    Pasadena City Hall

I love walking around the City Hall area. Pasadena is one of my favorite cities to visit in California. This downtown City Hall is such a beautiful building. It was built in the 1920's and has a mix of both Mediterranean Revival and Spanish Colonial Revival style architecture. I like to grab lunch and hang out in the courtyard area next to the garden and the fountain. At the top of the dome is a lantern, a column supported cupola 41 feet high, surmounted by an urn and ball. The highest point is 206 feet above the ground. There is a parking garage across the street for parking. Also out front are two large head sculptures of Jackie and Matthew "Mack" Robinson. This building has been used in many movies and television. Whether you are here for business or just to visit, Pasadena City Hall is a gorgeous piece of architecture to marvel at. Check it out at night when they have the lights on.

This is an ICONIC building here in our city, so I'll try to do it justice with an AI-slop-free review. I have lived here in Pasadena since mid 2022 and I've had the pleasure of driving by and even occasionally visit this monument to good Mediterranean Revival architecture (I did have to look that up, I admit, lol). This famed City Hall has been in Parks And Recreation (unpopular opinion: both The Office and Parks & Rec were made by the same team, but Parks & Rec is the superior sitcom), Big Bang Theory, and Parenthood. There's a large water fountain once to go in. There are towers you can go up through, to be able to get a better view of the city. Nice touristy spot, even for us local that live 3 minutes away from it, lol.

One of our favorite places to roam around in Los Angeles. Pasadena city hall is really beautiful, especially at night. There's plenty of street parking. You can usually roam around for an hour before security spots you and kick you out.

This is a review for the space only as I only came here for a photoshoot. I wasn't able to find close street parking on a Monday so I parked on City Hall's parking lot. It was $1.25 for an hour and you pay at the machine. Cash and card are accepted. It prints a parking pass and you place it on the driver's side dashboard. It wasn't too crowded on a Monday and only a couple of people doing photoshoots. The architecture was breathtaking and many photo opportunity moments.

Literally one of the most stunning buildings in the heart of Pasadena! As a resident and someone who works walking distance from this historical monument that turns 100 years old in 2027, I'm in awe every time that I pass it. Whether day or night, the city hall exhibits such an immense presence with its beautiful architecture. It is also commonly used in many movies and TV shows, and is only a hop, skip and a jump from Hollywood. If you're visiting LA, take a trip to Pasadena and experience all of the great things this city has to offer!

This was a 3.5 stars event since I Attended numerous community events this 2024 year through PCC: I showed up to 'Pasadena City Hall,' was for PCC's 100th year birthday celebration part 2 continued and Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration as well. There existed a Latinos' Parade on top of all vendor booths advertising their businesses handing out swags. Well....it was a super hot day, and I parked about a block or two away since they blocked off the immediate parking lot for vendors? This was a big community all complimentary event, but lack of parking from the City Hall itself kind of sent negative vibes in general. I wished there was an easier parking situation but that didn't happen.

A beautiful place for photos shoot, we visited on Sunday morning, there were many photographers with their clients all over the city hall. Parking was easy on Sunday not sure about other days of the week.

This is a gorgeous city hall and if you happen to spend the day in Pasadena, I highly recommend making a visit. There's plenty of parking and it isn't super crowded like other tourist spots in LA. The city hall in Pasadena transports you to something you might read out of a book or lost somewhere in Europe. This is free to visit and it's huge to walk around. There are so many gorgeous views from wherever you are. Each tower has its own staircase and they're not connected so you have to locate the staircase for the view you want. Overall, it's really beautiful here. There's a fountain and you can get really pretty photos for social media. It's also quiet so you could read a book on a bench if you want.

The city hall is a beautiful place that hosts events as well as many taking engagement photos etc. I came here for the symphony orchestra free concert and that was real nice. Also did my engagement shoot here when it was raining which was also beautiful. Just overall a cool spot all around!

Pasadena City Hall is a great place to stop at when visiting the area. I enjoy taking pictures, so going here was a treat. When we visited during the afternoon, we noticed many high schoolers taking prom pictures. Despite that, the atmosphere around still felt relaxing and didn't take away from my ability to fully admire the architecture. If walking around Colorado Blvd., I highly recommend taking a stop by the city hall.

Ask the Community - Pasadena City Hall

Can you fly a drone here?

No. CITY HALL is a government facility. Drones cannot be flown over government airspace

Hello as of 2022 can anyone let me know if Pasadena City Hall requires you to have a permit for a Photoshoot session?

As reviews clearly state: no unless formal with a crew and for profit.

Is their restrooms for the public to use?

