I came in alone on a whim to just get a feel for what style would be for me before my "official" dress shopping with friends and family. I came around 11:30 on Friday and was pleasantly the only one in the shop. I let them know my budget was $2,000 and described the style I was most interested in. Grace was wonderful and took care of me! I picked out a few dresses I was interested in and while I found a few I liked, I ultimately was about to give up, but Grace said she had one more she wanted me to try. Well, it was the one. She brought it from the back and I fell in love. The dress was &1,999 and Grace confirmed I was ok with going over $2,000 with taxes and then alterations next time. I really appreciated that since it's normally not asked when you buy anything - they only mention the sticker price. Ultimately I said YES! Grace gave me the card of a seamstress they used to have in house, but I'm going with my own seamstress (though I don't doubt the recommended one is fabulous). I can't say enough good things about my experience with Grace. She asked me questions and chatted to make me feel comfortable, knowing I was doing something outside of my comfort zone. I went with my parents right at opening on a Saturday and was welcomed in by Bridget, who was wonderful with assessing what I was looking for and walked me through the process with ease (her coworker also peeked over to see what I liked as well!). She also made the experience incredibly fun, even with me and my family having initial nerves to getting excited and having a blast. Although I didn't end up purchasing my dress from Glamour Closet, I want to give this shop a well-deserved 5-star review based on the outstanding customer service I received. Glamour Closet operates on a first-come, first-served basis and doesn't take appointments. I visited on a Friday and was warmly welcomed by Veronica, who was incredibly friendly and patient throughout my visit. As I tried on dresses, she reminded me, "You have to really love it," which helped me stay focused on finding the right one. I found two dresses I really liked, but since I didn't have any shapewear with me, I wasn't ready to make a final decision. I fully intended to return the next day, but ended up stopping by another shop on the way--and unexpectedly found the dress. I went into the store looking for an off-the-rack dress because I had been indecisive about my dress choices during my engagement process and decided I didnt like the dress I bought elsewhere. I wanted to take my time looking through their selection before putting the clips onto the hangers of the dresses I want to try.. and not 5 minutes later, the lady comes up to me saying "how about this one? you havent clipped any dresses!" What are we, rushing, now? I'm just trying to take my time with my decision so I dont end up with dress regrets again but she's complaining I'm not clipping the dresses quick enough. Felt like the entire time I was there, the lady kept encouraging me to "stop starting over, stop stressing yourself, just alter the things you didnt like about your dress.." so you dont want me to spend money in your shop? i was made to feel stupid for shopping there. I felt embarassed that I wanted to shop for a dress that I will love. I dont understand why I was made to feel that way from a bridal store. Sure, the lady's attitude was nice. but the things she said, in a nice way, was rude, unnecessary and unprofessional. Even if I had loved a dress, I wouldnt want to buy it here. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this bridal store to any bride. This was my first time ever going wedding dress shopping, and I was nervous, but very excited. I went with my gay best friend because I wanted it to be a low key experience due to the fact I was nervous. Nonetheless, I expected to be met by happy faces and made to feel special. Because this is a special time for any bride. The minute I walked in I was greeted with unpleasantness. I immediately felt like I wasn't supposed to be there and like I was a burden for even walking in. I was asked my budget and answered honestly that I wasn't sure because I was open to anything if I loved it enough. I asked what the average price range was, and was told it's about $3,000 to $4,500. To any bride reading this: not one dress I tried on was over $3000. I was asked if I had done research into the store before arriving, and answered that I had done some very minimal research, which also seemed to somehow offend the women helping me (Veronica). So, if you choose to come here, make sure you'd be ready to take an exam on the store if they handed you one. The initial encounter only continued to make me feel more humiliated. I could feel my face getting more and more red, and that didn't even tip off Veronica that I was feeling nervous. Because this was my first time dress shopping, I was unsure of my size, and tried to ask questions to gauge what I'd be knowing bridal dresses traditionally run smaller. I was told brides usually come in already knowing their size from other bridal stores. So, definitely come knowing your size because they will not help you figure it out. Admittedly, I look very young, but I am a woman in my late 20s, so maybe it seemed I had shown up to play "dress up." However, I was clearly wearing my engagement ring. To make matters worse, I was asked if my best friend could see the dress I was trying on, as if I would bring my fiancé dress shopping with me. When I responded that he was my friend, the entire demeanor of Veronica changed and all the sudden I was treated with slightly more kindness. Truthfully, when we left the store, I just cried because the whole experience was nothing that I had hoped for. About the store: I came on a Saturday at opening time after hearing that there could be a wait. I was the first one there, followed