    Garlic bread sticks.
    Maggie L.

We wanted to do a pizza picnic while fishing and wanted to eat something besides the predictable Domines, Little Caesars or Papa Johns. Boy, am I glad we did! Gio's pizza is great! We got a large pizza topped with green peppers, mushrooms, onion, sausage, and pepperoni. The sauce is not the spicy, heartburn-inducing kind. It's sweet and flavorful. I also noticed the sausage was more flavorful than any other sausage I've had on a pizza. It's almost like it's peppered, but not spicy either. The cheese tastes silky smooth and the crust was chewy! We also had an order of garlic bread sticks. They were the size of canoes. With the little bit of parmesan that was sprinkled on top of these redwood tree bread logs, I was skeptical that there would be any flavor. I figured it would taste like plain bread. They were actually very good! My husband loved them! My toddler love them too! She muscled two of them around the park. One in each hand. She kept tripping and they were falling in the dirt and duck poop, so she was grabbing a couple more every 5 minutes. Luckily there was tons to go around. The ducks sure loved the grounded breadsticks. Lucky ducks. They were big, but from top to bottom and end to end, they were light, fluffy and tasty!! We're in the area quite a bit hanging the park, doing some fishing, and I think we will make this our go-to pizza place when we're up there. I highly recommend Gio's. Get off the corporate pizza train and try it!

There were no other customers in the store when I came in. The staff was friendly. I ordered two calzones and the bread sticks. My order was ready in about 15 minutes since I did not call ahead. I got a vegetable calzone without onions but the black olives tasted like they were rancid. My husband ordered the meat calzone which he said was ok, but he disliked the tomato based dipping sauce. The breadsticks had good flavor and we got a huge portion for the price but no dipping sauce came with them. The bad thing was the breadsticks were loaded up with too much greasy butter which soaked through the box before I could get them home. I could not eat more than one stick due to the excessive greasy butter. I probably can say I tried it, but likely won't be back any time soon.

The wife stopped into Gio's and picked us up some dinner. She opted for a couple calzones and an order of Parmesan breadsticks. She got a vegi calzone and I got the exact opposite, a meat lovers, both came with a tomato based dipping sauce The calzones were sizable with plenty of decent quality fillings. The flavor of the calzones was pretty good, the crust had great flavor and was cooked perfectly but I was not impressed with the sauce. The sauce had a very strong herbal flavor and was a bit too sweet for my liking. The order of breadsticks was huge considering it is only $3. The breadsticks were substantial in size and the dough had a great flavor, however, they were drown in a oil/butter sauce that overpowered them (check out the box in the photo to see what I mean). The wife and I each ate one breadstick and couldn't bring ourselves to eat more. The bang for the buck is awesome, a couple tweaks on the sauce and less oil/butter on the sticks and this would have been a 4 star review.

It's average, however my expectations for pizza in Utah aren't very high due to the lack of quality across the state.

Your dinner includes a small salad, it was delicious and I used their house Italian dressing which was really tangy and yummy. My favorite thing though were their rolls. I swear I could just eaten about 12 of those! They bring you oil and vinegar for dipping and it was hard to not just drink it with every bite of those delicious rolls. In fact I'm going to call their Salt Lake Location and ask if they sell them separately. They were that good. It's a nice change of pace from the usual Italian restaurants so check them out and get extra rolls!

They chopped up the chicken underneath and slather it and tasteless, sweet sauce. They use no spice whatsoever. Everything was tasteless . And they give you a dinner roll and a so called Italian restaurant? So disappointing. Let's talk about the dessert that the owner is so proud his daughter makes at home. The cake was so dry. It only looked appealing, but the taste was not. I left the owner know we had a reservation and he didn't care and he popped his head up and looked over the room and pointed out a table and said oh there's one. Didn't walk us to the table we set ourselves. He finally shows up with menus and his little tablet to show us a picture of the daily special, and then told us a dumb joke and elaborate on the great wine, which was horrible. Please don't come to this place unless you like to play Russian roulette. Place was full, don't know why. They certainly don't know Italian food and the menu is very limited.

I took my wife to Bartolo's on a date, and we enjoyed every aspect. Quick, thoughtful service, and they checked on us regularly. Lots of natural light on the North side of the restaurant where they have glass doors that open up to the outside (they were closed because it was a cold day but make for a pleasant atmosphere). The food was excellent. We ordered the house focaccia and calamari to start. Both were incredible. My wife had the lasagna, and I had the spicy crab campanelle (at the recommendation of our server). The homemade pasta is melt-in-your-mouth good. In terms of cost, it is about what I'd expect from a nice dinner out with my wife. My new favorite restaurant. We will definitely be back.

Everything comes out fairly quick for all being house-made from scratch. The meals are flavorful and great. There isn't anything on this menu that stands out, everything seems pretty standard for a nice Italian place. Our bread and salad starter were great and we cleared those quick ! I chose the chicken parmigiana and found the marinara sauce to be a bit watery/bland in taste. My chicken was a bit dry so perhaps a bit overcooked. The alfredo that came with it was DELICIOUS, perfectly creamy. However...can I justify $30 for the plate ? No. My boyfriend's spicy sausage a la vodka pasta was delicious but again, the red sauce was lack luster for me. It's almost like it was lacking tomato paste and garlic ? The potato side was delicious and surprisingly large for the price ! The aioli that came with it was great in flavor as well. We finished our meal with a creme brulee. It was perfectly torched and the creme itself was delicious and perfectly chilled. The strawberry was a bit sour for my liking, especially for coming with an expensive dessert. But this dessert was one of my highlights of the meal. Although a nice once-off meal, I find Bartolo's to be pretty overpriced, even for delicious italian dishes. I have had ruth's chris meals for this price and understood why it was priced the way it was.

La Ferrovia Authentic Italian Restaurant is back!…read more After Giuseppina and Jeff retired--well deserved after years of hard work and dedication--the restaurant has entered a new chapter. Their passion was always evident in the food they served, and the new owners are learning how to honor the Southern Italian cuisine that Giuseppina knew so well. We have been there twice with my granddaughter, and it did not disappoint. The penne with white sauce was superb, as was the salad with the house dressing, the fresh bread, and the delicious tomato sauce served on the side. But what stood out most was the atmosphere and the genuine desire to make guests feel comfortable, giving them time to enjoy their meal and conversation the way Italians do. The owner was incredibly kind and even came to our table to make sure everything was okay. Neapolitan cuisine is simple, fresh, and flavorful--it doesn't rely on heavy spices but instead allows quality ingredients to shine. If you're expecting lots of spices, you may be confusing Italian cuisine with another style of cooking. I also appreciate that the owners are open to suggestions when those suggestions respect the cuisine and are offered constructively rather than as criticism, as I've noticed in some reviews. Be kind, and take a moment to learn about authentic Neapolitan cuisine before judging it. It is a beautiful culinary tradition rooted in simplicity, family, and flavor. Welcome back, La Ferrovia!

Our dinner partners had a salad and chicken parm with pasta, and neither of them put more than a few forkfuls away before asking for boxes. The noise level was insane, making it extremely hard to even hear the wait person.
