I've never really eaten a bad meal here. So I start by saying that. Homemade chips good. Soups good. Burger just ok. Not impressed with the flatbread. The biggest issue I have are the prices. Not too huge a portion that your paying for. It's like they are tucked away like a neighborhood place but they want you to pay $12 a plate. More worth $8 a plate for the portions. Bar part is ok. First, let me talk to you about the decor. It is confusing. The bar area looks like a classic 'hole in the wall' kind of place. The dining area looks like a failed attempt at rustic chic. The place was pretty confusing. There was standard salt and pepper shakers on the tables, no grinders. Our waitress was slow. I'm not sure why, as she had no more than 3 tables including us. She would disapear for long periods of time. This became a problem. One of the POSs had solitare on it. The first thing that I noticed (after the decor) was that the item I wanted was not on the menu. I had looked on their online menu right before driving there. WTH?! We ordered the Grillehouse Chips for an appetizer. The chips were OK, but they had season salt on them. Why would you use season salt? The melted cheese didn't look like fresh mozzarella and it was all piled in a couple areas. The sour cream wasn't enough and was plopped on some of the chips. It took forever to get our food and the waitress stated it was because of a large party. Honestly, I didn't see a large party, but whatever. It gave us time to BS and eat the chips. My friend ordered the Hot Italian Sausage Flatbread and her only complaint was that it was too hot. She thought it was a good pizza. I ordered the Grille Greak and was extremely disappointed. The Greek vinaigrette was spices and white vinegar. No oil and the flavor was flat. The chicken was under seasoned and even salt didn't help bring out flavor. I wanted over 15 minutes for the waitress to do her first check back in order to return it. I just wanted to return it, but she talked me into the ceasar salad. It was a little better, but still too vinegary and lacked flavor. As we left, we saw a server area filled with salt and pepper grinders. WTH?! The only reason we're giving 4 stars is because our server Matt was outstanding. If we were basing this solely off food it would be 2-3 stars. He gave us the best service even though everything else with our experience was a miss. Unfortunately the majority of the menu items we requested we were told they were out of. When we decided to order we got a black bean wrap and a seared tuna wrap. The black bean wrap was okay at best and the tuna wrap was a huge disappointment. It was mostly cabbage and had at the saddest amount of tuna I've ever seen in a dish. Super sad because we were so excited to try it. We might come back but unsure. read more

I have enjoyed going to The Grille on several occasions but the last two times were not that great. Yesterday, was there at 3:00 pm with party of 5. It was busy, not crazy, but our server was a bit harried, running from outside, inside up and down. We waited over 20 minutes for our drinks from the bar, which happened on my previous visit too. No lemon or blueberries in my martini which isn't a big deal. We were on a schedule so we didn't order anything else from the bar. The calamari was over-fried and not good at all. Lobster risotto was ok but not as good as I've had before. Lobster bisque was great but not many pieces of lobster. I understand they may be short handed as they had Help Wanted signs posted but the bar issue has been long standing. Nice atmosphere and good service. Fairly Americana menu. I had a spinach salad that was pretty good with a fairly decent savory dressing. Clean and family friendly of a decent size with a well appointed bar and sports viewing options. I would say this place is just fine, a safe bet, and should be a cherished spot for locals. I've seen a lot worse (Fairfield, OH) for the only decent dining option in a small town. I will be back and try more items to up this rating. There are two entrances - one for the bar area and one for the dining area. We made the mistake of entering through the bar entrance but some waitresses were quick to point us in the right direction. Food was just okay - it took a little longer than expected to come out, especially since we were one of maybe three families in the restaurant. I had the Spinach Artichoke flatbread which, while satisfying, was a bit greasy and left a dry aftertaste. I sampled some of my father's salmon and it was acceptable but not anything outstanding. In all I thought for the quality of the food the prices were rather reasonable, especially for the flatbreads. (Not convinced about the entrees.) I don't write restaurant reviews, first time ever. Unfortunately this review is not to expound upon what a great experience we had. I've been wanting to take the family there for quite some time as I anticipated a unique