by a couple others soon after. The store is organized by silhouette and style into 4 long racks. Half of a long rack is devoted to extended sizes and there's a rotating selection in the closets. All the dresses are in very good, if not new condition. Many dresses still have their original tags. The dressing room in the back has large wall mirrors and a pedestal. I was a little worried it might be hard to find things under my 1.5k budget, but there were plenty of options. The experience: I really appreciate that they have no time limit, just a dress limit of 8. I was able to take my time to choose dresses while Sara, my wonderful stylist (and store manager) pulled suggestions for me that were so perfectly in line with the photos I showed her. She was super familiar with all the inventory, even remembering the sizes of many dresses! I got in and out of the dresses and Sara helped button me up and clip me in. She was super knowledgeable about fit, potential alterations, and offered really helpful opinions, such as how many sizes up I could shop for depending on silhouette, or if a dress just couldn't be altered in a certain way. She was also so friendly and patient! I found my dress at a great price and received a garment bag, as well as a couple alterations recommendations and a dress preservation recommendation. This review is LONG overdue. I bought this dress back in 2019 but my husband and I had to postpone our wedding due to the pandemic. We finally had our wedding in July of this year! I had bought my dress at Glamour Closet after visiting many wedding dress shops to figure out what silhouette and styles I liked. I'd highly recommend doing this first before doing a trip to Glamour Closet since this is a consignment dress shop and all sales are final. That way you have time to reflect and look back on photos of you in potential dresses before making this very big decision. You don't want to experience dress regret! I've had times when I thought I found the one in the dress shop but when I looked back on the photo, I decided there were certain parts of the dress I did not like. Veronica was so incredibly helpful during the process and helping me to try on many dresses in the store. I came first thing in the morning at 10AM on a Saturday and the store was not busy. There was only one other customer in the morning. They gave a few clips where you clip the dresses you are interested in and then the store representative helps pulls those dresses for you and helps you into them to try on. The store is organized by size and you do want to make sure when shopping to stick within your size range as it will be a very hard for a tailor to adjust a dress that is either way too big or too small. I am so grateful to have made my dream dress and veil all under my budget! I ended up picking out a dress that I had never seen or tried on before at other stores called Martin Thornburg for Mon Cheri Rena Dress (217217). I also ended up trying a cathedral veil while there that fit perfectly with the dress. The dress was $1100 and the veil was $300 plus tax. I went out to lunch after visiting Glamour Closet and they did a courtesy hold on the dress and veil for 1 hour while I had time away to think about whether I wanted to proceed with the dress. I decided mid-way through lunch that this was the dress and I called back Glamour Closet saying that I would be coming back for it! I would also highly recommend to double check for any damages to your dress and/or veil before leaving the store as you will not be able to return them. The shop also recommended a few tailors and I ended up seeing Marina at Le Caprice (in Cupertino). She did an amazing job tailoring my dress to fit at a good price. I went to Glamour Closet a little over 6 weeks ago after having a horrible experience at another shop in San Francisco. The first shop had a person who grabbed dresses for you and with my appointment absolutely did not listen to anything I wanted in a wedding dress. Then I remembered that my MOH had told me about Glamour Closet so I pulled up the website before leaving the city. I was surprised to see that there was as no appointment required! So we called over and they had space! We drove over and immediately were swooning over all the gorgeous dresses and the vibe of the place! I love that they give you little clasps to put on the dresses you like! They even tell you what sections have what silhouettes! And then they pull all the dresses you marked and bring them into a very large fitting room. Amber was helping my group that day and she was just wonderful! Being a curvy bride, I was very self-conscious. But I immediately felt better after trying on the first dress! There is a range of prices here too! I ended up falling in love with a few dresses and left with two! It is final sale so be sure, but they let you try the dresses on as many times as you need and let you take your time making sure you feel comfortable! They even help talk you through some ideas for how you can alter a dress if you're kind of in love but kind of on the fence. 