The bakery was founded in 1868; it is recognized as the oldest continuously operating bakery in Texas. Naegelin Bakery is located in downtown New Braunfels, which makes it convenient for sightseeing and picking items up to enjoy while engaging in local activities. The bakery has old-world charm...old school display cases and shelving along with the quintessential bakery smell. You are immediately drawn into the bakery web. Definitely an ole school bakery... Naegelin's is known for traditional German baked goods, including apple strudel, kolaches (both fruit and meat), German rye bread, and its iconic pink-frosted Lebkuchen cookies. According to bakery staff, many recipes are still based on formulas developed generations ago. I purchased apple strudel, oatmeal raisan cookies and a piece of cheesecake. All were good, however, the strudel was the standout. The bakery also offers a wide range of breads, cakes, doughnuts, and seasonal items, making it easy to find something regardless of taste or occasion.

I was very disappointed, none of the above. I don't think the girl working had a clue what I was looking for. I really don't think she knows much about German baked goods. First clue this was not the place. We bought a cream puff (basically just Pate a Choux w/bland vanilla pudding), a Maple Pecan Roll (sweet no maple flavor), sweet pretzel sticks (New to me. I was not sure what to expect here but not good) and something else. None seemed very good or fresh. Not a horrible place and I don't want to be negative. But, I always look for things I miss from living 6 years in Germany. If someone is looking for similar I don't want them to be disappointed or lose valuable time and effort.

There are many options to choose from, but decided to go to the "Sweet Bites by Lizzie". Just to let you know, you can't go wrong with this place. The customer cakes are outstandingly delicious and created with heart. Besides the wonderful cake I got a s'mores cookie and a carrot cake. The cookie was great the flavors were tremendous, if you go I recommend this one. The carrot cake was equally delicious and great with a cup of coffee. If you are looking for a dessert place that offers custom offerings this is the place to go to.

Furthermore, the final cake looked absolutely nothing like the photos Communication was incredibly disorganized. The day before the wedding, she called to ask if I had the flowers for the cake, even though I had already paid her to provide them. She also called to ask if we needed delivery, which was also already paid for in advance. When I addressed these issues, she was very rude and tried to blame the mistakes on graduation week--which is completely unacceptable given that I booked and paid well in advance. I would not recommend this business to anyone

We had eaten a big breakfast so only had appetizers of sorts... First we had the lemon rosemary fries.... So good! The aioli that can with them was AMAZING!! Then we tried to Mac and cheese.... Simply delicious! Just the right amount of cheesy and creamy and breadcrumbs and wow! We may go back just to have a real meal to see what they can do when with more options.

After awhile, I noticed how good the food coming out looked so I had to place an order. I received a pager for my order and went to wait for my order. It seemed like it was taking forever and the pager never buzzed so I went up to check on my order. Turns out, they had been paging the wrong pager number and my order had been sitting there for awhile which I found to be frustrating (I was hungry). My order contained the following: - Ciabatta Steak Sandwich: Absolutely delicious! The meat was perfectly cooked, the bread was soft, everything was perfect! - Grilled Steak Fries: Some of the best fries I've ever had! AMAZING! Once my friends tried them as well, they all wanted more too. I would definitely order from this food truck again as the food was incredible, but hope they can be a bit more organized in the future.
