But I'm more than willing to get up early on a weekday for it. Also, everything you've heard about the mouthwatering coffee cake is true. But be warned! If you are going to complain about waiting for a table or sitting really close to other people or having to sit by the door, then you should just go to a Shari's or Denny's out in the suburbs. I stopped here for breakfast with my dance partner and our host for the weekend during Northwest FollowFest, a swing dance workshop in November 2012. We had to wait outside for about ten minutes because it was so packed, but the wait was definitely worth the food and service waiting for us inside. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. My hot chocolate definitely had the best whipped cream on top that I have ever tasted. It took a little while to get our food, but when it arrived, it was delicious and wasn't ridiculously filling and fatty like most chain places like IHOP or Denny's. I was able to eat everything and feel wonderful afterwards. It was definitely the tiniest diner I've ever been in, but it's walled with mirrors, so it doesn't seem that small. I'm a HUGE fan of the smoked salmon eggs benedict and hashbrowns. My boyfriend always gets either the corn beef hash or the biscuits and gravy, which are both excellent. But I'm not a big fan of the wait during the weekend mornings. I really ought to put in my order and take it to-go (I live so close not to!!!) to avoid the average 60 minute wait to eat, but there is something so nice about sitting in that cute little cramped restaurant around other hungry patrons who love this establishment... I found this place as soon as I moved out here in 2010. The place is extremely small, 90 minutes wait on the weekends, but worth it. The food is really good and the Pegasus coffee from nearby Bainbridge Island is AMAZING! The wait staff is friendly, even if they are super hipster-ish. The portion-to-price ratio could be a bit better. Anyone who is visiting Seattle for the first time must try this place! We came to visit my friend for a few days and the girls at the salon gave us the recommendation. It was only two blocks away from our Airbnb so we decided to go and check it out. Although we did have to wait, they do not disappoint! Great portions and delicious food with lots of flavor. Oh and I highly recommend the coffee cake. I don't know if it's on the menu? But based on the yelp reviews that was a must have when coming to Glo's. They have great customer service, everyone was treated with the same amount of attention and service. It's a really small place but they make it work. I got the Arron special and my bf got the stuffed French toast. The OJ was even delicious. I enjoyed the Arron special so much... we came the next day and I got the same thing. The guy (not sure his name) was quick to greet us again with a happy face and even went out of his way to get us a coffee cake to-go on the house! This place is great. The waitstaff is awesome. They are really friendly, always make sure you have plenty of coffee and there is just a good vibe here, no attitude just very down to earth. I love the variety of rotating art that is always on display. The food is good quality. If you are looking for a home style cooked breakfast with real syrup, butter and eggs look no further. However if you are vegan no worries either. They are happy to make you something that suits you too. The space is small and cozy. So you do have to wait. But its not bad. The blackstone and the salmon benedict are mindblowing. They especially surpassed they greasy-spoon diner expectations I had for the place, because they are not just filling--these eggs are well-crafted, fresh and flavorful. Sometimes, I get a side of fruit instead of the hashbrowns for an extra 1.50, and am so glad to get fresh cut berries, kiwi and oranges instead of a "fruit salad" with gushy grapes and melon. The veggie biscuits and gravy have been out the last few times I've been there, but that's because I only go around 1pm on weekdays, and they close at 3. (It seems like the best time to avoid a wait.) Parents: If you don't like living under a rock just because you have kids, I've brought a stroller and sleeping baby in. The servers have been very helpful, after an initial shock, and of course I go when it's not busy. The space is small so a stroller may not always fit. I had the salmon Benedict and it really hit the spot, I will say it's a little on the expensive side but the quality definitely compensates here, so not really a knock, more like an item of note. Initially the wait was very long which we understood then the waitress (5'5 white female wearing all black ) was very bland, as the hostess she did not walk us to our seats instead of pointing us to them which I found very odd. Although our waiter was the sweetest! (6'2 white male , dark hair with a cap) he explained to us the menu. The food was so yummy! I've been to Glo's twice since moving to Seattle in Fall 2012, and it was pretty good. I say pretty good because I went in with expectations that were probably a little too high. Before going to Glo's, I read Yelp reviews and almost everyone recommended the Eggs Benedict with avocado. Maybe it was just a bad avocado that I had, but it was not good. The avocado tasted like