3 days before my wedding in Lake Tahoe, we had to cancel due to the Caldor Fires. We decided to elope and managed to get a spot at City Hall, but I wanted to save my actual wedding dress for the bigger wedding. I searched through all the major department stores in SF looking for an elopement dress with no luck. I had an incredible wedding dress experience at this lovely bridal shop! Veronica is amazing. As my friends and I approached this boutique, we immediately realized how modest it looked on the outside. After we entered and started browsing the racks, we were pleasantly surprised. The selection is massive! They receive new arrivals every week from top designers. These dresses are samples at a discounted price. It's definitely worth the visit. There's something for everyone here. The racks are organized by new arrivals and style of dresses. I've visited many bridal shops prior to this one, but I was blown away by the dresses at this particular shop. If this is your first time dress shopping, it might be overwhelming because of the variety of dresses. However, the customer service is fantastic. Ask anyone at the front desk and they'll be happy to help you navigate the racks and sizes. Don't be afraid to choose a dress that's larger than your size because you can make alterations later. Since this place is very popular and only does walk-in appointments, be sure to come early. There's almost always a wait list (1-2 hours), but you can grab lunch while waiting for their phone call. You'll have 15 minutes to return for your dress selections. Once you're in the dressing rooms, there's no pressure to try on dresses quickly. There's no time limit, but you should still try to be courteous to the other people in line. Veronica has the best advice and knowledge about the wedding dresses. You can tell that she knows her stuff! I've learned so much about each and every one of the dresses that I've tried on. This is a long overdue review. This was the first and it turns out last and only place that I went to for wedding dress shopping. Why do I love it? Let me count the ways. First and foremost, I love that it didn't require an appointment, unlike many other places. Secondly, the shop, is very well-organized by style and you get as much time as you like to pick up dresses that you like to try on. The limit was 8, but that was plenty for me. The experience itself was amazing too. I truly felt like a princess and being as picky as I can be I was truly amazed but how, dare I say, fun the whole process was. Of the 8 dresses I picked, the first dress was awful on me. Definite no. The second dress was a huge improvement and one that I wouldn't have minded getting. I guess they say the 3rd time's the charm for a reason because that's the dress that I ultimately bought and I absolutely love it and I know my fiance will as well! However, I still didn't want to rush to buy it since I was planning to go to 2 other stores (that shall remain unnamed) in the next few weeks. I reluctantly left the dress, knowing that there might be a possibility that it would no longer be there should I change my mind, but I had the 4th dress as a "backup" in case that might still be there. Sara, who is an absolutely gem and greatly helped me in the process by offering her expert opinion, bubbly personality and taking pictures that I could send to my Mom since she couldn't come with me, graciously told me to make a note of those 2 dresses in the meantime and also took their info. Long story short, I never went to those 2 other wedding dress shops and when I called Sara the day before to check if either of the dresses were still there 2 weeks later, they both were, including my favorite! I went there the next day and not only did I wear my favorite again (just to be sure) but other dresses and it confirmed that I had indeed found "my dress" on the 3rd try and I was lucky it was still there this time. I was a bit apprehensive about alterations, but the seamstress that Sara recommended charged me the same price that Sara had estimated it would cost, which was a huge relief! In addition, my wedding is only a few mos. away and the seamstress has no problem altering it by then and I'm so glad that I was able to order a sample off the rack without waiting for anything else beyond alterations! I cannot wait to wear this dress and show it to my fiance on my wedding day! Thank you Glamour Closet for making this the best experience in preparing for my wedding so far. Anyone looking for a beautiful wedding dress at a reasonable price and especially in a shorter timeline, don't even bother making an appt. at other stores, just walk in to this one and you'll walk out happier with your dream dress! I do recommend coming in during the week, as I went, since there's no wait and I was the only one there. Sara, the main shopkeeper at this store, is the greatest! I have been to EVERY affordable bridal store, even multiple Glamour Closets in other cities (bc I was so so stressed about finding a dress AND crazy picky). So, having seen every other place out there, I can confidently say that Sara's the best. But here's more reasons why: 1) She was patient and encouraging - I stopped by GC prettyyyy often - every few months for a year basically. Each time, Sara would intro me to the new options and instead of pressuring me or berating me for my indecision, she was just so supportive, talking up the highlights of each dress and giving me tips on what I should look out for and alterations she would recommend. 2) She has so much empathy and friendliness - we chatted about her also-upcoming wedding, shoes, venue tips etc. It made shopping so much easier, when you know someone's coming from a place of knowing exactly where you are! I showed the attendant a few pictures of my ideal dresses and she immediately pulled three dresses. The first two were hard no's but the third Pronovias ones was perfect - sleek & modern, yet elegant! They walked me out to the platform and took pictures so I could see how I looked. I knew it was the one and that the dresses go quickly but I needed time to think before I purchased it. They were upfront about which shops they received their dresses from - and I found out they received some from a nearby place in Alameda. TL;DR - Not a good place for a "first time" dress buyer or a large entourage, but good for budget conscious and adventurous lady! I will start off with saying, I am a sample size. Wedding dresses run about 2 sizes small and many dresses you will try on are 6, 8, 10, 12 ish range. That means that if you are a bit of a larger girl, this place isn't ideal if you're looking to take