DO not rent from them! very poor customer service! I rented for only one month, starting on March 1st, went to move out and tried to return my unused lock on March 27th, which their website says needs to be done within a month, they would not take it back, saying I rented the unit in February so had paid for the lock already eventhough I only received it on the 1st. Tracy at the front desk was horribly unhelpful, never even greeted me when I walked into the office. You're lucky if you happen to find someone in the office, I had to go back two days to finally get someone. I asked for her supervisor, she gave me the name Reid Armstrong. At this point it's the principle of the matter, not the money. I'm sure you can find another more customer-oriented storage facility, this one is very lacking! read more

My rental started on Saturday 14 May 2022. We dropped off one truck load on Saturday and another on Sunday. We went to drop of the biggest load yet today, 17 May 2022 and we found a lockout lock installed. Yes, our bill for the month is already paid. When I initially opened the unit on Saturday, the issued lock was present on the floor (photo 1). I received a full refund for that lock because I had an acceptable (per the lady at the front desk) Master lock to use. They had come by between Saturday and Sunday and even put a Public Storage sticker on my lock. Fast forward to today, my wife and I loaded up a big enough load we didn't get everything on two of the provided carts at the front of the indoor storage building. When we arrived at our unit we were locked out(photo 2). I attempted to call the front office, but it had shutdown an hour and half before we arrived. I called the corporate customer service and the nice lady informed me that there was nothing that could be done tonight. She told me several times that there was no possible way to have someone come in a correct the mistake that had happened. Very poor customer service at this location. Things that need to improve before I would recommend anyone renting here. 1) If a lock is going to be placed on a unit that is in good standing. The customer needs to be notified via Email, text and phone call. All three should be required. 2) When there has clearly been a mistake from the storage units side, they need to have a process at corporate to have someone come back in and resolve the issue. Customer service shouldn't be an afterthought. read more

Stay away! Increased our monthly rate from $300 to $500 with first 2 yrs with gradual increases. The unit was leaking and they did nothing - told us to file a claim on insurance. They have a rat and roach problem and care little about it. Management team is terrible and won't even respond. Go elsewhere. read more

The unit I rent is on Folly Road. The managers are always responsive to my needs and the buildings are kept clean and secured, that to me give extra value to my rental location. read more

We reserved our unit online and it was a very easy process that only took a few minutes. Ours was a second floor unit and the entire building was very clean. A new lock in a sealed box was left inside the unit when we arrived. It is temp controlled and the temp was perfect. (We are storing some antiques so we need for the temp to be correct) read more

I wouldnt give this place one star, but i think i have to rate it. I used two units after the horrible move from hell from the "College Hunks". I callex and was told i would need one unit and four days later had to reserve another. The first unit was $230.07. The second unit was $309.00. The units were #131 and #133 so on the same row almost side by side. Why was one unit more than the other? Because it had been "empty for a while and they needed to recoup the lost money on it with the next renter." Yes, that is exactly what I was told after waiting on hold for 41 minutes. I am so incredibly tired of being abused by businesses. Does anyone remember when the customer was right? I wouldnt recommend this place for storing anything at all. Its awful, has rats everywhere and abuses its patrons I used this place 38 days and paid nearly $1000 for 400 sq. feet of not climate controlled space. read more

More often than not you enter a business and find the staff to be on life support and essentially useless as if showing how much they hated their job was part of its description. This was definitely not the case when entering Public Storage on Folly Rd. Alana was knowledgeable, professional, engaging and above all helpful. I genuinely appreciated her efforts in helping me get squared away with the right storage unit. After 7 months I no longer required the storage unit. I had called Public Storage ( the main number) with an accounting question. The call center could not find me in the system and I was getting nowhere after about 30 minutes with them so I called the facility I rented from. I had the pleasure of talking to Dani. Within seconds she had my questions answered and I realized there was no accounting issue. I was wrong. She was professional and considerate. It was so easy to reserve, rent and insure the unit online. The price for the rental was very reasonable. All of the details were worked out electronically, including receiving code access to the property and building. When we arrived, there were enough carts available to load all of our storage items. The storage units here are exposed to the seasons big time here, so if you care about mattresses or clothes or couches, anything involving fabric, DO NO STORE HERE! I rarely give bad reviews. I understand that things can happen. But never again will I use Public Storage. My rate went up every year, for the same hole. And now that I vacated, end of May, they still want to charge me $140.00 for a lock. I was on Auto-Pay for the 2.5 years I was with them. Current every month. Filled out the vacate form online. Bill paid at the beginning of May, for the month of May. Vacated over Memorial Day weekend. And not one courtesy call to let me know that that lock needed to be physically turned in to them. So that little lock is costing me $140.00, for an extra month. What a joke!!!! Never again!!! read more

