FYI. People are getting discounts to post good reviews. They only have ONE VEHICLE registered with the Department of Transportation, if you're moving across states, you will be more than likely getting your things passed off to contractors. These people are scam artists. Their employees, including Janice, are all lip service and no action. Also, as people shopping around for moving companies, you should be aware that a few months ago they were hovering at 1-2 stars all around. And now they're miraculously at 4 stars? Yeah right. Marketing ploy if I've ever seen one. They screwed up my move so bad that one year later, I'm still fuming. read more

We had a terrible experience with this company on our move from San Francisco to New Mexico - in summary they charged us 50% more than the original non-binding estimate and then held our goods hostage until we refused to pay the balance in cash. My top two pieces of advice for those of you considering moving companies: 1) Only use a company that allows you to pay the entire balance with credit card. This way you have some recourse if they try to pull something fishy. Needless to say, with Go East it is cash only upon delivery. 2) KNOW YOUR RIGHTS! For interstate moves, refer to this document: https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/sites/fmcsa.dot.gov/files/docs/Rights-and-Responsibilities-2013.pdf As for our experience - after a household inspection, we were quoted a nonbinding estimate of 660 cubic feet. Several weeks later, when the movers arrived and the items were placed onto the truck, we were told the actual total was 930 cubic feet, resulting in a price increase of over 50% from the original non-binding estimate. The moving team in San Francisco told us they would re-measure the items upon arrival at the warehouse to ensure this was the correct amount. This never happened. Several months later I call Go East to tell them we are ready to have our items delivered to us. I explain that I still need to resolve the 660 vs. 930 issue. I'm told they'll look into it and get back to me. They never do. Just over a week later I get a call on a Saturday morning from the truck driver - he's arriving the next day between 10am and 3pm. The truck driver doesn't work for Go East - he's from a Brooklyn, NY based company that has been contracted to deliver our items. After corresponding with Go East a few times throughout the day (including a late evening phone call with the owner of Go East) I tell them I will only pay the non-binding estimate amount plus 10% upon delivery, with the remainder to be invoiced and payable within 30 days. This is what the FMCSA regulations stipulate. The owner keeps trying to negotiate with me, telling me he'll lower the price a few hundred dollars, but it's still substantially more than the original non-binding estimate. The next day, the driver refuses to unload the truck unless we pay the full amount (930 cubic feet) in cash on the spot. After thirty minutes of haggling, the truck drives away with all of our items in hopes that we will panic and agree to pay the full amount in cash that day. 10 minutes later I'm getting phone calls from both the owner of Go East as well as the boss at the contracted company trying to negotiate with me, but still offering a price higher than what I'm legally obligated to pay that day. They threaten to take my items to Texas and place them into storage there. I ultimately agree to pay around 25% more than the original non-binding estimate, and they then proceed to unload our items. Avoid the stress of putting yourself in a similar situation - pay a bit extra for a reputable company that follows the law. read more

So here's an update to my previous post about Go East Movers. Billie did answer the phone only after me using another line to reach out to her. At that point it had been more than ample time to get back to me. Her attitude was one of indifference and no sympathy but just the "I forwarded your complaints onto to my manager." kind of attitude. Her explanation of the service they provided to me was non-existent. It was not until later when she emailed me the claim forms she was apologetic. A week after that I received an email from Billie stating they pride themselves on customer service and that they would offer me a $150 refund IF I took down my Yelp review. So just to be clear, there was no follow up or checking in with me in regards to the horrible service. The only reason they reached out to me was to have me remove my Yelp review for $150. Not for your troubles but so they wouldn't get any bad reviews. I responded to her email detailing my grievances among other things. More specifically how a transfer service was supposed to be $250 but turned out to be $400 instead. They responded with $200 and nothing about my concerns and problems in the previous email. But in order to get the $200 I would need to remove my Yelp review. I have never received a phone call or email from this "manager" Billie mentions in our correspondence. I get canned responses and nothing in the way of a follow up from them. Our only correspondence has been in regards to me taking down my Yelp review. This is the type of customer service you can expect to have from them. read more