and tasty dining experience. We went on a Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. When we entered the restaurant there was currently only two or three tables occupied. I asked if we could have have a booth to sit in. All of the booths were empty. We were told that we could not have a booth because there were many large parties coming in soon. While we were in the restaurant a couple of the parties who were there originally left and only a couple more parties came in. When we left, the restaurant was virtually empty. We are still trying to figure out why we were denied a booth? Service beyond being seated: the service was fair at best and my daughter asked why our server acted so angry. They certainly did not seem happy to be waiting on us. Food/Prices: The prices are in line for a well prepared meal. For the quality of the food we received the prices are out of line. I ordered a flat bread pizza. It was possibly the worst pizza I have ever gotten. The crust was tasteless and the entire pie was simply poor quality. I ate one piece. My wife got a gyro that she said was just O.K. The kids got burgers and they said they like the burgers we get at the local bar and grill better. My wife believes her drink was watered down on top of everything else. The ambiance, service and food are bar quality at best and do not justify the prices or lack of good service. Their web site ensures that you enjoy a memorable food experience every time. Our experience was indeed memorable albeit in a negative way. We will not return to this restaurant. I had not been to the Glenwillow Grille for about 2 years. My how things have changed. Five co-workers and myself, upon my recommendation, went to dinner there this evening. The waiter was over enthusiastic and tried to go out of his way to please us. This would have been a nice touch had the food lived up to the his hype. Unfortunately, the meals for half of us fell short. When we ordered, some of us had salads, some had soup. There was no bread or crackers offered. When I questioned the waiter about this, his initial response was that no cracker really goes with bisque. I said it would have been nice had they at least offered either crackers or bread. His second response was that bread was usually only offered on weekends. Duh! This was a Wednesday. Sorry we didn't wait until the weekend. Not the best response to a diner. Two of us had the Walleye. Not well seasoned. Totally flavorless. And the batter was so thick it could have made a meal by itself. It was very disappointing. One of the diners had the filet. He said it was way over seasoned. His suggestion was to cut the seasoning in half. I said they should have use some of the seasoning on the Walleye. The other three diners were pleased with their meals, though they acknowledged it was just average. Overall, it was a disappointing evening. I felt as though the restaurant had let me down. After all, I recommended the place based upon my experience two years ago. I would certainly not recommend this restaurant based upon this experience. I work in Glenwillow so this is our only choice for lunch or after dinner drinks unless we want to drive into Solon, Aurora or Twinsburg. Everything I have tried here has been very good. Their coleslaw is excellent!! My only complaint that would keep this place from 5 starts is the staff. They all seem grumpy and not at all happy to be at work. I'm not saying my server or bartender needs to be my best friend but a smile here or there wouldn't be bad. I would even take no facial expression if they would just not growl at me! read more

Best French dip I've had! My girlfriend suggested we try this place while we were out running around. First of all I didn't even know in my 32 years living here that Glenwillow was a city, town or whatever it is. We were there early afternoon on a weekend and it was very slow. I'm guessing they pack them in for lunch and dinner during the week though because there is alot of industry packed in that little place. The prices were fair and the food was excellent. We both had the french dip sandwhich and it was the best if not top 3 I've had. The place is very clean and has a higher end look and feel to it but the prices were not high end. I stopped here for a quick dinner with a friend. Had the chicken grilled cranberry fields salad - it was wonderful. Tuesday nights are 25% off bottles of wine which was a nice surprise. Had to wait a few for the hostess to come back and greet us but there were only 2 waitresses working and they were working on a few tables when we walked in. No big. Have lived in Glenwillow for a number of years and finally came out to try the Grille. Needless to say, based on my rating, I was not impressed. We arrived in a very off time for a late lunch (around 2:30 pm) and waited at the entrance right next to the podium without any attention paid to us. The one server who walked by