something home today - especially if you're looking for a particular dress or designer! When I went in, I learned that a size 8 fit perfectly over my bust (normally a C/D cup size) and I'll need to take it in at the hip and hem (I'm 5'1). - Don't arrive with a large entourage. - Don't be shy. Stay firm and stick with your budget or designer, ask for a dress that someone just tried on but won't buy (it's the only one!!!) - Do arrive early - before they open! - do you can get a spot. I was maybe 6th bride in the door and got situated 1.5 hours later. - Do get a bite to eat near Chinatown - Do keep an open mind because here's the thing, you might get lucky, and you might not... it happens. - Do wear nude undies! - Do try on all the lovely designers - I tried on Oscar de la Renta ($10,000!!!), Watters, etc. Here's how this place operates (because not enough people discuss what it's like): You get in a queue/line and if you're nearing your appointment, they have clips. You clip dresses that you want to try on. Once it's your turn they make you go in the back to try on dresses. You get a consultant and she helps you in and out of dresses, and they'll narrow down the style you like.There are only 3 dressing rooms. You'll be able to try on more than 8 dresses if you'd like, and they don't rush you like most appointments. Most bridal places are strictly 1 hour but here, they will let you try on until you're finished or want to purchase because that really is the ONLY one they have. They do not alter onsite but will let you take the dress home and recommend several great places to go to for alterations. Good experience overall. read more

Glamour Closet is near my office and I called in advance to learn about their sign-up policy. They let me stop by earlier in the day to put my name down for a 5:15pm appointment after work. I brought 3 of my work friends to go wedding dress shopping. The store is organized based on dress styles (i.e. A-lines are on one rack and fitted gowns are on another) and it was a good thing I already knew what style I was looking for. I would not recommend it for someone who hasn't tried on other gowns before as it could be overwhelming. What I enjoyed was the ability to look at every gown on my own and pick the ones I was interested in. What I didn't love was the price point. I was actually quite surprised that even though this is a sample sale shop, it seemed like most of the gowns are $2,000+. Due to the format of the store, the gowns can get quite dirty and a few may have minor issues like needing zipper repair. Once I selected the dresses I wanted to try, I was led to one of the dressing rooms in the back. Given that it's in SF, I'm not surprised by how small the changing area is but with limited seating for guests and only one big mirror area for up to 3 brides to share, it was a tight squeeze. The associate who helped me was very nice and helpful. Unfortunately, I am currently not sample size (since I am pregnant) and almost none of the dresses fit me. Glamour closet is incredible if you love getting a good deal for high quality designer dresses. My sister and my best friend came with me on a Saturday morning and just to be safe we came 30 minutes early and lined up outside. We were first in line and 5-10 minutes before the line grew. Only 3 brides at a time can get on dresses otherwise you'll face a 1.5 hour to 2 hour wait. Many groups put their names down and go get brunch. I would recommend bringing the shoes (or similar shoes) you plan to wear, wearing nude underwear and bringing pasties or a stick on bra. Most dresses are padded or can have padding added but this will help you envision what the dress might look like post alterations. Wedding dress sizing is usually your regular size plus 2-4 sizes up. I'm usually a 2-4 and I tried on dresses anywhere from size 6-8. The ladies are very knowledgeable about alterations. It's fine to come here as a first time shopper if you have a general idea about what type of dress you might like. But don't be afraid to try on some different dresses too. Make a Pinterest board and share it with your entourage so they can help you pick out dresses. Veronica gave us 8 pins and had us pin them to dresses on the racks. The store is very well organized and has plus sizes rack too! Don't be afraid to pin something that doesn't have a size or is too small/too big! The dress I bought was in the new arrivals rack and had no size attached!! My sister kept going back to it because of the incredible lace detailing. I suggest only bringing 1-3 people with you because there isn't a lot of space in the back. Veronica was the most incredible person to work with and took her time getting me in and out of each town we selected. We made a share iPhoto album so both people could take pictures and make notes. I also tried on the most expensive dress in the store (originally 22k to 6k with a detachable train)! But... I ended up buying the very first dress Veronica put me in - it was an Anna Maier Bridal gown called Miriell. It fit perfectly so I won't need too many alterations. The under layer is white satin with an over layer of ivory lace. The inside of the dress was impeccable too and I also was able to get a veil. The discounts here are amazing (WAY better than LOHO loft) and I was able to get this designer dress for 1/3 of the original price and the veil for 1/2 of the original price. I still can't believe I bought the first dress I tried on - I tried all the others just to make sure) but it was so worth it. Veronica will help your in and out of each gown, talk you through the details and pin it in different areas to get the best fit. If you fall in love with a gown make sure you walk out with it because once you leave it goes back on the rack! You can also call them or get on their mailing list to see when they get new shipments in!
