Horrible practice. They scam you into accepting cleaning services that are not covered by your insurance. They tell you its the only way to clean you teeth effectively. Given this info on a young healthy adult. They just want you to surrender to accepting the $600.00 laser treatment, which resulted in red, irritating gums afterward. Did not even prescribe an oral rinse to help with the irritation. They are only worried about getting your money. Also suggested Invisalign and wanted upfront total payment of 6,000 to start. Didn't even check to see if any part of this treatment would be covered by insurance. Invisalign was never suggested from previous doctors and didn't see a problem myself , but apparently they did. Do not trust this Dentist group, They are unprofessional and are a money grab business. read more

I have been going to this dental office for quite some time. My recent cleaning appointment was a joke ! The hygienist was the worst !...after refusing an expensive treatment....she did such BS cleaning !...I brush my teeth better myself than the cleaning I got from her. very unpleasant experience with dr. dmitry malayev of gitlin dental group located in new york, who provided inadequate dental care. dr. dmitry malayev tried to place dental crowns on two teeth that did not require dental crowns. dr. dmitry malayev did not have the skill to place onlays, so he was going to place crowns instead. dr. dmitry malayev was willing to destroy a good portion of two healthy teeth unnecessarily by placing crowns instead of onlays. note: dr. dmitry malayev's routine dental exams can be subpar and exceedingly brief. also, all dental documentation is done by the dental hygienist, not dr. dmitry malayev, which complicates the dental claims process. read more

My first few visits were ex rays and cleanings. So I had no issues. I guess they weren't making enough money so they started fabricating these special cleanings. Of course my insurance did not cover this laser treatment. I made an appointment because they told me they received approval from my insurance. Then they tell me I have a $600 copay. I have been a patient for a few years but I feel like they are really out to make money and not care for patients. My dentist retired so I needed to find a new one. The Gitlin office is within walking distance of my house so I figured why not. My first two visits were non-eventful. Then came a root canal two tears ago that cost $5,000 not covered by insurance and I had to pay it off with their credit card. It cracked once and Dr. Ari fixed it. So, this Wednesday things went terribly. I lost a part of a filling and I went in for a regular cleaning and Giselle the technician told me I needed multiple crowns, laser gum treatment, and a deep cleaning totaling over $10,000. The gum treatment was $6,000 alone which she told me my insurance would not cover. Dr. Ginsberg came in for barely 60 seconds to agree with her. I was practically in tears and told her there was no way I could afford this. She was angry and literally put polish on three of my teeth and did not use a water pick or tools to clean any of my other teeth or look at the missing filling, she told me to rinse and to leave. Dr. Ginsberg did not even come into check like a dentist normally does after cleaning. I left and as I was pulling out the receptionist ran out to say I didn't pay. I came back inside and she said I owed $6,000 for the gum treatment. I told her I didn't have it done. She said okay and I left. While she was nice, my treatment inside was horrendous. I don't know if the problem is the employee's unpreparedness to be aligned with the operation of the office or if the office's goal is to deceive the patient. After 3 replaced caps, I came back for a 6-month cleaning. The hygienist asked if I wanted an anesthesia shot. I said no. One minute later, i felt a sharp pain in my gum and asked her what she was doing. She replied "giving me a shot". I jumped out of the chair and told her that I specifically said i DID NOT WANT THE SHOT. She explained that this was a "deep cleaning". I did not want or expect a "deep cleaning." I demanded to speak to the office manager and was told that she was in a meeting and could not be called out. My tongue was getting numb but I still managed to yell at the clerk that I was totally unsatisfied with their service and they were nothing but MONEY GRUBBERS. They used up all of my insurance for the year in February. My wife had the exact same experience. My wife came to Gitlin to replace 2 caps. They told her that a third tooth needed a root canal but she would have to see a specialist for that. They proceeded to do another root canal and replace 2 caps. We later found out that they used up all of her insurance for the year and this was only February. My Visit on Oct. 30, 2024 with Dr. Ari Gitlin and His Dental Group was Very