This is my first time writing a Yelp review, and I usually avoid posting negative feedback about businesses. However, my experience at this dental office--specifically with the office manager, Christy--has left me frustrated enough to share my story. To be clear, my dissatisfaction is not with the dentist, whose care I've always trusted, but rather with the way the office handled a $22.11 payment issue. I visited the office for a routine cleaning in October 2024, during which the dentist recommended fillings for two teeth. Although I've been skeptical about the necessity of some past recommendations, I trusted the dentist's expertise and scheduled the procedure. Before the appointment, I requested a pretreatment estimate to understand my out-of-pocket costs. When I reviewed the estimate, I noticed it was classified as an out-of-network claim, even though the office is in-network. I immediately contacted the office, and they assured me they would correct the issue. On December 10, 2024, I had the fillings done. When it came time to pay, the amount presented to me was significantly higher than I expected. After I questioned it, the staff realized they hadn't fixed the out-of-network classification. They recalculated the payment on the spot, and I paid the corrected amount without issue. Weeks later, on December 27, I received a call from the office stating I owed a balance of $22.11 because my insurance deductible hadn't been met for the year. While I felt this should have been accounted for in the pretreatment estimate, I reviewed the claim and confirmed the charge was accurate. I called the office back promptly and expressed my willingness to pay. However, I was uncomfortable providing my credit card information over the phone, given previous bad experiences. I asked about alternative payment methods, such as mailing a check, paying online, or handling it during my next visit. The staff assured me that paying later would be fine. On January 9, 2025, I received another call from Christy, the office manager. Her tone was immediately accusatory, implying I had failed to follow up or take responsibility for the payment. I explained that I had already confirmed the charge with my insurance and had been told it was fine to pay later. When I asked where to send a check, she abruptly ended the call without providing the necessary information, before I even had the chance to ask who the check should be addressed to. Then, on January 16, I received a voicemail from Christy, stating that if I didn't pay the $22.11 by the end of the day, the balance would be sent to collections. I was shocked that such an aggressive approach was being taken for such a small amount, especially when I had already attempted to resolve the issue. Frustrated, I rushed to the office to pay the balance in person. During this visit, I tried to explain my concerns about how the situation had been handled, but Christy dismissed my points, continued to accuse me of not wanting to pay, and spoke to me in an unprofessional and condescending manner. When I pointed out that she hadn't provided clear instructions for mailing a check, she sarcastically responded, "You know where our office is, right?" This level of disrespect was infuriating. In the end, I paid the $22.11 and canceled all future appointments. While I still respect the dentist's care and professionalism, I can no longer remain a patient at this practice due to how I was treated by the office manager. This experience has shown me that even excellent medical care can be overshadowed by poor communication and unprofessional behavior from office staff. Dentists are great. My issue is that they ask you to pay large large amounts up front. They told me I can break it into 5 payments, but each payment was still nearly $450. People are suffering out there, and some can't afford to throw that on nearly maxed out credit cards. May be sadly switching offices for that reason alone. I grind my teeth and have been in a few scuffs in my days so they are fixing me up. Dr Moore is the very best dentist I have ever been to. It's been about 10 years now and I'm never disappointed. I have many dental issues and she always gives me the best advice on how to go forward. I honestly can say that it is because of Dr. Moore that I continue to address my dental health- even the most uncomfortable procedures seem effortless for her. Love. That is a word I've never used in reference to a dentist. I have more "war stories" than most from teeth being extracted when they didn't need to be to being lied to about whether they are a participant in my insurance plan, which, FYI, they weren't. Yet love is the only word that comes to mind when thinking about Dr. Albanese and the amazing staff at Excellence in Dentistry. I don't have insurance and the dentist hurts so much more than just your mouth at that point. I didn't want one of those "reduced rate" plans that only let you go to a handful of dentist but if I'm shelling out the dough I want to get the best I can. Thanks to Yelp, I found this nonpareil practice. THANK YOU YELP!! (as always) I went in for a consultation (free) the same day I called. When I walked in I was greeted by the friendliest strangers I've ever had the pleasure of encountering and they made me feel like I had been a patient for years. The dental hygienist (I can't recall her name but she's awesome) led me to the office to get x-rays done (did I mention those were also free of charge?) and took more care in my comfort than my mom would. Moments later, Dr. Albanese came in and got down to business. He wasn't gimmicky or trying to get me to do cosmetic work. He was actually truly, honestly concerned about my well being. As I returned for my first real appointment today, I was waiting for the ball to drop. As the saying goes, if it seems to good to be true, it probably is. Well there can always be exceptions to the rules and they definitely are. Dr. Albanese is wonderful and after seeing what he can do, exceptional at his craft. If you are in need of a dentist, CALL THEM! The office is pristinely clean, the staff, I can't say this enough, are warm, informative and super friendly, you won't be sitting there for hours waiting, they have late/weekend hours and vanilla chapstick that rivals my yelpstick lol. I cannot stress enough how difficult it is to find a good dentist. Excellence in Dentistry far surpassed my expectations. I had a toothache for about a week before I finally caved and looked up a dentist on here. This site popped up first and although I was a little skeptical about finding a dentist on the internet instead of by word of mouth, I was in too much pain to be too picky. First, the receptionist is very nice and got me the first available appointment. They did not charge me for the initial consult or the two x-rays they had to take of my tooth. Dr. Riccuti was kind, direct, and willing to help me as soon as I had time for an appointment. I ended up having a root canal. They re-arranged appointments to get me in as quickly as possible. Second, the root canal went flawlessly. This was my second root canal. My first experience (with a dentist in CO) was horrifying. This experience has been the polar opposite. Dr. Riccuti worked quickly but thoroughly. The procedure truly was 100% pain free and took about an hour. 48 hours later I am doing great! The night after the procedure I did take one pain pill and iced my cheek a bit but today I only had to take some Aleeve and use a little bit of ice. My gum is a little sore from the novocaine shots and I cannot chew on that side yet but for the most part I have no pain even when chewing on the other side. My only complaint (and this is just being a little picky) is that the parking is kind of weird around the building. So just get to your appointment a little earlier to be sure you can find a spot! read more