Modern facility and well kept. Very secure, with conveniences that made move in easy. Online check in made the process quick and simple. I didn't like buying the proprietary lock since I had my own. The real gem of this facility is Dani. She is intelligent, competent, interesting and engaging. She is one of those people who just make your day better. I am really disappointed in this facility. We picked the location because it is close to our home. We knew at move in that they are building more units. There was a lot of construction going on, but that's ok. On one occasion we got a nail in our tire from the construction. Our last visit we found that all of the fencing and gates are down. So there is no security. Also, there are lots of rat traps around, so I guess that has become an issue. Then, I get an email that it is time to increase the rent. Increase!! While the are not secure and a complete mess. I have set up a move out day for later this month and will be moving our belongings somewhere else. I feel they should be offering people discounts, not raising the rent. read more

On May 31, 2020 I rented a second larger storage unit in addition to the unit I had. When I went to move things into the unit, I discovered that the unit I rented had been fraudulenty rented out to someone else. They claimed I owed a $50 fee. My account is signed up for autopay and when I rented the second unit I was assured that the second unit would be included in the autopay I already had set up for the other unit. The staff was extremely unprofessional and biligerent. We were treated like criminals and told to leave the property as we were not authorized to be there. Fortunately I got this all on video. They refused to look at my documentation and refused to show me what their records showed. If you're thinking of renting a storage unit from Public Storage, heed my advice; RUN don't walk to another storage rental company!! read more

I have rented a storage unit here for about a year and a half. Despite a rent increase after the first year they can not seem to find the money to keep the gate operative so that they are providing the secure site I am paying for. The gate has been inoperative and left open for most of the year. Just need to find the time to move to another storage facility. read more

Had my belongs in here for several months. Went to move my stuff out to move back to Philadelphia and when I opened up the unit it was infested with ROACHES. I contacted the district manager to see what he can do for me now that my SUV is infested he told me to call my insurance company. No "I am sorry", no "what can we do to help you", nothing. I will never use another public storage facility ever and I use them regularly as I travel around the country for work. I will also be moving the unit I have in Philadelphia to another company. Tracy and Linda have been wonderful, kind, and helpful every time I have spoken with them. Everything is clean and well kept. My units are easy to get in and out of and they are also clean. I have seen a couple of small spiders in my unit, but this is South Carolina, there are bugs everywhere. I am very happy with my storage experience as we temporarily downsized before a big move. The reservation you make over the phone or online means absolutely nothing! I spent 45 minutes on the phone with a regional agent reserving a 10x15 climate controlled storage unit. I received an email and text confirmation. I even called the local storage facility where I was going to be renting with to confirm my reservation. The next my boyfriend and I went in to get a tour of the facility and to look at our unit, however, the computer systems were down so the property manager couldn't take us to our reserved unit but we saw another to get a gauge for size. We called back 3 days later when their systems were back up and running to confirm a third time! Upon arriving 2 days later to sign papers and buy a lock, the property manager informed us that no 10x15 climate controlled unit was available! All they had was a 10x20 cc. Instead of giving us the larger unit for the price we reserved (which is common elsewhere), she was going to charge the full price for the unit. THEN informed us we could make an online reservation with our phones to save a couple bucks (online has cheaper rates apparently). After spending the time to do all that with our phones, the 10x20 cc rate was $100 more expensive we we had to pay in full. And then also paid the administrative fee, insurance, AND paid for the lock--which is all standard but would have expected one of the fees to be waived (for making us go through all that trouble). Overall, I am completely dissatisfied with the customer service at this place. read more

Beware - Got a letter saying they needed to make upgrades to the unit we rented and we needed to vacate at our expense. We had to pay a mover to move us somewhere else for several hundred dollars. These were planned upgrades that were not previously disclosed to us. They gave us 2 months to vacate. However also got a letter saying the price was going up the last month!!! Their tone and constant badgering over everything is enough to want to call the BBB. Used facility for over two years. My rate was constantly increased with no notice or explanation. Went to office on the seventh to close account and settle up for what was owed. Not only wad I charged for the entire month - a total of 24 days after my belongings were moved - they charged a $30 late fee because I did not come in on the sixth. Crooked business practices that will be reported to BBB. Would never recommend. read more
