After moving to town, I've been trying to find a great barber. I've had a few misses at other shops, but I landed in Ryan Graham's chair yesterday -- and I'm coming back 100%. I brought a photo for the consult. We talked about how to translate the look for my dome, and then Ryan went to work. The place looks exactly how a first rate style master's domain should. Total man cave, but in a GQ magazine. Bourbon, sports nostalgia, pin up girls, comfortable furniture, and great music (Summer Heat via Spotify is that's your thing). The resulting hair cut is exactly, precisely what I was hoping I'd walk out with. That rarely ever happens. I didn't have to point out a spot he missed, I didn't have to bury a feeling of dread - no, instead, I'm so damn happy. Bring your cash because your plastic is no good here. Rudy is an artist! I've been going to Rudy for 2 years now, and every cut has been more than I could hope for. I have a receding hairline and a balding spot from stress. What makes him an artist is that he is able to blend all the defects perfectly so that no one would notice! Rudy takes his time to cut hair and does an absolutely wonderful job. Amazing! I can't say enough about this barber shop. Must make an appt. Making an appoint was extremely easy. They easily were able to fit in a 4 pm haircut the day of when I scheduled it around noon. I have to mention that this was not only an amazing haircut but also extremely long overdue. About 10 months overdue at least. It was about time and the barbers there were able to turn the hair into something sophisticated & not too overly "hipster" or too youthful. I must also say, female friendly barbers. While there two women were getting their hair done/ waiting. I hate to speak for others but one is a friend, neighbor & identifies as queer. When you walk into Grahams you will be greeted with a hello and a feeling that you have found a spot that you will continue to come back to for as long as you live in the burgh. This place has a very family/relaxed vibe. I came to grahams because my go to shop had shut down. I am glad that it didn't take much searching to find my new home. First off I need to say that I wanted to love this place before walking in the door. I kept an open mind the entire visit. I greatly value what they are trying to do in helping to bring back the traditional, old school barbershop with a modern twist. Unfortunately in the end the shave and cut fell far below my expectations as a discerning gentleman. Maybe it was an off day for them? Graham's has two chairs and both had customers when I walked through the door. The owner has the first chair and didn't greet me as I walked in the door. That sort of set the tone. His partner however did attempt to engage me even though he too had a client so I especially appreciated that. As a small business owner myself though, I would be greeting everyone with a smile and at least a hello when they walked through the door especially since the owner is the closest person to the door. The owner ended up freeing up first so he gave me my full face shave and cut. I have very sensitive skin and he was very accommodating to my neck to ensure I didn't get a cut or burn. However, he blatantly missed several patches on my upper cheeks, around my lips, chin and back of my neck. I actually had to shave myself immediately after arriving home from this trek. There are so many amazing, natural shave soaps and creams out today that work better than the old stuff. I was quite surprised that a shop like this used the old generic stuff in a warm, automated pump instead of all choosing one of the many newer, better products on the market. The hot towel and prep work was solid and the cold towel after the shave was helpful. Basically though, I can shave myself at home better with less effort and less irritation. If you want a solid fade or WWII era haircut that is all the craze right now, this is probably your place. But for someone with fine hair holding a slight wave, I needed a little more sheer and scissor actions and less generic "#4". I informed the owner that I didn't want my hair to appear clean cut but rather natural. He cut me clean and unnatural but I never once was in eye sight of the mirror so I didn't know until it was too late. Glad I don't have a wedding today. The prices are totally fair for the time spent with each client but I feel the skill level was just not there for my taste. Walk-ins are all they do which can work for you or against you depending upon the day and time. I believe they are cash only so be prepared. read more

