I really wanted to love Gjusta. The atmosphere is great, the patio is beautiful, and the breakfast burrito had good flavor with bacon, eggs, melted cheese, and a tasty green salsa. What really ruined the experience, though, was the service. My $20 breakfast burrito arrived well before my $5.50 cappuccino, which made no sense. I waited over 30 minutes for the coffee and had to ask three separate times where it was. Finally, I walked inside, saw a barista making a cappuccino, and asked, "Is that for Table 100?" It was. Only then did it finally make its way to my table. That's simply unacceptable. Spending nearly $28 for breakfast sets a certain expectation. I don't mind paying premium prices for premium food and service, but this visit didn't deliver either. The food was good--not exceptional--and the service fell well below what I'd expect at this price point. I can see why people like Gjusta, and I hope this was just an off day, but based on this experience, it's hard to justify the cost. Great atmosphere, decent food, but the service and value left me disappointed.
Gjusta is one of those places that feels uniquely Venice. The space has a cool warehouse-style feel with plenty of outdoor seating and a patio that makes it easy to hang out and enjoy your food. I built my own sandwich on a closed baguette with octopus, arugula, tomato, olive oil, and black pepper. The ingredients tasted fresh and high quality, and the sandwich was ready surprisingly fast. At nearly $20 after tax, it's definitely on the expensive side for a sandwich, but that's somewhat expected here. Between the fresh ingredients, quick service, prepared foods, and variety on the menu, there's something for everyone. A little pricey, but a great spot overall.
A casual dining experience. You pull a number and wait for them to call your number. When we went it was actually quite a long wait. But once your number is called and you place your order the food came out quite quickly. We had ordered the Greek Salad, a couple of sandwiches and a tart. Overall the food was good but not sure about that long wait. Maybe I need to try some other stuff.
Decided to check out Venice Beach today and went to Gjusta for lunch. We ordered a pecan roll from their bakery items to start off. It was light a fluffy but wished there was more pecans as it was not sweet enough. It was more croissant like but good nonetheless. For our entrees we got the pastrami sandwich and breakfast burrito. The pastrami sandwich was a little oily but it was flavorful. The pastrami was also a little salty for my taste. The bread was nice and crunchy which was a plus. The breakfast burrito was good. You can taste all the ingredients inside. It was just a little saucy as it was leaking the liquids inside. This is a nice area to people watch and soak up the LA sun. Most of their seating is outside with a few seats inside and patio area. They are dog friendly but not in the patio area. Most of their items on their menu were averaging about $20 which is not bad for the area. Did not get to try their cafe area as we were going to grab coffee at another place but others were ordering it. Nice environment and place to people watch and everyone was friendly. It would be a nice place for a date or catch up with friends.
Gotta say food here is pretty great and great for outdoor seating. Definitely coming back next time in the area. I'll say the only draw back is the long wait bc it's so popular. Granted still worth it imho
I left Gjusta feeling like I rode an emotional rollercoaster. Parking was decent on a Saturday afternoon. We grabbed a ticket at the front and waited about 25 minutes to order at the counter. I loved meandering through their small shop and the art gallery next door. Stepping onto their patio, I felt like I was hanging out in the backyard of a rustic farmhouse. Very charming. Here's where the emotional rollercoaster began: 1/5 Chopped Italian Salad - Not the Chopped Italian being chopped! This was quite disappointing...there was too much acidity, and the structure of a chopped Italian was lost here. The cheese choice was also off. Not sure what cauliflower was doing here. Overall, a really dry, unpalatable salad. 5/5 Iced Flat Whites - I saw another Yelper post these, and I can confirm they are as delicious as they look. 4/5 Pastrami Reuben - One of the better pastrami reubens I've had. The rye was the star of the show. Even though it was a pastrami sandwich, it felt light and healthy. Pickle was a NO. Not tangy, but very salty and watery. N/A Tuna Conserva - Only took one bite. 100000/5 Banana Cream Pie - CARRIED this meal. Not too sweet = perfection. The crust was my favorite part. I would order a whole pie. This came out to ~$88 for 2. You'll enjoy Gjusta if you care about natural, made in-house, wellness-focused eateries. I will come back for their bread, pastries, and coffee! *There is a separate, shorter line for coffee/bakery orders.
I stopped in for lunch yesterday hoping to eat on the beautiful garden patio but alas, the patio was full at 11:30 a.m. Bummer! We grabbed seats at the counter which definitely changed the experience. I love the rustic warehouse interior and have been eating at Gjusta for many years. The food is always delicious and the service is friendly and helpful. The Italian sandwich is a meal on its own-a ciabatta baguette, sopressata, mortadella, ham, chopped escarole, pickled peppers, tomatoes, onions, fontina, mayonnaise and vinaigrette. This sandwich is HUGE! Just a warning...We also had the Pork and Beef Meatball sandwich on ciabatta with burrata and parmesan. Personally, I would have loved more cheese but the sandwich was solid. We also had the shortbread, walnut, and cardamom cookies which my shortbread aficionado friend proclaimed, "delicious." I, on the other had, had what I think might be LA's best sea salt chocolate chip cookie. That cookie had me at first bite...the buttery taste came through immediately along with sweet chocolate and sea salt. My only regret is that I didn't buy more. But I will. Soon.