    Mon-Fri until 6pm.

Can I take pictures here on a weekend down the hall ways and by the fountain and all that even if it is closed?

It's open for people to visit and taking pictures. I've been going there on weekends, and there are many people there taking pictures. I don't think there is water in the fountain, but the courtyard, stairs and halls are open to the public.

Hi everyone. I know this question has been asked but I want to find a recent answer. Do you need to buy a permit to take Photos in the Garden area/Inside City Hall?

Does the city hall allow for wedding photography during non-operational hours such as weekends? Or do I need to come by during business hours?

I want to have a photoshoot here, but not with a mask on. Is there a rule enforced where I have to have a mask on at all times?

    no.

Where to park on super car meet day?

Somewhere else. Or any of the parking structures within in a 2 block radius.

Does anyone know if you have to apply for a permit to take engagement/wedding photos?

You do not have to have a permit for Pasadena City Hall. I just shot there today. Here is the session. https://air.cam/c770213a-a95d-48c3-8159-bb4bde6cc1a1/… Read more

Can we take professional engagement photo shoot during the week days?

Yes! Just do be mindful that, as beautiful as it is, it's still a working office building, so be respectful. Also, the paid photographers do need to have a business license for Pasadena (one day or annual) on them, and you'll be fine!

And how super intense and cool (figuratively and literally) it was! Total about 10mi from the top of Lake - Echo Mountain - Castle Canyon trail - Inspiration Point - Sam Merrill trail - Echo Mountain and back down to Lake. DEFINITELY a strenuous hike and would highly recommend hiking poles, sunscreen, water, and snacks! The view is incredible, especially with tons of fresh snow everywhere. Hiked this early March 2023 and the Castle Canyon trail leading off from Echo Mountain (a decent hike in its own right) is pretty challenging, if not a bit brutal in some areas: slippery snow, downed trees and bushes blocking the path, and a heavy incline. Again, highly recommend poles. Once at Inspiration Point the view is phenomenal. The Pacific Ocean, Palos Verdes, Catalina Island, and even Anaheim and Irvine are all visible from the top, and downtown LA too of course. Lots of picnic benches and photo-op-worthy view finders for major Southern California sites. Gorgeous San Gabriel mountains in the background. The Sam Merrill trail leading down the backside of the mountain (and then curving back around to the south/west) is much more tame (but still a bit precarious with 2+ feet of snow) and very sun-exposed all the way back to Echo Mountain. All in all probably one of the more butt-kicking Los Angeles hike. Takes about 4-5hrs round trip depending on your pace.

Me and my husband started around 7:30am and finished the whole hike around 1pm at a steady pace with about an hour break when we got to Inspiration Point. The hike from Cobb Estate to Echo Mountain was a breeze for us, but the hike from there to Inspiration was a whole other story. I recommend wearing long pants as the second half of the hiking path isn't as clear and pretty narrow on some parts. We took our time and treaded lightly but still got some minor scratches on our legs from all of the branches and leaves. My husband started getting irritated from walking into all of the spider webs lol. Not sure if the actual hike was 2 miles from Echo Mountain because it felt so much longer than that. We started getting really tired near the end from all the incline. We almost gave up until my husband saw the view of Inspiration Point. Once we got there, the views made it all worth it! Would we do it again? Maaaaaybe lol.

There is also a lovely grassy area in the center where you can sit, relax, or have a small picnic. Geese walk freely around the gardens, and colorful parrots fly overhead, adding even more charm to the atmosphere. In April, the garden looks especially stunning -- the pergola and trees are in full bloom (I wish I remembered the names of those gorgeous flowers!), and the whole place feels alive and magical. You can come here with dogs, which is a big plus, but it's important to respect the property rules: pets must be on a leash, owners are responsible for cleanup, professional photography requires a permit, and activities like skateboarding, drinking alcohol, or organized sports events are not allowed. These rules help preserve the calm and cleanliness of the space. There is also a secondary school located on the property, which adds to the unique character of the place. The home was rescued from demolition and moved to its current location, where it now serves as an office building behind the South Pasadena light rail station. Upon arrival, the sky was almost dark so everything was perfectly spooky. My initial plan was to walk around the outside of the home & post the video on TikTok. But as I made my way toward the corner where the home is situated, I noticed a small film crew with a couple tripods. I figured they were recording something for social media too, as it's not unusual to see that type of thing in L.A.. But I received an extra-special surprise immediately after seeing the famed Michael Myers mask atop another tripod. A young man dressed in Myers' signature coveralls appeared & told me he was shooting footage for his TikTok page with the group I saw earlier.
