This diamond in the rough is located on the second floor of Southridge mall I think next to Gamestop. I do not go here as much as I used to but whenever I do visit they never fail to impress me. My mom used to take me here as a kid and for the most part they have always maintained the ability to make stellar drinks! Most recently my gf got their pumpkin spice latte which (sorry Starbux) is oz for oz a better latte! It tasted so good I almost got one for myself! I usually get mocha frappes or some type of cookie chiller when I go and it just blows my socks off with that first sip! I like the simple cafe set up at Gloria Jeans and some of the artistic designs they have on the chalk board above the bar. Usually there is a line of people but nothing too ridiculous to turn you away from stopping in for a good drink. I only wish there were more Gloria Jean stores outside the mall...if there are someone please let me know!

I absolutely love this place! I get the same thing every time because it's so delicious. I have tried a couple sips of some of their other things if I go there with my husband or a friend. Those things are pretty good too. They have a lot of cool and funny mugs for sale too. I haven't bought any because I have too many coffee mugs as it is but I good enjoyment out of looking at them. I stop here every time I am at the mall and I always get the white chocolate caramel cookie chiller.

    De sign.

Coffee is now ubiquitous with daily life in America, which brings me to Qamaria Coffee. Hatem and Munif are two Yemeni entrepreneurs with a passion for Yemeni Coffee and the joint goal of wanting to share it with the world. They founded Qamaria Coffee in 2019 to accomplish this task and in January 2024, they opened a location near Milwaukee in Greenfield, WI. Qamaria offers a variety of dessert options, including a Chocolate Tres Leches, Pistachio Tres Leches, and Caramel Tres Leches cakes. I went with the caramel version, which is described by the cafe as "A decadent caramel treat inspired by tres leches cake, creamy, sweet, and irresistibly smooth". If you've never had Tres Leches Cake, it's a light sponge cake soaked in three types of milk (evaporated, condensed, and whole) that's popular in Latin America. The cake originated in Nicaragua during the 19th century, so on first glance it's not exactly a Yemeni dessert. Doing some research, Middle Eastern variations exist that feature cardamom or rose water and some Qamaria locations do have a Rose Tres Leches. It's fine that the Greenfield location did not have that variety as I honestly would have got the caramel version anyway. My slice was perfectly moist as there was plenty of milk soaked in, but not so much that it made a mess or compromised the structure of the cake. The bottom layer was soft and Tiramisu-like in texture, while the cream on top was rich and thick. Personally, I found the caramel flavor to be mild, but delicious. As it is served chilled, it paired nicely with a hot cup of coffee (which they have a plethora of options to choose from). Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews

What I don't like so much is the fact that there is no foyer at the entrance. When the front door opens, and if you are seated nearby, you get a blast of cold air. Not sure what they can do about that, given the fact that they are part of a strip mall.

Mismatched chairs and tables from the 70s, maybe older based on the prints. I feel like I'm the only one in here today that remembers seeing and using a LOT of this stuff when was younger! It's definitely unique and fun. There's a lot of little seating areas as well, like tiny conversation pits near the entrance. One in front of a fireplace looked particularly cozy. I noticed a couple shelves with items for sale, likely from local small businesses. It can get really loud in here, which is to be expected with the high ceiling and large open area. Unfortunately that also means it can be difficult to have a conversation with people at your table. I chose to visit for lunch since I was in the mood for something light and new to me. What I did not expect was to leave still hungry. I ordered the equivalent of a caprese sandwich, however the tomato slices were so thin, the cheese sparse, and the pesto was almost nonexistent - if not for the green stain on the bread, I'd have thought they forgot to even add it. Definitely not a sandwich worthy of the $13 price tag. No complaints on the drinks. I wouldn't mind stopping in again sometime for coffee, but if you're hungry for more than a bakery case item, you may wish to go elsewhere.