The food here is among the best in LA. The service is fantastic and the ambiance is great too. Feasted on an herbed lox and bagel with all the veggies and the tomato confeit with anchovy. An iced latte and fresh squeezed orange juice were the drinks. I had heard about this place for a while and finally arrived to the party today. Damn what a good party it is and I will for sure be back. Their variety is incredible, the patio seating is comfortable, and their service was excellent. Especially David who took my order. All in all it's in just not to come to Giusta! Thanks for a great brunch!
Stopped by Gjusta to pick up a sourdough loaf and immediately understood why people love this place so much. The bread is exceptional. Deeply flavorful, perfectly textured, and the kind of loaf you start planning meals around the second you get home. The pastry selection looked absolutely divine, and the whole space has that beautiful balance of rustic bakery, neighborhood market, and elevated food hall. Shelves lined with honey, olive oils, preserves, and little specialty goods make it impossible not to wander around for a bit longer than intended. I didn't have time to sit down for a meal on the patio this visit, but I already know I'll be back for that soon. Even just stopping in briefly felt like a little sensory experience in the best way. A truly special place for anyone who loves really good bread and beautifully curated food spaces.
Gjusta has a ton of different items to choose and eat from. I love coming here for lunch and the very tasty sandwiches and pastries. I haven't had a dish I didn't like! The outdoor space is really nice spot to have a meal and relax.
What We Ordered: -Breakfast Burrito $25.00 -2 Iced Flat White @ $6.88 Each -Cinnamon Roll -Chocolate Croissant It was my wife's first time exploring Venice outside of the boardwalk, so I wanted to take her somewhere special to experience the city's vibe. We chose Gjusta for breakfast and went to the counter to order. I was clueless about what to get, but the young man behind the counter was extremely helpful with recommendations. We ordered lattes, a cinnamon roll, a chocolate croissant, and a breakfast burrito. The cinnamon roll was okay; it was different and had a bit too much frosting for me. My wife really enjoyed the chocolate croissant. The breakfast burrito was a bit pricey and had too many potatoes, as seen in the photo. It was an artsy take on the dish, which we enjoyed, but the price was steep, so we probably won't order it again. The lattes were decent. The service was a bit spotty because they were busy. We had to get our own napkins, which wasn't a big deal. I was surprised that gratuity was automatically added to the bill, regardless of the party size. Overall, everything was expensive, and I'm not sure the value was there, but it was a place we could check off the list. The outdoor ambiance is beautiful, and I really liked the rustic California look. We wouldn't rush to come back, but we would try other items on the menu.
This was a $26 bagel so pretty insane. I got the bialy onion bagel which was good but really toasted and crispy, I wish they left it a little more chewy. I added turkey, cheese, avocado, bacon, and micro greens. It was good and pretty big but didn't blow my mind and definitely shouldn't be almost $30
This place is almost always packed. Please note there are two sections the cafe area and the normal area. The cafe is based on a line system but the normal area requires you to grab a ticket. They have a few signs stating such but it is easy to miss. It's like a deli counter where they call your name. I've been here a few times and they are known for their breads. I got the brisket bahn mi this time. It was alright. It was a little messy to eat since a lot of the items fell out and pretty pricey but that is expected since it's venice. Don't expect anything too authentic. but the service is good and the people that work there do try to make sure people that ordered have a seat. read more