I recently decided to get an undercut and I am so happy I decided to get it done here! I was a little skeptical at first because my hair is naturally very kinky/curly and my skins hyper sensitive. Ryan, my barber, did such a great job! I came in with a picture of what I wanted my hair to look like and he exceeded my expectation. I've been going to my barber in Philly for a number of years, so going somewhere different is always a risk. They offered some Genny Cream Ale in a little fridge in the back - great touch and made me nostalgic for my NY state college days. Pains me to do this. I really like the guys at Graham's, the shop is great, music is awesome. However, I have to say that they did not do a great job of giving me what I wanted. I have always struggled to explain how I want my hair cut. I don't know the right terms and kinda feel intimidated telling a professional what I want. However this time came in with a picture of myself with a hair length I wanted to go back to (pic was not even a year old) . Two simple instructions. 1. Don't fade it up too high 2. Leave me something to work with up top. Well, they didn't listen...at all. Hair is WAY too short on top. I really liked where my hair was so it was very disappointing to walk out with something so disappointing. I don't think the guys are Graham's are bad at cutting hair, I just don't feel like they follow request well. I suppose I only have myself to blame as this is now the third time they have cut my hair too short. I have gotten my haircut here a couple of times and it was great. I thought that I finally found an excellent barber shop that cuts my hair the way I like it. Today I am on my way in to get my hair cut for my brothers wedding this weekend, I booked this appointment over a month ago to make sure I got in. I'm running a few minutes behind due to traffic and so I call the shop to let them know I am still coming, I'm just a little late. They then tell me that the barber I had my appointment with no longer works there and they have no record of my appointment. So I opened the app on my phone and sure enough it shows the appointment was cancelled. They cancelled my appointment without any notification at all, no phone calls or email, nothing. So now I have to hurry and find some sub par place to get my haircut because the idiots over at Graham's Barbershop don't know how to treat customers. So my opinion is, if you happen get an appointment with them you better call more than once to confirm your appointment. It's a shame that they can't handle something as simple as notifying their customers that their appointment is cancelled. Actually my suggestion is to just avoid this place all together. Try and find someone who actually cares about their customers. read more

Great experience! I found this place online while in town for business, and very happy that Ty was able to squeeze me in his schedule. Ty was very warm and welcoming, and made it a personalized experience. I've always been told I have a tough head of hair to cut, but he gave me the best cut I've had in a long time and also gave me some tips for styling my hair based on how my hair naturally wants to go. DO NOT GO HERE!!! From start to finish, this was a disaster! First of all, when I walked in, no one offered me a drink (like they supposedly do), or even said hello! It was dead silent when I walked in, as the two barbers didn't say a word. Then, I just sat there until it was my turn, the guy who cut my hair did ask me what I wanted, but once I told him, he didn't want me to have any say in the cut from there on out. At one point when I looked in the mirror he even told me "relax man, I'm not done yet", very rudely. Needless to say, the cut itself wasn't how I preferred since he wouldn't let me look at it or give input. However, the real frustration came next. WITHOUT asking me, he straight razor-dry shaved part of my beard AND part of my eyebrows! Not only does it look terrible and is not the style I like at all, it also severely irritated my skin! I am still dumbfounded and beyond frustrated someone would shave my beard and eyebrows without asking me! To top things off, they talked behind a previous customer's back after she left the shop. Overall, this was bad. Save your time, money, hair, eyebrows, and beard. Don't go here. read more

Stopped in to try them out and in need of a hair cut fast. They only do walk ins so no need to call ahead. It's nice since all the other great barbers are always booked. So bing able to just walk it and sit down is great. The price for a haircut right now is 15$ but July 1st they will up it to 20$. But they take there time and put effort into your hair cut so it's worth it. I find it hard to find places like this. This is a place you can sit down tell them what you want and they get it spot on. I have been to to meany places were they just take a weedwacker to your head and call it a day. If you need a fast great cut this is the place to be. But remember if there is a line it might take a little time for them to get to you. Just make sure your not in a rush. read more

Having previously tried most of the other highly rated barbershops in town, I'm thoroughly convinced that Graham's is the best in Pittsburgh. Ryan (the owner) has been very intentional in cultivating a cool barbershop vibe and has hired great talent to cut around him. Just went for my first cut a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier. Ryan was my barber and he was the first one in a long time to understand what I wanted. I have had to describe what a pompadour is or what high and tight was to so many different barbers that I figured I would never be able to find one that understood. I was easily able to explain what I wanted and Ryan just understood! I got a nice, old school, traditional gentleman's haircut. The full treatment including straight razor and hot foam! Graham's shop is the best I've been to in Pittsburgh. I tried a few different shops around the area and have not been satisfied with any of them until I tried Graham's. I made an appointment with Graham himself so I cannot speak for the other barbers, but Graham did a great job on my haircut and beard trim. I will trust Graham with my beard in the future.