I was moving from San Jose to Austin and had no desire, physical strength or time to drag my stuff there myself. I didn't have that much stuff to begin with, so that helped, but still - U-Haul wasn't really an option, and it was also pretty expensive to drag everything to Texas by means of U-Haul. I never used a moving company before in my life, and I got freaked out by all the horrible scary reviews of movers showing up at people's homes drunk, throwing expensive china around and scamming everyone for more money. Go East Movers had good reviews and gave me a very low price too (under $1,000 without the packing), so I thought I'd go with them. It wasn't until a day before the move that I found a forum where people were talking about them, saying the good reviews are fake! Gosh, was I freaked out! I just had to go with it, there was no time to make changes. First things first - I got a quote by email, called to set up my pick up date, gave them an inventory of stuff, waited. Two very nice guys showed up exactly when they said they would, and called me beforehand to let me know they were coming. Very professional - wrapped my furniture in blankets, gave me the checklist... Important fact: you pay Go East Movers 3 times - an online deposit that you can pay with a credit card, and then you gotta pay them a portion during the pick up (cash) and the rest upon delivery (cash too, and they tell you that in advance, which was good - I don't normally have piles of cash sitting around). I was prepared to wait a month for my stuff to be delivered, because all the mover horror stories said exactly that - you wait for a month, and then a drunk rude guy brings everything broken and demands 3 times the money. Well, it only took 6 days for everything to get from San Jose to Austin! There was a different delivery person here - a super nice guy! He called the day before to let me know he'll be bringing my things, and then on the delivery date he was running a bit late and called again to let me know! Didn't really seem like a horror story at all. He showed up, brought everything in and didn't charge me anything above what was in my contract, even though our new place is not exactly easily accessible. None of my stuff was broken - all the glasses and plates didn't even crack, and even my bike that was wrapped in a blanket was fine. I am very pleased with Go East Movers and really recommend them. This is definitely not a fake review, for you skeptics out there. This was my actual experience. read more

I have moved three (3) times and this, by far, is the smoothest and quickest move I've ever made. Moving from Redwood City to San Leandro with the amount of items I have can easily stress an average person out. The last thing 8 want to worry about is hiring a moving company that is late, unreliable, rude and unprofessional. This team (Luis, Luis and Tony) is anything but! As promise, they called 30 minutes prior to their arrival. Rather then calling in the middle of the window provided (9:30-11AM), they started early 9:15AM. Perfect! Once they arrival, just a few quick directions and they ran with it. Moved quickly, efficiently and professionally. Bonus: They seem to be in a very pleasant mood! They won my trust, so once I finished vacuuming the place and locked up I left first while they rearrange the truck before heading off. 10 minutes behind me, they arrived to my new home. I showed them a quick tour and where to go, and once again - off they go! With little direction. I haven't been keeping up with my reviews so I thought I post it now before I get wrapped up with my professional and personal life. Verdict I would hire them again. From the move coordinator (Janice), to the movers, to the actual move - they were all excellent! Muchas Gracias for making my move so quick and painless! read more

I'm incredibly picky about who touches my stuff and how. Let's be honest about that first. From the office staff to the moving staff themselves, everyone was excellent. I have a lot of family heirlooms and antiques and they were treated very gently. The guys were quick, efficient, and courteous. They packed and moved a 3 bedroom 3-story townhouse in a single day. If you're looking for great movers with great prices and strong backs, you really want to work with go east. It's a pity I can't have these guys move my antiques around in my store they that good. read more

I moved today and used Go East Movers to get the job done. I found them to be very professional, courteous and respectul. They worked well as a synergistic team, provided good suggestions when asked and made good time on both ends. Best experience I've had with a moving company. Gordon handled the booking, was accommodating, and answered all of my questions. He was also timely in responding to my phone calls. The moving team called to give me a heads up 30 minutes before their arrival. Luis, Rogelio, & Francisco were consummate professionals. They took care with my belongings, gave constructive pointers on my shrink wrapping efforts (I shrunk wrapped my own things w/the help of YouTube), and they didn't slack off like movers I've had in the past. They were three very dedicated hard working guys. I recommend this company if you want a professional service at a reasonable rate. read more

I can honestly say these guys are super professional and very polite. They can on time and stayed until the job was done. They went above the call of duty. They put everything where we needed them to go. I would recommend them to my friends and use them again if I ever have to move again read more

I hired Go East Movers to move my daughter from Berkeley to San Rafael. It's a short distance but I knew that my family was not up to moving heavy furniture to a third story apartment with no elevator. My first contact was with Billie who explained the entire process to me so that there were no surprises, discussed all fees with me, and offered good suggestions. I spoke with several other companies, and found their rates to be competitive, so my decision was based on my interaction with Billie. Armando, Luis, and Alex arrived last Saturday (May 31, 2014) within the time window that I was given, called me to keep me informed of when to expect them, and were efficient, professional, friendly, and worked very hard - which I very much appreciated. The new apartment was on the third floor and they never slowed down even though I know they were getting tired after multiple trips up and down those stairs with large pieces of furniture. I spoke with the woman who owns the boutique in the first floor of the apartment building that my daughter moved out of in Berkeley. I spent a few minutes chatting with her in her shop. She asked for the company name and phone number so that she could recommend them to anyone that is need of movers. She said that she sees moving companies on a regular basis at the apartment complex and that this was the first time that she saw every piece of furniture wrapped with a blanket, every box sealed, the mattress covered, etc. She said that she has seen the worst and now she feels that she has seen the best. I don't think that people generally take the time to recognize a job well done, but always take the time to make a complaint. I wanted to take the time because I feel that they deserve praise. If I ever am in need of movers again, there is no doubt that I will be contacting Go East Movers. read more