I went In this morning for a consult for a broken tooth that hit my nerve and both Dr Moore took my X-rays and gave me my options. Dr Albanese came in to check and he had time in his schedule to take care of me in a half hour. I went in and my mouth was numbed and getting ready for extraction as per my decision. Dr Albanese was extremely diligent in his work removing my tooth and with absolutely no pain or uncomfortable feelings. It was a very easy and pleasant procedure as far as I was concerned. We talked in between pauses and Dr Albanese consistently asked how I was doing while working on me. I totally recommend anyone needing a dentist to look them up and come in. You will not be disappointed. They definately get my five. read more

After losing my dental/medical insurance 2 years ago, I've experienced a lot of painful dental issues. I've also learned that after a lifetime of having excellent insurance that not many offices are friendly to you if you are uninsured. I was so pleasantly surprised by this office- I didn't actually catch the name of the dentist I saw but I've seen a few and he was so, so friendly, kind and informative. Every part of the experience was reasonable- the x-rays didn't hurt, and even though I was there as a free consultation without insurance, the dentist very patiently explained every aspect of my dental needs to me and even ordered more x-rays. The work I need is not inexpensive, but their prices are the most reasonable I've been quoted on Long Island, and I've been to many dentists. The office was clean and quiet, and there was hardly any wait. I would definitely recommend this office for patients who want a decent standard of care and are seeking a kind and friendly regular dentist. I'd like to add too that despite my many dental issues, I was not lectured or made to feel bad by the staff about my very broken molars. The dentist took my lack of insurance into consideration and gave me an honest assessment of which teeth were most pressing to treat. Even just that was a great comfort and amazing contrast to most dental care I have received since I lost my insurance. I am hoping to go back soon to get a much needed root canal. read more

The root canal is now infected under the crown. So thanks for not only trying to coerce me into taking out a loan, but now I need to fix your shotty work because my LYMPH NODES ARE SWOLLEN thanks to you This is what I wrote the first time: yes, they are nice. yes they do good work. but they try to bully you into taking out a credit card loan so that you don't owe them money, but owe a credit card company with a high interest rate instead. and if you don't comply, they submit you to collections within one month. if you have an emergency it is pretty egregious to be forced in your time of absolute need to take out a loan. I mean they don't even offer emergency appointments. I had to wait 3 weeks for an exposed nerve to have a root canal and on top of that i was informed the day before that the 484 i owed would have to be paid that day. so what are my options at that point? either suck it up and put myself in debt or trust the subpar dentists at the emergency room. These people act like they care, but when push comes to shove all you are to them is a bill, not a patient that they care about. they do good work but god forbid you fall on hard times while you depend on their services read more

