We first rented a unit five years ago for $112/month. The people on site were very friendly and helpful. Since then there has been a steady deterioration in the service and yearly increases in the rent. It is now over $400/month, and there are no live personnel on site. (If you have a problem, you talk to a screen in the lobby.) Too bad, the facility is actually very good, but it is clearly a scam operation, since they know once you have your unit full, it is very time consuming and expensive to have it all moved to another facility. read more

When you call to complain, they cite "market conditions." They have no overhead. They don't pay tariffs. There is zero reason to screw customers like they do, other than their greed. DO NOT RENT HERE!!! Seriously, STEER CLEAR. This is the biggest bait and switch I've seen. While I understand increasing unit rates a little bit quarterly, our rate was increased 153% to $344/month with 30 days notice. So even if we wanted to move everything out, we had almost no time to scramble and do so. This is after an already 100% rate increase the quarter prior. That is ridiculous and beyond unreasonable. I've been renting from them for a few years now and besides the rates going up frequently, they have NO customer service or support! I have called several times over the past few months always getting different people. This is supposed to be a climate controlled facility. I'm paying for climate control. The AC has been broken for at least 3-4 months! When I call I'm told they are waiting for a part! How long does it take? Several times over the past several months I've arrived and the doors are wide open for anyone to enter! How can this be safe for the facility or our belongings? Everything was working so much better when they had staff on site. I had a person to talk to who would answer my questions and I felt actually cared. The people who answer the phone have told me they would call me back or get a message to management. That never happened! I'm very disappointed! Last week when I went to get something from storage the elevator said "communication failure"! I wasn't getting on it! Obviously! After talking to several people on the phone who told me the facility "has to have a stairway" to get to the third floor! Third floor is where my unit is located. Come to find out you can only get to the staircase from inside floor 2 & 3 and it takes you outside! How does that help me when I'm leaving the next day and I need my luggage that is in my storage unit? I think at the very least I should get the months the AC wasn't working at a discounted rate! It still isn't working and it is October! I would think twice before renting from them. read more

Within 2 months of moving into this facility, 3 units of our belongings were covered in mold.This is an unsupervised facility with terrible customer service. We have made numerous phone calls and NO ONE will take any responsibility. We have found many other tenants in this building with the same issue. This is absolutely NOT a climate controlled facility. These people should be ashamed of themselves! We plan to hold them accountable. There is no one working on site so you are left to deal with talking to someone on video call in the "office" who can barely assist or know what is going on. We are stuck spending well over 10k to clean and move all of our belongings with no assistance from the facility. This all occurred due to their negligence. No help from insurance. When my grandmother passed away, we needed a place to temporarily store some household items nearby. We wanted a climate-controlled storage option and really sort of fell into this location on James Island. I'm so happy we did. With great monthly rates and no long-term contracts, I ended up taking out another small unit within two months for some of my own stuff. This location has three floors accessed at your leisure through code-enabled doors. There are specific hours however and my understanding is that they are strictly enforced. Each patron gets their own unique code for trackability and heightened security. The facility has an on-site office (not 24/7) and limited parking along the side and in the very back. All of the units are internal, and there is an elevator with multiple large rolling carts available at the entrance for your use. Lights are motion-sensored in the hallways so you don't have to worry about switches. The property is always clean and the parking lot is pretty well lit at night. Do be careful of the gradual slope of the pavement however, because the carts tend to roll if you're not paying attention while loading/unloading. During these pandemic times, the office is only allowing one person in at a time, and you can complete just about everything on-line. Masks are required on premises at all times. I rarely see other customers even though the units seem to be completely rented out. This arrangement has definitely met all of my needs so far. There was a major flood after Helene in which they closed everything down for 10 days. The water had receded but still had it closed. They would not reimburse us for the days we could not access our unit and made no apologies. Luckily we had no water damage, but others did and they refused to do anything, basically people were on their own and they lost everything. They forced people to remove there damaged stuff so they could remediate the sheet rock from the water. DO NOT STORE YOUR BELONGINGS HERE, unless you are okay with losing all of it with no recourse. read more