did not even glance over in our direction. Finally, when the hostess appeared, we were flippantly told we could just sit wherever in an attitude that was not worth the wait. Bad first impression already. Our server ended up being the one who hadn't even looked at us after we arrived and had waited for quite some time. He introduced himself as Paul, though his nametag stated otherwise. He told us that "the regulars call him Johnny Cash," which I found both strange and annoying egotistical at the same time. We ordered a bowl of the Lobster Bisque to start off with, which, while it wasn't bad, I found hard to believe was something our server had called on the most popular and signature dishes. It was good, but nothing spectacular about it, and also a bit too sweet with a strange aftertaste. We order two of the "flatbreads" (pizzas). The Hot Italian Sausage flat bread was tasty. The sausage seemed pretty mild at first but had a spicier kick afterwards. My flatbread, the chicken alfredo flatbread, had read on the menu as having alfredo sauce, broccoli, chicken, and cheese. When I got my flatbread, I was a bit confused. There was no broccoli and I didn't really taste any alfredo sauce. There were, however, onions, carrots, and what seemed like cabbage. I ate a piece, and while it wasn't horrible, it wasn't that great either, and it certainly wasn't a chicken alfredo flatbread. After waiting and waiting for our server to return (which was ridiculous seeing as how the place was nearly empty and his other table was almost right next to ours. We later noticed that he had been sitting in a booth closer to the bar chit-chatting with some coworkers and paying no attention to customers, only to the jabbering of the hostess who was far too delayed in attending to the podium and the TV screen up above), I asked to see a menu again just to make sure that I hadn't read the description of the chicken alfredo pizza incorrectly and to check if there was a similar menu item with different veggies that also was topped with chicken. Nope. When our server returned again after a long wait (we watched him sitting and talking without glancing in our direction), I asked him if the chicken alfredo flatbread was supposed to have carrots and onions in it, to which he responded quickly and emphatically with a "yes." Now, tell me why the Glenwillow Grille would put on its menu a fairly new item (and I know that this menu item must be decently new since I had checked and downloaded the menu on my phone about a month or two ago when I had previously planned on visiting the Grille. When I checked the file that I still had, the chicken alfredo flatbread was not listed, so it must be fairly new) with such an incorrect description? I would not have wasted my money ordering this flatbread had I known there would be cabbage, onions, and carrots on it, as I despise carrots and do not like cabbage or lettuce on pizza at all. If the description was truly correct and the item was simply made incorrectly, then why was our server so misinformed about the contents of this menu item? He had the attitude and apparent skill and expertise of a brand new server, yet he had mentioned a relationship with regulars at the restaurant. Baffling. After this experience at the Glenwillow Grille, it is safe for me to say that I will not be returning again. I certainly never plan to bring, and waste, my money at a restaurant where the menu descriptions are so incorrect and the servers are so inattentive, aloof, and unhelpful. read more

Have eaten here for lunch and dinner on several occasions, and it is usually pretty good although uneven at times (this applies to food, service, and drinks). The chips and dip are addictive, I have to be careful to limit myself on these. The pulled pork is good, too. I frequently get the cranberry fields salad, but think it is a bit overpriced. I've had excellent flatbreads, and not-so-hot ones as well. Drinks have been hit-or-miss as well, I've had well-made old-fashioneds and a few that tasted of straight bourbon on ice. The outdoor seating in nice when the weather cooperates. The bar area can get very cold in the winter, especially near the door. And I know this is not their fault, but what keeps me away more often these days is that I am tired of being eyeballed and bathed in radar by the local police. I can not recall a visit there recently where they weren't present (frequently cruising through the parking lot). Sorry, it's hard to relax in that situation. read more

"Really fun place" I have been here several times and always enjoy it. They have some really nice mid priced wines, always great beer on tap and the service is consistent. Our table ordered two appetizers, calamari and the meatballs. Both were excellent. My friend ordered a burger and I got a flat bread pizza, no cocktails, no appetizers, no dessert. From ordering to paying it took TWO HOURS. That is not okay for lunch.
