molto bene! Just a delightful meal at this DC eatery. A couple generations of wonderful food and service. I was looking for simple and I received a meal that was sublime.maybe even "profunda"! Enrico and his team have continued the tradition of hospitality and quality at this small and intimate spot on Jefferson near DuPont circle. You will feel like family eating here and the food, music and setting will certainly deliver. This time I had the asparagus soup, insalata romana and rigatoni salciccia. The sauce was complex and spicy, not like you make at home but just like you want it when you are out for a meal after a long day. All enjoyed with a glass of house Chianti and finished with lemon sorbetto. Bellisima

Not great, not awful. Kind of a cellar-like eating space. Although the owner is Italian the dishes don't keep fidelity with 'true' Italian cuisine. It's a very tired looking place and does not have the friendly, effusive warmth Italians are known for. Not memorable.

I will not take away the food quality. Because it was great flavor, fresh, saucy and portion size was great. However, I left a little unsatisfied because of the service. Me and my partner waited for food for so long. Food came out like 20mins before closing and we were there 1hr 30mins before. Had to keep asking other waiters for water. Then found out they forgot to put our food in because we saw others getting their food before us even though we were there before them. Now, I would return but it was frustrating. This is a place that does reservations. It's pretty narrow, a little loud and small. I recommend doing an early dinner.

Had a lovely dinner at this cozy restaurant. Chose this place for the gluten free pasta and it's location. The service was friendly and helpful. We were there with an elderly couple who had some trouble navigating the entrance steps and thought it was too loud but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I want to get straight to the point. The portion size was too small. It didn't make any sense. I was extremely disappointed and I told them but they pretty much said they couldn't do anything about it. It was lacking Alfredo also. It almost taste like just oil and fettuccine. The chicken was good though. I left disappointed and unsatisfied. 2 1/2 stars for the food and 1/2 a star for the ambiance.

I sure wish I had known about this place sooner! It's a favorite of a couple of my friends and I loved it too. The place is super cute inside and the service is excellent. You get a free bread basket and olive oil. Cocktails were $11, which is a great deal this day and age. I had the house agnolotti topped with cream sauce and mushrooms, and it was so amazing. It was my friend's birthday so we got a complementary tiramisu and it was really fantastic. Also, everyone loved their food, and they even have gluten-free pasta. I highly recommend!.

This place was absolutely delicious. It is a little hidden down a side street in downtown DC, located in a basement area with a very cozy feel and smaller dining area. The food was amazing, some of the best pasta and desserts we have ever had. Our server was great and friendly. Definitely has a more authentic feel to it, highly recommend trying this spot if you want some real Italian in the area!

I really hate to give a 3 star The restaurant is very quaint and cute. There's only 10 tables. Frank and Dean music playing in the background. Very nice comfortable atmosphere. Service was great. Both ladies were friendly, Started with the bruschetta and stuffed eggplant which were both really good. Eggplant was very flavorful stuffed with spinach. Now onto dinners. The spaghetti carbonara was average. Linguini with clams in white wine sauce was good but a bit gritty which was surprising. Could have used a bit more flavor too. Angel hair with garlic and olive oil had no garlic flavor at all ( which wasn't bad but you want a little garlic flavor when that's what you order), Tiramisu was good. Even though I gave it a 3 .... I would like to go back and try again.

She is very personable and seems to take pride in the fish she buys and serves. Before dinner, they present you with two tiny corn muffins. A nice little touch. We had the octopus appetizer that was probably among the best we've ever had. It was cooked perfectly. My friend had the scallops and said they were quite good, but a tad undercooked, and the sauce was delicious. I had the Bronzino and it was delicious served with grilled zucchini. The sauce was excellent. For desert, my friend had the Affogato, which he said was just good not great. I had the Keylime parfait. The Keylime itself was quite good, but the crust was just a little off. (I was hoping for a candle in my dessert to get a birthday wish as I had noted in the reservation it was my birthday dinner, but alas, no candle. No biggie, but that would've been a nice touch.)

Unfortunately, my wife's first experience was the exception. On our last visit together, the service simply didn't deliver and we ended up leaving. After the manager reached out and encouraged us to give Joe's another chance, I convinced my wife to come back. I'm really glad we did. This time we brought our toddler and ordered the oysters, stone crab, king crab, and bone-in ribeye. Everything was excellent. More importantly, the service was back to the Joe's I've known for years. Our server Kimberly was wonderful, attentive, warm, and took great care of us. Ryan the manager also stopped by personally to apologize and make sure we were having a good experience. What made this visit especially satisfying was seeing my wife finally experience the level of hospitality I had been telling her about all these years. She walked away impressed, and so did I. Great seafood, a proper ribeye, and excellent hospitality. Thank you to Kimberly and the management team for turning things around. Looking forward to many more visits. Keep it up, guys!

This past weekend, I finally returned for dinner with a couple of friends after a show at Arena Stage. The restaurant is still stunning. We sat outside to enjoy the Wharf/water views and the summer weather. The food was still great, too. Everything was tasty, but the entrees really blew my mind - beautiful and delicious. We also each had a glass or two of wine, and they have a great wine list. The service was very friendly, but at some point during our early dinner (our reservation was for 5pm), they got busy and our server disappeared a bit as he got busier. Each of these sorts of restaurants has a place in the spectrum. Our waiter - Keith or Kevin - I'm so sorry but I cannot remember his name - was GREAT! Asparagus, calamari, shrimp cocktail, coal roasted oysters, chicken chermoula, and lump crab gratin. Worth every penny. One tip worth sharing, ask for a bit of sea salt for the chicken.
