Great location to store you valuables and memories. I recently used Extra Space Storage during a 7 month military deployment and couldn't be happier with the outcome. The facility is still new, very clean and has a very professional staff. Throughout the entire 7 months I wold receive emails about the facility regarding inclement weather and how the facility was doing after them. Do not rent an unit from extra space on Ashley River rd. We had a unit there for a very short time and just opened it to find huge rats and maggots. Everything was ruined , the employees admitted they're aware of this issue and it's common there due the the construction next door. They don't care and we're not helpful at all especially the regional manager Shawn Tetrick. Very rude and not understanding I understand you take a chance in unit with minor issues. This is a health department issue and they're aware of it and choose to do nothing. If you rent there now ... get your stuff out. If you need an unit go elsewhere! read more

The Mt Pleasant location is great but the people they have running the shop are some of the most unintelligent people of the face of the planet. We had been renting space for over 6 months until they rented the space next to us to a passenger van which made it physically impossible to park our boat in the space we have been renting. The girl running the shop that day couldn't understand how they had messed up and made it my fault that we couldn't use the space any longer. Instead of trying to find us another space she told us to go to the Rivers Avenue location. She was too dumb to actually argue with. Never again. read more

This place is great. The facility is brand new and extremely clean. Selecting the adequate size unit was a breeze, as the young gentleman manning the desk was very informative, helpful, professional and straight to the point. There is plenty of unloading / loading drop off space. The security seems to be the best available, with cameras, pin codes and plenty of lighting for evening unloading / loading. Location is in a decent area and is convenient to West Ashley, downtown and James Island. Lastly, I should mention that music is played throughout the building which is pretty awesome. This was a very good experience. The best perk was the free use of a truck for the morning of our move. The staff was friendly and helpful although the check in/sign up seemed a take a little longer than I think it should have. The facility was clean but then this facility had only been open a few months. The rates are expensive but it is indoor storage. Luckily we were moving in a slow day not at the end of the month with only one other customer. However even with that having to coordinate using the elevator took some time. I imagine if it had been the first of the month, a busy day with many people moving in and out would take quiet a while and would be extremely frustrating waiting for elevators to move boxes and furniture up to units and being in line waiting for a bays for the truck. All in all a very good experience with the one caveat we were there when only one other customer was. My advice if you store there - plan to move in/out on some odd day of the month at some odd time to avoid lines. As they fill up, it will get busier. read more
