I have been going to Giorgiana's since it opened and I too was very excited that we had a convenience store right up the street. But I was thoroughly disappointed this evening when the owner's husband who is behind the counter taking money most nights decided to give me such grief that I walked out and would never return. I went in to ask for 6 flour tortillas. The girls who make the sandwiches and work the grill said they didn't have them but could sell me some behind the counter. During this time, the owner was outside. When he saw that she had given me the tortillas he scolded her for selling them to me and tried to charge me $6.00 for 6 tortillas to which he exclaimed was a "reasonable" price. I said that I didn't think that was reasonable so he tried to charge me for the other items I had and I was just so shocked that I didn't want to buy anything. He told me that he would talk to his wife about the price and if $6 wasn't reasonable I could come back tomorrow for a refund. Talk about customer service and inconveniencing the customer. Yes it is great for convenience but the management needs to work on its attitude before I would ever give this mom and pop location my business again read more

I was just eating a nice big Greek salad from here. It came with a stuffed grape leaf and everything. It also came with... A NASTY ASS BUG. Stuck to the underside of a piece of romaine. It's like, a centimeter long, with wings and legs and bugness. It doesn't seem Greek in origin, SO WHY IS IT IN MY SALAD? Not eating here again. Very sad because everything else from here is usually really good. Boo. read more

FINALLY CLOSE LIQUOR STORE! Okay, okay. The beer's a bit overpriced, but in a pinch, it's close! The deli stuff looks good, and the baklava I got on a whim after dinner at Toro was straight up awesome. (but then, I love baklava of all kinds). Basically, check it out. They have some interesting stuff, for sure. read more

Cute cute cute! Sort of epitomizes the South End for me. Surprisingly plentiful supply of wine downstairs, with an assortment of freshly made deli foods & general convenience store goods on the street level part. Intimate, cozy, neighborhoody - they even have a cat roaming the store! Prime location right across from the Cyclorama/Mills Gallery. If i lived in the area, I'm sure I'd be a regular. read more

I'm half greek, so I would mostly come here for greek specialties from the hot deli case or for my favorite Greek cookies, Kourabiedes and Melomakarona. They make good lunch and breakfast sandwiches as well, and tasty meatballs. Staff was always very friendly and prices are reasonable. read more

I miss living close to this place. The staff is friendly and they have a great variety of items in the deli case. They also have freshly prepared hot food items for those days when you really just do not want to cook dinner for yourself. The variety is also great here. You can get everything from the basics to more specialty items. They also keep everything so clean, which is not the most common trait in a lot of the smaller stores. Take some time and explore this place, it is worth the trip if you are in the area. I am a fan. read more

Got lunch here the day after the Boxing Day Blizzard of 2010 (at least that's what I'm calling it). I ordered the lamb gyro sandwich and the chicken lemon soup. Total came to $12 and change. A skosh pricier than one would expect from a deli, but the food was worth it. They take their gyro seriously here. The lamb in the gyro were real slices of rosemary roasted lamb (as opposed to the seasoned industrial lamb one usually gets in a gyro). The vegetables in the gyro were fresh and crisp, and even the pita bread was grilled. The soup was full of meaty pieces of dark meat chicken and rice, and had a nice lemony zing. Service was speedy. Oh, they sell beer and wine downstairs and have a nice assortment of grocery items. read more

The chocolate chunk cookie is out of this world!! Also, a great liquor store and place to get any items you forgot at the grocery store (or you are just too lazy to walk to the grocery)! read more

I have yet to have a last minute crisis/craving that Giorgiana's hasn't solved. They have fresh produce, prepared foods, a great deli and a comprehensive array of nibblies to go with the selection of wine and beers downstairs. Great! read more

Worked in the area for years, and was always nice to get a fresh sub made or grab something to take home. Prices are higher than normal but as far as food is concerned its fresh and tasty, and a one stop shop in the area for anything you might need on the go. read more

A tiny little bit of the good life disguised as a south end convenience store. High quality stuff without the pretense. Great fresh homemade sandwiches and dinners. Great (rapidly expanding) wine selection, including some very cool off-the-beaten-path options. George and Anna are the best. It's very cool to see someone take their business so seriously. read more

Obsessed! Everything about the sandwiches here are amazing! Get the Obama Specialty Sandwich on French bread. You can split it with another person, my boyfriend and I share one. That half will fill you up in the best way possible! It's simply amazing! read more

Truly the most delicious chicken pita I've ever had, and to top it off, they sell champagne sorbet. Yes, sorbet MADE OF CHAMPAGNE. Their sandwiches and salads always make for two lunches, not just one, and they have a better than average wine selection in the basement. An awesome place to have around the corner from your office... read more

Outstanding breakfast food. Also this is my go to place for delicious chili and other premade comfort foods. And the people who work there are very friendly. read more

Stopped in tonight to pick up a quick salad for take out. 10 quick minutes later i left with a Greek salad and it was amazing. Chock full of tomatoes, cucumbers, and lots of other fresh vegetables. A big generous portion of chicken too. The staff was super x10 courteous and the George (Owner i think) was expecially gratious. He shook my hand twice :). I highly recommend this spot for some neighborhood eats! read more

Subs are so good! Food seems fresh made daily. Only place around to get a great meal and have a wine cellar downstairs.

