I needed a product to help my dull looking hair look shiny and healthy after blowdrying it, he recommended Aquage, a brand I was unfamiliar with, but he said to give it a try and that I would love it. I would have reviewed Enrique sooner but my experiences with hair dressers is that they make you look perfect in the shop, but when you get home and the style falls out you find the cut wasn't as great as you thought it was. I came to Long Beach for a work meeting with horrible roots (I couldn't get in with my stylist in Philly before my trip), so I asked a colleague for a local referral. She referred me to Enrique at Glamarama. I have very light platinum hair with very dark roots, which I know is difficult to match. Hesitantly, I made an appointment not knowing what to expect--I needed to look polished for my meeting! Let me tell you, this was worth the risk! Enrique matched my hair color and toned my hair to a more flattering blonde. I was so happy!!! Enrique is amazingly talented! I donated my hair first and went to him to style it after. We were a little pressed for time because I had a work event to get to but he was able to make me look super great in just an hour by evening out my ends and doing my makeup with a glamorous smokey eye. He usually likes to take his time with clients so he invited me to come back for a "real" haircut and he added the perfect layers, bangs, and curled my hair beautifully for my birthday (three days after). Enrique has been doing my haircuts & highlights for some time now. Enrique is extremely thorough when consulting with his clients regarding haircuts & hair color (which in my case was balayage highlights with long layers). He definitely takes his time when doing your haircut & your highlights (balayage), but it is worthwhile! The result was natural looking balayage highlights and the haircut was amazing! My hair looked amazing and flows gorgeously. I loved my highlights & haircut, but I realized after a few days that I wanted a lighter look than he had achieved. Since my hair was virgin, we opted for a high lift tint over bleaching the hair. We chose this route because we wanted my hair to have minimal damage. I voiced this concern to Enrique and he asked me to come back for an additional set of highlights (this time with bleach) and the result was exactly what I wanted!!! This boutique salon in long beach is a very intimate setting to get your haircuts and highlights. I've been waiting my whole life for this haircut. Enrique gave me a stylish, cute, exactly-what-I wanted cut on my extremely curly, thick hair. It was no small feat, and it looked better than I'd ever imagined. Enrique takes the time to really do a good job with your hair, and he considers whether the cut you want will actually look good on you and with your hair texture. Enrique is awesome. He really listens to what you say and has a very creative eye for solving hair problems (like when you start snipping at your own hair-yikes). He did a beautiful violet and dark brown color on my hair and cut my layers into the perfect shape. I also had him do my make up for photos for my business and I'm glad I listened to him and had him apply the lashes. He gave me a very natural clean look. I just finished up tonight and I feel like a completely different person. He gave me back beautiful hair and color. What most impressed me is that he makes a point of meeting you first before deciding how he wants to proceed. I found this beauty supply/salon while scouring Yelp reviews for curly hair stylists. The glowing reviews were helpful, but the Glamarama website is what really sold me. The before/after photos are amazing. It really helped to see the diversity of clients Enrique has. I have very curly hair and on a lot of other salon websites they had few, if any, photos of curly haired clients (even when they professed to be curly hair experts). I called Enrique and arranged a consult the same day. He showed me how to use a Paul Mitchell styling wand to create the ringlets I've never been able to achieve. That amazed me! I booked an appointment the next day and ended up getting a very cute cut and great color. Just like other reviewers said, Enrique was super attentive and really took his time with my hair. He definitely took care of me like a real host. He's got a cool boutique vibe going on at Glamarama and has lots of awesome supplies. I ended up purchasing the magical styling wand and he offered to give me lessons on using it. I also bought one of his homemade scented candles. What a passionate and talented artist.
