I love this place. Sometimes I forget I'm at the dentist's office because everyone is so friendly and you could chat with them for hours (which I did my first visit, lots of giggles everywhere). I haven't gotten any services done by Dr. Zaffos but the few times I've interacted with him, he's very professional and gives genuine medical advice. I mostly see Dr. Mishel for liners. He's extremely professional as well, listens to any concerns I have and takes time explaining everything so there's no confusion about anything. All the reviews listed for them are really true. The team/assistants/hygienists working with the doctors are so nice. They really make it so easy to talk to them and not just about dental related issues. I'll start by saying this group gives cash discounts for 5 star reviews. If that is not enough to dissuade you from opening your mouths in this office. If that is not enough of a deterrent, after you are sweet-talked the first few visits into writing said 5 star review, your mouth becomes their personal bank account. It's truly frightening. Healthy teeth pulled so they can put in implants. Every tooth "needs" a root canal and crown. After said root canal and crown, the tooth that never had a problem now hurts 24/7. I could go on and on. I'm very dissatisfied with Dr. Zaffos' work. It took Dr. Zaffos 8 months to make me dentures that he promised to make in 2 months. 2 times he made wrong fitting & poor quality dentures. My mouth has been bruised & sore for 8 months. I kept going back to him on a weekly basis because of all the pain I was in from the inadequate dentures that he made & now he's refusing to correct his mistakes & refusing to refund $2000 that I paid him & I'm still in pain. The 1st denture that he made was lopsided & the 2nd denture that his daughter designed was way too big for my mouth so he kept relining it. He grinded it down so many times you can see through one side of it now. I showed it to 3 other dentists & they all agreed that this is substandard work & the denture has to be completely rebuilt. Through no fault of mine, Dr. Zaffos caused me excruciating pain & suffering for 8 months & he is now refusing to correct his mistakes, by remaking proper fitting dentures & he's refusing to refund me $2000. I complained to him in an email. He never addressed my complaint, not in writing, nor in person although I went back to his office for so many more adjustments. Wow. I have been going to this establishment since I was around 10 years old and have never felt as comfortable in other dentist chair. I remember prior to attending Dr. Zaffos establishment, hating the dentist. This changed over time for the better, so much better. I appreciated not only the high quality work as well as "chair" side manner Dr. Z provided but the customer service of his staff. They greet me by name each time I walk in and I always feel like I stepping into a family member's home! If there was ever an emergency they never had an issue squeezing me in and would keep me apprised of how to best tackle my insurance matters. They care through and through. Going on 25 and switching off of my parent's insurance I hope I will be able to continue to work with them. Lordy knows it will be tough to find a comparable replacement. Ok, so I waited for this review. Because 5 star reviews all around? What? Are they giving out $100's for all of these stars? Do the pretty ladies at the front desk parade in burlesque while giving expert massages? There has to be a solid reason why it's consistently 5 stars. I HATE writing long reviews. BUT I actually HATE the dentist more believe it or not. The reason why I write this is BECAUSE of my absolute fear of the dentist. Past experiences have been painful, awkward, uncomfortable, and did I mention painful? Seriously, my mouth is wide open and some dentists yap and yap and yap and expect you to answer back in full sentences... some dentists INSIST that unfortunately a dentist can't always be pain free... other dentists have unnecessary gadgets that aim to impress but only end up being a clunky inconvenience I thought about not writing the review for my own selfish reasons of keeping the Zaffos practice a neighborhood secret. Keep their magic dentist tools a hidden gem... their staff that makes perfect coffee away from the public eye.. the dental assistants that make u feel like you've known them for years all to yourself... *sigh* but then I remember my previous wicked experiences. I can't NOT rave about Zaffos and crew. There are 2 dentists. Dr. Zaffos and Dr. Mishel. Both extremely competent, professional, personable, and knowledgeable. Both have used the dreaded needle on me for numbing and each of them had me wondering if they really gave me a shot of novicaine or are they just wizards who simply whispered "thou shalt feel no pain" to my poor decrepit molar. Amazing. Seriously Amazing. I was in a very tough situation with my tooth. I am extremely sensitive and I tend metabolize anesthetic rather rapidly. I was told I required a root canal and was recommended to a specialist, by my regular dentist (who is also awesome) because of my extreme sensitivity. I looked into the recommended specialist and the reviews were terrible. I understand that everyone has different experiences, but being that I was already terrified, I wanted to go to a place that at a minimum most people who took the time to review the dentist had a positive experience. I AM SO HAPPY THAT I DID. From the moment I walked in the staff was warm and welcoming. The front desk and the dental assistants answered all my questions. They listened to my concerns and made me feel at ease. DR. ZAFFOS is AMAZING. I am actually tearing up now because people can make you feel like you are crazy when you tell them your concerns. He didn't. He assured me I would be fine. After an x-ray and examination he said I did not need a root canal and proceeded to have my tooth digitally measured for a cap. The temp cap was designed and created IN the office! I went home feeling satisfied, happy, and well treated. I look forward to my follow up visit for my permanent cap. Dr. Zaffos is an amazing person and dentist. One of my main problems with my old dentist was that she didn't make me feel comfortable and every filling I got hurt more than it should have. Dr. Zaffos is extremely understanding and easy to talk to. In regards to fillings, I have no complaints- numb injection barely hurts. All the receptionists I've spoken to at the office are