I do not understand it. The first time I went, the cake was great. I got the coconut and it was really moist and flavorful. This time it is so dry it's inedible. Yes, I let it sit out and thaw and I'm wondering if that is the problem- do they freeze the cakes? If made properly that won't make a difference and the cake will be moist and delicious. It is so expensive $9+ to get a cake slice here and yo be so disappointed by the quality is a let down. I mean if all you do is cake and you want to charge an arm and a leg at least do cake right. I was visiting town with a friend when we found this place. I liked the concept of the place and wanted to give it a try. The place was clean and neat inside. We were able to get a table thankfully before the crowd showed up. The women that worked there were great and very patient with us as we were figuring out what we wanted. We had ordered a few cakes to try. My cake was red velvet, oreo filling, topped with vanilla cake, buttercream frosting and strawberries. My cake tasted very good and I really enjoyed it. The frosting was pretty sweet but I was able to handle it. I liked how we can build our own cake however we want. My friend had a carrot cake with chocolate cover strawberry on top and her cake tasted nice too. I did order another cake for my mother which was a brownie with buttercream and chocolate cake on top. The cake tasted fine but the brownie wasn't that impressive. The brownie was hard and it didn't taste as sweet as I hoped. We had also ordered a flight of coffees to give a try. I really liked the tres leches coffee tasted good and sweet but not overpowering. N-bee honestly just tasted like coffee with not much added i was expecting more. After I mixed it with the pink cream on top it tasted better. The blueberry muffin one i didnt taste any blueberry at all. Probably my least favorite one for sure. I didnt get a chance to try campfire but my friend liked it. Overall it was a fun concept and happy I had the opportunity to visit. I was here with a girlfriend for a girls day and we both built our own cake. Slices could be easily split or shared as they are rich. I thought the selection was good. I think there was about 5-6 options for each item (cake, frosting, filling). A few cons though. Not much seating indoors. I wish there was a few other savory items, but the kolache was enjoyable. The icing is very sweet and the cake was a little dry. The filling scoops are cute, but when you make a layered cake, the filling doesn't evenly spread. Friendly staff, chill and cute environment. While out in New Braunfels for the annual Christmas tree lighting, I decided to give this little jewel a try. This location was formerly a breakfast spot I used to frequent before it closed, so I was familiar with the layout of the place. Upon walking in you see a setup similar to a sandwich shop, but with cake. You select your cake type (vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, etc.) then you choose your icing. Many different types of yummy icing. I was a little late and missed out on the vanilla cake. So, I opted for cheesecake, chocolate cake with banana pudding flavored icing. I opted to pass on the additional toppings. I paid my $8 and was out the door. Not a bad price for what I got. Service was also great as well. I got home and jumped right into it. I honestly was expecting a dry cake since it was sitting out for a while, but it was quite the contrary. The cake was plenty moist and the banana pudding icing was yummy. I think this is an awesome idea but I feel like execution is just as important. We tried to go our first time at 6pm and they were sold out of cake. Our second time we called before and they were stocked. The vanilla cake and chocolate cake was delicious. The red velvet was super dry and left a lot to desire. The butter cream tasted like store bought Betty Crocker. I wasn't that fond of it. The Oreo filling was good! The inside was super cute and they had other things like coffee and matcha that we didn't try. They also had little small things to look at shopping wise. read more

We stopped by Cake Bar and tried their "Build a Slice" option, which comes as a two-layer creation. One slice was classic chocolate cake with buttercream frosting--sweet, decadent, and everything you want from chocolate cake. The other was a unique mix of lemon cake, carrot cake, buttercream, and banana pudding frosting. Surprisingly, the unusual combination worked really well. The cake was moist and soft. We stopped in today on our way home from downtown for a few "build your own" cake slices. This is some of the best cake I've ever had! It's overall not too sweet and very flavorful. I love the concept of being able to pick my cakes, fillings, and frosting. We built two: almond cake, Bavarian cream filling and brown sugar cake and a cheesecake, fruity pebbles filling and finger to cake. Both were 10/10 The service was quick and friendly. The cake was good, but the real star of the show was the fillings we all agreed that our fillings were phenomenal. The cake slice was a decent size and really sweet. Most of us ended taking some home because we couldn't finish them. The people were working were super sweet. They could use more tables and seating options and I would like more options for the build your own cake option because that's the draw of the cafe and that felt very limited, but I would absolutely go back for a special occasion. read more
