We had ordered from the Richfield Giordano's tonight for dinner and our food was terrible. The pizza was completely burnt, the ingredients definitely did not taste fresh at all and the dough was very hard to even chew. We've ordered from here before and it's been great. Tonight I got there 5 minutes before the scheduled 8:30pm pick up time and the pizza was already done, which we found suspicious. When we got to our family's house only 4 minutes from the Giordano's we opened the pie, that's when we saw that it was burnt and overcooked. We still gave it a try, and it was horrible comparing it the the pie we'd gotten from that same location less than a week earlier. We even took a picture of it because we couldn't believe that they'd let this pie leave the restaurant. It seemed like the workers just wanted to leave since it was Memorial day, but why ruin our dinner? We ended up throwing over half of the $30+ Large pizza we'd gotten in the trash. I ordered ahead, but again experienced a 15 minute wait....why bother ordering ahead? The hostess is more like the unhostess....not cordial at all, and the place was nearly empty, probably didn't like the fact I mentioned the dirty windows. I could go on, but why bother. Just spent $50 on the worst pizza and salad I've probably ever had! I ordered the extra thin crust margarita pizza. It was like dumping a can of tasteless crushed tomatoes on a frozen cardboard crust. Cheese and basil were almost nonexistent and had no flavor. It's a nice reworking of an old Baker's Square. We had a good server, decent Arnie Palmer's and a nice Greek salad, though I do prefer feta crumbles instead of one big chunk of cheese. The "make your own" deep dish pizza (we had pepperoni, tomatoes, black and green olives) we had left a lot to be desired. It had a good covering of olives. But the dry flavorless crust, minimal pepperoni which needed spicing up buried under a too thick mantle of cheese topped with a sauce lacking in flavor just wasn't worth the price we paid. Why have I gone 37 years without having a deep dish pizza? I honestly don't know but let me tell you I will be making up for it in the future! Giordano's deep dish pizza is so delicious! My hubby and I started off with the calamari. I'm not a huge fan of it generally but once in awhile I cave and let him order it. Really it was pretty good! Then we ordered the Chicago classic deep dish pizza to share. Be sure to leave plenty of time for dinning here. It does take 45 minutes or so for them to cook the deep dish pizzas (totally worth the wait!). The Chicago classic comes with pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers, and onions. Let me tell you... this pizza is a divine piece of cheese, sauce, and toppings. It is worth the drive here if you aren't local like me! We will be back again in the near future. If you've ever been to Chicago - you've probably been to Giordano's - it's great Chicago deep dish pizza. Giordano's in Richfield wasn't quite like being in Chicago, but if you can't get to Chicago, I recommend this Minnesota location. This specific location seems to be quiet compared to the uptown location and definitely more quiet then the chicago location. Service was decent, nothing quick but you get your pizza. We just went here for the first time after driving by and wanting to try it out. Our server was friendly and promptly got us our drinks and even brought seconds over without us asking, which was nice. We waited quite awhile for 2 small pizzas, but ordered the thin crust and "super" thin crust. First of all, they were the exact same crust thickness, which is fine, but it tasted like flour and water... it was the blandest piece of cardboard I've ever had in my mouth. We looked around at the other 2 tables of people and realized we probably should have ordered the deep dish... so maybe that was our-bad. Since it was Christmas Eve, I joked with my boyfriend that maybe the chef had the night off and there was a server back there trying to figure out how to make pizza dough with zero ingredients. I had one piece of my dry Margherita pizza... which was covered with cold, bland tomatoes and a few pieces of tasteless mozzarella... I've never not been able to eat one slice, but miracles happen! So I reached for a slice of my boyfriend's special and the crust was just as bad. At least I could tear off the toppings and eat those. The server never asked why I had a pile of pizza crusts on my plate or if we enjoyed the pizza at all - we figured she must know how bad this crap is. When she came back with our pizzas boxed up, mine went directly in the dumpster. My boyfriend is gonna try to eat his toppings for lunch another day. We also got the cookie dessert to go. Got home and had the same issue! It wasn't so much bland, but we figured out where they put the salt... finally some flavor, but in the wrong place - and it wasn't even mixed! What were those white chunks? You can have those chunks of dried flour back and get yourself a new recipe and a new blender for that matter. This is only deep dish if you consider turning the crust 90 degrees to make the crust into a bowl. But the cheese and sauce is not filled in at all Just the regular pizza's amount !!! We were excited to try this location. after having heard how long the wait used to be in Minneapolis we planned accordingly and got there before the rush We got seated right away, which was great. But that is about the only positive The place is super noisy! The chairs and tables make awful metal screeching sounds on the cement floor. Ok, no big deal, but still a tad disturbing! After eating the first chicken nugget and cutting the 2nd in half with the fork, a HAIR is tangled up on my fork and around the nugget!!! I have short brown hair and this was a LONG blonde hair!! ICK!!!! I looked around to find our server, which I saw polishing a glass in the kitchen! She came over to our table with this polished new glass for me. She had realized that I hadn't used the one I had asked for! Yeah, because it was gross! I told her about the plastic and the hair in my food. I politely told her that we would be done, that this is just a bit too much, to cancel our pizza order and we would just leave. She offered to do something for us with the pizza, which we politely declined! We didn't want to wait for half an hour for a pizza we would be too grossed out to