We grabbed a lite meal here after a matinee across the street. Very good service. Sandwich was enough for two. Owner was very cordial.

I attend school (BFIT) on the corner of Tremont & Berkeley. I religiously go to Giorgiana's. Ana, the owner, is always in the store. Her staff is amazing, nice, polite & the food is terrific. Everything is always fresh. I recomend the breakfast sandwiches and subs if you're on a budget. The portions are satisfying & you will not be disappointed. The place itself is extremely clean & you can tell the owners care about their shop. I've lived in Boston for 2 years and this is hands down, best deli/ breakfast spot around. read more

Love this place. Great people, great homemade dinners. Will make any sandwich/wrap you want. Always my go to for a breakfast burrito on a hungover Sunday read more

ALAS!!!!! Finally, an answer to our shopping needs! We South Enders have waited waaaaay too long for a place like Giorgiana's to open! The sandwiches are addictive! The mediterranean food -- grape leaves, tzaziki, mousaka, etc.-- authentic because it's made right there on from scratch! This is truly like being in Europe...right in the heart of the South End....the owners George and Ana (husband and wife) are the sweetest....I love this family run business! Clean, clean, clean, wholesome, well-selected food! Thank God it's here! Boston Market needed a replacement. read more

This place is a neighborhood treasure; take with a grain of salt all of the various reviews from out of towners walking in expecting a five star sit-down dining experience. They have fantastic sandwiches and hot ready-to-go meals and salads at a reasonable price. As a bonus, they have a great selection of European and Greek chocolate as well as fresh baked goods - what more could you ask for? Make sure to say hello to Daniel at the deli - he's one of the nicest and hardest working guys in the City. read more

This place is a gem. Best lamb gyro I've had in a long time. So good. Very good spinach filo as well, packed with spinach. Thanks for telling me about this place, yelp! read more

standard delicatessen, wines, groceries in this tremont corner with seatiing facing the street/theater. good for a quick pick-me-up and no frills deli food. the half sandwich+soup is pretty satisfying and affordable. soup was good...wonder if it's home-made. read more

AWFUL!! Do not be swayed by the trendy look of this place! I have personally seen bread deliveries stacked up on the tenants stair case which adjoins the store. The building, this shop is located in, is infested with mice. The owners are rude and generally despise all locals in the area. The "wine cellar" is not handicap accessible. I would never go to this store again, nor would I suggest anyone live in the apartments located above. read more

There's a lot of great stuff at Giorgiana's, and I can accept the fact that most of it is overpriced. That's par for the course with this type of convenient-but-above-average urban market. What really turns me off is that so many items are not marked with prices, and the proprieters NEVER give you an itemized receipt unless you ask for one. So, if you charge your items, they give you a charge slip. If you pay cash, they give you nothing. Either way, you can't see how much you paid for your groceries unless you specifically request an itemized receipt, and they typically act offended when you do. Call me crazy, but if I'm going to pay double the price that Shaw's would charge me for a particular item, I at least want to know that I'm doing it! read more

The couple that own the place are really nice. They have a good, albeit, slightly expensive selection of beer/wine and liquor. Same goes for non perishables. It's great to have this place around. My only concerns are with the freshness of the food. Have had some bad experiences with some of the fresh food they serve. I know it is hard to throw away food as a business owner but there were a few times when i got some sketchy food. This includes the produce, but at least that is visible. I end up now just avoiding that type of food here. Otherwise market is A-OK read more

I stop here frequently on my walk home from work when I don't have food in the house--the deli is great. The beef stew is awesome, and the chili is good, too. You can grab some groceries, too. The wine selection downstairs is good. Very limited beer selection. Friendly people. read more

I have lived in the south end for many years, however, walked into Giorgiana's for the first time (and last time!). At my first glance, I thought "wow, wine downstairs, I"ll definitely come here again". Well, until the owner put a REAL bad taste in my mouth! Bad customer relations, spoiled my experience at this place. I bought a large water and asked him for couple of plastic cups so the kids could share the big bottle. The owner said that he has to charge me. I thought he was kidding at first. He tacks on .75 cents for couple of plastic cups and unprompted begins complaining to me about how he has to pay for supplies, it is not free, supplies cost him so much money and on and on he went. Dude if you are going to charge me for some plastic cups, just shut up and do it. Your customers don't need to feel all the negative energy you have to offer. He then asked me if I want a plastic bag. I told him "no thank you, I do not want to pay for a plastic bag". I will go out of my way to avoid this place, bad energy flowing around this place and real bad customer relations. read more
