot U-Haul truck is still sitting on their property which I do not have access to because they jammed the back even though I had a log on it and that is illegal. I was supposed to return it a month ago but I can't because they could not provide me with adequate storage. Space And then when they did they locked out my access card. The storage space was supposed to be free for the first month but I've been charged numerous times and gotten bills to pay for the next month. U-Haul is the worst logistics company I have ever dealt with and I sit here today as a brand new person in Charleston that has zero access to her clothing her furniture her medication everything I own is in that U-Haul truck or in that storage unit. Do you think anybody ever calls me back? The answer would be no I asked for this to be elevated every single time and not once has anyone called me. Do not use U-Haul for anything, you might find a nice person here or there, but at the end of the day, my move to South Carolina has been an absolute disaster and cost me $10,000 and I still had to pay them which I paid upfront so they got their money and now have all of my items from my home my clothingmedication that was absolutely dire that I take every day, but no one cares over there. Absolute worst customer experience ever and I am still battling them.

I tried to call several times throughout the day, using both numbers listed, and got no response until after the third call (hours later). The response was a text message. We set up a time to discuss more the next day and when I tried to call during that time, both numbers were connected to a phone that was turned off. I sent a follow up message confirming that I still (against my better judgement) would like to continue with the rental. I received no response. I hate extra space storage but I had to eventually call them and get a unit there because of the lack of response from Big Bertha (and generally the vibe that Big Bertha doesnt need my money/are unconcerned with my patronage - which is their prerogative, but is really an unfortunate way to conduct business). TLDR: cool spot and convenient location, but with poor management and poor customer service.