10/22/15 UPDATE - Again - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY I demanded that someone call me from Go East Movers. The office manager called me and was a waste time. She cut me off on every sentence. Said numerous times that they have no legal obligation (she said legal at least 8 times) to provide further assistance. Bottom line -this company does not value their customers. "It's unfortunate that I had a bad delivery experience - she has no control over that!" Not an "I'm sorry" your pieces were broken, sorry the movers didn't show up as scheduled, sorry the scheduled delivery date was not correct. Her statement was - if I wanted my pieces covered I should have purchased additional insurance. They have no obligation to deliver my pieces unharmed. She said she would look at my invoice and see why it was so much higher than quoted. That the original person that quoted was not in the office. Of course. She said she delivered my info to the ops manager and if he felt that they should compensate me for the destroyed furniture then that is his decision. Not hers. I asked her why she called me then - her response was "I demanded someone call". Unbelievable! I asked to speak with the ops manager and she said he was not in the office very often and if he felt I should receive further communication he would have her call me! He would not have the time to talk to me. HANDS DOWN the worst customer service I have ever received. EVER 10/21/15 Stay Away! Not recommended for cross country moves. I would give them a ZERO if I could. I know all movers aren't created equal. This group.... missed out on the ethics class. For starters - they were 4 hours late coming to my home in California. The actual fee was $1000 over the quote amount - which I didn't understand because I itemized every single item. I could understand a couple boxes being nominal - but over a $1000 is unethical. I packed all my boxes they didn't have to deal with that but they sure charged me tons for tape and plastic - BEWARE! When I asked why my actual price was so much higher than the quote - I was told to call corporate. I was told the move would be 10-14 days from Ca to NC. I received a call after just a few days that they would be delivering tomorrow!!!! I scheduled my apartment lease around the delivery and was in a hotel. I had to request my lease early which thankfully they were able to accommodate. I was told by the mover that they would be there around 11. I waited. I waited. I waited. They called to say they would be there at 3pm. I waited. I waited. Keep in mind - this is an empty apartment. They called at 330 to let me know it would be around 6pm. I waited. I waited. They called at 630 to let me know it would be 7 or we could do the delivery the next day. I WAS FURIOUS!!! I was told to be at the apartment the next day at 7am. I was also told that if I were not there by 7 am they would charge me by the hour for every 15 minutes I was late. THEY WOULD CHARGE ME!!!!! Where was my compensation for waiting on them a WHOLE DAY ? I had two broken (unusable pieces of furniture - custom chair and a marble table that I paid $1000). I filed my claim with Anthem and 3 months later was told they would recommend that GoEast Movers pay me $66. Yep - $66 If you read the fine print... the delivery contract states that they pay based on the estimated weight of the item at .60/1.00. So 100 lbs = $66. FURIOUS! Not once was I advised on the insurance policy or how the insurance (or lack thereof) worked. I was silly enough to think that if you broke my items - you were responsible for the value. Even if they paid $.60/$100 on the VALUE - I would understand that logic. When I pulled my contract out to review.... the place where you are supposed to list items of value vs weight had N/A. This is not my writing. The mover had placed n/a in this area and never reviewed the need to list items' value vs them using the weight for damage compensation. I purchased the items a couple months prior to my move. They were in perfect condition when the movers wrapped the items. When they were delivered to me - they were destroyed. This company is operating a deceptive moving company. No wonder the moving employees don't care about handling your items with care - the company doesn't have to pay!!! My advise: Do NOT use GoEast Movers Do NOT allow a moving company to put N/A on any documents Make sure you list all items with a value AND make sure you have proof of the value. Yep - you will need proof of the value - like receipts! Be prepared to pay 30% more than your quote even if the itemized items are listed on the quote. You would think that you're protected when you turn over your personal property to a moving company with intent to handle your items with care. DONOT use GoEast Movers. Use a national brand that stands behind their name and reputation. This company does not care about your or your personal items.! read more

Anton and his crew were so fast and thorough! We needed to move a town away (40 min drive over a hilly road). They carefully wrapped our furniture, took apart 2 beds, loaded the truck, drove over the hill, and unpacked everything in 3.5 hours flat! Highly recommend this crew and their service! It's worth noting that the company (apparently by law) charges double for driving time. They didn't explain this until the movers got there... So we paid for an extra 40 mins of time, which came out to be a bit much. So 5 stars for the mover crew, 3 for the company. All and all though, this was likely the same price and far less of a hassle than renting a uhaul. read more

