Giovanni replaced it perfectly. Good as new. Of course it was expensive but a heckuvalot more affordable than a new laptop! I was worried I wouldn't find a competent technician for this kind of delicate sophisticated electronics out here in the sticks, so I'm thrilled that 2nd Life could do this job and do it well. I guess I thought I'd have to take my laptop to Westchester or NYC, which would be pretty time consuming. I want to add that the first screen he received failed while still in his shop. So he had to order and install a second one, and I don't think he charged me any different even though it had to have been ~double the labor time. Plus - he obviously checked his work. And, he apologized for the delay, even though he didn't cause it. I don't know about you but a lot of things nowadays, people take shortcuts or don't care about the quality of work or just fail to do the simplest little checks to assure a job is done right. That's what separates the fly-by-nights from businesses which have been around for 30+ years. I recently damaged my flatscreen 32" LED TV, which is only a year old. Rather than buy another new one, I figured I'd try getting this one repaired. I called Mcvey Electronics twice around lunchtime, got an answering machine both times, and didn't leave a message. He took the initiative to call me back anyway, seeing that I had called, to see if he could help me with anything. Try getting Walmart or another big business to call you back. That shows quality, personable service. I spoke with the gentleman regarding the problem with my TV and explained that there was an impact strike beneath the LED screen. He was honest and up front, explaining that I could buy a new TV for around the same price it'd cost to repair this one. He could've attempted to repair it and charged me hundreds of dollars, but instead he chose to give me honest advice - and probably cost himself a repair job in the meantime. I am an electronics and radio enthusiast. I'll use Mcvey Electronics for any repair work that I ever need done, simply because his response time was fast and because he had the integrity to save me from a costly repair.

I had picked up a Hitachi television from 1976. I brought it into him and he cleaned it up. Did some work on dial that selects the channels. He put in a couple of capacitors. Because when I played a videotape on the television. You could see at the middle of the top and bottom of the screen there was some bending. Luckily, it wasn't the picture tube but just the need of a couple of capacitors. He also was able to put a new cord into a multiple CD player. As well as adjust a very nice voice of music turntable. That had stopped working. I also found a new old stock, Panasonic telephone combination answering machine. He put on a new belt and adjusted the cam gear. Next up is a pioneer RT 707 open real tape recorder that needs adjustment with some new belts. Probably a new speed regulator as well as lubrication. There are very few old-time electronic repairman left around. He said he gets work from multiple states and is always busy. The turnaround time and the prices are very fair. If you have a turntable, Home, tape deck, receiver, open real tape deck, tube radio. This is definitely the place to bring it. As Ken has been in the Repair business for over 40 years.
