First time in a court for a trial (red light) and I was in and out in 90 min. Here's how to make your experience as smooth as possible. 1. Take a Uber here to avoid looking for parking. It's a small price to pay. 2. Get here by 8 even though they start working at 8:30. 3. Most of the time the officer was not present so case dismissed. 4. Even if the officer was present , you can ask respectfully to reduce fine. A lot of times they will ask for a motion to dismiss. 5. Prepare your defense ahead of time just in case. read more

Went here for a fix it ticket inspection in a Monday morning. Nice and quick process, when I went it wasn't too busy. All the sheriffs in the front were nice and informative. They even took care of my ticket even though it's set for the Van Nuys Courthouse (which in itself gives me a headache thinking about going there). $20 cash or check for inspection fee. Then you can use card to pay the actual ticket upstairs. Courthouse was clean and not at all confusing, at least for my purpose. Only issue I had was the amount of parking they had for the Reserved Sheriff Inspection Parking. Had to circle the block a few times until there was an opening. If you're looking for it, it'll be located right in the front of the courthouse (they could use more signs to direct people too). Other than that, in and out easy. read more

I could not find the public parking for the life of me. Good thing I found a spot some what close by on the street. Friendly staff at the entrance. Yet the Deputy Clerk at small claims couldn't be any more in a bad mood. Too bad for the rest of us, trying to get a job done. Went to pay a fix-it ticket during these COVID times. The young man and woman set-up outside with their table made everything as transparent and smooth as possible! Signs were clearly stated for Civil, Criminal and Traffic filings and they were able to help me determine how to fill out the new Credit Card payment forms and drop them in the necessary envelope. I know it must be hard for these guys to sit outside in the heat all day helping any and everybody who comes by with a million questions, but they did a fantastic and professional job and made everything easy and safe! read more

Glendale Courthouse is located off of Broadway and Glendale Ave. I have been to this courthouse twice and both experiences were quite different. The first time we came to the courthouse there was no parking, it was extremely crowded, the docket lists were not updated, and everyone that worked there were so rude and unwilling to help. The second visit was the complete opposite, it was completely empty, the docket lists were upgraded to large screens in the lobby in addition to the paper version, and the clerks were so very helpful. The clerks in the community service center are extremely nice and try to help out as much as they can. Glendale's fees are a lot cheaper compared to Pasadena so if you must do community service this would be the ideal place. All in all no one likes to attend court for a mistake they may have made, but at least this court is not as bad as others. Be mindful that there is no parking for this courthouse except some metered street parking. Most of the metered spots are limited to one hour so be careful not to get a parking ticket in addition to whatever else you may be paying here. read more

Totally disorganized. I called the number to schedule my court date and no one picked up even though it was within the scheduled telephone hours window. Attempted to pay my citation via telephone (as I was unable to pay online) and they had no record of it. Also, I know that it's a separate issue but the police officer who wrote the citation, although informed otherwise, wrote down the wrong address so my ticket when to the wrong location. Glendale really needs to up its game when it comes to hiring its civil employees. The slowest, laziest sots I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. read more

Very poor service, poor attitude, and not helpful. Very disappointing, that our tax dollars pay for these employees' jobs. I came here for a name change and obviously I need instructions. They reluctantly give you information or give you nothing at all. Literally said to me "Do whatever you feel you need to do" as an answer to me asking for the next steps. When I ask for information I saw on their website, they said they don't have it. They offer no solutions or any help for the questions they refuse to answer. I had to come twice, and both times I felt that I was bothering the clerks by even talking to them or even needing them to do their job. They act like you are totally inconveniencing them and act surprised that you would even say or ask anything. The judge(?) in Department E who approved my name change was very nice and friendly.. The only person who was. This is something that we should receive some kind of guidance for, obviously it is the government process we need to follow. Now i'm left to fend for myself and dig up whatever information I can find online. read more

What a shit show! They don't even answer the phone lines during their phone business hours which is only 4 hours per day.

