But very unhappy with their business practices. I received an " inital rental discount" rate and the contract reads it can be changed at any tine with 30 days notice given. Needless to say after the initial 4 months they increased my rental amount by 69%. I called and the manager said he would "see what he could do" and return my call - welp its been over a week and havent heard back. IMO they lure you in with a low rate then jack it up assuming you will just roll over and pay it rather than move your stuff. Do not recomend and will be moving to another facility. Even if I have to pay more then my "initial rental discount" rate at another facility, at least I won't be giving my money to Extra Space Storage.

I have rented a space here for several years. My biggest complaint is that they are constantly…read moreincreasing the rate. The longer that you have a unit here the more you will pay for that unit. For a long time this storage facility was a hot mess. There was zero security measures in place. It's very easy to slip inside the gate if you follow behind another vehicle. Once inside the entry gate the buildings were accessible to anyone without a code at one time and anyone could also get on the elevator to go to any floor. It was extremely unsafe. It took a murder happening on the premises to change all of that. Since the murder, there are security measures in place and codes are required to enter everything now. I am glad that there is finally more safety measures , it is just sad it took a murder for this to happen.

The other big issue is flooding at this West Ashley location. All my boxes with household items were destroyed by water and then mold. My mattress and box spring also destroyed. My furniture is covered in mold. I was not informed of the flooding and only discovered it when I went to move my things to my new home. I had to replace the linens, sofa, and clothes for a three bedroom house. Based on price, quality, and lack of customer service they do not deserve the 1 star. Also the employees are not reliable as they often quit and are no shows.

There are no human employees in the office anymore.. It is all apparently "virtual", with a badly working iPad sort of device that you were supposed to converse with someone on. And as someone else mentioned in one of the reviews, they seem absolutely unfamiliar with the facility. Although, look out, because if it's a "holiday", no one will help you out on this (cheap!) virtual " Communication system" The elevators are often broken down, and the last time I was told to just " walk the stairs" (with my furniture...5 stories up) The gates to drive into the facility are often wide open. Anyone can come in, and it feels absolutely unsafe. As someone else wrote in the review, they did keep barricades up in front of the sliding doors to enter the storage building when they seem to think that there was going to be a flood. There was no flood, and no one to take them down so myself and others who had to get into their storage, had to climb over them. Amazing. I advise everyone, especially parents of college students, to stay away! Six months ago, I ended up moving my things to another facility in just up the street .... 100% more secure, safe and professional.

They also offered to let me switch if after move in I needed a different size. Furthermore, the storage units are very well air conditioned, there are multiple bathrooms in the facility and the bathrooms even have changing tables. Mike was amazing and patient with me. He has helped me on multiple occasions. He also insisted on ensuring I knew how to use all the codes for easy access. This is one of the rare occasions where I wish I could give a sixth star.
