I've been here twice, and both times were great experiences. The first time I came in here December 2015, I got all of my relaxed hair shaved off, and he did it perfectly! He saved as much hair as he could; he didn't get 'razor happy' which I greatly appreciated. Furthermore, he took the time to shape up my edges and he charged me about $20. In November 2016, I came back with medium-length natural hair to get my ends trimmed, and she did an excellent job. Again, she wasn't 'scissor happy'; she took off exactly what needed to come off. She even told me that my ends weren't that bad, but I might have been shedding to the dye in my hair. She twisted my hair as she trimmed it allowing me to leave the salon with full body. She charged me $18, which wasn't bad. Whenever I need something else, I'll return to this salon to see if they can work more magic. read more

I was visiting from out of town and found Natural Choice on Yelp. I called and L answered and got me into the schedule on a Saturday afternoon. The service was pleasant and he took great care of my natural styled hair. He was personable, listened to what I was looking for and exceeded my expectations, and as a female I'm selective about who touches my hair! I highly recommend them and will definitely visit again. Don't really understand the negative reviews on here. I walked in about 45 min before they closed and didn't have an appointment. I was greeted by Al I think. He was a very cool, professional guy. Although the waits can be a bit long, the Natural Choice is a no-brainer for any guy who has short hair or facial hair that needs to be cleaned up. It's a traditional black barber shop but the clientele spans all demographics. All the barbers on staff are very good at what they do and give you your money's worth in terms of service and attention. If you have a buzz cut or a similar hairstyle, there's no sense in getting a 10 minute Supercut when you can have a true professional shape you up for the same price. read more

Do not go here for a haircut if you have curly (2C to 3C) hair. The salon portion might be good but I did not have a good experience with the barber side of the shop. The barber I went to tried to use a comb on my curls and when I told him not to, he decided to blindly cut off chunks of my hair and it ended up looking very uneven. Also, he decided to give me a haircut that was not what I asked for because he said it would make me look more feminine, which came off as very sexist. Pro Tip: do not assume what your client wants. Update: the haircut was so bad that I had to find somewhere else to fix it after a few days. GO TO P'S BARBERSHOP in North O if you're looking for a good haircut. read more

I have been to many salons. Some have been in good standing and some I will never visit again. I have no qualms about this one. The stylists have a really good eye for aesthetics and are not afraid to take risks, it may be odd but no other place has made me think so much about hairstyles and how they can have an effect on other aspects of your appearance. The stylists are not afraid to push the envelope and most practice what they preach. This place has been around for a while and I hope it stays a while longer. read more

In town for business and needed a cut after checking Yelp decided to give this shop a go. Glad I did. Right near U Pitt, decor cool and conversation all NBA..and a little LA/OC where I'm from. I went there to start my locs. My appointment was with Jasmine. She started my hair almost an hour after my schedule appointment. The twist was okay at first but the next day half my twists came out. I text her and told her what happened. She asks me to send a picture and I send her a picture. It's been two weeks and I still have not heard back from her. So I had to have someone else retwist my hair. They have poor customer skills. I feel as though I wasted my $75. She did not offer to redo them. I am so disappointed, not a happy customer. read more

Had an appointment for 1:30 didn't get my hair touched until 2:00 had to put over 5:00$ in the meter just so my car wouldn't get towed. They started 1/3 of my hair as soon as a customer came in she made me wait 30 minutes to wash & complete the guys hair. By the time she was finished with his hair it was 3:50pm I have work at 4:30 pm.. they didn't finish my hair until 4:15 pm.. the hairstylist also went to buy a pizza then had the nerve to charge me 50$ after I told her I couldn't wait any longer. Avoid at all costs. I asked for a high top fade which is a haircut I get regularly, and this guy clearly had no idea what he was doing. He played around with the haircut till he got something that remotely looked like it. He dug out the center for my hair and left me with a bald spot on my nappy hair. If you are going there for a basic fade or an average cut then they may be able to get the job done but if you like fresh haircuts or different looks, then avoid. I love coming to natural choice hair salon, my hair dresser is Ms Cherry and she is the best. Whatever I ask her for she give me just what I want and it looks amazing every time I will never go any where else. If Cherry ever leaves natural choice I will follow her.