Gjusta is one of my favorite places to bring people when they want the full Venice experience. The patio is absolutely beautiful and has that relaxed California vibe that makes you want to sit outside for as long as possible. It is bright, welcoming, and always feels like a little escape from the rest of the city. The food is consistently good and made with high quality ingredients. Their breads and pastries are especially impressive, and they even have gluten free options, which is a huge bonus. I have enjoyed everything I have tried here, from baked goods to their sandwiches and salads. The only real drawbacks are the long lines and the fact that they do not allow substitutions. The lines tend to be long no matter the time of day, so you have to come prepared with some patience. The no substitution policy can also be difficult if you have dietary preferences or want to adjust something on the menu. Even with these challenges, the overall experience still feels worth it. Once you finally sit on the patio with your food, it feels like a true Venice moment that is hard to replicate anywhere else. We're glad we did because we realized we needed hostess gifts for later in the day and ordered a baguette and two dips. And breakfast! Sausage and egg; egg sandwich. OVERALL: I DREAM OF GJUSTA. Gjusta is one of those Westside LA staples where the weekend line is guaranteed to be long, but almost always worth the wait. That said I strongly prefer going a weekday off-peak hours to avoid the line. On a Saturday or Sunday, you can easily wait 45 minutes just to place your order. Now the food. This is hands down my favorite breakfast / brunch / lunch spot in all of Los Angeles, and dinner would join that list if they offered it. I have worked my way through much of the menu and can honestly say I have never ordered a dish that did not hit. Standouts include their iconic in-house baked bread (seeded rye is my personal fave), the salmon bowl topped with romesco sauce, the massive steak and eggs plate (offered weekends only), and of course the famous fish plate that comes with 3-5 cured fishes of your choosing served with bread and all the fixings. I highly recommend ordering family style with friends so you can taste the rainbow. On the sweets side, Gjusta is famous for its pastries, but for me it's the tahini brownie and the chocolate avocado mousse. Both are a dream for chocolate lovers. On the service, some people take issue with the service style here since they are not big on modifications or extra requests, but I always leave Gjusta feeling deeply satiated and genuinely happy. You just have to go knowing that there might be a wait, and you should be ready and decisive when placing your order. On the ambiance, the environment is effortlessly charming with an international feel, and a communal courtyard vibe where you are just as likely to run into a neighbor as you are the star of the last movie you watched. The olive trees add a subtle Italian flair and there is a palpable levity to the outside area. In conclusion, I used to crave Erewhon when I leave LA. These days, I dream of Gjusta. read more

Okay, baby pals, I'm totally torn--like a diaper after a blowout. Technically, this joint doesn't have a proper changing table, but they've MacGyvered this ancient commode into one. Though it's a death trap in disguise: no safety belts (hope your kid's got ninja grip), zero pads (hello, splinters!), and a rusty wooden surface that's basically a tetanus shot waiting to happen. I'd slap two stars on the baby "adventure" (if survival counts as fun), five stars for the food (yum, no regrets there), and three stars for the service--plus all that chaotic hustle just to snag a table. Wanted to really like this place but alas I didn't. It is huge with amazing outdoor seating and the smell of bread baking is intoxicating, but unfortunately the food is underwhelming. Very cool trendy spot. LA vibes for sure. My friend saw some celebs here one time. Glad we came on a Sunday for lunch after church! It was a fun experience. Tried a lot of things while we were here bc why not! My favorite things I had were from the bakery: goat cheese scone & chocolate croissant. Top tier pastries. We also were big fans of the cauliflower side dish. Great flavor. I don't typically go for cauliflower but this was nice. Fries were also pretty good. The chicken dumpling soup was also really good. Definitely more of a chicken noodle soup though. Still delicious but felt like false advertising maybe? No big deal I ordered the pastrami Reuben, and unfortunately it came out like 20-30 mins later than everything else. By the time it came, everyone else was basically done eating and I wasn't even that hungry anymore. Tough! We asked a few waiters to check on it and it still took a while. Sadly, wasn't very good either. The slowness probably made me less interested in it anyway. I think it has fennel on it, & I'm not a fan of fennel. Oh well! Street parking wasn't too bad for us, but street parking is always hit or miss. If it weren't for the slow service, I'd be all in on this place. Very fun cool spot! But I was disappointed with how my food came out significantly later than everyone else's and took away from the experience sadly, so can't give it a 5 star. read more
EASILY one of the best breakfasts I have EVER had in my lifetime!!! Look you are going to drop $20 mostly anywhere and it's easy to drop $30 here but it's SoooooooO worth it. This place is literally the reason I choose to stay in the Venice Beach area on this trip. EVERYTHING THEY DO IS AMAZING!!! I arrived right before they opened on a Sunday and was the 1st customer of the day. Elias was the person who helped me and boy was he awesome. They are a very unique place and I usually am a quick order but in this case I definitely had some questions I ended up building my own sand which was some type of specialty onion bagels with onions baked into it WoW it hit different and was delicious. On top of it I knew I wanted Lox (shoutouts to DBlock) but I wasn't sure what kind since they have a bunch of options. After talking to Elias and having him describe the differences I decided to try the Pastrami Lox (Gravlax). Perfect choice with that bagel. Add cream cheese and pickled red onions and the meal was Heavenly. I also wanted an iced coffee. After asking for a recommendation Elias told me about the Salted Mocha which was right up my alley. Twas okay. We got the Meatball Sandwich + Italian Sandwich. My friends enjoyed the contents of the Italian Sandwich, however the bread was tough to chew. Ordering was interesting as you have to grab a ticket and then wait for them to call your ticket number to order. We waited for about 30 minutes to order on a Saturday around 1 pm, but the food itself came out relatively fast. 20% gratuity is included already. The inside and outside patio is cute though and it's nice to sit in the sun while you eat! I wouldn't order the Salted Coffee again but the Honey Latte was okay. Had such a good fish dip toast here this morning and drip coffee. I was initially confused by the setup inside since there were two ordering counters. The staff were super kind and helpful explaining how to order. The outdoor patio is huge and they brought my coffee and food out so quickly !! I loved the design inside and outdoor ambiance. The fish toast was heaven. An abundance of protein atop a fresh grainy toast. I bought cardamom walnut shortbread cookies to dip in my coffee which were also fabulous. I'll definitely be back !! Overall, I'll give this place a 3.5/5. The food is delicious in the staff are really friendly. I ordered a bahn mi brisket with au jus on the side. However, the pit I have with this restaurant is their line system. There were no instructions that told us we need to grab a number- so my friend and I were waiting there for five minutes thinking we were in line, but we were just standing around with a random group of people. read more

