Had a very unfortunate experience for our Christmas Eve this year. We tried ordering Delivery from Giusseppe's through DoorDash tonight and after our order was confirmed by the restaurant I received a call from the manager informing me they were out of the Caesar salad for the night. Mind you, I am a restaurant manager as well and have been for quite some time so I know these things come about and I understood the situation. After finally being able to get a sentence out after being so rudely interrupted repeatedly I asked the manager to please just cancel my order all together. I would have cancelled it on my end but because the order was confirmed the order was technically "being prepared by the kitchen" so I wouldn't be able to get my full refund back. Mr. Z Wang the manager then informed me he didn't know how to cancel the order which I then explained to him I could walk him through the process because I too am a restaurant manager and I've gone through the same situations before. The man refused to listen, he tried finding every excuse in the book and hung up on me not once but THREE times refusing to refund me telling me DoorDash was closed when he clearly wasn't even attempting to contact them but would try to cover it up by selling me a Tiramisu. After spending $45 on food that I was never going to receive and repeatedly being hung up on I decided to go into the restaurant so I could walk Mr. Wang through the cancellation process. When I arrived I walked into the restaurant to hear them all the way from their back kitchen mocking me calling me vulgar names making fun of the entire situation. They were so loud and caught up in their conversation I was able to walk to the front counter, sit down and record their entire conversation start to finish. This is when Mr. Wang comes out and invites his two kitchen staff to be a part of the situation when they have no business being there in the first place. Both kitchen staff continued to call me "bat sh** crazy" and called me a b**ch while I was trying to have a conversation with ONLY the manager. It's unfortunate to have been going to this restaurant with my friends and family for years to now be writing a review that doesn't even deserve 1 star. Please bring back the old owner and his family, they would have never allowed this type of service. The manager working was Mr. Z Wang (or at least that's what he told me his name was) and the 2 staff were a middle aged shorter blonde Caucasian woman and the (I believe) dishwasher who was a younger tall African American man. None were wearing masks or gloves in the kitchen and probably won't be held accountable for any their actions because Mr. Wang clearly doesn't know how to manage and little do they know I pretended to walk out and again was able to record their mockery of me after they went to the back. This is classic Italian. Don't expect a huge menu. The server was amazing. The bread is seasoned well and of course is served with olive oil and spices which is the traditional way. Disappointed there was no red vinegar but... I survived. I ordered beef and gnocchi. It was super good. Huge portions, fresh shaved parmesean. The spaghetti was a huge portion and the meatballs were nice and juicy. If you're looking for authentic, come here. Olive garden can't compare. That's Americanized Italian. This is the real stuff. If you're on a diet, don't come here. This is for serious eaters only. read more

We went to Giuseppes Restaurant because of the star rating on Yelp. We were there To celebrate the 93rd birthday of my mother-in-law. The reviews were very positive for the excellent breadsticks at the restaurant, the friendliness of the staff, and excellence of the food. Upon arrival, we found the staff to be exceedingly friendly and very helpful in assisting my mother-in-law To her seat with her walker. The staff was very efficient and immediately took our orders. We tried the bread sticks that were suggested by the reviewers and they were very good. I asked our server if they made them from scratch at the Restaurant and She informed me that the breadsticks are purchased from Sam's club and that the spices are applied by the chef. Our entrées were OK, a little on the bland side, but in their defense, they arrived quickly and were hot. read more

Fantastic food, service and dessert!!! Hopefully the other negative reviews just caught them on a bad day. We were on the way back from a 25th Anniversary party in southern MN to the NW side of the cities and wanted something we wouldn't/couldn't get in our neighborhood. My self-titled "food-snob" buddy said it is the best meal-out in a couple years for him. He had the Shrimp and Gnocchi and I had the Bolognese and angel hair...they wee awesome. My Mom and I ate here for the first time recently. Like others have said, the bread was amazing (I wish I had some now), and I was also very happy with my Shrimp Piccolino. There was enough food for two whole meals. The waitress was very attentive and the wait time wasn't very long. It isn't fancy looking, but it has character! We ordered Giuseppe's for the very first time. We had heard rave reviews about it and not sure why we never made it over there! Well it did not disappoint! Wow!! Huge portions, devious entrees, tons of bread with incredible dipping sauce and delicious salads! I had the lamb dish and it was tender and so flavorful. My husband had chicken and sausage and he loved it!! My son had the fettuccine Alfredo and he is laying in the couch stuffed and a happy camper! Oh, I forgot to mention the calamari.....yum! Lunched there on Monday. My companion and I shared the sausage and chicken in pink sauce with penne. It was very good and sharing the portion made for a right-size lunch. Not much sausage in it but sufficient chicken breast slices (not overcooked!!) to satisfy. The service was mediocre. There were only two other tables occupied. "Mario" (he looked like SuperMario) seated us but did not give us menus; I got them myself. After setting the menus down and aside to indicate we were ready to order, he looked over at us three times before coming to take our order. We couldn't decide if Mario was working both sides of the house though I thought I heard some kitchen noise when he was in sight. My Coke was in an unopened can and handed to me that way. The "oil" for the bread tasted remarkably like Brianno's vinaigrette though with perhaps a little less vinegar in it. Mario controlled the oil in the dish; it was not on the table. The bread. The bread. The bread. The bread was a disgrace to an Italian restaurant. Mildly crusty, the interior could have passed for Wonder Bread. It was soft and squishy. :-( I weep for sad. read more