Spiritual for Me. This was My 3rd or 4th Visit for my Completion. I must say this Group was Just so Awesome to me. They were All Very Kind, Knowledgeable, Professional and Very Easy to Work With. The Staff was extremely Courteous and Dr. Ari's Attention to even the Smallest Detail during the Entire Process was just Impeccable! They made Me feel Very Comfortable while in their Presence, for I have always been afraid of going to any Dentist. The Location in Bethpage, NY, was always Cleaned to Perfection, even the Restrooms! The Environment always made me feel Very Spiritual and They always briefed me on the various treatment options, before they performed Them. They use "The Most Modern Dental Equipment and Tools for they have a Lab right there on the Premises, which first attracted my Attention, when I first went to them! This meant that they did not have to send out to another Company to retrieve materials that they may have needed to perform My surgery, which would have taken a longer time to complete. I'm Very Impressed with this "Dental Group" and would Highly recommend them to Anyone. My son was refused treatment to recent his Maryland bridge. They offered me 2 other options that are costly. I requested 2 phone calls to me none which have been returned. My husband went there for a cleaning he was cleaned and then they told him he needed a deep cleaning which costs money and it's not covered by insurance he also said that they needed to have a 4 month visit That is not covered by our insurance. Today I had a very uncomfortable situation at this office. As people in the waiting room had no masks on and some staff as well...no signs in the waiting room as to mask protocol either. When I told the dental hygienist that I was surprised and uncomfortable, she shrugged it off and said it was pretty much the honor system if you were vaccinated or not..... After reading these reviews I'm sad that my former dentist (who has since retired) recommended this place. I've been there 4 times and have yet to see the actual dentist. I always end up with the hackjob hygienist (blonde with an accent). I just needed a new mouth guard and they wouldn't do it until I replaced my bridge. I've had a ton of dental work before but never like this. My teeth that weren't bothering me at all, hurt for 3 weeks after she cut my bridge into a million pieces and ripped it out of my mouth. When I went back for the bridge, she didn't give me any Novocain or anything. Ripped the temporary bridge out, blood everywhere. Tears running down my face from the pain and sensitivity. She went to put the real bridge in and I sarcastically asked if she was going to clean the blood or just put the bridge on top of it. She used a syringe to spray the overly sensitive teeth (that haven't been exposed to air in almost 20 years) with a mouthwash than put the bridge on. I don't understand how someone can be so insensitive. The person who was helping (don't know their actual title) kept apologizing every time the hygienist left the room and offered to give me pain meds and an antibiotic bc they thought there was an infection. I was supposed to get the impression done for the mouth guard after and I told her I'm done and wanted to leave. She took the bib off of me and left the room annoyed. Tools were still across my lap and the tray was in my way. I will not be returning there. Forgot to mention that I waited over an hour to get called in then waited longer in the room. Also, when I walked in someone was yelling at them for doing something that she wasn't ok with and accused them of doing extra things just to bill insurance. I have very specific needs that make getting any kind of dental work done; to overwhelming to get done. A few months ago I went to another dentist who dealt with sedation, who was ripping me off. When I consulted with Gitlin, the whole staff and doctors (of this family business), went as far as possible ensure my treatment was white glove. Face it, no one likes going to the dentist or having large procedures but at Gitlin Dental the entire team works to make you comfortable from the moment you walk in the door. I wanted to love this office it's convenient and clean and the women on the phone was super helpful but that's the only positive things I can say. The cleaning (if you can even call it that) took ten minutes did not even brush my teeth just used a very painful water pick she didn't even sit down just sprayed my teeth and that was that I was so confused. When the Dr came in she wasn't very friendly she stated I needed a crown and that they'd reach out no bedside manner at all. Last week, I went to Gitlin Dental as a new patient for a cleaning and for a consult for a loose bridge. After the cleaning (which was pleasant and pretty gentle), in walks "Dr. Boris ". Who quickly points at the screen and points crown, root canal, post, root