Quality of food was very good and tasty. But my simple Americano was not so tasty and felt lukewarm. I was with guests I was hosting so, couldn't turn it back. You order and sit and they bring you the food 20% gratuities are already added. Which always sucks. Unless, they are always on top of their service. I was fine with the workers and they were plenty of them. But no one clean the tables between guests. I was there for 2+ hours and didn't see them with a cleaning material. Outside seating was pleasant. I did enjoy mu Shakshouka and Baghlava Crossiant. Prices are relatively high for my taste. $115 for 3 simple breakfast, 3 hot drinks, and a sweet. Really cool hidden gem! You won't be able to really tell just passing by but once you're inside you are transported to a whole new world. Fresh breads and pastries of all kinds. Some gluten free and vegan options. It might be a little overwhelming when you first enter because there's a lot of different things, lines, products going on but be patient. Take a number! First line us just for coffee and pastries/bread. Last two lines past the refrigerated cases are for ordering food and everything else. Pick up drinks at the end if it's to go. All kinds of pickled stuff, fermented, smoked fish and salmon, pizzas, sandwiches, cold cuts, egg breakfasts dishes, mezze platters, olives, salads... so hard to choose!! They have amazing jams, seasoned salts, granola and other nuts that are packaged to go. I got the seasoned salts when I grill my fish and it's just perfect. Plenty of outdoor seating and covered areas. You'll be surrounded by olive trees, wooden tables and benches, sunny and shady areas. So relaxing. Service is quick and efficient. The only sucky part is parking, you'll have to find street parking and sometimes it's packed but it's worth the experience. read more

I love the vibe and the outside seating is tranquil and spacious. Pricey with a mandatory 20% tip which surprised us. I forgot about that. You're told when you pay. We had the soft scramble with toast. Very delicious. $14 plus 20% tip. read more

The ordering process was annoying and confusing. None of the menus they had out were the correct menus for the day (it was all a catering menu for 4th of July). Staff had to get us a menu after we stood around trying to figure out how to order. They auto included a 20% gratuity for ordering at the counter & open seating which is a concept I'm not in love with. But I suppose the food itself was good and fresh enough to mildly offset that part of the experience. Each plate was $25 and well-portioned. I appreciated the fresh and healthy ingredients but ultimately I'm not sure if I would recommend Gjusta for the price point and service. read more

Lunch was definitely great but it's very pricy for what you get! I enjoyed my Italian sandwich and the fries are cooked very well. I got the golden lemonade and it was pretty good but heavy on the turmeric! Would probably come back just for a sandwich, I'm not sure the sides are worth the prices! read more

Love this place. I will be back for sure. Be prepared for Street Parking only tho. They open early morning. I like salmon dishes. It will come with toast and salad to eat with. Atmosphere is very comfy. Servers and stuffs are attractive to help. read more

Where can I park? Drove around yesterday and I only found Golds Gym parking and the street parking was filled with homeless camps.
Sorry, but it's street parking only. Gjusta parking lot was converted to outdoor seating. I've parked as far away as on Rose, but also been lucky to get a space 2 blocks away on Sunset. Good luck.
Are dogs allowed?
Confirmed. My friend and I were turned away due to her small dog. The self-identified manager we spoke to stated firmly that the health code prohibits, but it's easy to verify that both the LA County and State of California health codes allow dogs…

Gjusta is almost always busy. It's counter service, so it's never too bad. Longest I've waited to order is 10 minutes. Getting the food can take a bit but you also need to find a table (can't poach tables w/o ordering first). Either way it's all…

No. They don't have a liquor license, but you can bring your own booze.
Are there GF options? I didn't see any on the menu.
There are bunch of breakfast and plates you can order and it won't have any gluten. But as I remember they don't have any gluten free breads and their equipment won't be gluten free
