Was hungry when I landed at O'hare and was staying nearby, so after a quick Yelp Giodornos came up decided to make a quick stop from the airport (about 7 minutes). I have tried Chicago style deep dish pizza a couple times and couldn't remember if I liked it. Yelp said it takes a while (45 min) to make so I ordered when I arrived, stepped outside and took a call, and it was ready when I finished. Ordered the small original deep dish, ate a couple slices, was full and took it to the hotel. I refrigerated it overnight and had 8p flight home so put it in my work bag. Just finished eating the rest with my wife about 48 hours later and it was almost better than the fresh. This pie is all real ingredients and travels well. I noticed my server was in training with another server and her trainer was doing a good job and taking it seriously. Seems to be a well managed restaurant. This location is near O'Hare in Rosemont and has big parking lot and plenty of tables. While there a couple big school groups can in and out. Impressive how efficient they fed all those kids. This Giordano's (on Higgins in Rosemont), was welcoming and extremely friendly, with great service and food, even though they were crowded, it was a good, vibrant busy and with very few tables open. We had a very nice meal here. We got three different lunch specials, which allowed us to try the cheese, pepperoni, and sausage, mini deep dish pizzas. I think the best one was the sausage I certainly enjoyed the pizza. I did feel there was a bit too much crust and hardly any sauce. I think there is the right amount of cheese, but perhaps because it was the small personal size it wasn't quite the same as a regular size pan of pizza would have been. I hadn't had this after a long time and thought I'd give it a shot. It's as meh as I remember haha. It was good with the additional ingredients but it can be a lot - especially half way through when the cheese is no longer warm. It's a good option for visitors with short layovers near the airport that want to try it so it can make sense sometimes. The service is quick and friendly. Just make sure you order ahead if you're in a time crunch! Otherwise you can definitely pass on this and choose regular pizza instead :) read more

My pizza arrived about 5:55pm and I honestly think it was forgotten as the crust was just cardboard gross and almost burnt tasting, weird cause it was cold too. The flavor was delicious and the sauce had a little bit of sweetness to it (which I enjoyed). I thought the pan would be more bread but it was more cheese. The staff were so patient while our group for settled and decided what all we should do for dinner which I appreciate. So when my coworkers and I went, I ordered the Italian Beef Sandwich on their lunch special menu. I'm a sucker for a good Italian Beef and theirs did not disappoint. It comes with your choice of fries or a salad, I chose the garden salad with the house dressing, which is a lemon vinaigrette. Inside is decorated well, this location comes off as a newer location. Layover pie! (Caveats)From Illinois, love deep dish pizza, and it's somewhat nostalgic for me. This Gio's caters to large groups, events, and has pizza's togo if you want to take a frozen one on the plane home. Gio's is not the best deep dish pie in the Chicago land area. It does have the most locations and mostly convenient. Especially this one if you're staying near the airport. My three things: 1) Crust is flakey like grandma's pie. 2) Gio's is a well oiled machine. Call ahead if you want to get your pie going. They do carrot and delivery at most locations. 3) You won't worry about not getting enough toppings. However you will pay for them. It's good this 3 stars. For me I like a chunkier sauce/gravy (little roasted on top, and some more flavor to the crust (butter, garlic, olive oil). That gets 4 stars then another star if the location was unique like Pizza Uno/Duo downtown. read more

My love letter to Chicago pizza. Not really but a little. I landed in Chicago in 1984 from China and lived down town. There is only one Pizza, Gino's East. I have since moved to California, but I spent a lot of time defending Chicago pizza over NY Pizza, the paper thin flat bread they call California pizza, and the square Detroit pizza. Well here I am, betraying my true love Gino's East, because this place is 0.8 miles from the hotel and I am starving. Let's start by saying this is a Rosemond franchise, I have never been to the mothership. This is definitely a rough around the edges place. It is packed on a Tuesday for lunch. I ordered the special, sausage with assorted vegetables. I was told it's 45 min wait but I have chance to drink some beer, why not? The "small" pizza came. I have to tell you it's enough to feed 3 adults. Being a pig I ate 3/4 of it on my own. Does it mean I like it? Of course. The sausage is packed full of amazing flavor. High quality cheese to go along. Highly recommended. How does it compare to my true love? My true love is heavy and thiiic, it weighed a ton, on a dens cornmeal crust. This is my first time in Chicago and I'm glad I chose to eat here first. The servers are so awesome and nice about everything and make you laugh especially. The place itself is huge and has a bar in the front. If you're going to order a deep dish pizza keep in mind that it takes about 45 minutes to make so don't come hangry and I promise that cheese pull is worth every minute of the wait time.