I wouldn't know if there is a designated parking lot for this particular court house as i've had to find street parking for the most part. The street parking is metered and the maximum is two hours which should be sufficient enough time if the court house employees were efficient enough at handling their tasks and duties. Apparently they are not. I arrived early in the day with all my necessary documentation so as to speed up the process or so I thought. There were several female guards at the door who were very friendly and gave me the impression that the rest of the time would go just as smoothly. There were two other people standing in line at the traffic window so I figured that all would be done within the next 15 minutes or so. WRONG! After waiting for what was about 20-25 minutes, the two people in front of me where getting agitated and pacing back and forth. I assumed that the person at the window had some kind of complicated case because the clerk was still speaking with him while the three of us in line waited....and waited ....and waited. I started eavesdropping because I wanted to see what was taking so long...they were speaking about BBQ! REALLY?! I'm in line, trying to accomplish things so that I could go back to work on time and you guys are talking about frkn BBQ. GRRR. The line grew increasingly larger and yet no other clerk showed up until a lady got out of the line to tap on the other windows that were not occupied and demanded that they assist everyone. The second clerk approached the window but did not seem very pleased at all though that is her JOB. I was hoping I wouldnt get stuck with her, if she has to be forced to do what she's paid to do, i dont want to deal with that kind of attitude. After finally getting to the window and luckily getting another clerk. I was then instructed to two other windows with seperate clerks. I didnt understand why I had to go through three people to resolve one ticket. The first clerk was mildly pleasant but the remaining two clerks not only gave me incorrect information, ommitted information and were really unhelpful overall. They gave me a slip with a number to call and essentially shoo'd me away. After taking time off of work to try to resolve this matter - I get handed something that I could have done on my own. When I get to work, i'm informed by my co-worker who used to work for the courts that the information they gave me was incorrect and was confused as to why they were so unhelpful and disseminated that information. I wasted half a day to find out I still had to return to get the issue resolved. It's really aggravating to know that these people are getting paid to essentially be unhelpful, rude and inefficient. The only reason they have a job is because people require these services- I dont understand how the basic concept of job security is lost on them. Headed here for a speeding ticket. Entered and went through the scanners and the women sheriff who is cute and young was rude. She was being extra assertive which was unnecessary because I heard her the first time. Made me uncomfortable to ask her for help because I felt like I was being treated like a criminal. They seem to be power hungry at the entrance. The Asian American woman is nice though. So then I headed upstairs to where you wait for traffic tickets. Appointments are one time but you do not go in until another time and it doesn't start till another. My appointment was at 1:30 and it didn't start until 2:30 for anyone not just me. The sheriff officer who sits to call the court to order is also power hungry and unhelpful. Staff here seems to be very rude. The judge wasn't taking anyone's side and was handing out guilty charges for everyone. They are inconsistent with how they go because sometimes the court will let you speak if you want a trial but other times they will go through everyone quick which sucks because when your out on the spot against Ms power hungry people it makes you feel scared. I unfortunately had to plea no contest. None of the officers showed up but it went the way of the judge who played judge jury and executioner. Be prepared to have it not go your way. Will never drive through Glendale again. read more

Let me start off by saying I was assigned in Burbank Courthouse. Apparently they share courthouses. Since Burbank didn't have a case, we were transferred to Glendale. Yes, they were generous and gave us ample time plus lunch to go to Glendale. (4hours). It was great! But wait! There's more! Glendale Courthouse has NO ON SITE PARKING!! We had to park about 4 miles, take a bus (the Bee line) walk to the courthouse to find out a half hour later there was no cases being held!!!! All dismissed! Yes! Wait there's more! So now..... No one told us where to catch the Bee line. So you had jurors walking aimlessly in circles from one corner to the next in hopes the Bee line would stop there with little luck. After 4 unsuccessful attempts we finally ran to the right corner. Felt like such a foreigner in my own town. read more

take an uber or lyft here if possible. everything inside this courthouse looks like it's from the 1960's. their employees all look like they'd rather be anywhere but here. i went upstairs to the clerk's office and felt sorry for them. it was a beautiful day out and they had all their blinds shut...it smelled like anxiety and mothballs in there. i want to block out the memory of ever coming here. all-in-all, it isn't jail. so that's good! read more