canal, post. He explains that the bridge needs to be replaced and the teeth root canalled as a preventative measure to prevent future problem. Sensing this was a "cash grab", i went for a second opinion- and am i glad i did. I walk into the next dentists office and he says "He can tell you need a root canal without taking the bridge off? Because these xrays look great- let me see if i can get this bridge off. Few quick taps, off comes the bridge. Underneath are two totally healthy teeth. He puts a little glue on and the bridge is as good as new. End story is "Dr. Boris" was going to unnecessarily root canal two healthy teeth "just because" when he didn't even attempt to go the cheaper, less profitable alternative. This place is a Russian Chop shop straight out of brooklyn who treats you like a cash cow. Buyer beware and always get a second opinion. Update; I spoke to the office. They said "Every dentist has a different treatment plan and thats why second opinions are always good"- good to know the Gitlin plan is the most expensive, the most profitable, most invasive and destructive. First of all, the service was not adequate. Dentists insisting the most expensive treatment plans and only mentioning other options when asking multiple times. Dentists were rude to members of my family all while the receptionists gossip about patients after leaving the waiting area. Just received a call about me not giving the correct insurance information while I specifically made sure the insurance was approved before entering the office. I even double checked with the receptionist before walking in and the same lady who gave me the okay on my insurance was the lady who just called me saying they didn't have my insurance information. If you need dental work, find another dentist around the area, there are plenty better than this office... read more

My rating for the Bethpage office is really 6 stars to the kind , patient , considerate and gentle ladies who work here , and 4 for the doctors ( thus far ) . I have a lot more work to be done here and this review may well be revised , however , a message came up on my phone asking me to post a review ,. and so I will make a tentative one ........ The office is very clean comfortable , the technology amazing ( never have I seen such detailed dental x-rays ) , and because so many services are offered under one roof you do not have to run around making appointments and visits to multiple facilities . My hygienist , Jenna , was more thorough and detailed in her explanations than any dentist/periodontist , etc. , than I've dealt with before ( amply aided by the fine x-rays projected on a screen in front of my chair ) ; in fact far more thorough in answering questions than a number of physicians I've dealt with over the years . Although the proximate reason for the appointment was to repair a chipped tooth , not only was a cleaning done , but root canal work was immediately begun when it became obvious that the chipped tooth had a deep cavity ..... The endodontist was ready and certainly knew his business : such is the advantage of having so much available under one roof ! ...... Now for the dicey part of the review : My moms having tried to raise me to act like a gentleman , I assume that dental professionals will at least treat their support staff with patience and courtesy , regardless of their expertise : this was not obvious yesterday , but perhaps there were mitigating circumstances unknown to me . Again , I still have much work to be done....... Regardless , this practice gets a well deserved 5 stars , with my sincere appreciation to Amelia , Caroline and all the kind and patient ladies here ! ....... We have been going to Gitlin Dental for several years and have always been happy until now. I really liked Dr. Boris. Things changed a bit since January of this year. We go for regular cleanings twice a year. When I went in January (2023) the Hygienist told me that I needed an injection of an antibiotic (Arestin) for an infection in two sections of my mouth, the injections are not covered by insurance, and that the total cost would be $600.00. I agreed to it, but had buyer's remorse thinking I should have gone to a periodontist before agreeing to the injections. Last week, my wife went for her semiannual cleaning and the hygienist told her she needed these injections all over her mouth and the charge would be $1395.00. My wife agreed to it because it seemed urgent. We did some research these last few days and found that although these injections are legitimate treatment, it seems like we may have been wildly overcharged. We're also a bit disappointed that in our last cleanings just six months earlier an infection was never mentioned to either of us, but on the most recent cleaning we were both to the point of where we needed so many of them for infections. My gut feeling is that we were taken advantage of and may not have needed the injections as badly as we were led to believe, but either way it seems like we were grossly overcharged. We really liked the practice these last few years but don't know if we can trust what they say anymore and certainly can't afford to be taken advantage of any further so we are going to find a new dentist in the area. read more

