We…read morestopped by Eagle Rock and there was no dine-in, so we drove around to look for somewhere to eat and we came across this park. It looks like it's in a nice quiet neighborhood. When we visited there wasn't a lot of people, but they have a tennis court, a basketball court and a small little playground for kids. They had a few tables around the park. There's not a lot of traffic around the park so it seems safe for your kids if you plan to bring them to play. If you're from around the area and need to take a breather and time to walk, this is a good place to walk around. I saw a few joggers, but it was mostly quiet and hardly anyone around. Since COVID19 a lot of restaurants are not allowing you to dine-in, so this is a good little place to picnic with your friends or family. We ended up staying in the car and parked right by the park. We were in a rush since we came around the holidays, so we could not stay to enjoy it. If I'm ever in the area and need a place to go for a picnic and Eagle Rock isn't allowing dine-in, then I would definitely come back. It's not crowded, it's clean, it looks safe and there's a few benches to hangout. I did not get a chance to check the restrooms, but it did not look bad from the outside view. The grass and trees around the park look well taken care of by the city.

About 10 miles of hiking available. I love the scenic views of the city/LA. It can get really hot because there is very little shade. Plenty of picnic tables to rent. The ones closest to house is not rentable. Half of the tables are not in the shade. Small amphitheater is there too. Very safe if you visit alone. There are bears, snakes, coyote and small critters. Wilderness park named in honor of George Deukmejian, the 35th Governor of California. Has so much history. Former vineyard and winery. 1885-1890s: French immigrant and winemaker George Le Mesnager purchased acreage in Dunsmore canyon to plant extensive vineyards. The vineyard has 81 grapevines which have been planted since 2004 and are maintained by the Stone Barn Vineyard conservancy which is a part of the historical society of the Crescenta Valley. You can still purchase Stone Barn wine bottles of Chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, and white zin for $10-$20. City of Glendale purchased land to preserve it from developers. 2009 a severe wildfire swept through the terrain, though resilient landmarks like a historic 200-year-old oak tree survived. 2022 historic stone barn reopened to the public as the Stone Barn Nature Center. Without further ado let's begin the adventure…read more Deukmejian Wilderness Park is a public park which occupies a rugged 709-acre site in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mts at the northernmost extremity of the City of Glendale. There are 10 trails throughout the park which varies in length, elevation and level of difficulty. They are as follows: Le Mesnager loop, Rim of the Valley, Dunsmore Canyon, Vineyard, Mummy Rock, Crescenta View, Cooks Canyon, Haines Canyon, Mt Lukens and Pickens Spur. Moreover, trails on the site provide spectacular views of the Crescenta Valley and the Los Angeles basin. I arrived early morning and decided to do the easy Dunsmore Canyon (elev gain 600 ft) is a mile long with extremely rocky trail; this canyon intersects with Crescenta View, Le Mesnager Loop, Mummy Rock and Vinyard trails. The view was amazing! Dogs are allowed as long as they're on a leash. Public bathroom is available. Parking lot is free albeit limited. Overall, it's a great park to go on a hiking adventure. I highly recommend you visit.

Plenty of parking onsite and on the street. The only thing that bothered me were older kids driving their E-bikes really fast around the play structures. Could easily strike a toddler or even caregiver. Everyone at the park was friendly and it's good place to take the little ones.

I really love this garden but today I brought my service dog with me. She was wearing her service…read moredog vest and the guy at the entrance said "no dogs are allowed" despite her wearing a vest that clearly said "service dog". I then told him that she's a service animal and he asked what task she performs as is customary. But once I said her task, he laughed at me and said he had never heard of a dog who "does that". I told him I have a disability that requires her and he eventually let me in. But he had an overall negative rude condescending demeanor and didn't seem to like working there. This was highly triggering for me and actually triggered my CPTSD because it never feels great to have your disability or needs not taken seriously. Not everyone's disability is visible and for it to be laughed at felt very insensitive. It makes me not wanna go there that much in the future now because I know it's always gonna be triggering for me if that worker is there. I couldn't relax the whole time I was there cause I felt so distressed by this.

From the moment you step in, you're surrounded by incredible beauty and tranquility. The gardens are impeccably maintained with so much variety.. stunning rose gardens, one of the largest camellia collections in the world, and the highlight for us was the Japanese Garden. It felt like stepping into another world. We also enjoyed wandering through the oak woodland and catching the beautiful seasonal blooms. Everything was in full glory! We brought the kids and they had a blast riding the little train (super fun and a great way to see more of the grounds). The staff was friendly, the paths are easy to walk, and there are plenty of benches to sit and soak it all in. It's the perfect spot for a relaxing day date, family outing, or even a peaceful solo walk. Admission is reasonable and totally worth it. We'll definitely be back for the special events and different seasons. Highly recommend!
