(Reviewing from Flower St. the other end of the River Path) I enjoy this Riverwalk when I want to be intentional about walking a designated paved lane, go dog walking (when it's not scorching hot), or even skate. It's quite underrated and I believe there's a lot of potential for this space to be fabulous if more attention is put into place for landscaping, amenities like restrooms and benches, community turf space. It's a shame but this is a reliable walkway where you don't have to stress about traffic lights, pedestrians, and distractions. It's been clean over at this side of the River Path! I've yet to walk the entire thing and go under/ near the bridge. There seems to be a green area for your dog or humans which I'd like to possibly frequent for exercise! read more

I love the glendale narrows river walk as it is right down the st from where I live. There is tons of wildlife and it makes you forget that you live in Los Angeles with its gorgeous scenery. I love taking a walk or a run with my girlfriend in the mornings all the way to the end of the trail and back. There is room for bicyclists as well to ride down along the L.A. River which its a true example of peace and tranquility to help your body wake up and revive. read more

** Dog friendly ** ** on leash ** Currently open 7a- dusk. Great walk along the LA River. Small parking lot within gate 4 or 5 spots and one handicapped spot. But plenty of parking outside gate on street opposite houses. No restrooms. No shade (except under bridge) so bring sunscreen, hat, plenty of water. There is a water fountain, bike rack and bike repair station near parking lot. Nice walk alongside LA River. Dirt path area to left, after you go under bridge and other side of fence from ABC7, with tables, benches and a few trash cans. One bench is in shade under a tree. We only walked about 1.5 miles out and back, next time would like to see how far it goes. Info signage along the way about Glendale history, monarchs, the river, etc. Great photo ops along the way. Lots of birds, butterflies, etc. *** Check your canine kid's paws often or put boots on them. I found 4 of those star shaped multi prong devils (see photo I added, I do not know what they are called or from) on my girl's paws. They are super painful. Nice path to walk, run, bike, skate. There is a nice little seating area with bike rack near the entrance off of Flower Street across the street from Glendale Power plant. Looked like no parking signs along there though. This path is across the river from Zoo Drive that goes past soccer fields and the Dog park. Check it out and enjoy! read more

A nice but short, paved lane. It's perfect for little kids. There is very little shade though. Small parking lot for 3 cars and a few more handicap spots. There is a cool bike pump and bike fixing station. read more

Top ten Glendale Narrows sightings and/or finds: 1. Discarded rubber mask. This was weird because it wasn't like a president mask or anyone we could recognize, just a rotted, sun-bleached, regular joe blow's face. 2. Partial pallet of Muscle Milk display boxes. This was part of a larger rat-king-esque mess of debris including a gutted stove and some kind of egg carton-like dried mulch. The milks had suffered great damage in their journey, due to the smell, I'm pretty sure most of the milk had long since seeped into the mulch bank it's container was now part of. 3. Pterodactyl. Or pterodactyl-like thing that was definitely not a bird. A wet, reflective, dark thing that flew by near the North Atwater park stretch of the river so maybe it actually doesn't count here. 4. Solo cosplayers. I've encountered single persons in costume twice here. One very late at night, just standing under the bridge construction. 5. A pile of yellowed, blasted out condoms. So many explanations for this one, not too much else needed to say here, this wrecked suggested some mighty virility. 6. Not mine but a good friend told me they saw a chimpanzee in a tree here when they were in high school. I believe it because she's my friend, I trust her, and there are many, many stories of monkeys, apes, etc in this region of L.A. A few months ago on a night hike in Griffith Park, I overheard someone (who referred to themselves as an "empath") say they heard monkey cries/sounds there sometimes. 7. Perhaps my favorite: a man with a very unusual, almost featureless face (from what we could tell) peering out of the brush at us. We were staring into the brush from the bank for five minutes before finally seeing this beige/pink face in shadow. And no shit, maybe thirty minutes later, down past Glendale blvd, we saw the same guy (or same face) in navy blue work clothes, lift up and climb halfway out of one of those pipes that are shaped like cat heads, look left and right and retreated back in! Amazing! 8. A cat's tail. This was just depressing. Mostly because I knew what it was immediately with 100% certainty. The implications were just too much. Def not a "favorite" but remarkable. 9. The "submarine man" as my friend dubbed him. We often spy for turtle or other unusual river creatures when walking the banks around the narrows. One time, we're looking into a little cove type area, kinda cool, and all of a sudden this dude sits up from under the water, spitting and shaking water off. It was insane because it had been so still and quiet, something we had remarked on, being very late at night, the river can make you a little edgy after dark. This guy sits up in his soaked clothing, picks himself up and stalks into a little island of brush and that was that! Not another sound. 10. Two things that looked like a cross between a shrimp and a crab, both pretty big, at about 6" long, sparring over a packet of dell taco hot sauce. read more

I was looking for somewhere new to walk my dog. I drove over to the Riverwalk which is five minutes from my house. I was able to find parking in the lot and there's a lovely small grassy area right when you pull up. The walk itself was surprisingly beautiful. My puppy and I have been back several times since discovering this peaceful 1 mile walk. It's so great to have somewhere to go close by with my dog to add some variety to our daily walks. While Glendale Parks and Rec does have some stations for bags to curb your pet, they were not stocked the day we were there. However, it appears most people who walk their pet do clean up after themselves. This is a paved, easy walk, perfect for leisurely stroll with your furry companion. read more