beyond wonderful - helpful and polite. They are also good with making sure your insurance fits and sending claims. I think the most remarkable aspect of this office is the flexibility; I once had a nagging tooth and no appointment, but because my brother and mom had appointments they managed to squeeze me in. What a great experience I had at a normally unsettling place, the dentist. First time I came in to the office was on an emergency visit on a Saturday morning. From the moment I walked in I was greeted with an incredibly knowledgeable and courteous staff. Super easy going which set the tone for the rest of the visit. Just had my first appointment here. Awesome office, super friendly and comfortable. They have TVs in all of the examination rooms and everything seems very updated. They explained all aspects of my exam and cleaning and answered questions I had to my satisfaction. Don't get fooled by the amount of stars they get. I called this office one morning when I was in so much pain due to my wisdom teeth. I called ahead of time to see if my insurance was IN NETWORK with them and receptionist Denise said yes and did everything she could to squeeze me in. Before filling out paper work, I ask her if she wanted to make a copy of my insurance and she said no, she was going to take it once I was done. (Mind you, I'm still thinking they take my insurance.) When I'm done filling out the new patient paper work, the other receptionist (who was very sassy by the way), tells me they are out of network with my insurance! Now WHY would Denise tell me to come here if they didn't take my insurance. I was in so much pain and they were even willing to do an X-ray with no charge. I honestly thought it was very unprofessional and all that time spent trying to get to their office, I could have had my wisdom teeth extracted else where. Denise was super helpful don't get me wrong, but the moment I asked if my insurance was in network, she should have said no. I went to found Dr. Zaffos after a horrible experience with another dentist. My previous dentist had filled way too many teeth and, for some reason, I couldn't stop experiencing pain in my mouth. Within my first visit, he fixed what the other dentist couldn't fix in three. I walked out of his office amazed because of how fast he knew what the problem was and fixed it. When he was filing my cavity he took his time and I didn't rush through it. You can tell he knows what he's doing. Honestly teeth are something so important and easy to mess up, you want to go to a good dentist, that's why Dr. Zaffos is always going to be my recommendation. Went in today for a visit because I had a sensitivity thing happening on my tooth last week and went to check it. Dr. Zaffos took X-ray and was 100 percent honest with me. He said there is no immediate danger and nothing damaging and said it needs a filling but doesn't have to be immediate. This office is always so honest and considerate and due to vacation coming up I chose to make an apt for when I return. I'm beyond grateful to have found such an amazing dentist that even after moving to Huntington I still drive to Westbury. I'm a lifetime member for sure!! read more

I have been putting off giving my review of Dr. Zaffos and his office staff purely because I have SO many WONDERFUL things to say, that I fear I won't be able to include them all. I have been going to Dr. Zaffos for almost two years now; recommended by a friend while I was having some severe (and scary) neurological issues in my mouth. I had become frustrated with my previous dentist of 32 years who literally didn't know how to or want to treat my condition. Needless to say, I was scared and skeptical. Well, from the minute I walked in to meet him for the first time w/ my tomes of medical reports and crying in severe pain, he was nothing but patient and gracious. Right off the bat, his assistant Ellie sat me in a chair and started to talk me off the ledge of worry, and try to make me realize that he WOULD be able to help me. When Dr. Zaffos came in, he took the time to listen to me and never made me feel silly to complain of so much tooth pain in multiple teeth. He plotted out a plan to get me out of pain, and I IMMEDIATELY felt at ease; knowing this is where I needed to be. He has helped me tremendously - actually, at the height of my facial/teeth neuralgia, and many a day walking in with tears from the pain - he gave me hope that things would get better. He worked on my teeth sometimes 2-3 times per week and NEVER refused to fit me into his busiest of days. He really is a remarkable human being - having met me during a severe snow storm when the office was closed, as well as meeting me and my husband at 9pm on a Sunday when I was in intolerable pain, to do another emergency root canal. The word "amazing" is the ONLY way I can ever describe him, as well as his staff. I'm sorry I didn't meet him sooner. Adding TO this, not only is his demeanor wonderful, but his skills are top notch. When he's working in your mouth drilling, filling or whatever needs to be done, he's not only quick but he has a gentle touch, and you don't feel like you've had a Dremel or Sawzall tool boring through your skull! He explains everything clearly so you leave knowing you had the best of treatment for your particular condition. His office is super clean and modern, with all the latest tools, computer imagining, big TVs in each room, and ways to make in-office ceramic crowns. His office staff is awesome too - Ann Marie and Debbie who NEVER failed to fit me in on countless occasions. Ellie, Debbie and Janine (who I couldn't have survived most appointments without) - as well as his associate Dr. Mishel - who I now see equally as often. I visited so often, that I got to the point where I consider all the staff my friends, and now have alot of laughs with. I've never experienced anything like this before. I'm SO pleased and SO comfortable that my 22 year old daughter is now going to his office. She has severe anxiety about the dentist and a strong gag reflex. Since she was a little kid, it was a fight to get her to go, but now, no complaints about going to the dentist. Also, a shout out to two of his dental hygienists that I've had the pleasure of knowing - Laura and Diane. Ridiculous skills on those women - no only are they lovely to deal with, but they can clean your whole mouth with the softest of touch and no pain. Super thorough at explaining how to do your home care and suggesting tools to use.