Great movers. I had signed up for 3 movers and a truck, they showed up with just 2. But they did accomodate the change in price and the two movers were fast. I didnt realize that a man was missing. 5 stars for good and speedy service without damaging any of my stuff. read more

I hired them for a move across country. The quote was fine but once they arrived and picked up the furniture they nickeled and dimed me for everything, so expect to pay more then they initially quote you. Billie was my contact person, she was great when assisting me with my order but once my money was in their hands she no longer responded to numerous emails or phone messages that I left for her. I will no longer use this company in the future, I had referred friends and family members to them but I have cautioned them of what I experienced and they too will no longer use this company. read more

Take this review as you like. I've broken down my experience so it doesn't sound like an uninformed rant. Note: My move was not local, but rather across the country. Movers - The movers to and from were professional and I would work with them again. However, the mover who delivered my products scuffed the walls next to my stairway. He didn't inform us of this, we saw the damage after it was done and he had driven away. Time - It took twelve days to deliver my items. So if you're moving across the country, don't be in a rush because they will not deliver. They did let me know when the items were leaving the warehouse, however, they called twice. The first call they told me my items were leaving, but it wasn't so, my things left the next day when they called again. When I contacted them about it, the response was pretty much "It's within the laws." It was ridiculous to wait for so long. If waiting is not a problem for you, then disregard the time piece. Price - The quote was reasonable, the final price was horrendous. They will charge for everything on top of the price quoted. For example, they say they will provide free covers, however, they will not tell you they will "have" to use plastic too which they charge for. To save time, frustration, and money, buy your own plastic and tons of tape. Over $50 added for moving supplies alone. Payment - This was the worst part. They're billing system is not safe in the least bit. In addition, the full payment is required before they deliver the items. To be fair, it would make sense to receive payment upon fulfillment of contract, but it's otherwise with Go East Movers. When the driver came by to pick up my items he had a copy of the CC authorization form. The issue: it included my full CC number, CVV, address, basically everything required for someone to go on a shopping spree. I was mortified and pissed. Take this as it is. In my circumstance, I will not use them again. read more

Let me just say if you are thinking of using this company go read the one star reviews and listen to what they have to say. Be warned if things go wrong they are not interested in making it right. Also so not think all small movers are like this company. I have shipped with a small mover before from Modesto to Pacifica and they were wonderful. Everything arrive just fine with nothing missing or damaged. Now let's get into the specifics. Summary of my experience I was quoted $2,500 and required to pay in advance. Once the crew had packed and loaded my goods on the truck I was told you must pay an extra $1,000 cash to the truck driver that delivers the goods. When the goods arrive many items were damaged and several boxes were either lost or stolen. The claims process was complex and offered little hope of recovering my losses The job: Pack up my one bedroom apartment in Pacifica, CA and move the goods to Reno, NV. They call this a "Full Pack" meaning they pack everything into boxes and move them along with the furniture and deliver to your new home. They put furniture in place and you unpack the boxes. They quoted me $2,500 based on photos I sent them but they said they really just quote my square foot and size. "No hidden charges" is what they said. Read on. Event: The pick up crew foreman was not interested in answering any questions. If I asked a question I was told "As I told you before ...." I just gave up asking questions as they would not be answered. This was a big red flag and if my moving schedule would have allowed it I would have sent the crew away and found a new company. Also the packing crew shared they had no training in how to do this work. They just come out and do the best they can. Once the truck was loaded the foreman said I did not tell them the right number of boxes of goods and that I must pay $1,000 cash to the truck driver when my good arrive in Reno. I told him I did not tell anybody how many boxes there would be this quote was done by your office. He told me he can't do anything about it. My Advice: Do not allow yourself to be trapped into a mover. Be prepared to send them away if when they arrive if you do not feel comfortable with what is going on. Event: When to goods arrived at my new apartment damage was noted to some items and one item had severe damage due to improper padding. The glass was smashed and wooden frame broken. The inventory of my goods was useless as when the boxes arrived several of them did not have an inventory sticker. It was impossible to know what did or did not arrive but in retrospect it did not matter in that unless you verify what is packed in every box and that every box and piece of furniture has an inventory sticker you will never know what will or will not arrive. My Advice: Pack your own boxes and make a inventory of every item in each box. Number your own boxes so that it is clear when something is missing. Event: After unpacking it was clear many boxes were missing. I would discover more things missing in the following weeks when I went to get something and discovered it never made it to my new apartment. I soon figure out that the boxes that were missing all had items with liquids in them. This began to make sense in that I have a large whisky collection that the crew promised me would be packed and shipped without a problem The problem was it did not all arrive and then other things that went missing were in boxes that contained liquid items such as soy milk and mouth was (just bought a three pack from Costco). My Advice: Again pack your own boxes. The whisky that arrived in fact was packed well and arrived just fine. I leave it up to you to decide why only boxes with that had liquids in bottles never arrived at my apartment. Also several of the boxes that contained whisky never arrived. This was not low cost whisky so every bottle missing was at least a $50 loss so much more. Event: I contact the office and explained the situation. They sent me a claim form. The claim form wanted me to provide proof that I owned the furniture that was shipped by provide purchase receipts and such. I did not try to submit a claim and I did not see a reasonable result even if I went through the process (see other Yelp reviews on this company by people who did try to get payments from the claims process). So I contacted the company and said you promised no hidden charges and then charged my an additional $1,000. You destroyed or damaged several items and then many boxes went missing and your inventory system failed. If you refund the $ 1,000 we can call it even. They refused My Advice: Read the claims process careful and then determine how you will be able to provide the required information to recover from lost, stolen, or damanged items. If you don't think you will be able to don't ship with the company. Further actions I will be filing complaint with the regulatory agencies they listed themselves as being licensed by and will update. read more