The official Glendale River Walk park is a short, 1/4 mile (or so) paved walkway on the north/east side of the the Los Angeles river. If you follow Yelp's map it will lead you to a very small parking lot, the trailhead so to speak, of this little walk way and bike path. Although the Glendale river walk is short, just south of it is a much longer, less manicured version of the trail along the LA river. This part has no name or yelp designation, but it's much more satisfying that the short Glendale narrows park. To get to the rest of the river walk, park your car to the south at the north Atwater park. All my photos were taken in this area. I'm pretty certain that there are plans to unify the various parts of the trail to create one long walkway. In the meantime this is a nice short walk with a view of both the more natural part of the LA river and the old cemented portion. Bird watching is pretty spectacular. read more

Totally hidden entrance, right before Bette Davis park, all the way at the end. It's kind of an interesting/weird place. As a single woman, I would never go there by myself because it's just too deserted. However, if I had a friend or two, I'd perhaps go for a little stroll if I were in the area (especially with my dog). It's kind of cool/relaxing to look at the "river" and the interesting birds around there. There is virtually no shade, though, so note that. I've only gone a couple of minutes into it because I was a little freaked out (there was literally no one there except a lady leading a mini pony and a bloated goat), but I'll go there again with friends, likely sometime in the future. I weird, but interesting hidden part of Glendale. FYI, it's basically like a walking path, comfortable to fit about 2 or 3 people walking at the same time. I'm not sure how far the concrete path goes, but at least part of it is concrete. read more

What a strange place. I'm not even sure why it exists. I came looking for a nice place to sit down and have lunch while in the area and drove past the park that is just across from the freeway and I still don't know if it has its own name or we just have decided it is a remote, tiny branch of a bisected Griffith. In any case, I noticed that park, full of trees and squirrels and shade and grass lacked benches and then I saw I a gate at the end of the increasingly curiously named Garden St. The park nets you a plot of grass about as big as a front yard for the neighborhood, some parking spaces, some more concrete, a single bench that faces a pen for horses (but remember, no grazing) and some signs. There is a rather creative water fountain, this might be the highlight. It's rather noticeably lacking and shade or trees. There are, a couple little seedlings, but they have a while. The whole thing is a little strange and more than a little stark compared to the several other parks around, especially the one that is next door. The riverwalk itself is a two lane asphalt bike path next to the concrete embankment of the LA river and the most shade you get is from the 134. It feels like it could be a nice feature, but as is I'm curious why they even spent money on the 'park' part of it--they could have just left it as a bike path. read more

Weird, desolate path along the river, on the Glendale side (not the Frogtown side). There's a small open green space - follow that to the walking/bike path which runs for maybe 1/2 a mile, then turn around. Not sure if this joins up with the rest of the river at any point down the line, but once you reach the end of this path you're spit out back onto a Glendale street. I may not be "selling" this. It's a paved path, and it's pretty nice to be so close to the water. Lots of birds and wildlife to check out. Just beware, there's no shade (other than the part where you walk under the freeway) and it's rather empty. We saw one other person - a guy on a bike going the opposite way. I'm glad it's here, but it's not really worth making a special trip for. If you are not a Glendale resident on a bike ride or walk, go find the Frogtown side (around Marsh Park) for comparable scenery, partial shade, and a much longer path that doesn't have to end after 20 minutes. read more

This has the potential to be a great place to ride your bike, but it's under construction. It is cut off so the bike path is really short. It has a nice and quiet neighborhood feel and it's a great way to experience nature in an urban setting. I'm sure I will give it 5 stars when the bike path is finished. read more

A hidden Gem! being 9 months preggers and with the doctors and doula telling me to walk an hour a day there could be no better place for me than the Glendale Narrows. Every time I go I'm astounded by the crazy amount of wildlife that can be spotted so close to the city. Big birds, small birds, coyotes, turtles, horses, goats, cats and of course dogs just to name a few. Only downside is the fact that you can't find a lick of shade in the entire place, so going midday is out of the question read more

This is a gorgeous brand spanking new riverwalk. The Glendale Narrows Riverwalk is located on the opposite side of the end of the LA River bike path from Los Feliz. To get here from the LA River bike path, you will need to exit the path, cross the bridge and then trek across the park to the entrance of the Glendale Narrows Riverwalk. It is located in a residential area so don't worry, you will see the metal gate within a short walking distant. It is perfect for walking and the view of the LA River is nice. Too bad, the path is extremely short. Again, a nice stretch for walking but definitely not for biking the river. If you want to bike the LA River, go to the other side of the river and the path will take you all the way down to Los Feliz, passing Elysian Valley and beyond. I can definitely see the vision of this wonderful riverwalk and am looking forward to it's continue expansion for us bikers. read more

This is a great place just to get outside for a walk. It's flat and open so if it's sunny wear sunscreen. You can roller skate outside the path but not on the walking trail. It's a short treck and it's good for walking your dog. There's a water fountain along the way. read more

Pretty awesome place, and friendly people that mind their own business but the path is too short! I bring my dog here once in a while for a walk in the morning when it's not too hot since there isn't much shade here. Very clean and orderly too, with poop bags but they should add a bathroom or something, unless the poop bags are for humans too haha. read more

I was searching for access to the LA River Bike path. I don't live close enough so I have to haul my bike on the car. The access there on Paula Ave next to the Griffith Park Apartments is pretty ghetto. The whole area was sketchy so I wouldn't even chance parking my car there. I also drove to Fletcher & Crystal off the 2 freeway. There are access points from Crystal and Ripple but the area is even worse. Guess I'll have to check out the LA Zoo parking next. I would hope that is better. read more
