She was decent but didn't give the same generosity as the lady I usually see. I paid for my stuff and forgot gloves. I didn't have cash and already rang up my stuff. As she reached to grab me some cheap gloves that look like they use for their store she charges me $1.10 mind you there's a 75 cent fee. I was stuck starring at her and luckily the customer behind me said she would pay the $1.10 I understand business is business, but small interactions like this can still impact how customers perceive your store. Customer service goes a long way, and up until my interaction today, I genuinely believed that was something this store valued. I'd also appreciate it if Black customers were not automatically stereotyped as being rude, unruly, or lacking manners. We are not all the same. I come from a family of judges, doctors, and other professionals, and I personally have two degrees. Respect should be given to every customer equally.

If you show up in the final minutes, you're taking a chance and you're no victim. Your 1-star rating, whining, and attempt to disparage a business that has faithfully served you for 6 years is selfish and destructive to a small business. Perhaps you should rethink the vindictive nature of your post and own your mistake.

I refill many of my household products and personal items here. Some time last year I went in a Saturday about 4:45 and it was closed. They are scheduled to be open until 5:00. So today I called about 4:10 and confirmed with Julie that they would be open until 5:00 and she said yes. I arrived at 4:55 and the door was locked. I knocked thinking she would open as I knew she was still there. But no. While still outside I saw her leave. And did yell saying you said you would be open until 5:00. She did not care. Apparently they are doing so well that a customer that drives 45 minutes to give her our business is not interested. We will not be back. This is not the only refill place in the area but we thought, falsely, our business was appreciated.

However, when I've gone in looking to purchase something specific, it hasn't been available -- even when I returned a week or two later. Yes, it's something they sell in store normally. The staff is generally helpful, though I did have an awkward experience at checkout. When I mentioned the weight of an item, the staff member questioned the accuracy several times. I wasn't sure if she was new or if there was some hesitation in trusting the information I provided. She said she was "just trying to make sure it was right," but it felt unnecessary and a bit uncomfortable. It might make more sense for staff to weigh items themselves to avoid situations like this. Overall, it's a pleasant store, but the inconsistent availability and that checkout experience make me unsure if I'll return.

The reason why - and I have to point this out because the store is named Rooted - is most of the neon pothos did not look too healthy aside from one plant in a 6" pot (larger than what I was looking for). In fact, many of the plants were rather middling, with soil looking dry when most inventory are tropical houseplants. Was it the heat at the time I visited or negligence? I'm not sure, but even with seemingly fair prices as plant shops go (4" philodendron Brazil was $12), it's harder to buy a plant that looks sickly. In addition to plants, Rooted also carries housewares and refills for shampoo, body wash, etc. I can't speak to the prices because I have a similar store within walking distance that I typically bring my dispensers to.

Not sure what the purpose of the outlet name is for as I think the only outlet was Gap. I could be wrong with the other stores. With any retail area, things come and go so having a storefront survive is amazing. It's a nice outdoor shopping experience with dining options to add to it. There's a few sit down dining places but nothing overly fancy. You have more of the bigger chain restaurants right across the street along the water and Shoreline Village. There's a movie theatre, a comedy center and a couple of decent amount of shops. Nothing over the top but your local shops like HM, Nike, Guess, Gap Outlet and a few others. It is a nice place to walk around and just see Long Beach. You're literally close to the convention center which is right across the street. Aquarium and the park is also across the street which a bridge is also use to cross over. The Marina Park, Shoreline Village are all a couple minutes walk from the pike. It's a cute little outdoor shopping area but nothing major. There's plenty of parking in the structure with some street parking along the strip.