Summary: I used Go East to move from San Francisco to Baltimore. They were the cheapest company I found (about 57 cents per lb)...and I got what I paid for. I had previously moved from the east to the west coast, and used a top of the line, expensive company (Allied)...and I got what I paid for. Great service through the entire process. The Problems with Go East: - You set up your entire move on the phone and estimate your own weight. You receive no contract or detailed information until the movers show up to load your stuff. - You will be told on the phone that you must designate an earliest date that you can have your stuff delivered. The representative will tell you that your belongings will be delivered 7-14 business days after your earliest designated date. If you read your contract closely, when you eventually get it...after they already have all of your belongings, you will find that the actual delivery window is anywhere from 3-30 days after they take your stuff. That is a huge difference from what you are told on the phone. Even if you press the representative for more information about your delivery window when you schedule your move, they will continue to tell you the window is 7-14 business days after your designated earliest move in day. This is simply not true. It is simply a lie. - After your belongings are taken by the movers, you receive an email with the 'actual' weight of your belongings. Your total bill is adjusted for this amount. There is no way of verifying the 'actual' weight that they come up with. You simply have to trust them. In my case, my weight was about 2,000 lbs more than my estimate, or nearly double the estimated cost - After the initial deposit ($100 paid over the phone) you can only pay cash or money order for the rest of your move. This is a red flag. How many reputable companies do you know of that will only accept cash or money orders for multi-thousand dollar bills? - You will be told that the driver will call you one day before they will arrive. When my driver called, he told me that he would be at my new home around 2pm the following day, and that he would call 1 hour before his arrival. He called me the next day at 3pm to tell me that he would arrive with my belongings at 10pm that night. I told him that time was unacceptable. He showed up the next day at 8 am. - Go East, like most long distance moving companies, is a middleman, or broker. They contract a company to pick your stuff up, one to transport it, and one to drop it off. Essentially, you pay them to set up those contracts, coordinate with these companies, provide you with customer service, and make the logistics relatively hassle free for you. Go East leaves you to coordinate with the company that drops off your belongings. In my case, I found myself doing a large portion of the job I had paid Go East to do. - The movers that delivered my belongings claimed that large furniture would not fit through my front door (couch, desk, etc.). They said they would leave it on the street. I would not accept that option and was forceful about the fact that they needed to bring those items inside. The large items fit through the door with no problem. The Good Things About Go East - It's relatively cheap, or least your estimate will be. Conclusion: If I had to do it again, knowing all of this information, I would not choose Go East (the cheap provider). I also wouldn't choose the high end (Allied - as I did for my first cross country move). I would choose a company somewhere between those two. Moving across the country is rough, even when everything goes smoothly. Don't pay this company thousands of dollars and let them add to your stress. read more