it was way past the point of being fresh. Although the rest of the dish was tasty, the unripe avocado diminished the whole experience. Came here while my parents were visiting Seattle and had a weekday morning free. The restaurant was much smaller than I was expecting but we were able to get a table right away. I had the pancake combo breakfast which came with two pancakes (I chose the pancake special of the day a fabulous oatmeal, granola and honey pancake), fruit, an egg, and ham. Everything was delicious, especially those pancakes. Others had the southwestern omelet which was huge itself and came with a mound of hashbrowns. I'm not a regular reviewer, however I want to share my experience so no one wastes their time with the wait. I will say I did not try the food, which based on previous reviews I've seen it does sound tasty. My experience is based purely on service. Now I don't mind a restaurant that requires proof of vaccine and I was happy to share my card with them after they told me I would be a 40 min wait. They just call your name when the table is ready. Already looking in I could see that did not use their space efficiently, but thought hopefully they flip tables quick ( they don't). The place is friends to homeless, which I believe is important and great that they like to give back and provide free coffee and food for the community. However when my friend is verbally assaulted by one of your "regulars" who is shooting up some type of drug right in front your establishment and is only told to please quiet down in front the guests I start to have a problem. Then to get away from him he we stood in the doorway, but we're rudely asked not "block the ONLY doorway to the business" it seemed his comfort level was much more important than ours. I appreciate what you're doing, but please treat everyone with decency not just your homeless guests. Thanks. Also he was screaming homophobic slurs at my friend who is LGBT+...nice pride flag and we support everyone in the window. You truly showed you cared about all types of people when you didn't even look in his direction as the man repeatedly insulted my friend. Right off the bat, giving it 4 stars because of the wait time. If the wait time werent sooo bad i would give this place a solid 5 stars. Came here for brunch and got a good portioned dish and shared it with my boyfriend. Even sharing the dish we were SOO stuffed cause it was that much food. Happy to say this place is well worth the reviews. If I'd been less wallet conscious (who am I kidding? If' I'd been less conscious of looking like a glutton LOL) I'd have ordered a benny, an omelette, and the pancakes- everything coming out of the kitchen looked AMAZING. Got the special of the day - BLT omelette (bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheddar, green onion), served with shredded potatoes and toast. This was the tastiest thing I've had in eons. Extremely generous portion, with a giant scoop of guac on top for good measure. The potatoes were extra crispy, as requested. Great service, great food. I have struggled to find a brunch place on the Hill that I'm happy with. Glo's is currently the leader, but it's not perfect. Pricing is pretty reasonable, and the food has always been pretty solid. The wait can be vicious if you sleep in, so arrive early (wait - cancel that - arrive late so that you don't make me wait). A quick warning for those not from the area: Don't drive here. Or if you do, arrive early. Don't say I didn't warn you. I have only sampled their sweeter offerings - pancakes, waffles, and french toast. All have been solid. I tend to get the seasonal specials and I don't think I've ever regretted it. Service tends to be OK but not amazing. Staff is pretty hipster but are still nice. My first year in Seattle I was here almost every weekend, but I grew tired of the wait. I also grew tired of the extended wait once seated. But that is the way this place works. The service is efficient when the staff is on, but spotty when they are off. Also, make sure to stay away from the door because you are acting as a bottleneck and you'll mess up the chi of the place. Its diner food, but better. Get the Glo's special or the California omelet and hashbrowns extra crispy. I would get a side of Hollandaise and douse my eggy goodness in it and then mix it with the crispy hashers. Yea...I like heart attacks on a plate. One thing to stay away from: The oatmeal...it is horrendous. I recommend everyone go to Glo's at least once in their Seattle lifetime. Glo's is a tiny, unassuming place - easy to miss if you're driving by, save for the lingering folks waiting outside for a table. Having said that, my friend and I were two of those lingerers the morning after my red-eye flight to Seattle. I can't say whether the wait time was worth it - in total, twenty minutes for the table, then another twenty minutes for the waitress to even take our order - but once we got over that hurdle, oh boy. They've got a wide selection of both sweet and savoury breakfasts, plus a specials board. The two dishes we got (eggs benny and Belgian waffle) were solid choices, and the crispy hash browns had my stomach weeping in joy. Good coffee was attentively refilled by our server, and our bill didn't leave our wallets gasping for mercy.
