Just toured giving tree today as my dog got evaluated. Evaluation comes with a free half day of daycare. Monday through Friday they're open 7am to 7pm. Weekends are currently 8am to 5pm, although they are looking to extend hours to 6pm. Nap time every day is 12-2pm. It's a 12,000+ square foot facility (it used to be the Future Business Leaders of America building) near reston towne center. They started just 5 weeks ago with 5 dogs, and today my dog became #70! While my dog was getting evaluated, the owner, Yong, gave me a tour of the whole place. They have multiple different rooms based on size of dog. They also have an agility training room. They use the GingrApp online portal for booking and records management. Floors are an epoxy resin for easy cleanup and also grip for the dogs' paws. The only downside is that they don't have live feeds for you to watch your dog, and I love spying on my pup while I'm working. Also, while they do have an outdoor space that's a half acre, it won't be open until they get their permit to build a 6' wall (at the moment it's just a decorative boundary-type brick wall that's like 1.5' tall). So for right now it is indoors only, with an outdoor area for potty breaks only. They have referral bonuses at the moment. If you are the referred, you get a free half day(?) of daycare. If you are the referrer, you get a free forest walk. The "comfort" boarding option is just a standard wire crate. Forest view is a kennel with an outside view. Presidential suite is an 8x8 room with a tv that up ur dog can watch. All boarding comes with daycare. I can't remember if it was just the presidential suite or if it's all of them, but it also comes with 2 forest walks. The "day camp" options you see in the menu are add ons to the regular daycare day. They do also offer cat boarding. It's a room with cat trees and cat condos for them to hang out in. Large and clean and friendly facility. They also offer grooming on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I think I'll be adding Giving Tree to my rotation of daycares! read more

Check in was easy. I received daily messages with photos showing how our cat was doing. He seemed very happy and you could see from photos that over the week he became more comfortable and adventured out into the play/climbing spaces, someone was also playing with him. I love Giving Tree Pet Resort! They are so good to my Collie, Duke. The front desk people know him by name and smile as soon as we walk in the door. And Duke forgets all about me when we walk in the door because he wants to go play! They also send me fun pictures of Duke playing with the other dogs. Probably not the best place for grooming needs. I called and was informed that the groomer I had previously been told about and planned to use left to go somewhere else. A manager there told me that the groomer they currently have has only been there a short time, but that he used to cut men's hair. that did not still confidence. The manager was going to check if one of their experienced groomers would be able to help out and call me back the next morning. But that never happened. read more

Great care, staff, and experience. I went out of town for 4 days and I got daily updates through pictures of my puppy and the live feed camera in her room. I knew my dog was safe the whole time since there was always someone working at the facility. read more

They are so sweet to my puppy. He has separation anxiety and very timid with other dogs but it seems not to be the case when he is here. I have two dogs and they love going to daycare and boarding there. They are truly an amazing place and even let their cousin dog stay with them!!! We appreciate that they go out of the way to make sure they all connect when they are there since they are different size dogs and have to be in different rooms. read more

We haven't boarded here yet, but Mud, our high energy pup, goes to daycare a few days a week. He is SO excited to get out of the car and play with his buddies!! He also seems to do a better job self-regulating himself in their facility as he does rest and nap occasionally which he rarely did in his previous daycare. And, he doesn't smell likely old urine when I pick him up which was the case previously..... Once the backyard wall is built, I think this place will be awesome as outdoor run around time is the best. Staff is very professional and I LOVE that they text photos from time to time of Mud with his buddies. It's also not crazy loud like some places. Not sure if it's because there are fewer dogs or that they are able to have a calming effect in their clients...! read more

My pup and I had a Very Disappointing experience! Didn't look all that clean and Smelled of pure urine.... When I toured I was not able to see the play area. But I was able to Hear my 5lb puppy Scream So Loud and then a girls voice saying oh my God what happened !!!? I told them I want my dog back out here immediately. When I asked what happened the guy says "I think" he may have got scared from one of the big dogs. My 5 pound puppy should not have been anywhere near any of the "big dogs. I take my dog, Luna, to GTP for daycare and she always seems to enjoy it! I especially appreciate the 15-minute forest walk option, which gives her a nice break from the play area and some fresh air. I also like that they separate dogs by size, so large, medium, and small dogs have their own spaces. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that they don't have webcams like some other facilities. It would be great to have a way to check in and see how Luna is doing throughout the day, as well as how she interacts with other dogs and the staff read more

I was very unimpressed with the state of the facility. There was random stuff everywhere, it felt very cluttered and not clean. I wasn't able to see the medium or large dog breed group rooms, but from the cameras they looked subpar. The small dog breed group room I saw, and it felt messy and small. The space that the dogs are let out to go potty was a small enclosed area with a turf surface. It had the worst stench like it was never rinsed or cleaned. It was obvious the dogs don't get much outdoor group time. It was just sad that everything online makes this facility look amazing and it was anything but that. Needless to say, we will not be using this boarding or daycare moving forward. I scheduled an evaluation to have my dog see how she did for future day care and boarding visits and the front desk had no record of my appointment. Thankfully, the lady at the front desk was able to quickly get me booked and registered. Overall though, the staff seemed fine, but I didn't get an overwhelming sense of safety and security for my dog like I have at other places. This place would have to make a complete 180 before we decided to use their services. read more

My dog is a rescue dog and very nervous. Giving Tree has been so helpful and kind with her over the past 10 months. I left her to board there for 11 days this past summer and she was fine when I got back. She now runs in to play and doesn't look back. They have done wonders for her and are always pleasant to interact with. read more

Giving Tree is my dog's second home. I've only had good interactions with every single staff member there. They were also very compassionate when they found out my senior dog passed away. My current dog does the daycare there almost daily and the staff are always great about drop-off and pick-ups. I always like seeing the pictures they send to see what she's been up to that day and they let me know of any anomalies throughout the day. She just completed the hybrid training where some of the lessons were in my home and some were at daycare. This worked well to help teach her in multiple environments and have her teachings reinforced where she plays. She was rescued from a shelter at 18 months old and after 3 months together, with the guidance from Adam their trainer staff, she's made a lot of progress with her general manners. Adam was great about incrementally progressing her with positive reinforcement. For boarding, she seemed to do fine in their Forest View Deluxe for a few nights. We're trying a longer stint there soon, so hopefully that goes well too. She's had her nail trimmed and enjoyed some of their extra add ons like Forest Walks and Adventure Camp. Overall she seems to genuinely like it there and the staff seem to genuinely like her back! read more

I was thrilled and happy at first. On my dog's 3rd visit, he was injured. After many calls and emails and being told he was fine and in the contract it says they're not responsible for injuries, I left Giving Tree Pet Resort and will not be taking my pooch back. I was being told he wasn't limping in the videos, but after leaving he was not able to jump/run/do any large motor activities. He was hiding under tables and whimpering in pain. We ended up taking him to the vet and he was diagnosed with a strained in his left leg/muscle. We could not even touch his left hind leg without him yelping and he was trembling from pain. He's currently on pain and anti inflammatory medications. Giving Tree Pet Resort would reimburse us for the reminder of our package. After many calls that do not go to a voicemail and email and several frustrated conversations later, they agreed to let us transfer our remaining package. They would not take responsibility for their lack of care and lack of communication. Julie, the assistant manager would tell us one thing and the owner Young would tell us another thing. Be aware it says they're not responsible for injuries in your contract. Very disappointed in their actions and how they responded. read more