Tuesday morning here. Door opens at 8am to go thru security but I believe window opens at 8:30. Security was prompt. I have a fix it ticket for car registration but apparently no one here can sign it off and dismiss it so I was advised by security/ sheriff to take it to Burbank courthouse where they can do both. Please bring cash only as the meters are only taking coins but there is a 7-11 nearby and to it's only cash to clear the ticket as well. There are few street parking but street cleaning is on Tuesdays and Wednesday's if you have luck finding a spot. read more

This was probably one of the rudest experiences I've ever had. I went to the civil cases room today to file a petition for a name change. A middle aged to older black woman was working, and I walked up to hand her my paperwork stating that I was there to file a petition for a name change. She looked at the papers and said "everything you hand in to the court needs two hole punches on the top." I replied "oh, I'm sorry I didn't realize. Do you guys have a two hole punch here?" She looked at my like I was a complete fool and said "why don't you take a look around you, they're a courtesy." She then waited annoyed while I looked all around the room trying to find one. (Couldn't she have simply said they had some on the table when I entered the room? Which was where I found it after be made to feel like an idiot.) I walked back up and then she basically told me the form wasn't filled out correctly and "clearly" I needed some help. I haven't changed my name before, I will go to the self help places to get help filling out the forms that I was directed to, and then I'll probably go to the Burbank courthouse to file just because I genuinely don't ever want to interact with that rude clerk again. I actually came outside and sat down shocked that someone working there couldn't just be kind, or at the very least normal/polite. The making me feel like a fool was unnecessary. read more

Today I went to court for the first time for a traffic ticket. I wasn't too thrilled about being there, but it had to be done. Though the outcome of my ticket was not what I was hoping for, I was actually really impressed with the way things proceeded. Here are some things I appreciated: 1. Parking seems to be a problem for everyone, but every time I've had to go to the courthouse for any reason I've found easy and free parking on Jackson about a block away. Can't argue with that! 2. The lines were not too crazy. I definitely expected to be waiting 5 hours for anything. But I was in and out within 2 hours. Nice work. 3. I had no idea what to expect, I didn't know how things worked or what to do. Employees were great, they walked us through every step, and made clear what our rights were and how to employ them. 4. The judge was amazing. As I was listening to the cases ahead of me, I really appreciated the way she didn't take any bullsh*t from people, but she was still fair. She ruled in favor of the cop 4 times out of 5, which I expected, but in all fairness, the people going up against the cops had REALLY weak arguments. I loved that she joked around with people, but was serious when she needed to be. She really put me at ease and made the process easy. 5. All the employees at the various windows or offices were good natured and helpful. I got the directions I needed and the paperwork was easy. Normally I hate doing stuff like this, so I was prepared for a HORRIBLE experience. But I was surprised with how easy and (relatively) painless the process was. I still have to pay my ticket, and I'll probably be doing some community service to cover that, but at the end of the day, I learned a little bit more about how the judicial system works, so I'm grateful for that. read more

I've been here twice since my tenure in the city of Glendale. Both times, I have thankfully been on the good side of the law. The only thing I can say is that this courthouse is in dire need of a restoration. The building has not stood the test of time and is literally falling apart. I mean, the Glendale police department got a brand new building almost 10 years ago it seems. Why hasn't the city done anything about its courthouse? Are the men and women that work here any less important? For shame! Our people of the judiciary system definitely deserve better. It has to be a tough job already, but having to work in a decaying building is just too much. Allocate some funds. Throw a benefit. Do something, Glendale! read more

Not only is there absolutely no parking lot for this court house, but the longest parking you can find in the area is 2 hours, and that's three blocks away. Two hours should be enough to go in, pay a ticket, and leave right? NOT HERE! I waited in line for 2 hours and 15 minutes the first time I went here (and yes, I said first time, they sent me away for not having the correct documentation two times before even though I had them check the entire thing the first time) and at least 90 minutes the subsequent visits. The Officers running security at the entrance were pleasant, but that was the only pleasant part of my experience. As if getting a speeding ticket isn't bad to begin with, just hope that you don't get it in Glendale, because this visit was excruciating. read more