We went here based on a recommendation my wife received from someone at work. First off, we tried not to compare this to cafe biaggio which is really one of the only Italian places we go. I love Italian food but find that not many places can really do true Italian. Giuseppe's was definitely an above average place. The food was very good just not great, it seemed to be a little heavy on the salt, from the bread to the calamari app and our meals. I would go back to give it another try though, it is a nice quaint little place, family owned and the owner was nice enough to come around and ask us about our meals. read more

It started with slow to react servers.... Then the Calamari. Rubbery strips of gross frozen nastiness, with the flavor of walk-in freezer permeating its chewy flesh. Even the canned sauce it was swimming in, couldn't mask the flavor of everything else that was stored in the fridge with it. Then, came the entrees.... All I can say is, THANK JEEBUS, there was Pinot Noir! We ordered the Beef Bourguignon and the Spaghetti Bolognese. My fiance's plate was edible, although the meatballs tasted frozen and processed and sauce seemed like Stouffer's. The beef in the Bourguignon was tough and grisly and had the same, sadly familiar flavor of freezer burn that the calamari did. I also had a caesar salad, which was too bitter and yellow for a romaine and no croutons or anything!! It wasn't even tossed! The restaurant was dingy, shabbily decorated and pretty divey. The food sucked but at least the waiters were understanding and took everything off the bill, except of course the wine and spaghetti. THANK. GOD. FOR. THE. WINE. My coworkers order take out from here about once a week. The prices are fairly cheap which is a definite bonus! The portion sizes are pretty large so we can usually split a salad and pasta between 2 people. The order always includes bread and oil to dip it in which is a huge hit here. The staff is friendly and quick to prepare our food, it's always ready when they say it will be. Very good! Refined, rustic Italian with a flare of Greek. Excellent food. The shrimp and scallops are the jam! The fresh Italian bread with their house made oil mixture is so good that they actually sell the bottles of it! Definitely a quaint and cozy place for a date night. I took a group here because I had enjoyed dinner at the Rosemount location before. I walked in to make sure they were ready for us(we had reservations) . I had to go into the kitchen to find someone. I explained (as I had on the phone) that I had senior citizens and we needed to keep the service moving . We had to wait 10 plus min till we even got menus. Which we received because we asked. We were at Giuseppe's for almost an hour before we got our food. We needed to get water, again we had to go into the kitchen to find someone. No staff ever introduced themselves. The place was totally empty except for us. The ceiling has stains. You get a dirty feel when u walk in. Mainly due to sticky floors, sticky tables. My girlfriend and went here for the first time as I was curious and had heard good things from a friend of mine. What I pictured this restaurant to be like was nothing like reality. Some positives but many Negatives. The bread and dipping oil was great, Caesar salad Mediocre at best. I had the sausage ziti with baked mozzarella it was actually really great with the right amount of spice. My Girlfriend had the chicken Alfredo, it was bland chicken tasted pre cooked or frozen it was definitely not cooked to order. Alfredo was flavorless and there was so much sauce the noodles were swimming in it. Wine selection was below average at best, all bottles served there can be found at your local bottle shop for less than $8 a bottle. Service here definitely needs improvement. Servers were not well dressed. Both wore white shirts that were a grey yellow from too much wear, and trashy jewelry ( ours had Mardi Gras beads wrapped down her arm and the other server looked like her necklace was made of candy). That wasn't even close to the biggest issues with their service. Neither server knew how to properly serve a bottle of wine. The bottle we ordered was opened elsewhere , instead of at the table, neither of us was given a short pour to sample the bottle. Salad was served which we shared, however when the server returned to retrieve our empty salad plates she request we take our forks back off the used salad plate instead of just bringing 2 new forks. If the last few details does not make it obvious that the servers were not well trained or experienced, the next mistake she made all servers should know before they even start a career waiting tables...... Our server never ever came back to check on us after we had had some time to sample our meals. Our last contact was her asking if we would like our meals boxed up and she brought the check. I doubt we will be returning. As much as I hate chain restaurants you are better off going there for better service and better food. read more

