She would stand outside the doorway and motion to the Hello Kitty hoodie or whatever else had caught her eye while walking through the mall. Sigh! How times have changed! Much to my chagrin, she is now to the point where she openly admires the salesperson's piercings (because I am the evil sort of parent who won't even let her get her ear cartilage pierced). I do love this store. Unfortunately, since I work as an accountant, I don't have a lot of opportunity to wear the types of things they sell here. They have some great humor T-shirts and band T-shirts. They tend to be a little on the cutting edge when it comes to licensed products (how many places have Invader Zim and Aqua Teen Hunger Force backpacks?). This is a great place to find something for that hard-to-buy-for teen or preteen on your list (many of their shirts are available in Youth Medium and Youth Large). All you need is someone to tell you what his or her favorite cult TV show is or what bands are on their IPod. While you're there, you might find a little something for yourself. Just do what I do, and ignore your your teens when they start whining, "Mom, just stop trying to be cool, because you're not!!"

This store recently opened in November and I love that it's still a great homage to skating. The apparel is plentiful and fresh, and the shoes are fabulous! They possss a ton of classic styles for everyone, toddlers and kids included! Sales were prevalent, and I will gladly take 33% off a sweet pair of Vans, thank you very much. The store associates made the experience that much better as they were sure to greet and assist as needed. I'm so happy that Vans made it to Oak Brook, and I will continue to patronize them.
