Our first time ordering pizza, delivery, from Salt City and it will be our last. We ordered a plain cheese pizza and a pepperoni lovers pizza (supposedly triple pepperoni), the only reason I rated it a 2 was because the dough was ok. They're stingy with the bland red sauce, the cheese has no flavor, and the "triple pepperoni" was, in my opinion, single pepperoni. We have lived in Layton for nearly 10 years and have never met anyone who has ever mentioned Salt City Pizza which should have been a clue. Their pizza has potential, they could add seasoning to their sauce and add more to their pies and be more generous with their toppings and use better quality ingredients. We have eaten pizza in 49 states and a number of overseas locations, including Italy, and have only eaten one at a restaurant in Tennessee near Vanderbilt University that rated lower than this. Sadly, the Chef Boyardee pizza kit in a box was better than both. read more

Tucked away off Main St in Layton. It's a small place, but MAN... their crust is fire. You can put whatever the heck you want on it and it will taste good. As I am writing this review, it is the second time that I've ordered food from here. The first time, they couldn't find my apartment that is less than 3 minutes driving distance. They didn't bother to call to let us know and we called them after an hour and 45 minutes only to be told that they couldn't find the apartment. I decided to cancel my order, and they offered the food on the house. They never showed up, but offered a credit for the food. We decided to give them another chance two days later and the same thing happened! After almost 2 hours, the delivery guy arrived and the food was cold, of course. And wasn't tasty either, to boot. Update.. The owners are so MEGA cool! I once ordered some BREADSTICKS to take to a work potluck in ogden and rushed to pick them up. Well, I found i had forgotten my credit card. These kind people allowed me to just take the food and call them that night with my credit card number. With my addled brain i forgot to call so when they called ME i was so embarrassed, i apologized profusely and they were very kind and understanding. I really wanted to like this place but it just isn't good. There is absolutely no flavor to their food. The sauce is bland and the texture of the dough was not great. There was no classic pizza flavors like garlic or oregano. It reminded me of school lunch pizza, not overtly offensive but definitely not good. read more

Honestly I was disappointed with Salt City Pizza Co. I recently moved to Layton and was hoping this place would be the one; the place I would go for when craving a pizza. It just didn't happen though. Maybe if you're looking for a less greasy pizza than most this will be good pizza to you, but when I want pizza this just isn't what I'm looking for. Breadsticks are great. The pizza is not that good in my opinion it is similar to papa johns. Which I think has to much bread and not enough toppings. At least papa johns gives you dipping sauce for all the left over crust. If they had a thin crust this review might be different. read more

Great hole in the wall pizza in Layton. Thick crust on the pizzas and excellent breadsticks, including the pepperoni stuffed ones. Salads are fresh, wings are cooked perfect (not soggy like other places) and the ranch is excellent as a dip and dressing. Tasty tucked away pizza joint, but WAY too pricey for its own good. There are unique flavor combos and a great menu, but I'm pretty sure this place would do better with the hipsters in the avenues than with families in Layton. We found a coupon for this place in a local ad and decided to give it a shot... wish we hadn't! After a crazy day we decided to order pizza because it's fast and tasty. This pizza turned out to be neither. I called at 6:15 to place my order, the guy on the phone was very nice, and placing the order was easy, he said it would be delivered in about 45 minutes... an hour and 10 minutes later there's still no pizza so I call back. Another guy answers and is also very nice, telling me their driver is a little behind but is on her way and will be here soon. Another 35 minutes goes by before she gets here. An hour and 45 minutes. For a pizza! We're just hungry by then so we graciously accept the pizza and her apology for being late... we dig in and of course it's cold, the cheese is congealed and the crust is tough, the breadsticks are chewy and it's worse than $5 crap drive through little ceasars pizza... I wish I had something nice to say other than the employees are so nice, but that's literally the only nice comment I can make. I will never order from this place again! read more

For the uninitiated the timing issue for this pizza joint would certainly prove frustrating. The first few times I showed up for pizza at their stated time, I marveled at how consistently they underestimated their pickup times. Consistency is the key term though. As now regular customers, we have developed an intuition for adding the right amount of time to their estimates based on days of the week and weather conditions. I have seen impatient customers pace and storm out, but through it all the staff remains polite and helpful. Full marks for customer service in the face of adversity. As for the food, their crust style is closer to The Pie in SLC (very bready) than Este in SLC (thinner New York style crust). As a New York transplant, I prefer the latter but have learned to find charm in the heavier crust while I continue to find the taste of home in Davis County, Utah.
