Go Greene is your friendly neighborhood hardware store, right next to Habana Outpost. Hubster sent me in search of clear caulk and a gun. Thankfully, Go Greene is open during the pandemic and are super helpful. I am definitely out of my element in a hardware store. I walked in, looked about in a minor haze, made eye contact with the staff, and he basically went and got everything for me and put me out of my misery. The prices seem very reasonable to me (but I'm a noob!) and the guys were super friendly. 5 stars for helping me out, getting me in and out quickly, and keeping us all safe and healthy in these very weird times. read more

This place is a great place for paint or any supplies you may need to fix up you home. The guy behind the desk, Adam, was extremely helpful and courteous. I am by far one of the pickiest people. Different shades of the same color look extremely different to me. I'm the type that could tell the difference between the red orange crayon over the orange red crayon. So picking colors for my new apartment was not the easiest task. But Adam made sure to take his time in helping me find the right shade of grey, brown, creme, and green. I brought swatches from different companies and he helped find the colors that were closest and similar. I have visited twice and will continue to return to get supplies. If you need a good, reliable, friendly, and honest assistant with paint or supplies Adam and this location are a great choice! read more

I highly recommend Go Greene Hardware to all living in the Clinton Hills, Fort Greene, Bedford-Stuyvesant and Park Slope vicinity, as well as any passersby, to satisfy your household and business needs. The staff, especially Adam, is extremely helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. It's very rare that you find someone who takes such a genuine interest in your needs, and Adam certainly went above and beyond my expectations. I am a huge fan of hardware stores and this is my all time favorite. I can't say how many times I've gotten the help I need to think through and resolve a repair. Every time I go in, I am met with warmth, kindness, and wisdom, something I could never say about the big stores (like Home Depot). Highly recommended! read more

Very nice people, but I had a set of keys made for my apartment and the one to my unit did not work. Brought it to another place the next day and told them that another shop had gotten it wrong, and the experienced locksmith took one look at the key and said, "yeah, a lot of people visually mix this type up when they copy it." Honest mistakes happen, but I do assume that people know what they're doing when they offer a service like this. Otherwise I might as well go to the key-copying kiosks that offer a guarantee that their copies will work. read more

Great local store. I asked them to make a bunch of keys and some of them didn't work because the originals were not great. They were very nice and ran new copies for me from a better original at no extra charge. Their customer service is excellent. read more

This is my local hardware store, and I've always had wonderful customer service here. It's a smaller shop so, obviously, the selection necessarily reflects that but I've never regretted stopping by, even if they don't have what I need. Once I came by after my cart started falling apart on the way home from Target, packed FULL. The staff there demanded to help me until the cart was good as new! Even when they had to saw through a metal part and after I awkwardly said I would be fine tried to leave (I would not have been fine). They wouldn't let me go until they were confident I was taken care of. Strongly recommend. read more

This place looks like a dump from the outside, but I thought I would give them a try. I brought some Benjamin Moore paint to replace. The guy at the register looked up and scolded me, "We don't sell exterior paint!" Like I'm an idiot for giving them the benefit of the doubt that they (1) have a full line of paint and (2) won't treat a customer like an idiot to cover up the fact they carry a full line of paint. This is one book you can judge by the cover. Stay away! I went to Mazzone's on Smith. They're way better than Go Greene. read more

Items are non-refundable and not returnable even if it it turns out to be the wrong size and you had to take it out of the package to figure that out. Now I am stuck with a $60 product I cannot use. read more

Just moved to the neighborhood and stopped here to get keys copied. Great little shop, had everything I needed (read: TP, paper towels, and those little label things to organize your keys). They did a great job with the keys for a reasonable price. It being moving day, I had an uncharacteristically large amount of cash money in my wallet (to pay the movers) and about ten million things on my mind as I waltzed out of there. About an hour later I realized that my wallet was missing and sprinted back -- the clerks had noticed it sitting adjacent to the counter and held it for me. They even said they were about to try to find me on Facebook to return it to me. She refused the reward money I tried to offer her and welcomed me to the neighborhood. seriously above and beyond. I doubt this would happen at a chain or big box store. Shop local -- your neighborhood scatterbrain needs places like this! read more

What a great place! Went to buy paint for my daughters apartment and Adam helped me by correctly predicting just how much paint I would need. I asked for a gallon and he talked me through the project and assured me a quart would do. And he was right! I appreciated his honesty and integrity. He could have easily kept his mouth shut and sold me the gallon. I was very impressed. read more

Love you guys, but you should sell compost bags now that Community Board 2 (this neighborhood) has compost bins. They give you little 3 gallon bins for your kitchen, so some 3 gallon compost bags would be good. Please make sure they're ASTM6400 Certified. UNNI makes some (I have no affiliation to UNNI). read more
