Brown bear spotted at 7 am very close to Glorietta Park

On July 25, 2021 at 7 am a brown bear was spotted walking in the neighborhood a few blocks from this park. Be careful and be respectful, everyone! It's their home too.

Glorietta Park is a perfect park to walk your dog, take your kids to play on the playground equipment, play tennis, play soccer or watch a baseball game. The park is nestled in between the Verdugo Mountains and the San Rafael Hills. You also have a lovely view of Mt. Lukens and the San Gabriels to the north. It is just south of Sparr Heights. There is a great little deli across the street called Old Fashioned Deli if you want to pick up some things for a picnic. There is a court fee for tennis, but at least they always have an attendant and you don't have to worry about driving somewhere and all the tennis courts are busy. You most likely need a reservation with the City of Glendale Parks and Recreation to use the baseball field, so check that out ahead of time. There is a little parking lot off of Glorietta Avenue and plenty of street parking.

Tennis courts $4/hr and worth every penny (6/hr after 4pm or something). I suck at tennis so my opinion might actually be awful but it did what I needed so 5 stars from ya boy

    The lone softball/baseball diamond.

WHERE'S THE BATHROOMS...I gotta pee!?!?!?!!!! Ohh yeah..the bathrooms are wayyy over the hill, past Verdugo, over the bridge, past the tennis courts, around the playground, in that one corner! What kind of crap is that? You have to trek so far to use the restroom esp from the softball diamond/field. Crap! Bumpysoftball fields, sad outfield grass with holes, uneven grass, dirt, etc. Uncomparable to the Glendale Sports Complex. Also limited parking. The park does look nice though...nicely groomed trees and bushes.

Nice and clean park. Yelped it while on and about and needed a park for a picnic lunch spot. Lots of picnic tables under the trees. We enjoyed our picnic with a light breeze. Then kids spent a little time on the playground. It was surprisingly empty on a Sunday afternoon. Street parking. Didn't use the bathrooms.

I used to live across from this park a couple years ago, and still come here as it's become my family's go to park for get togethers. Went today for my aunts party and the kids still love the playground. There are two playgrounds, one for smaller kids and the other for older youth, as well as a sandlot. Park is open, and there is a gate that opens in the back to a residential area so definitely keep an eye on your little ones. Limited seating 4-5 picnic tables.

5.50 an hour to play tennis, no wonder there are so many obese children in the U.S. They cant afford to be thin.

Great park for kids. Very clean. Lots of playing options. Big shady trees make it a great experience.

When we visited there wasn't a lot of people, but they have a tennis court, a basketball court and a small little playground for kids. They had a few tables around the park. There's not a lot of traffic around the park so it seems safe for your kids if you plan to bring them to play. If you're from around the area and need to take a breather and time to walk, this is a good place to walk around. I saw a few joggers, but it was mostly quiet and hardly anyone around. Since COVID19 a lot of restaurants are not allowing you to dine-in, so this is a good little place to picnic with your friends or family. We ended up staying in the car and parked right by the park. We were in a rush since we came around the holidays, so we could not stay to enjoy it. If I'm ever in the area and need a place to go for a picnic and Eagle Rock isn't allowing dine-in, then I would definitely come back. It's not crowded, it's clean, it looks safe and there's a few benches to hangout. I did not get a chance to check the restrooms, but it did not look bad from the outside view. The grass and trees around the park look well taken care of by the city.
