Avoid Avoid Avoid. Following the purchase of a used car, I needed an inspection. Per Glenn's website, appointments were required. I specifically choose the location over another since they required appointments. This wasn't a full inspection, just one for insurance. As I learned from another location (we'll get to that) a five minute process. Upon arrival, the location looked a bit sketchy. An abundance cars in varying states of disrepair. The office was small, had broken windows, messy, and had car batteries on the floor. I start checking in for my scheduled appointment and the woman behind the counter let me know the person who does the inspections had stepped away, but we could do the paperwork in the meantime. Sounds good to me. Before she even handed me the clipboard, someone with "Joe" on their name patch came in talking to someone else, glanced at the clipboard and paper in her hand and said (without acknowledging me) "I definitely can't get to that any time soon." I mentioned I had an appointment and needed to get my son from daycare afterwards. He suggested I get my son, come back, and wait. I asked where we could wait since the office was clearly unsafe. He said we could wait in the car to which I replied that would be difficult with a two year old. He then said we would need to reschedule and walked out. Throughout this conversation he maintained a very threatening tone to the point I felt uncomfortable. I simply left and called another shop. Stopping in without an appointment; The other shop was nice, clean and staffed by professionals. I was in, out, and on my way in under ten minutes. This was what I expected from Glenn's. Not the hostile, chop-shop atmosphere. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. read more

Five stars is not enough. Have been taking my car to Glen's since I moved to Plainfield in 2015. I drive a Mini. First time I took car to Glen's was after a minor malfunction on car cost and arm and a leg, was a repair I waited for while there. Mini Dealership then listed a number of other repairs I should have done. I declined and went to Glen's. Glen and Josh run the repair shop and Josh took a look at what Mini was suggesting (and shook his head when he saw what I was already charged). He did find that I could use new break pads on two, not four of the wheels. Years later, still not needed to change break pads. And nothing else Mini listed as requiring repairs was accurate and none of needed repairs since. A bunch of stories like this one. Most importantly, I always know I am bringing my car to people who are 100% honest and charge very fairly for labor. I'm into my fifth decade as a drive and without question Glen's is by far the best auto repair shop I've come across and can't imagine there's another out there that is as expert, honest and fairly priced. Had a Check Engine Light, went to Glens during lunch time, one of the mechanic, Joshua said will get to it, could see they are busy, 10 minutes passed by was wondering If I should stay, get back later and right then he brought the instrument to check, cleared the codes and took time to explain what it is about. I said my gas cap was open but even after tightening CEL is not going away. He told to give it time, as it takes a cycle to set off automatically. All for Free. read more

I've patronized this business on a few occasions and must say I was very satisfied the first few visits, but on my last visit Josh told me what was wrong with my car and had given me a price. When I went back, he tells me how he fixed other things like my AC which I intended on getting fixed just not that day. My money was counted for and just going for the service at hand. I lived five minutes away from Glenn's all my life. It's a small repair shop and it looks run-down but I thought I would give it a chance since its short distance was so convenient for me. Sadly, their staff-performance and automotive service is just as terrible as the appearance of the place. At first the price seemed very reasonable. I was charged for an oil change, spark plug repairs, and some engine work. However, on the day I picked it up I found that my GPS was removed from the glove compartment. I thought that maybe they kept those kinds of things inside the shop to prevent thefts but when I approached the staff they got automatically defensive claiming "We don't touch those things, we never touched it." The more I encouraged them to at least check the shop, the more irritable the employees got and the more unhelpful they became. Extremely unprofessional. As a frequent commuter, not only is my GPS always in my car, but I know to put it away where it can't be seen. Unfortunately, I never found it and had to report it stolen. Either they left my car unlocked and unattended while it was there, or someone working at the shop stole it themselves. Regardless, the place is clearly poorly managed. Although I was upset that I had my GPS stolen I was at least hopeful that the car was fixed as promised. But in only a couple months, the car broke down on me THREE TIMES. After I had to get it towed I took my business elsewhere and was told that I need and oil change, spark plug repairs, AND engine work. All of which I had already paid Glenn's to fix. I got a second and third opinion from other places without giving them any background information because it was a little hard to believe that my car was in the exact condition that it was before I ever brought it to Glenn's. All other shops confirmed that my car was in pretty critical condition. All other shops detected that the car had all of its initial problems. I'm not sure what kind of patch-up work they threw together to keep the car running well for a little while. Of course, with a place that has service as terrible as Glenn's they need to keep clients coming...and what better way then to insure your car will always need fixing. My advice is to save yourself the headache and take your business elsewhere. In the end, I was left paying hundreds for a car that was never fixed as promised, and to have my GPS stolen. read more