I don't normally write reviews but I'm starting to get a little frustrated with this company. All of them were amazing. They were super helpful and upfront about everything. Once the movers came to drop everything off a couple items were broken. I didn't file a report or anything because they were items I could easily replace The problem I am having with them right now is the fact that they didn't deliver one item in particular and it's really starting to p!ss me off! It was something special and pretty damn expensive and now I get a feeling I'm never going to see it again which really has me on edge I've emailed them MULTIPLE times called MULTIPLE times and it's been well over a month and still NOTHING! The first time I emailed them about the problem (Janice) she said she will help me figure out what went wrong and why I didn't get my item. I was like ok cool! Made me feel better.. That was the last I heard lol. I'm pretty pissed off and for that alone I wouldn't recommend this moving company. I don't care how nice they were in the beginning if you tell me you're going to help me locate an EXPENSIVE item YOU guys LOST then FIND IT! Don't just tell me what I want to hear and never speak to me again. I WANT MY STUFF BACK! AND.. Just a heads up. As I was watching the guys unload our stuff to bring it in our house I saw them just throwing our stuff out of the truck.. And witnessed them throwing out the box that had our large tv in it.. I opened that box the second it got in the house and I am beyond thankful we bubble wrapped the crap out of it. I am overall upset with this whole situation and even though it's a cheap move.. Is it really that cheap when you're there replacing half the stuff you own because they aren't careful with your stuff? And losing your stuff. read more

I was forced to give this place 5 stars since they offered a 5% discount (which amounted at about $60). They charged me over a grand to move what I would estimate at $600. Be weary of the extra charges. It's ridiculous how much they slacked off. The "30 minute" break was timed at 55 minutes. I even spent 5 hours helping their lazy, useless @$$*$ (posteriors). Ugh!! Do not use these lazy movers. Go west!!! Not east!!! read more

My experience with Go East Movers started in the spring of 2013. I was moving from Berkeley to the east coast--place undetermined as I was applying for jobs and looking at grad schools. I received a reasonable quote from Go East and was pleased to begin my relationship with them. Fast forward to mid-June. Three very nice, polite guys showed up about three hours after the time I was told they would be there. When I brought this up to them they explained how it works on their end. While I was annoyed that this time hiccup happened (I got a much later start on my drive east and was unable to say a final good bye to a good friend), it was clearly not the fault of the movers and I chalked it up to a miscommunication. The guys carefully wrapped all of my furniture in blankets and retaped some of the boxes that I had haphazardly done myself the previous day. They were pretty speedy and had my house emptied and the truck loaded in a few hours. One of the two stars is for them. Now, when I left Berkeley I didn't have a definite delivery address so my stuff was going to a storage unit in San Jose until I called with an address. This had been arranged months in advance. On August 15 I decided to move to New Hampshire. I called Go East to give them my address and was told the 7-10 day delivery window was now 21 days because NH is a little out of the way. I was fine with this. I was also told that my stuff would leave San Jose early the following week. The next week I didn't hear anything from them, so I called to follow up. After days of phone tag I was finally told that my stuff hadn't left. The cycle of being given a day that my stuff was for sure leaving in the next day or so, hearing nothing, playing phone tag to finally being told that my stuff had not yet left went on for a month. Finally, I lost my patience. I called and left a voicemail threatening to sue for breach of contract and file a police report. I got a call back almost immediately and was assured that my stuff was leaving the next morning and I would have my stuff the following Monday or Tuesday. After several more frustrating phone calls I was finally given the number of the guy driving the truck with my stuff on it. When I asked about a Monday or Tuesday delivery time he said that wasn't possible based on when he received my stuff--so my stuff couldn't have left San Jose when Go East claimed it did. That weekend two very nice men showed up with my stuff. Apparently, they have nothing to do with Go East and were contracted out because Go East couldn't secure a truck. These two guys were super quick. They assembled furniture, took plastic and other waste with them, and put everything exactly where I asked. My landlord had given me little adhesive floor protectors to put under my furniture and these two guys meticulously made sure they were in place. The second star is for them. To summarize--the one thing Go East does well is hire solid movers. Other than that their management is a disaster and they are not truthful about when stuff will leave/arrive. Maybe my experience would have been different if I was moving locally, but I would definitely not recommend them for long-distance moves. read more

This was my first move using a moving company. After my experience, probably will never use a mover again. I purposefully got a "will not exceed" estimate so I would avoid issues upon delivery. While the movers loaded my kitchen, multiple times I heard glass breaking, but no one approached me to explain. Then the truck they brought was not big enough. On the receiving end, my hope of a hassle-free delivery did not happen. I was forced to pay an over weight charge (remember my "will not exceed" estimate). That took a few months to get refunded. Then there were the missing and broken items, including dents on the face of my stainless steel refrigerator. I was told by the delivery boss that I had two months to make a report of missing and damaged items. After making a claim that denied my missing items because they were not listed on the bill of lading, persistence and determination were required. First the company uses three different addresses, depending on where you look. This makes communication difficult. They communicate through one unfortunate woman, Billie. The company refuses to reveal the last name of the owner, so letters had to go to Walter S. Not very professional. Only after making it clear I was not giving up until they made things right, did they agree to refund me some money to partially pay for the items they took, but did not deliver. Oh, and don't forget the damage to the brand new house. I cannot in good conscience recommend this company, even to someone I don't like. read more