We met another couple at Giuseppe's in Burnsville for dinner. The food was OK HOWEVER, we were asked to leave after paying the bill because they needed the table for another group. That is in very poor taste and not OK. We spent over a $100 in the 1.5 hours we were there and were asked to leave to make room for new customers. We were never asked if we wanted coffee or dessert after our meal. Instead the waitress said "Sorry, we need this table, but next time you come in let us know and you will have free tiramisu". Decided to try Giuseppe's out after reading the reviews and also I was looking for somewhere new to try out in the area. It's a pretty small place but I thought it was romantic which was what I was going for so thats good. I ordered the cheese ravioli which I thought was delicious. Given the fact that the owner seems to be running the business by himself other then the cooks in the back he did a pretty good job of being timely and attentive to his customers. He sat us right away and welcomed us, took our order, brought drinks and food out and brought boxes and the bill out also. I was impressed! He has some great Italian beers I've never tried (I love trying out new beers) and a wide selection of wine by the glass or bottle. We were hoping to find that hole in the wall place with amazing food. We were disappointed to find our it was just a hole in the wall. My husband ordered seafood fettuccine Alfredo that tasted like a paste of water flower and WIC cheese. No hint of butter no garlic. It was so hot that we suspect it was nuked in the microwave. The entire dish smelled like asparagus pee. He took two bites and decided not to eat it. In the nicest way he could he described to the waitress that it was disgusting. The chef comes out to rectify the situation. Out walks an Asian man. Whatever... he wants to know what was wrong with the food. He explains its not really Alfredo sauce. "That's obvious" exclaims my husband. That was his way of fixing range situation. He walks away with no apologies. The waitress comes backs and says he wants me to charge you for the dish. Are you kidding me dude. She decides to go against him and take it off. I ask if the chef is the owner and she says yes. My husband asks jokingly "his name's not Guiseppe is it? of course it's not! While were waiting for our order I thought I would check out the website and see if there is a owner written story about the place and their history. There was none. I'll write the story myself. This place was founded by a man who's name is not guiseppe who isn't Italian at all, that's obvious by looking at him, who cannot cook Italian food. This is a very casual place where you don't have to hesitate to split a salad and an entree (the portions are large). We added the shrimp scampi appetizer (delicious) which rounded out the house salad and chicken marsala. The bread with oil is a favorite of ours. They run specials too. My family and I love guiseppe's. The service can be a little tricky but the food is delicious. There are very few tables in here so I'm sure the wait staff may get a little eager to turn tables fast, and that may be the reason they seem edgy? The bread with dipping oil is simply addicting. I took my kids here to eat and was delightfully surprised. Modest little restaurant but the food and service were astounding. The bread and oil were the best I've ever had, there were people coming in to order take out bread only. I had the Giuseppe's Special, chicken, shrimp, prosciutto (I added the spicy Italian sausage as well) in a garlic cream sauce, addicting. My kids said it was the best restaurant they've been too, and coming from a picky 6 and 7 year old that is a good sign. It's only been 3 days but I'm ready to head back asap. read more

Off of 42, hidden behind a liquor store, this small hole-in-the -wall has some of the best italian food in the area. Get there early or you will be waiting a while for people to leave. The first thing you get is some delicious bread, just out of the oven, with some herb and garlic spiced oil to dip it in - ask for some shaved parmesan cheese to put in it. The food served is not exotic, but it is delicious - My favorite is the anglel-hair pasta with scampi and a wonderful tomato sauce that has wine in it. Prices are very reasonable - expect to pay less than $25 per person - usually much less, and there is plenty to eat. My wife and I usually split a meal and end up well fed. Also try the lunches - they are just as good and cheaper. A friend at work and I try to have lunch there at least once a week. I can't understand the negative reviews - Of course, I have never encountered the "bad" waitress except one evening when she was really slammed, but trying to help. read more