Been here over 20+ times now for various clients. Staff is friendly and helpful. Judges are kind, patient, and passionate. The only grudge I have with the courthouse is how aged it is. In comparison to the courthouse in Long Beach or some of the newer courthouses, this courthouse is in need of a serious facelift read more

I can't imagine anyone would give a courthouse a favorable review, but I do think that this courthouse has so many problems and is making such a mockery of the judicial system that voices need to be heard somewhere. I got a traffic ticket that I decided to fight because I was innocent. The deputy sheriff wrote me a ticket for using a cell phone. He pulled me over and saw that I had no cell phone but was holding a black box of gum! He still gave me the ticket because I didn't have my license with me (I am a harried scattered mom, it happens) and said we could talk about the cell phone in court. Hurray for me. So I paid a fix-it fine for the license, then went in for my court date to fight the cell phone charge and the deputy didn't show up (which didn't surprise me), so my case was dismissed. But before I could leave, this wacko Judge Morris (who kept telling us about his shingles all morning) had to call me up to the witness table to lecture me about cell phone use. I told him I was innocent, but before I could explain, he dismissively waved his hand at me saying "blah blah, it's the officers word against yours" and my proof didn't matter! Even though the cop wasn't even there. I was so shocked and he was so abusive I just had to get out of there. He mocked me in front of the remaining officers; it was as if he resented anyone getting their case thrown out. What happened to innocent until proven guilty? Or apologizing for the officer not showing up and wasting our time? This judge was implying I was guilty without the prosecution present and without hearing any testimony for a case that was dismissed. I get the feeling he finds all defendants guilty and that's a big problem. Also, the bailiff and the judge tried to intimidate all of us into not fighting our tickets. They said if you plead not guilty, chances are you will NOT be granted traffic school if you lose your case and your chances of winning your case are pretty slim. True, most cases are pretty weak, but we all have the right to defend ourselves regardless of the outcome. Just because it is traffic court and most of us do not have representation, that shouldn't mean that judicial ethics go out the window. This judge admitted he was unfamiliar with traffic court; it sounds like he has a lot more to learn. I am writing a letter to the Commission on Judicial Performance. People do not deserve to be treated this way or have their rights ignored. I don't recognize the country I live in anymore. read more

I had a hard time choosing the # of stars, because the traffic court judge I got was hella funny and lenient, but I just hate this courthouse overall. Who loves courthouses, anyway? Judge Morris receives 5 stars in my book! He helped to add 1 extra star on this review. However.... the traffic dept clerks, however, do not. I went to court on 10/21/2014 to take care of my issues, and as my delinquencies were cleared, I went ahead and made an appt at the DMV (the court previously put a hold on my DMV record). When I arrived at the DMV, 2 weeks after clearing up my court issues, they said there was still a hold on my record. She says that usually it should only take maximum of 72 hours! So I had to haul my ass down to Glendale during morning traffic, to ask them to send my abstract to the DMV to remove my hold. On the morning of 11/4/2014, around 9am, there were two clerks -- I had the older woman. I told her I needed to renew my license and I couldn't because there is still a hold, so the court needs to electronically send the abstract to the DMV. She didn't look like she knew what she was doing, she printed up this sheet and went back to the cubicle area and looked like she was asking people in the back what to do. She came back to the window 10 minutes later, asked me if I had paid $10 the first time i was there (2 weeks ago), I said no, they never told me to. So she says, okay it'll be $10. I gave her cash, she gave me a receipt. I asked if I could have a copy of the abstract for my own records. She says no, they don't give abstracts to people. Ummmm, okay... I didn't want to fight her on it, because I was already late to work (in Pasadena). Later in the afternoon, I went back to the DMV to renew my license. The woman that helped me how the court visit went, I told her I had to pay $10 to have them send the abstract to the DMV. She was baffled -- apparently, you're only supposed to pay $10 if you want a copy of the abstract for yourself! And I even specifically asked the woman at the clerk's office, if I could have my own. She said they don't give abstracts to people. So basically, I paid the court to clear a hold that they put on my DMV record. And I didn't get proof of anything for myself. They totally jipped me! I swear, it's like they back you into a corner so that $10 doesn't seem like much. Looongg story short.... if you're paying $10 for an abstract to be sent to the DMV to clear your hold, make sure you get a copy of it too! read more