Fantastic dental office and staff. I first saw their website when I was looking for a dentist online without insurance. I found their free consultation and decided to give them a try. I do not need to reiterate everything, the other 2 ppl said, but the same goes for me. I didn't have insurance and was going to look into getting an online discounted plan. But it was unnecessary as they gave me discounted quotes and only for the things I really needed done. Love this office. Just wish my new insurance was one of the ones they took. This practice has great reviews because after your first visit, they bombard you with requests to write a review. During the first few visits they were very nice and I liked them so much that I wrote a positive review here, which I can now update. Unfortunately, there is no way to update your review on their website. There's a woman at the front desk who is totally nasty. I could go in there in a perfectly good mood and it will be ruined just by one of her dirty looks, I dreaded having to actually speak with her. Every time I had an appointment, she would call me the day before or even the day of, to tell me what my new appointment time would be. They didn't even ask if it was convenient for me, just told me. And if I said I have other appointments and couldn't change, she'd just repeat to me what the new time is, and asked if I'd be there or not in a very rude tone like I was aggravating her by not being able to rearrange my life at her will. What's the point of making an appointment? So, my first visit there was a "free" consultation for a bridge. It will matter later in my review, so I want to mention that I told them that I'd had my routine check up and cleaning just a week ago at another dentist. They made the bridge and it came out absolutely tremendous. It wouldn't even fit in my mouth. Ok, it happens. I wasn't mad because they had it remade by a different lab. The next bridge came back too small and with a snaggel tooth. It was completely out of alignment with my other teeth, and protruding way out of my gum. It looked absolutely ridiculous and my bite is completely off because the teeth on the bridge side of my mouth don't even meet. Dr. Moore tells me it's not a problem because the bridge can be adjusted. We make notes of the changes that need to be made and she tells me to come back in 2 weeks. I thought it was weird that they can add to the teeth and reposition the snaggel tooth, but she tells me very optimistically, "Yup, not a problem at all!!" I go back in 2 weeks and the bridge is exactly the same. I tell her this. She tells me again, not a problem, the changes will be made. Well, we played this game for a long time. I water many of my days going to thuskffuce for nothing. 6 months into this nightmare, it became time again for my next routine exam and cleaning. Since things were going so poorly, I decided to go back to the other dentist for it. Well, my claim ended up being denied because for my "free visit", they actually billed my insurance company for a routine exam. Completely unethical, a farce. They refused to return the money to my insurance company so my dentist who did the real exam could be paid. I had to pay out of my pocket and they didn't care. At one of my appointments for the farce adjustments, the temporary has to be removed and the new one tried in. When Dr. Moore replaced the temporary for me to go home, it was loose. I realized and went right back to the office. They made me wait two whole hours for Dr. Moore to properly cement it in. Well, she told me it was secure enough and refused to re-cement. Two days later it fell out. I called the office and told them I would need the bridge cemented that morning so I could leave for a trip for work. They refused to help me and I had to scramble to find another dentist and I couldn't get it replaced in time to go on my trip, and I lost a lot of pay. They just didn't care. I finally asked for a refund when it became clear they were just playing games with me. They offered that instead, I could see one of the partners of the practice to see if he could correct my bridge, I had no choice. I'm desperate. I saw Dr. Ricutti. He agreed that the bridge was poorly fitting and agreed to make another bridge that fit. Then he also told me I needed another fairly expensive procedure before he could re-do the bridge. I agreed and made another appointment for both procedures. After thinking about it, it didn't make sense that I should need the other procedure. I tried to get him to speak with me about it and he refused. I advised his administrative person that I was going to cancel the unnecessary procedure since he wouldn't help me understand why I really needed it. At that point, he decided to refuse to make a new bridge for me. He refunded my portion of the fee to me, and the other half to my insurance company. I told him that it makes it impossible for me to have a new bridge made somewhere else because the insurance company doesn't allow me to use that money returned to them, they only allow me to be covered again from a current or future calendar year. I've already used my allowance this year and as it was, I waited two years until 2015 to have the allowance available for the bridge. They knew all this and still didn't care. Stay away from this place. They act very nice but it's just passive-aggressive. They truly care nothing about their patients. I'm so glad I remembered to update this review finally. read more

Our whole family have been patients for years. Doctor Albanese is an outstanding Dentist and person. We actually don't mind going to see him because he feels like family. I have been going to 4Excellence in Dentistry for nearly 15 years and have been very happy with the excellent care and maintenance I receive at this office. Dr. Ricciuti has treated me like family and the receptionist staff are both courteous and efficient. Appointments are "on time" with no long waiting and a comfortable waiting area.