Wow was this a bad experience. I will admit I am a wuss when it comes to the dentist, however, these "medical professionals" were less than professional. The dental hygienist I would give a 5/10, a little rough around the edges. She said she didn't see a cavity, but then after the dentist came in he informed me I did. When I say inform, I had to ask him on his way out of the room what was going on because nothing was being explained to me. So, I had a cavity. I tried getting it filled but I have such severe anxiety I had to come back. However while I was in the chair trying to overcome said anxiety, the RECEPTIONIST comes into my room, and goes," ha! You're going to be a nurse and you can't get a shot of anesthesia!?" Then walks out. Disgustingly unprofessional. Made me feel awful. Because this dentist has my X-rays, I decided I would see the younger dentist the following week. So, I go in very apprehensively due to the way I was treated, and come to learn my cavity was so superficial and I didn't even need my mouth numb the week prior. Why wasn't this told to me the first time I saw the dentist? Why was I laughed at? Why did I leave feeling treated so poorly? I am a. Yes if student and one of the first things we learn is therapeutic communication/to relieve anxiety, and explain what's being done as it's done. None of this happened at Gitlin Dental. read more

This review is long overdue. I hardly ever leave bad reviews. Please read before going there. I started going here in 2019 and stopped in early 2021. I had received multiple cavity fillings over time that I visited Gitlin. Several of the fillings (about 5-6) fell out within 6 months, each resulting in severe pain. Each time I had to go back for them to fix their work they billed my insurance. The filling work by one of the dentists there (not Ari) was absolutely horrendous work. It was as if he did the fillings with drywall spackle. Never sanded down or polished the composite filling. He literally dabbed it on and dried it with the UV light. He also did not administer the Novocain correctly and drilled into what felt like straight nerves, this happened on multiple occasions. 10/10 pain. A different dentist there had to repair one of the fillings from the dentist just mentioned above, and in the process he cracked my molar tooth. I now live with sharp pain every single day and I am limited to chewing on one side of my mouth until I can afford an extraction and implant. After waiting almost 6 months for my next appointment, I needed yet another one of their composite fillings repaired because it came loose creating a sharp edge in my mouth and a WEEK before my appointment the front desk called and said by insurance is no longer accepted there. Because of this they were unable to repair their work. (They found out 2 months earlier that my insurance wasn't accepted there but told me literally a week before). That same filling later fell out (few weeks later) causing more severe pain as it was a deep filling. I had to go to another dentist to have it repaired properly. The difference in the quality of work was night and day. After going to a different dentist, one of the departing hygienists (with whom I had talked to after she left for another job) from Gitlin had mentioned to me that apparently that the faulty composite fillings are a very common issue at Gitlin. To this day, I am still having to get Gitlin's dental work repaired. The owner Ari Gitlin seemed so nice and I'm shocked that he is okay with the aforementioned dental work and ethics. I should honestly sue them for the amount I am having to pay out of pocket to fix their malpractice. Will be filing multiple complaints with BBB, as well as NYS/DOH. read more

I was just at the Bethpage location and I was treated horribly, by one of the front desk employees. She was the blond lady near the wall walking into your office. The one on the left. I live in the area and wanted to know if you accept my husband's dental insurance. I told her I was deaf and read lips. My mask had that information on it , saying that that I read lips. She didn't even acknowledge my saying, that I read lips. She continued talking, so I repeated myself telling her that I was deaf and read lips. Again, she didn't lower her mask. I guess she was telling me to call the insurance company Sele-Dent and get the information. I asked her, if I would give them the information on your dental office... she just continued pointing at my dental card and speaking with