I used Go East for my self-paid move of household goods from Sunnyvale, CA to South Florida in early 2016. The Go East people were responsive and attentive during initial assessment period. But my experience with them degraded severely once they had a signed contract and deposit money. The cost of the move was more than 50% over their original estimate. So be very careful about making a decision to use Go East based on their lower cost estimate. They seem understaffed and the contractors they use for delivery were, in my case, very poor quality. They also forced us to pay another $2000 at the last minute to deliver our furniture by using a ruse about requiring a local "shuttle" service delivery truck that was basically a scam. Caveat emptor when dealing with this "company." read more

Good job done by Go East Movers for a fair price! They sent 3 guys instead of two, which is awesome because we just have too much stuff for 2 people. Many of the other places I spoke with didn't have 3 men available. They were also super flexible on schedule, both by having last minute availability as well as agreeing to change our move date when we got sick at the last moment. They followed instructions to the letter and were in communication even before they arrived. We would use them again and they made our move a breeze! Thanks! read more

When moving these are the guys you need. I got several quotes and the best rate was from Go East Movers. They just helped me move 2 hours away while my husband was at work the whole time so I had no other help. Four guys showed up with a truck and plenty of extra blankets, boxes, etc to help. They started working right away and man are they fast and strong - they're also a bunch of really friendly nice guys, which took away a lot of my stress. They really know what they're doing and do a fantastic job throughout the entire move from door to door. I highly recommend them and would use them again without even considering another moving company. I'm adding to my earlier review because I am disappointed in finding some broken furniture after the movers left and the move cost twice what my original quote was. I thought I had such a good experience that I overlooked the cost, and gave a generous (in terms of what I can afford) tip. I'm really upset to find beyond repairable damage to my $400 tv stand, and the thing that upsets me most about it is that I was not told about this damage when they were here. They broke the stand and threw a bunch of packing tape around it to blatantly cover the damage. When I went to move the stand I thought there was just packing tape leftover so I removed it only to have the bottom corner of the stand fall off, making the whole thing useless since it can't even hold weight without tipping over now. I feel so foolish that this was hidden from me and I just happily thanked everyone like an idiot. It made me think of how earlier I noticed that the back of one of my shelving units was cracked in half on the back and missing the bottom piece. I brought this to one guys attention and he said he was aware of that damage and they were going to tape it for me. Now I have some jenky looking packing tape across the back of my shelf. I looked past that at the time although I was surprised they didn't tell me instead of waiting for me to bring it up. There was broken glass near the truck which I asked about and was told it was a piece in one of my plant pots. Fine, not expensive, but still - tell me about it instead of waiting for me to ask about one of my things. So in retrospect, I'm upset about not knowing about the damage ahead of time and now feeling like someone was trying to pull one over on me as if I'm stupid. I'm really angry about having to replace an expensive tv stand. We don't have a lot of money so maybe my furniture isn't the most expensive but just earlier today I had pieces that were able to be used and at least looked decent. Accidents do happen and I'm the type of person who easily looks past minor things, however it's better to own up to these mistakes and say something instead of letting the customer find out later. read more

Terrible services. NO. 1 suggestion: PLEASE PAY BY CREDIT CARD!! I'd also like to return the F***** words I received from your movers (probably Anthony, along with a couple of others), F******** YOU BACK, Janice Garcia!! To start with, I got - lots of missing stuff; I will elaborate later; - missing/broken screws --- they disassembled my stuff but claimed it's not their responsibility to assemble, and even worse, they missed many of the screws and broke many others. it took me so much time to find replacement screws! - over pricing: they told me that the price will be based on the actual volume my household goods in their truck, but when they packed/moved to their truck, a) they counted a significant amount of goods that was already in the truck and obvious does not belong to me; b) they put my stuff there in the way that wasted so much space --- to the extent that I suspected that they did that on purpose. - the movers were very rude, in a way like robbers, with frequent dirty words, I mean those f**** words to me!!! - the movers took a much longer time to pack than scheduled --- scheduled for about 3 hours, but it took them more than 5 hours, probably beyond 6 if we include the time for the paperwork because they refused to sign/make needed notes (overall about 10am -- 4pm) Now it's the time for the missing/broken stuff: they've got so much stuff broken and missing, and it took me so much time and effort to get compensated! For example, they broke my mattress --- they packed the mattress and broke it, and then the insurance company claimed it's not packed by them, but during the packing, UPON THEIR REQUEST, I did not even touch the mattress. After tens of emails of argument, with threatening to report the dispute to my credit card company and potentially other authorities (such as BBB), they sent me a $200 check after MORE THAN THREE MONTHS! They damaged many of my other furniture items, such as my major nice couch, multiple cabinets, tables, bookcases, but they claimed that I should have reported them within 48 hours --- I heard from multiple people the time to report, ranging from a few weeks to a couple of months (maybe for different types of items) and I reported within the shortest period they provided, but they still refused to take the claim. I did not argue with them on this since I do not have that much time and energy on this. Again, NO.1 suggest, pay with your credit!! read more