eat!! First time stopping here I got one of the deep dish pizzas. The crust was undercooked and top got cold. It's a long wait for the deep dish pizza so that really bites when it's not worth it. I've been to Lou Malnati's and Gino's East in Chicago and highly prefer those over what I got here in terms of crust and sauce flavor. I went back to Giordano's again recently and got the Italian Beef this time instead to avoid the long wait and because I didn't like the pizza before, and the Beef is pretty good.... I don't think it's any better than Chris & Rob's though, and over there you can get Chicago Dogs, too. Maybe I'll try the pizza again after they've been open a while longer and hopefully have things figured out a little better. Very noisy place even when not very busy. I don't think I can give a very fair review because most gluten free crust is not good. This one is no exception. I didn't have a chance to try the real deepdish and I'm sure that's the best. They do a nice little pizza for kids for $5 that's just the right size and the topping was really good. They give a small sundae for just $1. Very dissapointed. The deep dish is extremely bland. The mozzarella has zero flavor, and it had the texture of warm brie. It took an hour to cook, which is fine, but the pizza was not hot. It was warm at best. The tomato sauce on top is unseasoned crushed tomatoes. The crust is water and flour. Which is great for a cracker thin crust, but not a thick deep dish. I gave the leftovers to an adult and two kids. They reheated it at home and reported the same thing. My big issue is the cheese. I honestly don't think it was mozzarella. Tombstone pizza cheese has more flavor. So odd. I have eaten at Gino's East in Chicago. So, I know what Chicago deep dish can be. This wasn't close. read more

I have visited both the uptown location and now the Richfield location. I have loved my experience at both but the Richfield location is more roomy and a little less crowded on a weekday. My favorite part of the visit at Richfield was how welcoming the man at the front was but our waitress Joy was amazing. Her positive energy was infectious. She never hovered but made a point to follow and and keep our drinks filled. I overheard other patrons giving verbal compliments about her because she was that attentive to all her tables. Her customer service was more than I can say for the manager that went around checking on the tables but skipped us each time he went out to greet the customers in the patio. I don't patronize restaurants after the first bad service from the manger. The pizza was OK and it took forever. Not a place to go with a baby and a toddler. We had their special deep dish. I've been here now for both lunch and dinner, so I thought I'd finally do my review since this is a newer place. First of all, it's a nice place with a pleasant decor and lots of windows. The lunch was very good and I had the lunch special with spaghetti and added meat sauce and a meatball. It was very, very good with a nice flavored, rich sauce, al dente noodles, and a great Caesar salad. It was a great place for lunch. The service was pretty good as well. I went for dinner because we were in the mood for pizza and wanted to try theirs. We shared a Caesar salad which was again excellent as it was at lunch with really fresh lettuce and great Parmesan cheese. We ordered the Cheesy Garlic bread appetizer and that was one of my favorite things....SOOO good! Great flavor and it was half-price during Happy Hour so a great deal and tasty! We then ordered the hand tossed thin crust pizza since my fiancé isn't a huge deep dish pizza fan. It was excellent. Great toppings, cooked perfectly, and plenty of food with the 12 inch. Even had leftovers, but of course we had already had a salad and cheesy bread ;). I would have given this place a 5 star rating, at least until the last half of our experience. The service was excellent for the first half of our time there...and then our server just disappeared. She was very attentive and then we not only couldn't get the check, but when we finally flagged her down I could hardly catch her to take it and run the card. It was disappointing especially since she was going to the booth right behind us. There are only two booths there so it's not like she wasn't right there. I saw reviews about poor service, and that want my experience at lunch, or the first part of dinner, but it sounds like they need some consistency with that because it affects your desire to stop back in again. My wife & I ate here on April 6. We used our debit card to pay for the meal. Four days later our checking account was charged for the meal. Two days later (yesterday) our account was charged a second time. These were NOT memo posts or temporary holds that you often see - the money was taken out twice. We called immediately yesterday & were told to call back today, as four other people had called with the same complaint and someone would be there the next day to handle it. We called again today and still no resolution as she claimed both transactions may not have actually processed. This despite me looking at my online banking app which clearly shows two separate withdrawals. This is unacceptable. I was born in a suburb of Chicago, so I know the Giordano name well! So excited they have a location near me! We came on a Tuesday night and they are decently busy. The service was great! We enjoyed the calamari while our deep dish was cooking. I love the mix in the calamari plate! Lemons, calamari, onions and artichokes! It was a good mix with plenty of calamari! They have a small but decent beer selection including cider which is my go to! The pizza came out and was delivered to the table as soon as it was ready by a different server. That's a nice touch so your pizza doesn't have to wait for your server to be available! We got the Chicago classic. I'd say it could've had more onions since I didn't particularly notice them, but it's a fine balance of ingredients so it could easily go the other way! The dessert menu looked great but after all that, I wasn't thinking about dessert. Nice interior decor with the trendy old looking bulbs. Service is unfortunately not the best but if you have to get deep dish you should really come here! Don't get a pie that is too big though because it is actually really filling and I could only really eat one slice.
