I got take out from Giordano's Pizza and I I think I just like thin style pizza better. Don't get me wrong. It was still amazing and super filling but I thought it lacked a lot of meat and too much dough. I could barely taste the sausage in the pizza but I like that it was stuffed with veggies. The tomato sauce was also piled on thick which is probably the one thing I love the most about deep dish, I loved the crispy and thick crust which I think is a 10/10. I understand the hype around deep dish pizza and it was good but I wouldn't go back. If you're looking for a genuine deep dish- no hassle- this is the place to go! Especially as a tourist, it was nice to have somewhere that seemed reliable. We got a deep dish, a salad, and the sampler appetizer. Everything was delicious! The only thing I could complain about was that it does take quite awhile for them to cook the pizza, it was about 45 minutes. So if you're going to order out or ordering in, you need to plan ahead. We arrived at O'Hara airport and decided to try the famous Chicago's deep dish pizza. We found Giordano's in Yelp and decided to try it as it was also near the airport. Even at 2pm, the place was crowded, the servers were good & got us a table within 15 minutes. We learnt that the deep dish pizza has a wait time of 45 minutes. We decided to order some food first, we had the Italian beef sandwich, it was piled with slices of beef that comes with au jus. It was yummy, beef has a great flavour to it. When the deep dish pizza arrived, the server was kind enough to serve us the pizza. There's a certain way of serving the deep dish pizza. That pizza was not for the faint of heart. We ordered chicken sausage with mushrooms & spinach, the pizza was good, it was so rich that I can only manage a slice. Overall a very good experience of Chicago's deep dish pizza with Giordano's. This felt very mediocre. It was pricey for one thing. Each in our group got alcohol, an app, and a personal pizza. I don't think anyone enjoyed it. We may be more used to a NY style but this pizza seemed dry, the sauce was salty and the meat was greasy. It was smaller than expected to. No one had anything positive to mention except we did enjoy our salad and mozzarella triangles which is the only reason this is 2 instead of 1 star. The soda was flat too. The server was nice and knowledgeable. The place is LOUD and a few tables over some sort of repeated flash photography was going off which was distracting. The Ugly...The bartender Tommy was a complete A-HOLE. He made up bs excuses blaming the kitchen staff for not bringing my take-out order in a timely manner. The one difference I noticed between out of state deep dish and Giordano's is just how much thicker it is in Chicago. It's heavy, but not rich, so I was able to do some real damage eating 3/4 of a medium. Between my wife and I we had some left overs. They don't have blue cheese, so being a former buffalo New York resident I found this hilarious. However, our waiter was amazing and put blue cheese crumbles in ranch which actually made for a really good house made blue. Overall I really liked the deep dish experience here. It's good.