I'm here to get my bail money back from a chicken-S ticket which was dropped, and there's 2 dozen people in line for one Window. The same guy has been at the Window for an hour. The guard says this is normal, and that a lot of people took vacations. I don't give a care. This is my work time. My money. Screw this. 2 hours after arrival, the lady at the one window tells me my ticket's still "in the judges hands" so she can't release my bail money or tell me how long it'll be before I can get my money. "We'll send you something in the mail." When asked if there was any expectation of how long that might be, I was met with a rather smug "nope." Not to stir up even more crap, but the metal detector people didn't even get off their rear when my belt set off the buzzer. She just said "lift up your pant legs". The non-white pair of guys behind me, however, got the whole business. Spread out your hands and legs when they set it off, wanding up and down everywhere, pat downs, looked through their brief cases (they looked like lawyers or businessmen or something). Well It was almost a 4 stars....but i have to give a 3 star....because it is absolutely difficult to find parking...luckily i had a motorcycle, and parked in between 2 cars on a side street. They make you take off your belt in order to walk through a metal detector that goes off anyways!!! Was helping my friend file for a name change and we were directed to the Civil Office Clerks. There are a lot of forms we had to fill out and like most things for the courthouse there was SOO much paperwork. I helped my friend as much as I could and when we brought up the paperwork there were a few things missing. So the lady verbally told us what we needed to fix and gave us back the paperwork, again I note: there is SOO much paperwork that most people who DON'T WORK AT THE COURT HOUSE have no idea what they are looking at most of the time. So me and my friend went through the paperwork and filled out as much as we could and brought the paperwork back. The lady went through it again, said there were still things missing. This happened at least three times. At this point she started having the WORST attitude, and giving major condescending looks raising and scrunching her eyebrows like we were stupid. She gave us a new set of directions every single time we went back up to her. She was not helpful what so ever. She ended up giving us a self help paper for a center in LA... the things needing to be fixed were simple but she was completely unwilling to help us. Me and my friend went and sat at a table outside of the room and I asked him to go get a pen from the office so I could go over the paperwork again and when he went in the office he heard the ladies talking sh*t about us. They were talking about every person that came in and out of the office while we were in there trying to correct the papers. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. RUDE. NOT HELPFUL. Very upset with how me and my friend were treated here. read more

Now and then, we all get pulled over for something or other. Sometimes we're lucky and other times we are not so lucky. In case of the latter and you find yourself in the Glendale courthouse, prepare yourself to be treated like a common criminal regardless of your guilt or innocence. The employees here, especially the ones at the traffic bail window, will be condescending and rude. They will look down on you, talk down to you and then close their little wooden blinds when they're through with you. If you are lucky, they will have two windows open, but chances are that only one will be open at a time. Even with a window or two open, attorneys have priority and can cut in line at their will, taking up as much as 30 minutes of window time. I waited in line for more than 40 minutes as two attorneys back to back cut in line, and one window after another closed on those of us waiting in line. This place sucks! read more

I went there monday and due to the line being so long I left. It's crazy how there is only TWO windows open and they havent done anything about it. On top of that you would think they would try to speed things up a little, but I guess NOT. This is why people end up not showing up to court on their dates and eventually getting their license suspended. I went back again today around 1 and there was still a long line but not as bad as yesterday. Reason I went was because I couldnt extend my court date online or through the telephone system and had to waste an hour to go and take care of the situation in person. Apparently the police officer put my birthday wrong and thats why I couldnt access the system. GPD and the Court both need to get their stuff together. This is ridiculous..instead of having budget cuts, maybe the city should try to spend more cautiously so we can still have a normal operating courthouse. read more