her mask on. I told her about 3-4 times that I couldn't hear or understand what she was saying. She was annoyed and had no intentions to help me understand what she was saying. For someone with a hearing impairment and being deaf, this was such a horrible experience. I basically left your office in tears and angry. I will make sure I leave a negative review on Google and anywhere else I can leave a review. Uncaring people like her, should not be in customer service! I will never EVER use your dental office and will make sure none of my family members or friends will. She needs to learn some peoples' skills. When someone with a disability comes into your office, she can lower her mask to make things easier on someone that is deaf. This was by far, one of my worst experiences in a long time. I just felt that Michael Gitlin, Ari Gitlin and Dmytri Malayev shoud be aware of this situation, as it could happen again to someone else. read more

was looking at reviews for a dentist for my wife with Flexible hours and days. started with Dr Dmitry Malayev in October on Sundays.we are so happy for choosing Dr Dmitry and Staff. not only were they were so accommodating and professional. the work is excellent and all of them are very caring and compassionate. being able to call them at different hours if there is an issue but calling after to check how you are doing. that reminds me of doctors from years ago that you can always get them in case of anything. i am now starting as a patient myself also. keep up the great work everyone. If there was a way to take out a billboard ad to tell the world about Dr. Gitlin and staff, I would make it happen. I want the world to know how amazing this practice is. I had a dental emergency that needed immediate attention. Having new dental insurance I wasn't quite sure where to go. I picked Gitlin Dental Group with the help of my insurance carrier and proximity to my home. I believe it was Jeannie who picked up on the first ring and made me feel as if I had been a patient my whole life. Within hours I was sitting in a chair nervous as can be. The staff took me in like a warm blanket calming me and getting right down to business. Dr. Boris explained the procedure and I secured my root canal appointment for the following day with Natasha. Yesterday Dr. Davidson performed the root canal with such precision and skill. I was so relaxed that he woke me up. Who falls asleep during root canal? This girl! This was with Novocain only! From the first appointment I had back in July, I felt uncomfortable there. I can't place it. I felt as if I was just someone to be made money off of. I was told things that I had never heard of before (I was at a dentist 6 months prior. Not THAT much can change in 6 months). The doctor was yelling across the hallway about his weekend plans. I chuckled, giving him the benefit of the doubt. Then it was my turn though and it was all solidified- that uneasy feeling I had. The appointment was rushed. Dr Ari Gitlin was condescending in his answers when I asked questions. The dental hygienist was very kind and answered all my questions though. Also, the desk staff was kind. Even today when I went to pick up my records for a second opinion the desk staff wasn't nearly as kind as the first time, but they were helpful. I asked them to email my X-rays to the new dentist. When I was reading the email address out loud, the hygienist who was once so helpful, scoffed and said "good luck, you'll be back". I ignored it because I didn't want to get into it. Then I asked "why did you say that?" She replied "I used to work there, you'll see." I said " do you have any specifics before I go there?" She said "We're just better here, you'll see, you'll be back" I said "maybe" This was just the icing on the cake. So unprofessional. Talk about making a patient, whether current or leaving, so unbelievably uncomfortable. I'm a young woman trying to navigate doctors. This exchange is the reason I will never be back to this office. I am but one tiny piece in this puzzle that is Long Island- they probably don't need my business- so that's good because they just lost it. This is simply my personal experience at this doctor. If you have had a better experience, you are very lucky lol. The office is clean and bright, if this is you're only option- go there. I was very skeptical of Dr. Ari Gitlin's cure for sleep apnea, a simple mouthpiece, and I thought the cost was too high, but I figured I'd give it a try. I didn't want the full-blown fighter pilot treatment, and losing weight was not going to help (I'm already fairly thin), but Dr. Gitlin's solution seemed to simple. Consider me a convert. Very rude receptionists and hygienists. Dr. Gitlin is very nice he did some work on my teeth and it was great. Sometimes I don't want to call the office to make an appointment because of the receptionist. read more
