Sent 2 pictures of how I wanted cake and supplied all the decorations to go on cake. When picked up cake it was a whole different color. Needless to say I was appalled. Attempted to communicate with the owner of Emily's Cakehouse and she dismissed all of my concerns and proceeded to say she chose that color because she thought it looked better. Cake was yellow gold! The cake was $300 and offered me no resolution or compensation. This cake did not go with any of my baby shower decor. The owners response was "it must be your first time ordering a cake cause I worked hard and you can take it or leave it." Not once did she attempt to communicate with me and ask me if she had any questions.

I decided to order again for her 4th birthday and I was quite a price that had increased by 50%. I was shocked by the price, but I understand that inflation has impacted us all. I knew that we were satisfied with the service before, so I was ok playing $180. When we picked the cake up, we noticed that it was collapsing, but thankfully it made it until the birthday party. She also told me (at pickup and not before) that she made the Afro puffs out of styrofoam. Why would you put styrofoam on an almost $200 cake. At that point there was nothing I could do, it was already done. When it came time to serve the cake, my hands were dyed black from having to remove the styrofoam and it peeled off half of the top layer of icing. We started to eat the cake and my husband came to me and whispered that he had a long hair in his slice. I later had two other guests mention that they had hair in their slice. I was absolutely mortified and infuriated. I sent a respectful message with pictures to the owner/decorator and her solution was to offer a free cake for the next time I needed one. Umm...no thank you! This cake was inedible due to the hair. It's like playing Russian Roulette with each slice. Like I said, inflation has affected us all, and we spent quite a bit to have a cake of such poor quality.

Hometown Eats. What an exquisite little eatery/bakery! So happy to have found this place, which has…read morebeen under my nose for the past year apparently. Small, but comfortable place that has a few tables inside and out. Sell coffee and baked goods but also has a nice little breakfast/brunch menu. The owners ran the place and really seemed "happy" to see us, took time to walk us through the menu, offer suggestions, etc. just extremely "comfortable" place to be from the moment we walked through the door. My wife and I always pick two entrees and share. We went with the breakfast sandwich and the biscuits and gravy and we were not disappointed. The house made brioche bun for the sandwich and the biscuits were out-of-this-world delicious. Based on that, I would wager that the other baked goods they had displayed (scones, cinnamon rolls, etc) would have been wonderful! (I'll be back soon to confirm this) Back to the food...the sandwich was very good- egg was perfectly "over hard" and high quality cheese and bacon. The maple-chipotle mayo absolutely made the bite. Next time I will ask for extra, maybe slathered on both halves of the bun. The flavor of that mayo was unlike anything I've tasted- thoroughly enjoyed it and it complimented the overall flavor of the sandwich so well. Delicious!!! As already mentioned the biscuits were outstanding...which is not something that I say lightly. While I will always try biscuits and gravy, I am usually disappointed and it is typically because of biscuits that are too dense and too dry. These were neither- they were incredible and I'm not sure what gave them the touch of "sweet" but that little touch took the flavor of the biscuit over the top for me. Finally, the gravy was perfect from the amount of sausage to the elegant "sage-iness" of the bite. With respect to the quantity of gravy, it is not uncommon for places to not give enough gravy. The ratio of gravy to biscuit must be difficult to master, well they've done it at Northern D'Lights!! Just incredible experience and we will be back, on the regular! Give this place a go...great place!

My husband got the breakfast bowl with egg, veggies, and bacon. We were the only ones there which for barely 7:30am is understandable, the man behind the counter was very nice and friendly. Over all we loved the quiet breakfast to kick off our morning and will definitely be back.

I parked under a tree & entered around the corner. Lots of pastry selections with coffee selections as well. I took my time as a lot looked yummy. I chose a savory pizza bread which had the choice of Pepperoni or just cheese. I chose the Pepperoni. Saw a Cruffin so I asked the clerk what it was filled with & she said Strawberry. Chose that & a featured Lavender VaLatte with Oat Milk. The clerk put the pastries on an aluminum tray lined with a wax paper sheet but I had her bag my Cruffin. She proceeded to make my Lavender Latte & I saw her pouring regular whole milk in the frother so I asked if that was Oatmilk & she stopped herself & said "No it's not. Sorry, I didn't write the order down" or something to that effect. I sat down by the one soda while she made my drink which was smooth & subtly lavender. The pizza bread didn't have a chewy bread texture and was soft. My friend arrived and ordered a large Americano, a Cruffin, Tart -pastel de nata & savory tomato/cheese pizza twist Danish pastry. She loved the pastel de nata as it reminded her of Portuguese tarts. We sat on the wooden tables with benched seating & chairs. The sofas are soft but one fabric chair had stains on it. There are other small tables & barstools with counter seating. Nice natural light flows in. Bathrooms were clean & additional seating was outside on a deck. I could see a nice party outside except the train runs across the street so that could be an issue as they blow their horns coming thru. They sell merch & preserved jellies & honey too.

When we pulled up, I immediately thought how cute and quaint the place looked. I loved the vibe of the area and it gave a really welcoming first impression from the outside. Once we stepped inside, though, the experience felt a little different. The person behind the counter didn't seem very engaging, and when my son was trying to decide what treat he wanted and asked a few questions about the items in the display case, the responses felt pretty minimal. It made the interaction feel a bit awkward, and I ended up skipping the bread I was considering because I didn't want to ask more questions. That said, the desserts themselves were good. The macarons were delicious, and the cheesecakes were pretty tasty as well. I'd be open to giving it another try in the future, as the bakery itself seems like it has a lot of potential.

Especially if you go there after 5:30pm. She will constantly remind you that she closes at 6pm. Personally, I have NEVER spent 30 minutes in a bakery anyway. You can tell that she straightens up the goods and she makes faces when you pick bakery items of cases she already organized for the day. If she's on the phone, she'll ring you up and send you on your way without hanging up. Because I get off of work at 5pm, by the time I get there it's 5:30. To clarify, she's done it routinely (not just once). I've decided to shop for a different bakery even though this one is on my way home.

Im looking & waiting for her to it in the box; after she noticed I was looking, she finally puts it in the box. Also she's is not very welcoming. Very rushed & assumes people can speak Spanish. Won't be returning and will definitely get my pastries elsewhere. Also, she asked me if I wanted a receipt and I said yes because why almost 30 dollars for some pastries. She tears off the paper from the register. I get home and look at the receipt and its not my own; its the customer's before with card info and etc. A big No Thanks for this place.
