I'm not an overly fussy guy but my hair has so much volume that is looks very mushroomy when not cut right. Unfortunately, when I cheap out (yeah, SuperCuts) it always comes out awkward. Platinum knows how to cut hair. Nathan in particular. That man looked at my hair for a full five minutes like it was a block of immaculate granite. Finally, he saw the piece of art that was hiding within and let it free. Everyone's nice and participates in salon-wide banter which is a great diversion while getting your hair cut. The prices are incredibly reasonable considering the effort and time they put into your hair. I usually pay 30-40 bucks and tip 10. Honestly, for the quality, the price seems a bit cheap if you ask me.

I should have known better than to go anywhere but Lawrenceville for quality. (It's already been reviewed at Citysearch: http://pittsburgh.city...) What's to love? -Beautiful interior; high ceilings; flowers all over the salon; inviting, warm colors. -John. John! JOHN!! Amazing. He's funny, sassy, engaging, and attentive. -Location is great. Right across from the gorgeous 47th St. entrance to the cemetery, and not too far from New Amsterdam (bar) and Ambiance (vintage shop). What's not to love? -John ran over about 20 min with his appointment before me. I don't mind waiting some at a salon; it's not a science, so running over is acceptable. But when it's 20 min., the receptionist needs to acknowledge that, apologize, and give me an estimate. This receptionist sucked. She just asked me to have a seat and then disappeared. Flighty, bad ink, and said absolutely nothing after I paid her. This salon deserves better. -No website; and what does come up for them on Google is a site for a like-named salon in Wichita. Overall, I'm relieved. I found a salon I like and a stylist who is awesome. Now to work on getting on that needed staff change....

Avoid this place at all costs. The hairdresser working here (and there was only one) was real nasty…read morewhen I tried to tell her how I wanted my hair cut, as if I had no right telling her. And she was wearing a shower cap, like she just got out of the shower. I had been coming here for 30 years and they used to be really good, but not anymore. A shame. And she took a big chunk out of my hair, because of which I had to go to another hairdresser's in order to get it blended and layered to fix that spot. Also, I overheard this same hairdresser thanking another customer for giving her a tip, saying something to the effect of, "I appreciate that, we have to eat too, you know." I thought that was a pretty low and unprofessional way of thanking someone for a tip. I actually did not feel safe in this place, I was so glad to get out. And there's always dangerous looking young kids hanging out in front on the sidewalk now too, I'm not sure what's up with that.

It's possible to get a bad haircut because you didn't communicate properly, but that was not the case this time. They could see perfectly well where my natural hairline was, and I told them to start out just taking off an inch, and I told them not to cut so high. So they listened to neither me, nor their own common sense about how it would end up looking. They did a good job on the most unflattering haircut I could have...I am never going back.

My first time visiting a salon in several years. This place cam with yelp recommendations so I…read moretried it out. Overall its small but nice and relaxing inside they do offer you a beverage. Scheduling was not a huge wait or hassle I believe I was able to schedule in about one week or less time. Price I honestly felt is average for a "high end" salon. Most I have been to charge in the 40-60$ range for a cut. I got a short cut and it was 46, which was nice because I thought it would be higher so I was able to tip him well. Now onto my cut.... It came about pretty nice I am happy with it some things to consider... I have not had a stylist in 3.5 yrs I had been cutting it myself. I was really ready to chop it all of so I was super filled with gratitude. I think I did not give my stylist full free reign to choose a short style for me, so I think he found a decent medium space between not over short for me. I do wish things like texture ends around my face and bangs he had used more point cutting on. More scissors vs razor or texturing shears which he used quite a lot. Those are just the small details that change a cut from I like to it I love. None the less I like it and I am pretty happy. My guess is that they maybe don't do a ton of short cuts here, seemed to be some trophy wife clientele and young college girls with longer hair. I cannot review color I did not get any color here.

Inside is clean, neat and very well designed. I came in for a gel removal and regular manicure. Danny was the person I saw and he was amazing. Light and careful to the touch, very detailed when painting (especially since I got regular polish and not gel) and did an amazing manicure. My manicure took about 30 minutes, then I let my nails dry and waited for my partner to finish theirs. They offer high quality services and for a good and competitive price. A classic pedicure is $40, gel pedicure is $55 and deluxe pedicure is $60 ($80 with gel). Gel manicure is $40, gel x is $75, deluxe regular manicure is $45 and classic manicure is $30. When I came in here it had been a long time since I had my nails done. I was immediately told to…read morego ahead and pick out a nail polish after I checked in. I explained I wanted beige or a natural tone but then the nail tech insisted I get a color. I caved and thought, sure, why not. I regret it because it was a cat eye moonstone purple and greatly clashed with my look and skin tone. I don't know what I was thinking. I understand that wasn't her fault, that's my silly impulse pick. The part I didn't like was how even though I told her my nails were really brittle, she used what was like a nail Dremel on them, getting them so achingly thin that you can see it looks pinker than my normal nail because the blood flow is more to the surface since the nail is so thin. When I later took the nail polish off, my nails are now impossibly thin and look so much worse than before. I expected to get a fresh lift and clean slate, clean off the skin and buff them to health but instead it felt like they were trying to hook me on their services so I'd have to keep coming back and paying over $100 for gel and faux strength on my nails. My friend's nails looked awesome though, even though it took like two hours.