Go East Movers moved me from CA to TX in December 2011, and I was extremely pleased with their service. I need them again to move back to CA, but they don't have service from TX to CA. I am so disappointed, that they can't move me back. Now, I have to research another company! :-( read more

***Please Beware DO NOT USE Go East Movers Awful, service, not reliable, stingy, and so much more*** 1st off the cancelled on me the same day didn't let me know they were not showing up until 1 hour 30 min after my schedule time frame. Then I'm not even scheduled till the next day but wasn't even given a time frame for the move. I had to call several times to confirm, due them canceling on me way last second. I had to cancel and reschedule all my doctors appointments, my children were unable to go to school, I had to pay for a truck and other people to help me move some of my belongings. Then to make matters worse, the movers didn't follow through with the guarantee of Service left all mine and my kids belongings such as bed, coach, coffee table stacked up high in no way I would be able to reach the items. They left boxes all over the place, even though I had them labeled to free up any confusion. The movers did a horrifying job, I can't get to any of my belongings, they worked at snail pace. My children's beds, mattress, clothes all over the place.. My kids came home to tears and the very next day was my sons birthday... To top it off they tried to charge me over $ 800.00 and then I spent another 2 hours trying to get a lady in customer service to help me out with that situation.. Please don't use this company for any moving needs, I was in tears due to lack of professionalism, work integrity and the movers did not stand by the promise of work.. I will suing then In smalls claims court, I did not authorize my Credit card to be charged, I did not sign the final contract, I did not receive a breakdown in charges.. read more

Jesse, Junior, and Isaac showed up right at the beginning of the pickup window and called me 20 minutes before to let me know they were coming. They packed the truck quickly and helped pack some valuable items, including my full size digital piano. On the delivery side they unloaded quickly and placed everything where I wanted it. All in all took about 4 hours start to finish and made moving easy. read more

A trio of guys (Arthur, Isaac and Alonzo) came and knocked out the entire move in 2 hours!! It baffles me how efficiently they moved such heavy furniture, dismantled and re-assembled furniture and helped me set up my new place. Awesome stuff. For all that service, price is more than fair but could be even greater. Definitely will call them again for my next move.. read more

All and all great service and stress free. The items were very fragile and expensive and they handled them with care and got them to us safely. We hired go east movers for movement from Cupertino to San Ramon. We are very happy with their service. The crew Efrain and his associates were very helpful and came on time and even helped us in packing though we didn't signed them up for packing. Over all packing and loading and unloading and moving furniture was carefully done. There is no damage to the stuff. I would recommend them highly. read more

I am being moved right this very minute by GO EAST MOVERS! Larry and Tony are the BEST two guys ever. First they are the nicest men, they are clean, they are polite, they really know what they are doing. I don't like moving, but these gentlemen have made this experience so nice and so easy, I highly recommend this company for your next move! The gentlemen were extremely careful with all of my belongings. There was absolutely no damage, NOTHING was broken, chipped, scratched, bumped or anything. They placed the furniture where I wanted it. And when I changed my mind about where I wanted something, they didn't care, they moved it again. I just can't say enough good things about. Thank you Larry and Tony and GO EADT MOVERS! read more

I moved from the West bay to the East bay. Alex was amazing. He moved everything and checked in with me to be sure that everything was where I wanted it. They were very cautious wrapping the open storage bins so that items didn't get tossed around during the ride to my new location.. The only mishap was a Soy Sauce bottle had come open and spilled on my new carpet during the offload but I was able to clean it up. The only casualty was my glass blender which I will replace. We had to sit in traffic in the East Bay as the truck didn't leave the west bay until 4:30. They had to unload in the dark and did so admirably. The price was reasonable. Movers take the stress out of having to bug your friends for help. Thank you for your service! read more

I just moved last weekend from Union City to Dublin. Very happy with the service they show up on time, I had 3 guys they were great packed my handle my stuffs very well. Especially all the large stuffs like refrigerator, the wrapped with blanket to make sure its not damage my wall when they moved it up stairs. I am very happy with the service and excellent prices. I would give them 5 stars if their workers were on uniforms, I think it would made me feel more secure that they are professional. But overall they were great for the price I paid :) read more
